p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"It was a dismal night, as a recently turned back human because of the cure Kat continued driving. After her encounter with an immortal, Damon's broken promise that had resulted in him trying to hand her over on a silver platter to the immortal, and after running into an enemy on the way to running for her life, she'd begun heading for Beacon Hills. On her way into town though, a little ways past the town sign, she crashed the car. It wasn't exactly hers though, because it was just a vehicle she'd randomly hotwired back in Mystic Falls to get out of town. The enemy she'd ran into on her way had injured her, but she'd succeeded in killing the vampire. Now, because of her injuries, she'd crashed the car, making it land upside down with her inside./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"Despite her injuries, she blurrily crawled out of the wreckage, before everything went black for her./p

p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"Chris, having lost his daughter a few weeks ago in the big fight they'd all had with a big bad, was driving through town. That's when he came across a car crash. Being cautious as usual, he grabbed his gun just in case, and got out of his SUV, heading over to the crash, where he saw what looked to be Katherine. He still cared like he had before she'd left, but he also still loved her. He just didn't know what had transpired with her in the past few years she'd been gone. And she was clearly no longer a vampire. She was a human. An injured one at that./p
p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"He knelt by where she lay on her side. Seeing her injuries, he knew some of them weren't from the crash, so he assumed after all her mentions of having a bunch of enemies, it had to have been an enemy. Maybe one outside of town. /p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanHe put a hand on her shoulder./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Katherine?"/p
p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"After a few minutes of her not waking up, he put his gun away, before gently picking her up in his arms, taking her to his vehicle to get her taken to the hospital. He didn't know how long she'd been like this, but she'd clearly lost a lot of blood./p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal" style="text-indent: .5in;"When she woke up, she saw that she was in the hospital, apparently having already been taken to and finished with surgery. She felt fine now, despite having some pain, but she didn't care about the pain./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe slowly sat up in bed./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanShe looked at where he was seated in a chair./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Thanks," she replied with a smile. Chris sat on her bedside, a hand on hers./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanChris sat on her bedside, a hand on hers./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Well, I've lost enough people. Besides, no matter what I'm going through, I'd never leave you to die."/p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I wouldn't expect anything else," she replied, but wondered what he'd meant by losing enough people. The only losses she knew of were his sister and wife. "I came here, since my doppelganger shoved the cure for vampirism down my throat. And because Damon broke his promise to protect me. On my way here, I ran into a vampire enemy, so that's where most of my injuries came from. I was able to kill him, though. We don't need to worry about him," she informed him, without him needing to ask what had happened to her./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanAfter a moment of looking at each other, they began to kiss./p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanAfter she was discharged from the hospital, he took her home, which was when he informed her everything she'd missed, once they were both seated in the living room on his couch./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanAfter he'd informed her of everything, she rested a hand on the side of his face./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I'm so sorry," she sympathized. She had never wanted him to have to lose pretty much his entire family. Now, because of Allison getting killed to save someone she loved, he'd done just that. Lost his entire family. She remembered that pain. She also had recent pain from the loss of her own daughter. She just hid it pretty well. She also had the habit of distracting herself, instead of having to deal with that pain. "It's not the same, but I know what it's like," she stated, taking her hand away. "I was reunited with my long-lost daughter, Nadia, and a hybrid bit her. All she wanted was for me to be happy, instead of having to give anything up to save her, so I had to watch her die."/p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I'm sorry. You've had enough pain in your life. You didn't need this pain, too," he sympathized with her./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I've been distracting myself with other things, so I haven't allowed that pain in. Just like always."/p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"Well, when you're ready, I'm here," he reminded her./p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /span"I know," she replied./p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal" /p
p class="MsoNormal"span style="mso-tab-count: 1;" /spanLater that night, they were in his room, making out, symbolizing them getting back together again./p
