~Hero Worship is Unhealthy~
Sonic was at the park one sunny summer morning with his son, Turbo. Amy was out of town visiting her in-laws in the countryside, and she had taken Speedy and SJ with her, so it was just the Blue Blur and his first son for the weekend.
The two were in their werehog forms because they were doing some training. After he learned they inherited the werehog form from them a month after they were born, Sonic decided he would train his twins to control their abilities when they got a little older.
Speedy had actually been a quick learner and had gotten the hand of her werehog abilities in no time, but Turbo was a bit of a slow learner and needed more training, which is why they were at the park.
Also, there was a kindergarten class at the park, playing on the playground, so Sonic decided to take a break from training his son to show off in front of the kids. With them and Turbo watching, Sonic used his werehog strength to lift a large boulder up and down like a gym weight.
Then, he ran on all fours towards a nearby tree and shot his right arm up, stretching up the highest branch. Sonic pulled himself up to the branch and then did a backflip, spinning in the air before landing with a grunt. He finished off his little stunt show by giving a loud howl.
All the kids cheered and applauded while Turbo ran over on all fours to tackle Sonic in a hug, "That was super awesome, Dad! I wanna do stuff like that too!", he said excitedly.
Sonic smirked as he patted his son on the head with his large hand, "Well, now that I'm all done and the kids are heading back to their school, let's continue our training. Then you'll definitely be able to do all that", he said.
Sonic was right, the kindergartners were being led back to the schoolhouse across the street from the park, allowing him to get back to training his son.
Or so he thought...
"Oh boy! There he is! Sonic the Hedgehog!"
Sonic and Turbo turned around to see someone approaching them, it was a female Mobian goat with light brown fur with dark brown spots, blue eyes and dark brown hair. She was wearing a pair of glasses, a red orange sweater with a bell on the collar and red orange sneakers.
Sonic looked at her with confusion, "Uh, aren't you a bit old to be in kindergarten? Or are you just one of the teachers?", he asked.
"I'm not a student or a teacher, actually. I just wanted to meet you. Maribelle the Goat. Hi, I'm your biggest fan!", said the goat.
Maribelle offered a handshake, Sonic reluctantly accepted it as his son watched the whole exchange with curiosity. Maribelle shook Sonic's hand in excitement as the handshake went on for quite some time.
"Yeah-- okay. That's enough hand-shaking", said Sonic.
"Yeah, right, sorry. Hey, seeing that your hand is now free, can I get your autograph?", said Maribelle.
Sonic reached out a hand, "Mm, sure. Got any paper?", he asked.
Maribelle looked around her body to find a piece of paper but to no avail, "Forgot the paper. Stupid, stupid!", she grumbled as she smacked herself in the forehead twice.
Sonic held up his hands, It's okay, really. Maybe next time. I've got to get back to training my son, anyway", he said as he walked away with Turbo.
"What a weird lady, huh Dad?", Turbo muttered.
Maribelle watched them leave as dark look appeared on her face, "Yeah, next time. I'll see you real soon, Sonic", she said.

A few hours later, Sonic was in his normal form and was standing by the counter at a local fast food restaurant. Sonic took his tray from the cashier, but as he turned around, Maribelle had suddenly appeared in front of him, standing face to face with him, startling the hedgehog.
"Told ya I'd see you real soon! Isn't that funny? Hey, wanna sit with me?", she said as she put hed tray on a table and offered a seat to Sonic.
"Um...I was gonna sit with my son", said Sonic as he gestured his head over to another table. Sitting at it was Turbo, who was alternating between eating a cheeseburger with fries and playing with the toy plane that came with his kid's meal.
Maribelle noticed the ten year old at the table and glared at him, "I totally understand", she said to Sonic.
Sonic rushed over to the table and took a seat. However, a scraping noise was then heard. The two hedgehog look over and see Maribelle dragging her table over to join them, sitting with them.
Sonic began to feel uncomfortable, but his son was with him and he knew better than to act rudely in front of him, so he tried to politely initiate a conversation. "Son, you remember Maribelle the Goat, my biggest fan. Maribelle, this is my son, Turbo", he said.
"Hello, ma'am!", said Turbo.
"I can't believe I'm having lunch with Sonic the Hedgehog! We've even ordered the exact same meal: chili dog, fries and a grape soda!", said Maribelle.
"I got an orange soda", said Sonic.
"This is all wrong!", Maribelle snapped as she rushed over to the counter and tapped on it to get an employee.
Turbo turned to Sonic, "Dad, that lady is kinda weird. I know you have fans because you're a world famous hero, but she seems little...what's the word...unhinged?", he said shyly.
"Now, son, your Mom and I have taught you before that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Besides, she's just a fan. I've got dozens of them! Of course, she's the first one who doesn't criticize everything I do", said Sonic.
Just then, Maribelle popped up again. "Orange soda! Just like you, Sonic", she said as she was just about to sit back down.
"Actually, we just finished eating", said Sonic as he was holding both his and Turbo's empty trays.
"Oh, yeah. Me too, me too", Maribelle said as she threw her food in the trash bin next to her, "Great having lunch with ya! Maybe next time I can bake you some treats at my house. Door is always open. Except when it's locked and deadbolted, then nobody gets in. Or out. Well, bye!"
As she waved and walked off, Sonic turned back to Turbo. "See? Nice girl!", he said.
Turbo shrugged, "Well, okay. You're the grown up, so you know more than I do", he said.

Later that day, Sonic was standing with Turbo on line at the small Post Office in town, a medium sized box clutched in his left arm. Some of the other townsfolk were waiting in the long line for their postal packages, with Sonic being at the back of the line.
"Man, this line is taking forever", said Sonic as he tapped his foot impatiently.
Just then, the familiar jingle of an ice cream truck could heard. The white truck covered with pictures of ice cream and prices pulled up to the curb a few feet from the Post Office.
Turbo immediately perked up when he saw it, "Dad! Can I get some ice cream?", he asked.
Sonic was now conflicted, on the one hand he did want to let his son get some ice cream since it was hot outside and a frozen treat would be perfect. On the other hand, he was hesitant to let Turbo go off on his own for one very important reason.
You see, Turbo had ADHD: it was mild as few symptoms beyond the required number for diagnosis were present, and symptoms resulted in minor impairment in social, school or work settings. However, it was still a problem, especially when they went out.
Back when the twins were five years old, Sonic had taken Turbo with him to shop for festive clothes for an upcoming Christmas party, but Turbo had gotten distracted by a cotton candy vendor and wandered off.
Then, he got distracted again by a toy store and wandered in to play with some of the toys they had on display. It was only when one of the toy store clerks noticed him and asked him where his parents were that Turbo realized he was separated from Sonic, and he started bawling hysterically.
The clerk had brought the hedgehog toddler to the information booth, where they called for Sonic over the loud speaker. Turns out, he had been frantically searching for his son the second he realized he was gone, but since it was Black Friday, finding him was near impossible.
That incident was what compelled Sonic and Amy to bring Turbo to a specialist, who diagnosed him with mild ADHD. Since it was mild, it didn't require treatment with Ritalin but Sonic and Amy were told to keep a close eye on him so he doesn't wander off into danger.
So, you can see why Sonic didn't want his son walking off by himself to get ice cream. That, and he also didn't want to lose his spot in the line and have to wait even longer to mail his package.
Just then, Maribelle ran up to Sonic.
"Oh! Hey, Sonic. Why are you standing in line? You're way too important to waste your precious time waiting alongside the, um...unwashed masses", she said. She had spoken out loud, so those in line were very audibly offended by her comment.
"What you need is a personal assistant. I can take care of all the mundane grunt work, leaving you free to do the kind of heroic stuff heroes do", Maribelle said with glee.
Sonic smiled at his stroke of luck, "Okay. You're hired. First order of business: you mundanely stand in line while I heroically get my son some ice cream", he said as he walked off with Turbo to the ice cream truck.
Once he was gone, Maribelle suddenly barged her way to the front of the line. "Out of the way. Excuse me. Package from someone who actually matters coming through", she said as she placed the package on the desk, "I'd like to mail this package. It's for Sonic the Hedgehog. I'm his personal assistant".
The Post Office teller placed the package on an electric scale, looking at the screen. "You will have to buy one more stamp", he said.
That's when Maribelle started panicking, "This is my first job as Sonic's assistant and I messed it up! I mess everything up!", she berated herself.
She then spotted Sonic walking back, "He's coming! Pretend nothing's wrong", she said to the teller.
"Nothing is wrong", said the teller with a questioning look on his face.
Maribelle gave him a deadpan glare, "Nice try, but you need to be much more convincing", she said.
Sonic soon returned with Turbo, the young boy was holding a double scoop strawberry ice cream cone, licking it with a happy smile; Sonic, meanwhile, held an ice cream sandwich in his own hand. "Did you mail the package?", asked Sonic.
Maribelle hesitated for a second before speaking, "Sonic! A little kerfuffle. Your package needs another stamp", she said meekly as if she thought she was going to be reprimanded.
"No prob. My son and I are gonna go eat our ice cream. You finish up here", said Sonic as he flicked a coin onto the counter. Maribelle breathed a sigh of relief, "That was close", she said.
The Post Office teller grumpily took the coin and stamped the package.
After that, Maribelle ran over to Sonic, who sat with Turbo on a nearby bench, eating their ice cream. "All taken care of, boss", she said enthusiastically. Sonic gave her a grateful smile, "Maribelle, I got a feeling this is the start of a wonderful assistantship", he said.

The next day, Maribelle had accompanied Sonic and his son through town as he ran some errands. They first stopped at a clothes shop to purchase some summer clothes.
Turbo stepped out of the dressing room wearing shark themed swimming trunks, "That is so you!", said Maribelle with a smile while Sonic gave a thumbs up.
Then, Maribelle helped them do some grocery shopping, assisting with paying for the items and putting them away in their house. After that, they had lunch where Maribelle treated them to a Spagonian restaurant.
After that, Sonic was back at the local park, once again training Turbo on how to better control his werehog form. This time, he was teaching him how to use his abilities in combat.
Turbo ran at his father on all fours, aiming a punch at him, but Sonic blocked it with his large arm and then delivered his own punch, causing Turbo to roll away. Maribelle ran up next to the boy with a juice box in her hands.
"OK. You got this, champ. Just need to replenish those electrolytes", she said as she fed Turbo the drink. Turbo took a moment to drink the juice and catch his breath before standing back up.
"Now as for strategy, might I suggest a fake-out? You run up to Sonic and make it look like you're going in for a right hook, but then attack from the left. And focus your attacks on your Dad's vulnerable hamstrings", Maribelle suggested.
"Cool!", said Turbo as he ran up to Sonic again. He took her advice and made it look like he was going to punch Sonic with his right hand, but while Sonic was distracted by blocking the hand, Turbo took advantage of this and kicked him in his right leg, right in his hamstring.
Sonic growled in pain as he fell to the ground, Turbo immediately looked concern believing he hurt his father, but then Sonic shook himself off and stood up. "Nice work, Turbo! That was an awesome move, you're getting better!", he said with a thumbs up.
Turbo smiled widely as Maribelle approached him, "Nice job there, kiddo", she said. Turbo then surprised her by giving her a big hug, "I did it! You gave me advice and it worked! Thank you!", he whispered.
Maribelle smiled widely as she had to hold back the tears that came to her eyes.

Later on, Sonic was laying on the picnic table in his backyard as Maribelle gave him a back massage, Turbo sat off to the side playing with his phone.
"Oh yeah, ohh...you madam, are an artist with your elbow", said Sonic.
Suddenly Turbo stood up and ran over to Sonic's side, "Dad! Crash Bandicoot 2 just came out! We gotta go see, everyone's saying it's even better than the first movie!", he said excitedly.
"About time! I've been waiting two whole years for the second movie to come out", said Sonic as he stood up. The two hedgehogs were about to walk out of the backyard, but Maribelle held them back.
"Wait! I'm supposed to interview you tonight for your memoirs", she said.
"We'll do it another time", said Sonic.
"But-but-but...we should at least finalize the cover", said Maribelle as she held up a black and white picture of Sonic wearing a turtleneck sweater, "And besides, it's opening night, so the theaters will be pack! Wouldn't you rather go see the movie on a day where the theaters won't be packed with people?"
Sonic looked at Turbo, "She's got a point, son. Plus, we should wait until your Mom comes home with your brother and sister, then we can all go see it as a family. It wouldn't be fair if we left them out", he said.
"Oh, okay. I understand", said Turbo in disappointment.
"Fantastic! Let's all have a drink before we do anything else", said Maribelle as she held up two glasses of orange soda. Wondering how she got them so fast, Sonic and Turbo took the glasses and drank the soda.
"You know, we've been spending a lot of time together. You should take the rest of the day off", said Sonic as he took another sip of his drink.
Maribelle laughed, "Hah! No way! I want to spend all my time with you. And I know just how to do it", she said in an almost evil manner.
Just then, Sonic heard a thump. He looked to see Turbo slumped over on the grass, completely unconscious. Before Sonic could check on him, he suddenly felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground as everything went dark.
An hour later, Sonic opened his eyes, looking at a ceiling fan with blue blades that resembled his quills. He then noticed several photos of himself and a cardboard standup of himself. Directly in front of him, in a cage, was his now awake and terrified son.
Sonic then noticed not only Maribelle, who was giving him a creepy smile, but also that he was in a cage of his own.
"What the...? What the heck is going on here?!", he shouted.
"Oh good, you're both awake! Now we can be a happy family together!", said Maribelle with a creepy smile.
"What the heck are you talking about?", said Sonic.
"Dad, when I woke up, she told me to start calling her "Mom" and that I should forget about my Mom!", Turbo said in a scared voice.
Sonic looked at him like he was crazy, "Wait...what?", he asked in disbelief.
Maribelle laughed, "That's right! I'm so lonely! I don't have family and I'm single and almost in my thirties! I want a happy family, and what better one to have than with my idol?! I'll be the envy of all your fans!
"Oh, and don't worry about your other two children. Once that homewrecker comes back with them, I'll run her out of town and then I can be your new wife and mother to your children! Isn't that exciting? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna make my new husband and son dinner!", she said manically before leaving the room.
Sonic looked towards Turbo, who looked around in fear. "Dad...this lady is crazy! I'm really scared!", the young hedgehog said as he tried not to cry.
"Don't be scared, all I have to do is change into my werehog form and I'll be able to bust us both out of here. Then, we can go to the police", Sonic reassured.
He then transformed into his werehog form and tried to break his way out of the cage, but it held strong and all he was doing was shaking it around. This caused the shelf to shake, knocking the pictures over.
"What was that?!", Maribelle called out.
"Oh no!", Sonic mumbled. Panicking, Sonic quickly stretched his arm out through the bars of the cage, setting up the pictures before moving back into the sitting position he was in when he first woke up.
Upon returning, Maribelle stared at Sonic, who had a nervous smile on his face. She looked over at the shelf and then discovered that one of the pictures has been moved.
"The last picture always faces south-east. This is facing south-west. You tried to escape!", she said angrily.
"Escape?! No, no no. I-I was just trying to make myself comfortable in my new home, gotta get ready for my new life with my...new...wife...", Sonic said. He had to fight to keep himself from barfing when he called Maribelle his new wife, just the thought disgusted him on a visceral level.
Though, it did seem to satisfy Maribelle at least. "Well, we're gonna have to schedule you for the groomers because that shaggy doggy fur of yours is gonna be a shedding mess!", she said.
Maribelle then gestured to the soup taurine she held in her hands, "Well, time for dinner! But since you've been naughty, you'll have to eat it off one of my collectible bowls", she said as she set the bowls down and began ladling soup into them.
She pushed one over to Turbo, who started eating, before turning to Sonic. "But collectible dishes aren't food-safe. They aren't food-safe!", he said.
Maribelle glared at him, "Don't matter! I'm your new wife, and you're gonna love my dinners!", she shouted at him angrily.
"My actual wife makes better food than you, and she's not a psychopath! She didn't even act like this when she used to be obsessed with me!", Sonic angrily shouted back.
Suddenly, the two were interrupted by the sound of retching. They turned to see that Turbo was vomiting, that was when he started wheezing and violently coughing.
"What the heck is going on with him?", asked Maribelle.
Sonic looked closely at his son and that was when he noticed that the skin on his muzzle was very pale and lips were turning blue; he looked down at his bowl of soup.
"What is this soup!? What did you put in it!?", he asked frantically.
"It's my favorite dish: peanut soup with fufu and fish! It's super yummy and super healthy too--"
"PEANUT SOUP?! MY SON IS ALLERGIC TO PEANUTS!", Sonic suddenly screamed.
Maribelle gasped in horror as she dropped the soup taurine, spilling it onto the hardwood floor.
"D...Dad, I-I...can't...breathe...!", Turbo gasped as he held his throat like he was choking.
Sonic felt his heart race as gut twisting fear ripped through him like a raging tornado. "He's going into anaphylactic shock, he needs his EpiPen! I carry one in my shoulder bag along with my phone and wallet, you have to get it for me!", he shouted at Maribelle.
She turned around to face him, "No way! If I bring you your bag, you'll take out your phone and call the cops on me! No, I'm not letting that happen! You're my family now!", she shouted.
Sonic then became absolutely livid when he saw Turbo drop to the ground, struggling to breathe. "IF MY SON DOESN'T GET THAT EPIPEN, HE IS GOING TO DIE! IF THAT HAPPENS, I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU! I WILL HATE YOU FOREVER!", he screamed furiously with a few werehog growls leaking through.
Maribelle was suddenly scared by his outburst, she was really terrified that he'd call the police and ruin her chances of having a happy family but she didn't want Turbo to die due to his allergic reaction. She couldn't live with that blood on her hands.
She ran out of the room and came back with a set of keys and Sonic's shoulder bag, she used the keys to unlock both cages. Sonic burst out and snatch the bag from her, reaching inside and pulling out an EpiPen Jr (epinephrine for children).
He then gently pulled Turbo out of the other cage, his lips and throat completely swollen, and jabbed the EpiPen into the middle of his outer thigh, I injecting the epinephrine. Slowly, the swelling began to go down but Turbo didn't wake up.
"Turbo? Turbo! Come on, son! Please wake up! Please!", Sonic said desperately as he fought back his tears.
After a few minutes, Turbo let out a cough as he slowly opened his eyes.
"Dad?", he said in a quiet voice.
Sonic breathed a sigh in relief as he held his son in his massive werehog arms, Maribelle watched the whole scene while smiling. "I'm so glad that crisis was adverted, now we can be a happy family. And I'll remember not to make dishes with peanuts in them", she said.
Sonic glared at her as he reached into his shoulder bag and pulled out his phone, revealing that the police department was currently on the line. Maribelle gasped in shock, "What?! When?! How?! You promised!", she shouted.
"I didn't promise you anything! You really thought that while I was reaching around for the EpiPen, I wasn't going to dial 911 on my phone? I couldn't speak to them, but they heard everything. And now, I'm pretty they'll hear me as I say my son and I were kidnapped by some crazy goat lady", said Sonic.
Just then, the front door of the house burst open as a group of police officers rushed in. They came over to the room, where they tackled Maribelle to the ground and handcuffed her.
As the cops lifted her off the ground, Maribelle had a manic expression on her face. "I can't believe I've had the cops called on me by Sonic the Hedgehog...this is the greatest day of my life!", she said.
Sonic looked at Maribelle with a deadpan expression, "Maribelle, if it's not already clear, you're fired!", he said.
[Time Skip]
When Amy found out what happened, she took Speedy and SJ, and hopped on the next flight back home. She was relieved to see that her husband and son were alright.
Sonic decided to press charges against Maribelle because her recklessness nearly killed Turbo, not to mention she was clearly insane. After seeing Sonic happily embracing his wife, Maribelle had a mental breakdown but she completely shut down, not talking anymore.
She was declared clinically insane and sent to a mental institution abroad, far from Sonic and his family, not that he'd have to worry about seeing her ever again because she was never getting out.
Sonic and Amy were discussing what happened as they walked home with their children, "Man, that sounded like an absolute nightmare! Glad it's all over", said Amy.
"That's right, and I learned to keep a healthy relationship with my fans", said Sonic.
Just then, a hippie looking Mobian otter walked up to Sonic. "Dude, you're Sonic right? Can I like, have your autograph, man?", he asked in a chill voice.
Sonic suddenly changed into his werehog form, jumped in front of his family and roared in the guy's face. The otter got scared and ran away screaming; Sonic then turned around to see Amy and his children looking at him in confusion.
"Sorry, just...feeling a little overprotective right now", Sonic said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head.
[The End]
