p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanIt was a dismal night, as a human Kat walked through the French Quarter of New Orleans. She'd eventually been able to get here. Since she knew better than to go to her childe that hated her so much, Damon, her best bet was Elijah. Although he'd abandoned her, she knew he couldn't help himself. After all, when it came to her, he just had to help her. And right now, she needed help. More than that, she needed protection. She'd informed him before looking for a way here that the cure had been shoved down her throat, but he'd been too busy at the time to deal with her ordeal. Another reason why he couldn't help saving or helping her was his promise. Many centuries ago, he made a promise to her to protect her. That he'd do anything to keep her safe. After he'd left again though, and after their spat back in Pennsylvania, she didn't know if that promise still applied./p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanKat was still a young vampire, evading Klaus at each turn she could. Mostly, at this time, she did it alone, but Elijah also helped her do so. She hated being between them, but it wasn't exactly her call. Klaus' ambition and temper had brought them to this place. If he'd just accepted Elijah's plea to spare her, or if she'd accepted her fate to be used in the ritual to break Klaus' mother's spell on him, then she wouldn't have to be constantly in the middle of them. But she also probably wouldn't have found the love she had in him. He's loved her first, but apart from the stablehand in the 1400's in her time, he was her first love. She'd do anything he asked nearly, and he'd do the same with her. They just had to keep Klaus from knowing where she was./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanIt was nearly the 1760's, when she was in Chicago in an alley, having just fed. She'd sent the human on its way, when she sensed a presence. Because Elijah had been daggered shortly after she'd escaped Klaus in 1492, he hadn't been there for her, so she was just going through whatever motions she had left. The death of her mother had been a devastation to her. Her father, she didn't care, though. Like Klaus, she'd had some father issues with her own. It had been a long time since she'd actually truly loved her own father. Her mother had been her best friend and protector, though. Even before becoming a vampire, she hadn't liked playing by the rules, nor being civilized. And so, when she'd found her mother, and after she'd wept over her, she'd turned it off so she didn't have to feel that pain. Unlike most vampires though, she wasn't off slaughtering and causing mayhem, though. She made a few mistakes along the way, but when he could be, Elijah was there. There to protect her and to help her./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe turned around to face her only favorite Original of this time. At this time, she had yet to meet Rebekah or Kol, even though she knew of their names./p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I came as soon as I could. I heard what happened," he replied, and as an Original that knew her well enough, knew immediately that she was off. p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"You're three centuries late to an apology. You should've been there. You promised three centuries ago that you'd help me and be there when I needed it. You weren't. It's too late for that."/p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe looked at him, not having anything to say to that. To save her own life. To maybe even save Elijah's if Klaus had the habit of daggering Elijah. Besides, one of the only emotions she had left was hatred for what Klaus had done to her friends and mother. Only a monster could kill another person's mother./p

She'd had enough control though, having had a child of her own once, to leave the children be. But she hadn't anticipated that a child witnessing most of his pack be killed by a vampire would grow into an enemy. She didn't know that he'd gotten a witch to make a pendant that would keep him from aging and allow him to share some vampire abilities. For starters, instant vampire healing. And she'd learned not to rely too heavily on Elijah to help or protect her. To her, it seemed that his family meant more to him than she did. She knew if she was in real danger though, that he'd save her if he knew she needed it./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe turned around to face the creature, sensing that it was a werewolf, and was immediately pinned to the ground, Axel on top of her. p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Axel?" she inquired, having not expected him to become an enemy of hers, since she hadn't seen or noticed him until now. She could defend herself easily as a vampire, but as a human, she saw herself as weak. She hated that. It made her almost feel like who she had been all those centuries ago. And it wasn't like Marcel would help. He wasn't her fan after she'd killed some vampires of his back in the day. She'd been here not too long after they'd fled from Mikael. She'd been smart to not be here when Mikael had been, so she'd waited until he'd moved on, and she'd helped Marcel rebuild what Mikael had destroyed. However, she'd hated his rules. Especially, regarding controlling the witches. Despite what others thought, witches weren't usually her enemies. She liked them. She'd tried proving a point to Marcel about his rules, and so she'd had to leave this city before he could punish her. If enemies didn't get to her, either vampires or some unfortunate event would. And she knew Elijah knew that. Just like his brother, she'd made too many enemies, whether she'd meant to or not./p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Don't worry. As long as he plays nice like you ask, I'll leave everyone alone unless I'm required to help in some way," she assured him. She knew being under the same roof as Klaus, there'd be a way that she'd have to earn her keep. She knew he wouldn't let her stay completely free of charge. He wasn't her biggest fan./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Good. When you're ready, we should head to the cemetery. See if Davina can find a way to reverse whatever the cure's done to you. No one's taken it or, in your ordeal, gotten it shoved down their throat before. I'm not taking chances. We've both lost too many people," he replied and reminded her, even though he didn't need to remind her./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe finished her drink, setting it on the close by table./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I'm going to take a shower. If you can persuade someone in this compound to loan me some clothes, then I'll get ready and we can leave." After all, she wasn't going to wait if there was a chance that she could be helped. She was Katherine, human or not, and she normally picked survival. She didn't wish to wait in case the cure had done something to her. And she knew Elijah wouldn't want something to happen to her. No matter what got in their way, he would always care about her. It didn't matter the century. After everything they'd gone through with and without each other, they would always love each other, even as they loved others in certain centuries. After all, as vampires, they could love more than one person at a time./p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanAfter she'd taken a shower and gotten dressed, she headed down the stairs so that she could see the witch with Elijah. Unknown to Elijah though, she already knew her from when Davina had been a little younger. Before Marcel had stopped the Harvest the first time around. Before Davina had pretty much become an orphan. She'd also been friends with Sophie, before she'd become an advocate for the witches. And unlike other witches, neither of them hated or wanted to kill her. Even as a vampire, Kat had seen Davina kind of like a daughter, but unlike Marcel, she knew to not tell her what to do or not do. She allowed her to make her own choices. She'd even let down her walls around her. To this day though, she was sure that Davina didn't know why she'd up and left without a goodbye all those years ago. Now would probably be the time to do so, even if it meant that Davina would be angry at him. The girl knew what kind of person she'd been as a vampiress, so nothing would really surprise her with Kat. She accepted her almost like Sophie had./p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Don't worry.
After all, as vampires, they could love more than one person at a time./p

p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanAfter she'd taken a shower and gotten dressed, she headed down the stairs so that she could see the witch with Elijah.
