"For years, you have trained to become warriors. And today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates today.

"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said, first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years"

Commotion erupts at the end of the launch pad line. Saira couldn't care to pay attention. She looked to her right and looked at her friends. The people she wanted to spend all of Beacon with. The people who she wanted to spend the rest of her life fighting the enemy with. Each of them looked back and gave her an awkward smile. And she was launched into the forest. Saira took her gun and gently threw it onto a tree and swung down easily. She landed and held her pistol sill aiming it at anything that moved. But there was nothing.

"Come on. I know you're hiding out there"

But nothing moved. Saira slowly holstered her gun and sprinted off. "Gotta find Hobie, gotta find Hobie, gotta find Hobie….." she repeated to herself as she ran off

The last time Saira had seen anything was the launch pad. The journey had been a lot easier than what that headmaster had explained. All of the sudden she stumbled upon a small shrine. There were twenty pillars in the shrine. Each pillar had one chess piece and it looked like there was almost a full chess set of pieces.

"It would be pretty funny if I took all of these haha," Saira chuckled but no one was around to hear. Instead she went over to the pawn piece and pondered, "We're all just pawns in this world aren't we. Damn I'm cynical today. Myst is gonna love that."

The sun stayed high in the sky and unfortunately it was the end of summer. The heat was strong and kept beating down on Saira. Her feet dragged on. She looked up at the sky and knew what she had to do.

"Whelp, it's lunch time," she walked over to a tree and started climbing up it. From there, she sat down on a branch and pulled out an apple and bottle. Without warning, a giant bird flew overhead. Saira drew her pistol and got ready to run. But the giant bird didn't even register her. Instead, it was focused on two other people. Then in the woods a giant scorpion burst through the brush and in front of it were two others.

Saira sat back down and said, "Dinner and a show I guess."

Saira kicked her feet up on the branch and bit into her apple. She became more focused on the group fighting the grimm.

"Let's see. That's eight people. Two giant grimm. I wonder how they're going to take them down," Saira paused, "If they take them down. I wonder how they'll do it."

The fight finishes. Saira could only stare in awe at how the girl with the red cape used her scythe to decapitate the giant bird. All she could muster was a solemn "Woah."

The flight back had been easy enough. No signs of any of her team.

"Hey!" Saira tapped the person in front of her, "Did you find a partner?"

A short haired guy with a mohawk turned around, "Huh? Oh yeah we landed together."
Saira stepped off of the ship and was greeted by the woman who was at the launchpad site. She was the one who instructed everyone on how the test would work, "Miss Mar? Is there a Saira on this ship?"

"That's me. What can I do for you?" Saira replied.

"I need you to come with me. This will be about the recent actions taken in the forest."

Saira was led into a dark room. There stood the headmaster who was also at the launch site. He looked very mysterious, like he knew the answer to anything you could ask him. But also sad at the same time.

"Hello Miss Mar. Please have a seat. I'm Professor Ozpin. Glynda Goodwitch is the one who brought you in. I'd like to talk to you about your performance in the Emerald Forest."

"Yes I was hoping you'd bring this up. I wanted to know if I could be put on a team with my friends. They're names are Hobie, Myst and Khan."

"I'm quite aware of they're I'm about to tell you is something that is the result of my actions. And that is a burden I know I will have to bear for however long I live. Those three, Hobie, Myst and Khan have all perished on the battlefield fighting grimm. I am sorry for your loss."

"Oh," Saira sat there in shock. She thought of all the ways this couldn't have happened. It shouldn't have happened this way. They were supposed to be together. Fight enemies together. Survive this crazy world together.

Saira stood up and said, "I understand." She quickly took out her pistol and shot at Ozpin. Before she could aim, Glynda had used her glyph to stop her arm. Saira was able to get off two shots that hit just to the right of Ozpin's head. She threw the gun down and into her left hand shot three more times. Again she was stopped by Glynda and none of her shots connected.

Saira was held up by Glynda's powers. Tears were coming down Saira's face as she calmly said , "I'm going to kill you Ozpin. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. That's my goal. I'm going to kill you."

"I understand how you feel. More than you'll ever know. There is one matter we have to take care of. The one named Hobie was attacked by a particular grimm that had an unknown effect on him. His consciousness was taken out and we were able to trap it. In layman's terms, his consciousness is being stored. We'll have our machinery transferred to your quarters."

Glynda began escorting Saira away as she yelled, "You're going to pay for their deaths. I won't let them die in vain. You hear me Ozpin!?"

Ozpin looked down in sorrow. Because he truly was sorry.

That's chapter 2. So I'm writing at my own pace. So if anyone has any tips, tricks, or any feedback please feel free to DM me. I want to make this a good story. And even if it's not, I'm just happy to get it out of my head. So let me know what you think.
