Lorelai arrived at Luke's house as fast as possible. She barely let her car stop before getting out. She'd just gone shopping the day before and found the prettiest dress she knew Luke would love. She unlocked the door to the diner and then made her way up to Luke's apartment as possible. knocking on the door, she remembered the day she dressed up in a maid's outfit the first time he made her dinner. Of course, that time was interrupted. this time would be different. no interruptions.
Luke opened the door with his jacket on, looking ready to leave. "Where are you going?" she said, planting a kiss on his soft lips. "You look all groomed and ready to go. I thought we were having dinner you cooked?" Lorelai said with a confused expression on her face.
"You mean where are we going? come on "Luke replied with a grin on his face.
"you still didn't answer my question. I got all ready for a private evening with you and your home-cooked dinner and dessert." a frown began to grow on her face.
Luke didn't respond, he instead pulled her down the stairs, her grumpily following him. he led her to his truck, where he continued keeping the mysterious look on his face. Lorelai kept her stubborn look the whole car ride, breaking the face every few seconds at Luke teasing her.
"Here. Put this blindfold on." Luke smiled.
"First you deprive me of a home-cooked meal, then you make me ruin this beautiful eye makeup I spent half an hour on? Luke," she replied with a frown.
"Fine. But so help me god if you look through my fingers when I do this, so help me god, I'll never put out on this date."
"Fine." Lorelai crosses her arms
As they arrive, Lorelai closes her eyes, Luke parks the car and leads her to the secret destination. Lorelai babbles her entire way to the entrance, Luke laughing along occasionally. Luke opens the door, and Lorelai is met with the smell of candles, flowers, and delicious food. Luke moves his hand away from Lorelai's eyes, but before he allows her to look around, spins her around to face him.
"You look beautiful." He plants a kiss on her temple, then kisses her deep red lips.
"So do you." she kisses him once again before turning around "And thank you." she turns around and gasps audibly. Lorelai begins roaming around the room. It was candlelit with roses and daisies all over the room. After a while, Lorelai realized where she was. the old potting shed. the first place she'd ever lived after running away from her parent's house. Lorelai found tears in her eyes. "you did this… you remembered? how…?"
"You told me a few years ago about this place. I had been planning to surprise you here for quite some time but then everything fell apart. I knew you'd love this place. I came here early this morning to make sure I could get everything done. I asked Sookie for a recipe for your favorite dessert, so I had that covered. I also made you a cheesecake to take home if we do get interrupted again."
"you're the perfect man." Lorelai began "I think the third times the charm here."
Luke hugged Lorelai tightly, then led her around the room. The bed he had hauled in was covered in roses and chocolate. Lorelai shrieked with excitement as they sat down at the perfectly set table. Luke poured two glasses of red wine, then began to serve the food. At every bite, Lorelai was basically drooling. she'd missed Luke's cooking so much. Of course, she ate at Luke's almost every morning after the divorce, but Luke's rather gourmet cooking was so much better. she loved his pancakes but when it came to fancier food, she just fell. They spent hours discussing practically everything there was to talk about.
"Hey, Lorelai?" Luke said nervously.
"Yeah?" Lorelai looked away from her food.
"The other night, when you were telling me about the night where everything fell apart… you said you told the therapist you wanted to have a baby…" Luke kicked around his words, "When you and Christopher got married, did you ever think about having another kid with him? I mean, you implied you wanted one in general."
"I never brought it up with Christopher. You remember that day I watched Gigi at the house? it was a mess, so I figured I wouldn't bring parenthood up especially after he was absent for most of Rory's life. but… Christopher did mention it. We were in bed one evening and Christopher had turned to me and asked if we could have a baby. somehow the thought disgusted me. I felt physically sick. So I said we could talk about it another time. I kept pushing it until we broke up, really. He was never a real man if you thought about it. When I got pregnant with Rory we were in a different situation. I understood his leaving for his career, but to see him letting Rory down time after time, then having another baby with Sherry, I don't think I ever really forgave Christopher for that. Maybe because of the fact that he promised me so much, I think I forgave him for that, but Rory. She just wanted her father. but he would never grow up. Then with Gigi. I put on a sorrowful face for Christopher when Sherry left because he'd been so absent with her and Gigi, but really I understood her. I understood why she left, raising a child with a man like that is suffocating. if I'm honest, I said I wanted another kid regardless of who it was with, but when I really lost you I realized I only ever wanted a kid with you." Lorelai sighs.
"Woah." Luke sighs back, "I guess that half-answers my next question."
"Did we just start playing 20 questions?" Lorelai jokes.
"No really, it's important." Luke responded dryly, "Would you still want to have a baby with me Lorelai?"
"further down the road? Of course," she responds rather quickly. "I have a question for you now."
"Shoot,"
"Will you ever be able to forgive me for Christopher?"
"Lorelai…" Luke began.
"Luke… please just tell me. I need to know if we can really make this work. I don't wanna waste your wonderful cooking on silent meals because there's unresolved tension."
"I don't think after that, I'll ever be okay with Christopher in our lives. I know he's Rory's father, but she's grown now. she's going to travel the freaking world! Did I ever tell you after you and Christopher were long together, we got in a fight in the town square? He looked so smug at me after I knew he married you because he knew I was too distracted with April to marry you. I honestly to god think he got with you partly to shove it in my face. but with you… I sort of understand. We both did damage control when it ended. I've seen Christopher appear in your life after a lot of major breakups. I sort of saw it coming in a way. I love you too much to hold a grudge like that. I think I forgave you the week before Rory's grad party if I'm honest." Luke breathed, then took a sip of his wine.
"wow… Luke, don't expect Christopher to be in our lives. at all. I think we're finally… done. as friends and anything more than that. He was at Rory's graduation, but we didn't talk much. He didn't even stay for family pictures. I think we got the true closure we needed for twenty years when it all ended. now we're merely strangers who used to know one another." Lorelai felt relief on her shoulders.
"one more thing." Luke jolted in before the subject changed. "Will you ever forgive me for April?"
"There was never anything to forgive. It was just a crappy situation. Do I think you could have handled it better? One hundred percent. but it was a lot. I get it. I do think this time we need to figure out what role I play in her life. I may have understood Anna, I may have understood you, but I'm not losing you again Luke. promise me."
"I promise." Luke reached for Lorelai's hand as he scooted his chair to be closer to her. when he grasped it she squeezed his hand tightly. "i promise we'll have it all Lorelai."
Lorelai's face lit up at this response. "We can figure out the details later, but I wanna take April shopping or something. just me and her. something she likes to do."
"Shopping will be wonderful. She has always looked up to your clothes and your style. Maybe you can teach her how to do her hair too." Luke responded with a smile. Of course, it scared him of what Anna would say, but April was his daughter. She was a teenager. April was far past confusing Lorelai as just some girl who's gonna come in and out of Luke's life.
"Why don't we say we finish this food, then eat dessert in bed." Lorelai gestures.
"perfect." Luke looked into her eyes with a gleaming glow in his. he had the love of his life back. "And you know what I still have?"
"Luke, you need to clean out your wallet. even if you wanna keep it, put it in your dresser or something." Lorelai took another bite of her pasta. To Lorelai's surprise, Luke pulls out two things. "my wring… and my horoscope… Luke, you're not…? right?"
"Oh god no, not now Lorelai. but just know that I have it, and I love you even more than I did when it was actually on your finger." he winks, "If that's possible."
"Do you happen to have your first condom in that wallet as well?" Lorelai tries to soften the suddenly very heavy atmosphere.
Luke kisses her knowing what he just put on the table. Marriage. Not now, but eventually, soon even.
"you wanna see one thing before we wrap dinner up that i never really told you about the independence inn?"
"Of course" Luke was pulled up by lorelais gentle hand. then led to the back of the potting shed.
"Right here, this is where I used to plant flowers. Do you see how the ground is still kinda different from the rest of the grass? When the inn burnt down and Mia sold the place they dug up all the flowers. I hate gardening now, but when Rory was little, whenever I wasn't working as a maid, I'd come over here and tend to flowers with Rory. Mia thought they were so pretty, she'd stop by often to smell them. This is where I got my love for yellow daisies. I don't really talk about them much anymore, but I've always loved them."
luke felt quite overwhelmed. lorelai never really talked about that part of her life, when she was a maid, post-Gilmore economy. It was kind of like how he was with his father and mother's deaths. they were such dark times for her, so much so that she rarely ever talked about them, she even admitted the first person she ever told about her past that wasn't a part of it was Luke. luke smiled at the thought of Lorelai being so open to him.
Luke hugged Lorelai. He had always loved when she shared her past with him but wished it wasn't so dark and cloudy. Lorelai's childhood felt like it was so locked up from the world. He wished there was a way he could dive into her childhood without having to actually go to her parent's house. Luke began getting flashbacks of his first dinner at the Gilmore household, Emily naming every flaw she saw in Luke with backhanded compliments. He quickly snapped out of it when he felt a slight tug on his arm.
"Whatcha thinkin' hun?" Lorelai continued pulling on his arm.
"Nothing, nothing. You wanna go back in?" He responds, staring into her gleaming eyes.
Luke leads Lorelai back into the potting shed, a few of the candles had gone out with the wind from the door being open. Lorelai made a comment about the ambiance of their surroundings, then proposed they eat dessert in bed. Luke hurried to slip his shoes off and bring Lorelai her dessert for the evening. Lorelai sat on the bed in anticipation and was finally greeted with a kiss on her lips and a dessert on the bed next to her. Lorelai had also managed to scrounge up a few chocolates from where she was going to sit and set them just in front of her.
Lorelai gave Luke a quick smile before grabbing a chocolate for herself, then handing him one. he rolled his eyes at this action, because he claimed to hate sweets, but continued to eat it followed by an "mmmm" sound coming from his throat. lorelai giggled, then continued to eat another one of the chocolates.
Luke set two forks on the bed, allowing Lorelai to begin taking bites of the dessert before filling up on the many chocolates laying on the bed.
About ten minutes into eating their dessert, Lorelai looked at Luke. "Do you wanna wrap this up so we can…"
Instead of replying, Luke gazed at Lorelai, nodded, then quickly got up from the bed, and set the dessert in a container he specifically brought for the dessert. By the time he got back, Lorelai had already reapplied her classic purplish-red lip Luke had expressed his love for so fondly.
Lorelai lay on the bed while Luke began to kiss her all over her body, a body he had missed so much for those twelve months apart. Lorelai moaned softly as his lips hit her neck. She buried her hands in Luke's soft, curly hair. He smelled like a new cologne and the same body wash he had a year earlier. Luke's lips met hers, and their tongues danced for what felt like forever. Time slowed when they were together, especially now. Lorelai rolled over, on top of him. His hands were quickly filled with her long, black, curly hair. She kissed his neck, before unbuttoning his flannel, to which she was met by his classic grey t-shirt.
"Sometimes I wish you'd lose the flannel, show off your arms a little," Lorelai whispered in Luke's ear.
"Well, then they wouldn't be only your favorite thing," Luke whispered back.
"What's the point in having a tattoo if only you and I enjoy it? What's the point of working out?" Lorelai rolled her eyes.
"Shut up and kiss me, Lorelai." He replied, before diving right back up so her lips met his.
Lorelai quickly sat up, sitting on Luke's stomach now, lifting her dress off, revealing her bra. Luke banged his head against the pillow, sighing. Lorelai throws her dress over to the table, then lays back down to kiss Luke another time. Lorelai reaches to lift Luke's shirt off his chest, and orders Luke to lift his back so she can pull the shirt over his head, then kisses him all over his chest. Something she'd loved to run her hands and lips all over.
Lorelai let out a loose moan from her lips as Luke took over, kissing her neck. Quickly, Luke released Lorelai's bra from her chest with his free hand, the other hand entangled in her long curls. Giggling, Lorelai rolled her eyes at the fact that Luke did it so easily, she found he had gotten cocky. By the time she had a second to think, Luke was rolling her over onto her back again. "I wasn't done…" She sounded quiet and disappointed.
"That's too bad, you were slacking," Luke replied, grinning with excitement.
Lorelai groaned, but Luke ignored her. In anger, she undid his belt buckle, unzipping his pants. She took him in her hand, trying to get Luke's attention. Luke stopped kissing her chest, and moved his mouth up to her lips, kissing her strongly with passion. Their tongues danced for a minute, distracting Lorelai's hands as they both moved to clutch his body against hers.
As he knelt over her, Luke slid Lorelai's panties down, not letting her take over. He began kissing her stomach, moving down to her thighs, then eventually making his way down. Luke began kissing around her inner thighs until he moved closer in. He began flicking her with his tongue, before allowing his mouth to take her all in. Lorelai let out a loud moan in pleasure, causing Luke to continue on harder.
"Luke please…" Lorelai pleaded, arching her back,
Luke ignored her, continuing on, and seeming to take pleasure in every noise she made. Lorelai let out a scream so loud, she swore to god she heard a line of crows fly away. Luke continued on until he knew she finished, taking her all in. He then removed his pants, finishing Lorelai's failed attempt.
As soon as he brought his dick up to her, she felt it brush against her, and let out a soft groan. Luke entered her softly, but to Lorelai's demand, sped his thrusts quickly. Lorelai let out another scream, pleading for him to go all in. As he got harder, her fingernails dug into his back more and more.
"Luke, Luke!" Lorelai gasped, she felt another climax arriving.
Luke smiled at her reaction and sped his thrusts yet again. Moaning every entrance, he also felt a climax coming. He continued moving against her, Lorelai giving into every thrust with the lift of her torso.
The two both released pleasured moans from their lips before Luke collapsed on top of Lorelai.
"Oh my god, I missed you." Lorelai panted heavily. As soon as she regained any strength in her muscles, Lorelai rolled Luke over yet again, covering his naked body with hers, simply laying there, enjoying the way they felt touching each other fully. "Thank you." She finally said.
Luke sat in silence, continuing to gently kiss her neck. Lorelai lay there, brushing her hands all over his body; on his back, in his hair, on his face. Every once in a while, she'd grab his face and kiss him passionately. Moaning softly every time he felt his hands brush against her, taking in every ounce of his love. She finally had this.
The long moonlit night continued on, Lorelai and Luke continued throughout the night with their bodies entangled with each other. They were making up for so much lost time. After hours of pleasure and love, Lorelai and Luke found themselves asleep in one another's arms. How it was always supposed to be. Them, for the rest of their lives.
