Buffy Summers-Finn was officially back to being just Buffy Summers. Three days before Christmas, the divorce had finally went through and been approved. She was a single woman, correction, a single mother again, but this time she was happy with her station in life. No longer was she was a teenager raising a baby, but now an adult with a preteen who had reconciled their differences from the Thanksgiving Day incident. Buffy and Liam were back to being two peas in a pod.

As for her relationship with Angel, they had kept each other at a distance. He understood that she was going through a divorce and didn't want to push a relationship on her during it. But that didn't stop Angel's involvement in her life, he had represented her during the divorce which was one last finally stab at Riley's ego. And Angel still stopped by the house to visit with her and Liam.

However, the divorce wasn't the only thing that had changed in Buffy's life. Dawn went into labor a few weeks early. Xander had been a mess at the hospital, trying to not get stressed out as fatherhood was quickly impending. Dawn was almost ready to kick him out of the delivery room and sub him out for Buffy, but the warning did the trick and Xander had composed himself long enough to see his daughter enter the world. It was that night, December 17th, that Dawn gave birth to a healthy baby girl named Joyce Elizabeth Harris. Buffy had teared up at the name. Her mother would be forever remember in her niece.

Life was good for Buffy Summers and nothing could beat the high she had been reeling from.

"Mom!" Liam cheered.

Buffy groaned as she heard Liam's voice. She turned onto her side and looked at the clock on her nightstand. "Liam, it's eight o'clock," Buffy complained. "Go back to bed."

"No can do," Liam argued as he jumped on his mother's bed. "Dad's waiting outside for you to let him in. Remember we're supposed to spend Christmas together like a normal family."

Liam had begged his mom to let his dad come over Christmas morning. Usually Christmas mornings were sacred and reserved to only the people in the house, but Liam wanted to spend Christmas with both of his parents. He had practically guilted his mom into agreeing since Angel had never spent Christmas with him.

Buffy huffed and rose from her bed. Liam ran to the bathroom to grab her bathrobe and helped his sleepy mother into it. The kid was in a hurry. He had a hunch that today was going to be a good day and he wanted to start it as soon as possible. Liam ran downstairs and sat in front of the Christmas tree as his mom rubbed her eyes awake and slowly opened the front door.

"Morning Sleeping Beauty," Angel greeted. Buffy held open the door and led Angel into the present-filled living room. The night before, Angel had dropped off his gifts for Liam and set them under the tree so Liam could open them all at once.

"Do you want some coffee?" Buffy asked. She was going to make some whether he said yes or no. It was the only thing that could get her awake enough to enjoy the holiday this early.

"Sure," Angel said. Buffy scurried off to the kitchen as Angel was tackled by his son's hug. "Hey kiddo, long time no see."

"Dad, you saw me last night at Grandma and Grandpa's," Liam countered. His dad had come in from LA yesterday to spend the holiday with him and his mom. Although, much to Liam's dismay, Angel had to leave again tomorrow morning.

"I got coffee!" Buffy announced, holding two cups as she moved into the living room. She handed Angel his and urged him to sit down on the couch with her. "Now you can open your presents."

Liam sped through opening the presents with his name written on it. He got the figurines he had asked for along with a few dvds, some new video games, and board games from his mom. From his dad, Liam had gotten a football, some books, a case of cookie dough fudge mint chip ice cream, and a camera. "Thank you!" Liam said hugging his parents. They always knew what to get him. "This has been the best Christmas ever!"

Angel had kissed Liam's head and tousled his hair before announcing he had to run out to his car to grab something quick.

"Are you sure about that?" Buffy asked Liam as she sipped her coffee.

"I'm sure," Liam confirmed, playing with his new action figures. "I don't think anything can be this."

"I beg to differ," Buffy causally said as Angel bursted through the door with something in his hand.

"What's that?" Liam asked, curious as to what the flat, rectangular, wrapped present in Angel's hand could be.

"Oh this?" Angel replied, holding up the present in the air. "This is for you. It's one last present that comes from both your mom and I." Angel handed Liam the gift and sat down next to Buffy whilst bravely wrapping his arm around her. To his surprise, she had welcomed the gesture and snuggled into him slightly.

Liam had eyed it curiously and shook the present, even more confused as to what laid beneath the wrapping paper. His impatience got the best of him as he tore open the gift. It was not what he expected.

The gift was a frame with his birth certificate in it reading, Liam Alexander Giles.

"Do you like it?" Angel asked nervously as he fiddled with his Claddagh ring. He and Buffy wanted to get Liam something special for Christmas and Buffy had been the one to propose changing their son's last name. With Angel in the picture again, there was no need for Liam to be going by Summers.

"Like it? I love it!" Liam exclaimed, hugging his parents once more. He now shared the same last name as his dad. That's all he ever wanted since Angel had become a staple in his life. "I'm Liam Alexander Giles now. I can't wait to tell all my friends."

"There's only one problem with that," Angel began. Buffy and Liam looked between themselves before settling on Angel in confusion. "You see, now that you and I have the same last name, we outnumber your mother. And we can't have that." Angel dropped from his seat on the couch and onto one knee. Liam scurried to grab his camera to capture the moment. Buffy, on the other hand, was speechless as Angel revealed a black, velvet box. "Buffy Anne Summers, I've known you my entire life whether I wanted to or not. Though we could never get along as kids, somewhere in all the bickering, I fell in love. And out of that love, we created something special, our son. We may have lost each other along the way with my pride and ambition being the reason we parted, but I never stopped loving you or Liam. I know you recently got divorced and are probably not ready for this. Hell, we never actually dated. But if you accept this ring, I'll wait weeks, months, and even years if it means I get to spend the rest of my life with you. So what do you say Buff? Will you marry me?"

Buffy watched as the ring sparkled in her direction. It was nothing like the gaudy one Riley had given her which had been huge and of poor taste and quality. Angel's ring complimented her. It was not ostentatious and was a more elegant version of the Claddagh ring she already wore. The only difference was that the heart was replaced with a Diamond.

Liam waited for his mom's response. The suspense was killing him. "Mom, say yes," Liam urged.

"So what will it be Buffy?" Angel asked.

She held her breath trying to come to a decision. Buffy was aware of how Liam felt, but she wanted the decision to be one from her heart not her head. So Buffy threw herself onto Angel and wrapped her arms around his neck sealing the deal with a kiss.

"Is that a yes?" Angel asked breaking the kiss for further clarification.

"Yes, a thousand times yes," Buffy answered as she went back to kissing her brand new fiancée.

Liam was fortunate enough the capture the picture. Not all kids could say that they took the picture of their parents getting engaged. He knew today was going to be a good day and his parents delivered. Life seemed as though it could not get better than it had in this moment.
