Hi there!

I've technically been a member of FFN for like over a decade which is disgusting BUT ANYWAY I used to love doing these lil SYOCs and have been known to make submissions sporadically over the years. Finally decided to do one of my own. Figured you can't really go wrong with Harry Potter.

Keep reading for prologue, rules, and form!

Following the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998, the wizarding world got right to work on restoring itself to what it once was. With Voldemort defeated, many Death Eaters in hiding, and Harry Potter alive, the pieces were picked up with surprising haste and efficiency.

Hogwarts itself was nearly fully repaired over that summer, and happily welcomed its next class for the 1999 school year. Academics continued as normally as they could in the wake of a war. Now headed solely by Minerva McGonagall, it wasn't long before Hogwarts was nearly exactly as it was.

Mischief and ghosts still fill the corridors. Students still bustle about campus. Hogwarts is, once again, a place of wonder.

Minerva sits contentedly at her elegantly-carved desk, shuffling through the various parchments that cover its oak surface. In just a couple of days, the next school year at Hogwarts will commence.

Truthfully, she quite looks forward to each new year. Although they often carry reminders of the past, she finds it a breath of fresh air to see new faces become increasingly familiar. She rests easy knowing that, today, children can attend Hogwarts without fear.

"Another year, what wonder."

Minerva smiles just slightly, looks up to meet the sparkling blue eyes of Albus Dumbledore's portrait. "You always have loved the start of the year," she says.

"Every student who walks these halls is a reminder of all that we have conquered," says Albus. "I could not imagine a thing more wondrous than that."

"Neither could I, old friend."

That's it. That's the prologue.

I know FFN apparently has that weird rule about needing actual story content in order to publish, so I just wanted to throw that in there to be safe. Sorry it doesn't show you much of my writing, but I promise I'm actually kinda good at it.

Anyway, here's some background info and rules:

1) This story is set in 2007, nearly ten years after the Battle of Hogwarts. The idea is that the characters are among the first to go through Hogwarts without having seen the Battle, having started their Hogwarts career in 2000.

2) That being said, I won't make it super 2007-ish, so don't worry too much about having your character fit the bill of an early-2000s teen.

3) Preferably, all characters will be Seventh-Years, but I'll allow one or two Sixth-Years if necessary.

4) I haven't set too many rules on the form, so please try to follow whatever I have laid out as closely as possible. For example, as mentioned above, all characters must be in their seventh or sixth years at Hogwarts. Nearly all characters will be between the ages of 16 and 17.

5) I will be accepting up to SIX MAIN CHARACTERS, 2-4 girls and 2-4 boys, depending. Ideally, they will be a friend group, but if I find one or two personalities that I feel are better suited outside of this, or if you'd rather submit a lone-wolf type, then that's okay too!

6) THIS WILL BE A MOSTLY CHARACTER-ORIENTED STORY. I'm a big "character" person, and don't find myself overly apt at writing plot-heavy storylines. Really, this will be more of a one shot series, generally chronological but with potential to jump around in the timeline for the sake of exposition. But overall, just very slice-of-life, kids-being-kids vibes. If you'd rather see a big, epic plot, then you unfortunately will probably not find that here.

7) I'll allow multiple submissions, as well as aligned character submissions (siblings, friends, etc.), but ideally I'd like to accept only one character per user. If you choose to make multiple submissions, please be sure to send them as SEPARATE MESSAGES, as well as indicate which one you would prefer is accepted, as I will almost certainly only choose one.

8) When submitting your character, please send them via PM with the subject field, Long Live: [Character Name]. Remove the brackets around the character's name.

9) If you would like to include anything that is not listed on the form, that is okay. However, please still fill out all assigned fields.

10) A QUICK WARNING/DISCLAIMER: I am, unfortunately, a big girl now, and work a full-time job. Updates likely will not be overly consistent. If all goes well, I'll probably be able to get things written and published on weekends, but work-life balance keeps my social calendar pretty booked on weekends as well. That's part of the reason why I'm not making some plot-centered story; it can be exhausting and I'd rather hold myself to something more simple, fun, and low-stakes. Regardless, I'll do my absolute best to keep publishing, because I know first-hand how frustrating it is to put so much effort into creating a character just to be ghosted by the author.

11) In relation to the previous point, I'd love to hear input from all of you! Leave a review, shoot me a message, let me know what you'd like to see in the way of a plot or storyline, whether it's for your character or someone else's! I'm always open to suggestion and collaboration, so don't be shy.

That's about it. If you have any questions just shoot me a quick message. Looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!
