Gaia had signed up for being a jounin sensei a while ago. He got along well with kids and his godson assured him that he was super cool and an awesome teacher so clearly he had what it took.

After the next academy class graduated, it was time.

Gaia received the files on his students from the Hokage in the administration building.

Benetto, Haruno Sakura, and … Uchiha Sasuke.

Gaia looked up at the old man who gave him a meaningful nod.

Well, it made sense, he supposed.

Gaia gave his leader a cheerful grin and a two-finger salute before he disappeared in a whirl of leaves.

He went to visit the Haruno family first.

"Oh, you must be Gaia-sensei then, I'm so glad to meet you!" Mebuki–an energetic blonde woman and Sakura's mother–greeted him. "Why don't you come in for some tea!"

"Yes," her husband, Kizashi agreed, "Let me just get it rea-tea!" he laughed at his own joke.

Mebuki gave a false laugh as well and Gaia forced himself to chuckle along.

Gaia let himself be dragged into the Haruno home.

"Say, do you have any experience in teaching?" Mebuki asked.

"You just seem very young. How old are you?" Kizashi added.

Gaia lifted his hands in surrender, "Ah well, I don't exactly have any propor teaching experience," he admitted and turned to Kizashi when he said, "And I'm 20 years old. But I do have experience in taking care of the younger generation of shinobi."

He lifted the cup of tea that had been offered to him, "As it happens, the Hokage trusts me to take care of his very own grandson," he told them, taking a sip.

He didn't usually play this card, Konohamaru was more than just the Hokage's grandson after all, but it came in handy sometimes. Just as it did now.

"Oh really?" Mebuki asked, suddenly a lot more relaxed.

She started asking him more questions about his life and career which he answered more or less truthfully. When she was satisfied with the information given, she instead switched to exchanging gossip with him which Kizashi made terrible jokes that only he found funny.

All in all, the visit of the Haruno family was a success.

Gaia passed the Uchiha compound without looking inside. He had memories of it being filled with life, even remembered a small Sasuke smiling and running after his big brother, but it wasn't like that anymore. There were no parents he could meet in the desolate compound.

So he made his way to the district of Konoha that held the apartments mostly rented by chuunin and jounin. He himself had moved into this area after first being promoted from genin.

Morino Ibiki lived in an apartment that was as close to T&I as it could get. The scarred man who was the head torturer of the village also happened to be the caretaker of Gaia's third student.

Gaia found the man's apartment and knocked. There was no answer.

He waited. Maybe Ibiki wasn't home?

Just as he was about to leave, the door opened. As Gaia looked up into the scarred face he wondered if the man had made him wait on purpose.

"You Benetto's jounin sensei?" Ibiki asked.

"Yes, I am, Ibiki-san."

The man hummed, "Come in," and turned around.

Gaia followed him and had the vague feeling of following a bear into her den.

Instead of being greeted by hungry bear cubs, he was met with a table set for two.

Ibiki motioned to the seat in front of him before starting to eat his own meal.

Slowly, Gaia grabbed the chopsticks and started eating.

Halfway through the meal, Ibiki spoke up again.

"So," he started, "What experience do you have with poisons?"

"Uh, not a lot. Why?

Ibiki hummed, "That's what I thought," and explained one of the things he had found iut about his charge a few days into taking care of him.

Ibiki walked into the kitchen where Benetto was frying himself some fish. Unlike the last time, nothing seemed to be on fire.

He watched as the kid pulled a powder from his hip pouch and started seasoning the fish.

"What's that?" Ibiki asked, more as a conversation starter than out of actual curiosity.

The boy, who hadn't noticed him, flinched in surprise and dropped the container on the floor.

"Aw man," he bemoaned the loss, "That was the last of it."

"What is it?" Ibiki repeated, now genuinely interested in what the hell the kid was putting on his food.

Benetto shrugged, "Don't really know. Some poison."

Ibiki blinked, "You're putting poison on your food?... On purpose?"

"I'm building a resistance!" Benetto grinned, "This one time I was at a restaurant and it turned out that the food I was served was meant for some spy that was supposed to be poisoned. I've just got bad luck like that," he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, "So Mon- uh, someone said it would be good for me to build up a resistance, just in case."

Ibiki supposed that made sense. He glanced at the label of the broken container and decided who was going to be scrubbing the toilets at Anbu headquarters for the next week.

Shiranui should know better than to hand S-Class poisons to a 12-year-old for Kami's sake.

Gaia blinked in surprise. He hadn't expected that.

Ibiki then pulled out a scroll, "Here are all the things I've figured out he's allergic to so far. You might have to add to it. And watch what the kid eats on Team outings, he's got shit luck. You don't want him to die on you."

The look on Ibiki's face and the tone of his voice let Gaia know that no, he really didn't want the kid to die on him.

Then, as of they he had simply discussed the weather and not more or less threatened his life a moment ago, Ibiki gestured to Gaia's plate, "Eat up."

Sufficient to say, Gaia did not plan on visiting the Morino household again.

The day of the team assignments, Gaia picked his new genin up from their former classroom.

His kunoichi was wearing a red short-sleeved qipao dress with shorts underneath. The girl had pastel pink hair that reached her waist and was only partly held out of her face by her hitaiate.

The Uchiha boy was just as pale and dark-haired as any Uchiha with his clan crest proudly displayed on the back of his wide-collared shirt. He, too was wearing shorts–his were even shorter than Sakura's–and had his lower legs wrapped up. His hitaiate was worn as a headband.

The third kid, a platinum blond with eyes a similar shade of green to that of his female teammate, wore his hitaiate wrapped around one of his arms. Said arms were covered in various kinds of scars and not the least bit protected by his sleeveöess vest. Just like his teammates, he was wearing shorts, though he seemed a lot more worn down than the others.

"All right, chibi-chans," Gaia started, "I'm your new Gaia-sensei. My strenghts lie in bukijutsu and ninjutsu. I want all three of you to introduce yourself with your name, strengths, and what you want to improve in."

When no one seemed to want to go first, Benetto shrugged and grinned up at him.

"I'm Benetto. I'm pretty good at fire jutsus and uh, causing general destruction. I'd like to learn to use some sort of sword."

"Hn, I'm Uchiha Sasuke," the dark-haired boy followed his teammate's example, "I excel in all I have been thought so far and want to improve on all of it to become as strong as possible."

This caused the kunoichi to squeal, "You're so cool Sasuke-kun!" then she turned to Gaia, "I'm Haruno Sakura. I'm really good at kunoichi classes and, uh, I suppose I could improve my bukijutsu?"

Gaia clapped in his hands, "Well then, we will have a team spar today and get started on training tomorrow. I look forward to working with you," he grinned.
