This is a story that I haven't been talking about since February. Now before I start, I am a newcomer into dungeon and Dragons, and I am using Vox Machina as my main source of knowledge. Thanks to Sidways8 to help me come up with the roles for the Straw Hat crew and their abilities. If you´re a D&D expert, please give me some ideas on what should I do in the next bach. I will put their roles in this chapter and at the end. Hope that you all enjoy this.
At the Republic of Tal´Dorei.
The Kingdom was passing through some difficult time at the moment. The reason because some dark forces in far away lands kept killing all the mercenaries' groups that they were sending to kill this creature. Literally all the best parties of rough people that money could buy were turned to dust at the end. That was making the royal family and their advisor super worried of what to do next.
''Lord Uriel! I know I said this before, but it would be best to send our army to challenge whatever this fiend is! It has already killed all the parties that we hired, its only a matter of time before they had their sights on the kingdom itseld.'' Said General Krieg all nervous.
''While this is a really naïve idea, I suggest we capture this beast and use at our favor. Imagine what will do for us in the future? It will make all of our enemies run away.'' Said Sir Fince with a smirk.
''You are talking out of your mind! There´s no fucking way a creature like that obey simple commands! It has to be something like…'' Said Krieg but soon he was interrupted.
''Sovering Uriel.'' Said a random guard.
''What is it?" Asked him.
''King Cobra of the Desert Kingdom of Alabasta is here, he is accompanied by Princess Vivi and their loyal guards Shaka and Pell. '' Said the guard.
''Send them inn.'' Said Uriel.
The doors of his room was soon open to a man with a long dark hair, accompanied by a young girl with blue hair, a pale with man with tattoos on his face and another tall man with a short black hair. This was King Cobra of the Desert Kingdom of Alabasta, a good friend and ally of Tal´Dorei and a personal good friend of Uriel.
''Cobra! It's been ages since I saw you old friend.'' Said Uriel hugging his friend.
''Uriel, I can say the same. You´ve haven't changed much since…you know.'' Said Cobra thinking of the last time that the two saw each other, it was at the funeral of his wife Queen Titi.
''I know, but its good to see you.'' Said Uriel.
Soon the sovereign seeks his eyes on the young man who appeared in front of him, she bowed to him a polite matter.
''Sovereign Uriel it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance.'' Said princess Vivi.
''You've grown a lot since the last I saw you little Vivi, I still remember you reaching my ankles.'' Said Uriel with a laugh.
''I did a lot of grown over the past few years.'' Said Vivi.
''So, what brings the great ruler of our sister nation to our doorsteps?" Asked Sir Fince.
''We´ve heard rumors that you´re having trouble with some creatures. Dozens have been sent to slaughter it and they´re all killed, I am correct?" Asked Cobra.
''I´m afraid that this is correct your majesty. We don't know what it could be, but we need it to end while is still far away from the main kingdom. Think of the life's that it could take.'' Said Krieg.
''This is understood, for that you can count on the army of Alabasta as yours.'' Said Cobra much to the council shock.
''Thank your Majesty! If we combine the two armies there no such thing that can survive its power.'' Said Krieg excited.
''Someone is having a war boner.'' Said Fince with a smirk.
''Ew.'' Said Vivi.
''Do you want to send your army right away King Cobra?" Asked Lady Kima of Vord.
''No Lady Kirma, I believe that we need to know what this creature is before we sent all of our forces. If you have no clue of what this being might be then I´m sure you don't want to risk your army in such a suicidal mission.'' Said Cobra.
The room was quiet for a moment, until Sovereign Uriel spoke.
''He is right. We can't risk two kingdom army to be destroyed at once. We will not send them away at the moment.
''Our armies will assist in replacing all the man that you´ve lost in the previous attacks, but that's it for now.'' Said Cobra.
''We need more information about who or what our enemies.'' Said Uriel.
''Then lets hire more mercenaries. I´m sure that are still some around.'' Said Cobra.
''But your majesty, both things aren't so easy. The Torian butchers are butchered, the Murder Hobos murdered, the Death Dealers are all dead.'' Said Fince all nervous.
''Then find someone worthy!'' Said Uriel!
''Ugh!'' Said Fince scared.
''don't rest until you´ve found the greatest band of mercenaries in all of Tal´Dorei.'' Said Uriel super serious.
''But sire, what should I do? I mean, our flyers just promise the usual reward.'' Said Fince.
''Just write you will pay in fortune or whatever they desire. This will attract them like fruit flies.'' Said Vivi with a smirk.
''What kind of group would be crazy enough to take a task like that? One that wishes death that's for sure.'' Thoguht Fince.
In a random tavern
A group of 10 people was having a nice meal with each other. They were a group of mercenaries, a mild one that wasn't very know around the kingdom. They were mostly tag group that got into all kind of adventures instead of taking missions.
''Come guys! Where is all the meat?!'' Asked a young man with some red jacket and with a Straw Hat hanging on his back.
This was Luffy or Monkey D. Luffy which was his full name. Despite being 19 he was the leader of the group, he was a Monk who was a master of Way of the Open Hand. Despite being a master of martial arts, he also was put a curse when he was a kid what would allow him to transform his body into rubber, which he believed was the greatest power ever.
''Hey, don't cause such a mess! I don't want meat on my booze.'' Said a man with green hair and a scar on his eye, but he also had three swords on his back.
Then there was Zoro, the first Luffy meet and joined on his quest to become a great mercenary crew. He was a fighter, with Battle Master style. He was a great swordman and the user of the legendary three swords style, which could cut mountains if used correctly.
''This is going to mess our budget. Lets cause a scene and then run like hell later.'' Said a woman with long orange hair, tattoos and a very sexy body.
The girl was named Nami. She was a Wizard who specialized in Evocation, plus a lot of summoning spells and her specialty was weather magic. She was also a great cartographer and could read any map that they could give to her.
''Oh come on Luffy! Let us eat too!'' Said a long-nosed guy with some googles on his head.
The long-nosed fellow was Usopp, he was Ranger with Fey Wandered style for his format. He was not only an expert marksman with his stuff, but he also knew how to cultivate some special type of plants that could help his friends while fighting creatures when they go on adventures.
''Nami-swan! If you want you can have my food! I am not hungry.'' Said a blonde with his hair covering his left eye and he had a cigarette in his mouth.
Sanji was the chef of the group and a really powerful fighter. He was a paladin who followed the Oath of the Crown, because of his love for women. He vowed to all the Gods that he would never ever hit a woman even if she was an enemy. However, if you´re a male enemy than you would lost all of your teeth because of Sanji kicks.
''Hey Luffy, don't eat my food!'' Said a young man with brown dark hair and a little tone of brown skin.
The youngling was named Chopper or Tony Tony Chopper, he was a Cleric with a Life Domain style. He could transform into animals, and he could even speak with every animal that they had in contact. He was the doctor of the group who knew a lot of healing spells and treatments to help his friends. Despite being so young he was called a prodigy in his area.
''Uh this wine is actually quite pleasant.'' Said a beautiful woman with dark hair and also a sexy body.
The astounding beauty was Nico Robin, she was a rogue with the power of Inquisitive. She was the archeologist of the group and pretty much the brains of the whole bunch. She had a power that could summon hands out of the blue like if they were petals and that was an ability that helped them in a lot of situations.
''Oh man! This is some good cola! We need a whole barrel of this.'' Said a giant man with mechanic limbs and not wearing pants at all, just with an speedo.
The giant mechanical man was Franky, he was the builder and mechanic of the group. When they had a ship or something to transport them it was Franky who usually fixed it and deal with the whole deal.
''Oh my, this meal is quite delicate. It makes me stick my tongue, even though I don't have a tongue Yohoho.'' Said a skeleton with an afro laughing.
This creature was Brook, the musician of the group. They found him on a closed cave a few months ago and he has been with them ever since. He was cursed by a mysterious creature in his past, making sure he wasn't going to the afterlife even after he died, once his spirit was brough back to the realm of the living it was just bones and his hair. Outside of a musician he was a bard who the style College of Swords, since he was also a great swordman.
''We have to find job very soon. We aren't going to be able to dine like this for a while.'' Said a large creature with scales and blue skin.
And to finish off was Jinbei, who was from a specie called Fishman who lived in the deep areas of the sea or other areas with large amount of water. He was Monk who specialized in the Way of the Four Elements, especially water since it was his main domain.
They were known as the Straw Hat Crew, all lead by Luffy and his desire to become the greatest adventure in the world.
''Man, this taverns isn't one of the worst but at least their booze is good.'' Said Nami.
''Yes, it kicks off right quickly.'' Said Zoro.
''How much do we have after this?" Asked Sanji to Usopp.
''Not much! Luffy is pretty much ending our months saving very quickly.'' Said Usopp seeing their money.
''Are we going to run off again?" Asked Chopper.
''This might be the case.'' Said Robin.
''We are already in deep trouble in a lot of places, so lets make sure we are not in debt in here too.'' Said Nami.
Soon someone from a nearby table was overhearing the group and decided to cheer them up.
''So, we heard you are all in deep shit. Hey you know what might help cheer you all?" Asked an elf.
''Oh really? What is it?" 'Asked Nami.
''A drinking game! This always lift up the moral of anyone.'' Said the elf woman.
The group looked to see who was at that table. Two elves who could be siblings, a druid with orange hair, a gnome cleric, a young man with white hair drinking some wine, a huge goliath barbarian and even a bear.
''wow look at those guys! They look awesome!'' Said Luffy.
''Well someone has a good eye.'' Said elf.
Robin looked at the group and had a really puzzled expression.
''Uh, with these descriptions and by the way you all look, are you all mercenaries?" Asked Robin.
''Oh yes! We are the greatest band of Mercenaries of them all.'' Said the Elf woman.
''Who are you all?" Asked Nami.
''Vox Machina! I am Vex, this is Vax, the guy drinking in silent is Percy, the druid is Keyleth, the gnome is Pike, the giant here is Grog, the bear is Trinket and we have another person with us, but that asshole run off with a whore again.''
The Straw Hat band just looked at them with a confused look, but then they had a good laugh.
''ha ha Ha. You all look funny.'' Said Luffy.
''Yes, more like a mercenary crew in pieces.'' Said Zoro.
''Then who are you guys?" Asked Pike.
''We are the Straw Hats! And I am Monkey D. Luffy, the man who will become the greatest adventure of them all!"' Said Luffy.
Vox Machina was all confused upon hearing that name.
''Who?'' Asked Grog.
''What a bunch of losers.'' Said Percy.
''We heard nothing about you all, I bet you´re all just a group of fakes.'' Said Vax.
''that's not true! We´ve been in a bunch of adventures! We are more to explore the world than getting money.'' Said Luffy.
''Unfortunately.'' Said nami all sad.
''I bet you´re just all fancy talk, I bet you cant even shit without your mommy holding your hand.'' Said Vax with a smirk.
The Straw Hats were now pissed that someone mocked their leader and they decided to humiliate these people, tavern style.
''How about we go on with that challenge?" Asked Nami.
''In what way girl?'' Asked Vex.
''A drinking contest. You´re saying that a minute ago.'' Said Robin.
The members of Vox Machina all smirked at that, a huge drinking contest was enough to make them want to drink more and more.
''Let's go! The loser has to pay dinner!'' Said Vex.
''Oh yeah!'' Scream Luffy.
The groups soon grabbed their mugs and started to chug down their ale. On that night a powerful alliance would start between the two greatest group of mercenaries in all of the kingdom.
So yes, this is a introduction of the Straw Hats in a DnD setting. I have to thank my DnD readers to give me enough information to come up with roles for the crew. I know very little about this world outside of Vox Machina, Critical Role and the movie that was launched this year.
