Christmas was over, and everyone had gone home with their gifts from their secret Santas. Charlie Brown was lying in bed, thinking about the wonderful Christmas party that Janice threw that year.

"That Christmas party was wonderful." Said Charlie Brown. "Heather was there, and I got the same thing I gave her for her birthday. Plus, there was that fun dance we all did. Well, we have the New Year to look forward to."

Snoopy had just as much fun as Charlie Brown. His siblings came over, Fifi was there, Woodstock was there, because where would Snoopy be without his little avian pal? And the best things to happen to Snoopy on any Christmas; Lila was there, and she'd adopted Belle, which meant that Snoopy would be able to see his sister more often.

Snoopy was on top of his doghouse, while his brothers and other sister went inside his doghouse.

The next morning, while Charlie Brown was still sleeping, Sally burst in excitedly.

"Happy New Year, Big Brother!" shouted Sally.

Charlie Brown was so surprised by his wake-up call, he jumped out of bed.

"The New Year has arrived, Big Brother!" explained Sally.

"Sally! New Year is not for another five days!" said Charlie Brown.

"April Fools!" smirked Sally.

"April Fools?! It's December!" Charlie Brown explained.

"Oops! Silly me! Because I've just had the most brilliant idea, Big Brother!"

"Whatever brilliant idea my baby sister has, it's bound to end up being a disaster."

"We're gonna throw a party! And you are gonna help me, Big Brother!"

"Throw a party?! Good grief! Well, at least I don't have an assignment to do this Christmas break." Charlie Brown said, remembering Peppermint Patty's New Year party.

Sally went to her room, and thought about how to organise hers and Charlie Brown's New Year party.

"This is gonna be the best New Year party ever! I'm gonna invite everyone!" Sally said.

Sally thought about the song For Auld Lang Syne.

"Hmm….. Should old acquaintance be forgot….. nah. I can reword it better."

Sally sat on her bed, thinking about ideas on how to reword the New Year song.

Charlie Brown was preparing Snoopy's breakfast. Unfortunately for him, he had to prepare for seven dogs. Meaning more dog food is used up.

"Good grief! The more dogs are in my yard, the more dog food I have to use up!" sighed Charlie Brown.

Sally was up in her room, making some ideas for her New Year party.

"Oh, I can't wait to invite my sweet babboo to this party!" smiled Sally.

The telephone rang, and Sally went to answer it.

"Hello." Said Sally.

"I am NOT your sweet babboo!" shouted Linus.

"Not you, Linus! I'm talking about my other sweet babboo."

"Oh. That's alright then." Linus said solemnly.

"Oh, Linus. Don't hang up yet."

"Why? What do you want, Sally?"

"I was about to phone you to tell you….."

"Tell me what?"

"I'm going to throw a party!"

"A New Year Party?"

"That's right, Sweetie!"

"I am not your sweetie! Anyway, I'll have to tell Lucy and Rerun." Linus said.

"Alright. Just let me know if you're coming. Alright! Bye!" Sally said before hanging up.

After Sally hung up on Linus, Charlie Brown was ready to phone Heather to tell her about his New Year party.

"Come on, Charlie Brown!" he said to himself.

But Charlie Brown was rather nervous.

"No! No, Charlie Brown! You managed many times! You can do it!"

Charlie Brown picked up the phone and dialled the numbers. The phone rang, but Charlie Brown didn't call Heather. He ended up calling Marcie.

"Hello! This is Marcie C. Johnson speaking!"

"Marcie?! Good grief! I phoned the wrong number!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.

"Is that you, Charles?" asked Marcie innocently.

"Er, yes. It is."

"I bet you phoned my number by mistake. I bet you tried to phone Peppermint Patty. Since she's staying with me while her dad's out during Christmas break, I'll put her on for you."

"Wait! Marcie!" Charlie Brown called.

Peppermint Patty walked up to Marcie, who was about to hand the phone to her.

"It's Charles, Sir. He was trying to phone you."

Marcie put Peppermint Patty on the phone, and Peppermint Patty answered.

"Hiya, Chuck!" Peppermint Patty answered. "Did you call me to ask if I'm planning a New Year party?"

"No. In fact, Sally's throwing a party of her own at our place. So…."

"If that's the case, I would love to attend, Chuck!"

She turned to Marcie.

"Did you hear that, Marcie?"

"A New Year party at Charles' place? Tell him I'll be there, Sir!" Marcie answered.

"Marcie says she'll be there too." Peppermint Patty added.

"That'll be wonderful! See you there!" Charlie Brown said.

Charlie Brown hung up, and walked over to Sally, who was just making a list of what to have at her New Year party.

"What are you doing, Sally?" asked Charlie Brown.

"I'm writing the supplies we need for our party, Big Brother. Who was that on the phone?"

"I tried to phone Heather, but I accidentally phoned Marcie, and invited her and Peppermint Patty."

"You're too wishy-washy, Big Brother." Sally said solemnly.

"Wait a minute! She lives right across the street!" Charlie Brown remembered.

Charlie Brown walked right across the street to tell Heather about his New Year party, and rang the doorbell. But it wasn't Heather who answered the door. It was her mother.

Charlie: Hello. Is Heather home?

Mrs. Wold answered no.

"She isn't? She's taking Henry for a stroll? Well, when she gets home, tell her Charlie Brown's throwing a New Year party at his place. Well, actually, it's my sister Sally's idea. Thank you. Goodbye."

Charlie Brown walked away, feeling rather relieved.

"Phew! I almost forgot Heather lived across from me."

Marcie and Peppermint Patty, knowing that Charlie Brown was throwing a party at his place, went downtown to purchase some supplies and decorations.

"It's hard to believe that Charles will be throwing a party at his place, isn't it, Sir?"

"Hope it makes up for the New Year party we threw once."

"We'll still be able to play party games there, won't we, Sir? After all, Charles did have that War and Peace assignment to do, that's why he didn't dance with you, Sir."

"Marcie, while we're shopping for supplies and decorations, now is not the time to call me 'Sir'."

"Anything you say, Ma'am."

Peppermint Patty simply sighed at this.

Linus was sitting on his bed, cuddling his security blanket, just as the telephone rang.

"I'll get it!" Linus called.

Linus ran toward the phone, only to find that Lucy had beaten him to it.

"Hello? Yes, he's here." Said Lucy.

Lucy held out the telephone to Linus.

"Your girlfriend's on the phone!"

"Oh no!" sighed Linus, worried it'd be Sally.

Linus picked up the phone.

"Sally, if you call me your sweet babboo again!"

"Sally? No! It's not Sally. It's Janice."

"Oh. Sorry, Janice." Said Linus. "It's just my sister. She just mocked me as usual."

"Well then, Linus. I've been thinking about throwing a New Year party at my place." Said Janice.

"Actually, Janice. Sally told me that she's throwing a party at her place." Said Linus.

"Charlie Brown's throwing a party at his place? Well, tell him I'll be there." Janice said.

"It's basically his sister's party, but I'll tell him anyway."

"Great! See you at the party, Linus."

Linus hung up in a dreamy manner. He was pleased that he would be spending New Year with Janice.

Later that day, Heather returned from taking her brother for a stroll, and in the kitchen, her mother was calling out to her.

"Come on, Henry. Our mom's calling us." Heather said to her brother.

Heather went into the kitchen where her mother was.

"Charlie Brown was here?"

Mrs. Wold answered yes, and that a New Year party was being thrown at his place.

"Charlie Brown's throwing a New Year party at his place? But was his sister's idea? Well, I would love to go! It's right across the street, so no trouble for me."

The next day, Charlie Brown remembered the New Year party would include dancing and music, so he decided to head on over to Emily's place and practice dancing in case he had to dance with Heather. Charlie Brown reached Emily's place and rang her doorbell. Emily answered it.

"Hello, Charles. What are you doing here?" said Emily.

"Hi, Emily. I've come to practice my dancing." Said Charlie Brown.

"Dancing? What for?" asked Emily.

"You see, my sister is throwing a party on New Year's Eve, and there's going to be some dancing." Said Charlie Brown.

"Dancing? Well, tell your sister I'll be there, Charles."

"I will, but first, let's dance."

Inside Emily's house, Charlie Brown stood in front of Emily, and Emily prepared to show him some dance moves.

"I want to show you the FoxTrot, Charles." Emily explained.

"Since I have no assignments to do this break, this is still better." Said Charlie Brown.

"Slow…. Slow… quick quick! Slow…. Slow… quick quick!"

"How about Fast fast, good grief?" sighed Charlie Brown.

Meanwhile, Heather went over to the Brown place and knocked on the door. Because Charlie Brown was over at Emily's, Sally opened it.

"Hello, Sally. Is your brother home?" asked Heather.

"No. He's over at Emily's. Wants to practice some dancing." Said Sally.

"You mean to tell me there'll be dancing here? That'll be wonderful! When Charlie Brown gets home, tell him Heather Wold will be there." Heather said happily.

"I'll remember, Heather. For now, I have to continue making arrangements for the party." Said Sally.

"You do that, Sally. Bye! See you at the party!"

After Charlie Brown had finished dancing with Emily, he went home to see Sally still making arrangements for her New Year party.

"Oh. Hey, Big Brother!" said Sally.

"Hi, Sally." Charlie Brown said.

"Heather just came over, and she said….."

"Yes?"

"She'll be here."

"Really? Wow! This'll be the best New Year Celebration ever!" Charlie Brown cheered.

"Anyway, Big Brother. I have to continue with the preparations. Next time you go out, tell everyone to come."

"I can't tell everyone, but I'll see what I can do."

Meanwhile, over at Schroeder's place, Schroeder was playing the piano, while Violet rested at the end.

"Schroeder. I'm throwing a party at my place on New Year's Eve. And I was wondering if you'd like to go." Asked Violet.

"Well, that depends. Is anyone else throwing a New Year party?" asked Schroeder.

Violet was just about to answer when Lucy barged in.

"Violet?! What are you doing here?" exclaimed Lucy.

"Asking Schroeder if he'd like to go to my New Year party." Said Violet.

"Forget your New Year party. Charlie Brown is throwing one at his place!" said Lucy.

"Charlie Brown?" Violet quizzed.

"Well actually, his sister is throwing it." Lucy said solemnly.

"In that case, forget mine! I'm going! I don't care if it's Charlie Brown's place." Violet said excitedly.

"Charlie Brown's place? Well, tell Charlie Brown and his sister I'll be there too!" Schroeder said happily.

Snoopy went inside to see Charlie Brown and Sally talking about their New Year party.

"Hey, Big Brother!" said Sally. "Do you know the words to the song that's sung at the beginning of the new year?"

"Of course!" Charlie Brown said, and then sang;

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?"

"Look at my words for our party." Said Sally.

Sally handed the sheet to Charlie Brown, and Charlie Brown read…..

"One thing must never be forgot, Sally's party was a blast.

One thing must never be forgot this one won't be her last."

"Good grief! Seriously, Sally?" sighed Charlie Brown.

"Of course, Big Brother. I know this party will be a blast!"

"Well, let's sing it as the second verse." Charlie Brown decided.

Snoopy overheard what his owners were saying, and knew just what to do. He walked over to Lila's new house to try telling her all about it.

Because Snoopy couldn't speak human words, he had to tell Belle. Snoopy knocked on Lila's door, and Lila opened it.

"Snoopy! Hello!" said Lila.

Snoopy mimed what he was trying to say.

"You want to see Belle, do you. I'll get her."

Then Lila called out to Belle.

"Your brother's here!"

Belle overheard Lila and was excited. She ran to the front to see Snoopy.

"Ooh!" Belle cooed.

"So you're trying to say that Charlie Brown's throwing a party at his place? Well, I'll be there!" Lila said excitedly.

"Yay!" Snoopy cheered.

Lila leaned down to hug Snoopy. And Snoopy hugged back, knowing his old owner would be coming to the New Year party.

New Year's Eve had finally arrived. And Sally was still making final preparations. Linus was there too. He and Rerun were blowing up balloons, as was Lucy. While Lucy and Linus blew up round balloons, Rerun blew them up in cubes.

"Rerun! Balloons aren't supposed to be cubes! They're supposed to be round!" sighed Linus.

"Let me show you, Rerun." Lucy explained.

Lucy picked up a red balloon, showed Rerun, and carefully blew it up, resulting in a spherical shape.

"Now you try." Lucy said.

Rerun picked up another balloon and took Lucy's words into mind, but he blew it up into a cube.

"Aaugh!" Lucy groaned.

"What's going on here?" asked Sally.

"Rerun keeps blowing balloons up into cubes!" sighed Lucy.

"Good grief!" said Sally. "Oh well. Time for the final preparations. Now, what to wear? I know! I'll wear a bow in my hair for this party!"

Sally went up to her room to find the right bow to wear in her hair. First, she tried on a blue bow.

"Nah. Too cold."

Sally then tried on a dark purple bow.

"Blegh!"

After that, Sally tried on a pink bow.

"Eureka! It matches my dress! Now, all I have to do is wait for our guests to arrive, and on the stroke of midnight, we sing my New Year song."

As Sally was about to continue preparing, her alarm clock struck 12, and there, on top, was Woodstock, tweeting like a cuckoo. Sally was so surprised, she let out a scream, thinking it was midnight already.

"Oh. Still broad daylight. Oh well, when the clock strikes 12 tonight, we sing."

It was soon night time. And both Peppermint Patty and Marcie were making their way to Charlie Brown's house for the New Year party.

"It's a good thing Charles invited us to the New Year party, isn't it, Sir?" said Marcie.

"We did invite him to my place," said Peppermint Patty. "it's only fair he invites us."

"I just hope he's more cheerful here than he was at our party, Sir." Marcie said.

"There should at least be fun and games at this party." Peppermint Patty added.

"Could there be Musical Chairs at this party, Sir? But remember, don't cheat this time, Sir."

"I promise, Marcie."

Over at the Wold place, Heather was preparing to go to Charlie Brown's place when her mother told her to take Henry.

"Yes, Mom? Take Henry with me? Well….. alright then."

Heather went to get her brother and take him to Charlie Brown's place. She placed Henry in the stroller and walked him across the street.

"You'll be spending your first New Year at Charlie Brown's place, won't you, Little Brother?" Heather said to her little brother.

Henry covered his eyes.

Over at the Brown place, many guests were already there. Schroeder was playing his piano, Pig-Pen was playing his double bass, Franklin was playing his guitar, Snoopy was playing the trumpet, Woodstock stood on top of Snoopy's head, Olaf playing his jug, and there, dancing, were Violet, Shermy, Patty S., Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Sally, Linus, Lucy, Frieda, Five, Three, Four, Harold Angel, Floyd, Tapioca Pudding, Lila, Rerun, Katie the Little Pigtailed Girl, Emily, Charlotte Braun, Lydia, Eudora, Belle, Spike, Marbles, Rover, and Molly. But someone was missing….

Charlie Brown was sitting on the couch, waiting for Heather to arrive.

"Where could she be?" wondered Charlie Brown.

Just then, the doorbell rang.

"Oh!"

Charlie Brown nervously walked to the door in hopes it would be Heather. He opened the door, and…..

"Heather! You're here!"

"Hello, Charlie Brown! Hope you don't mind me bringing my brother over too." Heather said.

"Not at all! Everyone's here!" said Charlie Brown.

"Everyone?" quizzed Heather.

"Well….. not exactly everyone. Well, come on in."

As Heather walked in with Henry, the next person to come was Peggy Jean.

"Peggy Jean?! Wh-what are you doing here?" asked Charlie Brown.

"Heard from a friend of yours there'd be a party here, Brownie Charles." Peggy Jean said.

"Well. Come on in, Peggy Jean. Plenty of food and games for all." Said Charlie Brown.

As Peggy Jean walked in, the next person to arrive was…

"Mimi?" Charlie Brown answered.

"Hi, Charlie Brown." Said Mimi. "I heard from Heather you'd be having a party here."

"Well actually, it's my sister's party." Charlie Brown explained.

"I asked my folks to drop me over here for the party." Said Mimi.

"That's great. Come on in, Mimi."

The next person to arrive was someone Charlie Brown had never seen before. This was a girl dressed with long dark brown hair with a pink bow in it, two-tone blue dress, dark blue socks, and white sneakers.

"Hello. Who are you?" wondered Charlie Brown.

"I'm Truffles."

"Oh. Er…. I'm Charlie Brown. I like your name."

"Thanks, Charlie Brown. My grandfather calls me Truffles because I'm as rare as a truffle."

"Huh?! Is that?!" Linus pondered.

Linus went to the front door and saw…..

"Truffles!"

"Linus!"

"Wait! You mean to tell me…" Charlie Brown stammered.

"Truffles and I go a long way back, Charlie Brown." Said Linus.

As Truffles walked in, Charlie Brown heard another guest knock on the door. Charlie Brown opened it and…..

"Fifi?" Charlie Brown quizzed.

There was Fifi, standing outside.

"Well, since you're here for both Heather and Snoopy, they're here. Come on in."

Fifi cheered and dashed to see Snoopy playing the trumpet. Schroeder, Pig-Pen, and Franklin stopped their music when Fifi ran to hug Snoopy. Snoopy hugged back, knowing the dog of his dreams was here.

"Another dog? Good grief!" sighed Lucy.

"Look on the bright side, Lucy." Said Frieda. "This dog does have naturally curly hair."

"I'm pretty sure her hair was just groomed to look like that." sighed Lucy.

"Come on, everyone! It's time for Musical Chairs!" Charlie Brown announced.

"Wow! Everyone's here! All except for someone. And who's that someone?" wondered Linus.

Just then, a knock on the door was heard.

"Is that the person?" Linus wondered.

Linus opened the door, and much to his excitement…..

"Janice!"

"Linus! Hello!"

Both Janice and Linus hugged, happy to see they're both there for the New Year celebration.

"Come on in, Janice. Plenty of fun for all." Said Linus.

"I'm all for it, Linus!" said Janice.

"Janice!" Charlie Brown called.

"Hi, Charlie Brown!" said Janice.

"You're just in time, Janice! We're about to play Musical Chairs!" said Charlie Brown.

"That's wonderful, Charlie Brown! I love Musical Chairs!" said Janice.

"Sally. Set up the chairs!" Charlie Brown told his sister.

"Anything you say, Big Brother. However, we need someone to turn the music on and off. You all know the rules."

"That sounds like fun! Come on, Sir! Let's start the game!" Marcie called to her sporty friend.

"Hold on! First thing's first!" Charlie Brown said.

Before Charlie Brown could start the game, a ring of the doorbell was heard.

"I'll get it!"

Charlie Brown went to answer the door, and much to his surprise, it was another girl. This girl had long blonde hair, and wore a yellow dress with an orange bow around it, a yellow headband in her hair, yellow socks, and black Mary Jane shoes.

"Hello. Who are you?" Charlie Brown said.

"My name is Mary. And you I assume are Charlie Brown."

"Hold on! Er….. how do you know me?" wondered Charlie Brown.

"Do you know a red-haired girl by the name of Heather?" asked Mary.

"I do. She's easily the most exquisite girl in the world." Said Charlie Brown.

"Hey!" Mary said, feeling a bit insulted. "Anyway, Charlie Brown. She told me you were throwing a party at your place."

"Actually, my sister is throwing it, but come on in, Mary." Said Charlie Brown.

As Mary walked in, there, she saw…..

"Heather?" Mary quizzed.

"Mary! You made it!" Heather cried.

Both Heather and Mary ran to hug each other.

"You mean?" Charlie Brown stammered.

"When I went to camp that Summer, Charlie Brown, I met Mary, and she advised me to appear in your life more often."

"Wow! You did that for me, Mary?" asked Charlie Brown.

"I sure did, Charlie Brown." Said Mary.

"Anyway, Mary, we were just about to play Musical Chairs. Come on!" Charlie Brown called.

Charlie Brown counted the guests and decided to make the game fair.

"There's thirty-two of us at this party, and we only have seven chairs here. So, let's play this game in groups of eight." Charlie Brown decided.

The first group of eight were Charlie Brown, Sally, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Linus, Schroeder, and Pig-Pen. Patty S. was in charge of the music. Patty put the needle onto the record player, and music started, and Sally started to sing.

"Hey!

Hey! It's time for Musical Chairs, come on, let's go!

Let's set up the chairs, now all in a row

You run around the chairs till the music stops

And you have to find a seat, now don't get caught

'Cause when the music stops..."

Music stops then starts again and Pig-Pen gets left out

"You can't be standing there

If you wanna be a winner at Musical Chairs

Now we take away a chair while you're running around

Don't let the kid in front of you get you down

Just listen to the rhythm now don't miss a beat

'Cause you don't wanna be the only one without a seat

'Cause when the music stops..."

Music stops then starts again and Marcie gets left out

"You can't be standin' there

If you wanna be a winner at Musical Chairs!

Now every time the music stops

You're gonna end up one chair short

And if you're boo-ga-looin when the music's gone"

Music stops then starts again and Lucy gets left out

"Sorry ya got to move on!"

Only Charlie and Sally Brown are still in

'Now it's the moment of truth, it's getting down to the wire

You're burning up inside with musical fire

You hover 'round each corner of that precious seat

Waitin' for the moment you can get off your feet

'Cause when the music stops..."

Music stops then starts again and Charlie Brown gets left out

"You can't be standing there

If you wanna be a winner

You got to be a winner

If you wanna be a winner at...

Musical Chairs!

Yeah!"

Snoopy walked up and presented Sally with a gold ribbon for winning the game.

"Good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown, having lost again.

The next group of eight was Violet, Patty S., Shermy, Heather, Franklin, Lila, Floyd, and Rerun. Schroeder was in charge of the music, and the first time the music stopped, Violet was out. After Violet, Shermy was out. The game went on until Heather and Rerun were the last two. And the last time the music stopped, Heather took the last chair, making her the winner.

"I won! I did it!" cheered Heather the Little Red-Haired Girl

The next group of eight were Tapioca Pudding, Truffles, Lydia, Mimi, Janice, Charlotte Braun, Eudora, and Peggy Jean. Heather was in charge of the music. The first time the music stopped, Lydia was the first one to be eliminated. When the music stopped again, Charlotte Braun was the next one out. The game continued until Janice and Peggy Jean were the last two in the game. When Heather turned off the music, Janice took the last chair, declaring her the winner.

"Yay! I win!" cheered Janice.

The last group of eight were Three, Four, Five, Frieda, Mary, Harold Angel, Katie, and Emily. Tapioca Pudding was in charge of the music. Once the music stopped the first time, Five was the first one to be eliminated. The music went on again, and once it turned off again, Four was out. The music went on and on until Emily and Mary were the last two in the game. The music turned off, and Mary quickly took the last chair, declaring her the winner.

"I don't believe it! I actually won Musical Chairs!" Mary cheered.

After their game, Emily went up to the record player to play a different song. This song was Let's Have a Party.

"Let's Have a Party with Charlie Brown and Snoopy!

We can go dancin' with Linus and Lucy.

Put on a smile and stay for a while!

Come on, Let's dance around with Snoopy and a Charlie Brown!

Woodstock will whistle, Sally will be singin'!

Marcie and Peppermint Patty will be swingin'!

Kick up your feet in time with the beat!

Come on let's dance around with Snoopy and a Charlie Brown!

Get up and dance!

We've got the beat! With Snoopy's happy feet!

We're dancin'! Dancin'! Dancin'! Dancin'!

With Snoopy's happy feet!

Schroeder and Violet are at the piano,

Pig-Pen, Shermy and Patty are on the go!

Let's not go home yet, if we stick around,

maybe that Heather Wold will come and dance with Charlie Brown!

Frieda and Franklin, Lila, Floyd and Molly!

Mimi, Eudora and Janice are jolly!

Let's not go home yet, if we turn around,

we will see Heather Wold dancing with her Charlie Brown!

Get up and dance!

We've got the beat! With Snoopy's happy feet!

We're dancin'! Dancin'! Dancin'! Dancin'!

With Snoopy's happy feet!"

Everyone continued to dance together. Marcie and Franklin danced together, Five and Frieda danced together, Heather and Charlie Brown danced together, soon, everyone danced separately.

"Andy and Marbles, even little Rerun.

Belle, Spike and Fifi…. Everybody's having fun!

Kick up your feet in time with the beat,

Come on let's dance around with Snoopy and a Charlie Brown!

Let's Have a Party with Snoopy and Charlie Brown!

We can hear sing from little Charlotte Braun.

Put on a smile and stay for a while!

Come on, let's dance around with Snoopy and a Charlie Brown!"

"I know! Let's play a game of Simon Says!" Linus decided.

"No. Let's all play Sally Says!" Sally decided. "Whenever I say 'Sally Says', you do as I say. Whoever does what I say without me saying 'Sally Says/ is out."

"Oh good grief!"

"Places, everyone!" called Sally.

Children: Sally's the boss, Sally's the boss!

So you gotta listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally's the boss, Sally's the boss!

So you gotta listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

And here's what Sally says!

Sally: Sally says: Put your hands on your head!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Sally says: Now spin around!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Now start running in place!

Truffles, Tapioca Pudding, Floyd, Five, Three and Four ran, so they're out.

Sally: Ah ah! I didn't say Sally says!

Kids: Sally's the boss, so listen to Sally, and here's what Sally says!

Sally: Sally says: spread out your arms!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Sally says: Shake them all about!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Now clap your hands!

Franklin, Lucy, Pig-Pen, Mimi, Eudora, Rerun, Schroeder and Marcie clapped, so they're out.

Sally: Ah ah! I didn't say Sally says!

Kids: Sally's the boss, so listen to Sally, and here's what Sally says!

Sally: Sally says: I really hate having homework! Yes I do!

Sally says: I'd like to have my way! Yeah, yeah, yeah!

Sally says: I'm gonna be of royalty, yes I am!

Sally says: I'm gonna marry Linus one day!

"Oh, good grief!" Linus moaned.

"Seriously, Sally?!" Harold Angel quizzed.

Sally: Sally says: Kneel on the ground!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Sally says: Now touch your shoulders!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Now stand up straight!

Charlie Brown, Linus, Janice, Heather, Peppermint Patty, Peggy Jean, Lila, and Shermy stand up, so they're out.

Sally: Ah ah! I didn't say Sally Says!

Kids: Sally's the boss, so listen to Sally, and he's what Sally says!

Sally: Sally says: Stand up this instant!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Sally says: Now bend your knees!

Kids: Listen to Sally! Listen to Sally!

Sally: Now nod your head!

Violet, Patty S., Katie, Mary, Emily, Lydia, Charlotte Braun, and Harold Angel do that and they're out, meaning Frieda won.

Sally: Ah ah! I didn't say Sally Says!

Kids: Sally's the boss, so listen to Sally, and that's all Sally says!

"We have our winner!" cheered Sally.

"Thank you, Sally!" smirked Frieda. "It was my naturally curly hair that helped me win."

"Good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown.

"Again with her naturally curly hair!" sighed Schroeder.

"Anything else we can do?" wondered Charlie Brown.

"Well….. I am hungry. Let's eat." Sally said.

"You're telling me, Sally." Janice replied.

It was time for the party goers to eat and drink. Snoopy helped himself to some cupcakes. He took nine. He was going to eat one, but he was going to give one each to his siblings and Fifi. But before he could do that, he walked over to Lucy and sniffed into her cup of root beer. Lucy noticed and pulled away.

"Ugh! My root beer has dog germs in it!" shouted Lucy.

Lucy ran away with her cup of root beer to wash it out.

"Good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown.

The New Year was just ten minutes away, the TV was on to show the ball drop, and Charlie Brown sat down on a dining chair, when who should sit beside him but Heather.

"Oh. Hi, Heather." Said Charlie Brown.

"Hi, Charlie Brown." Said Heather.

Charlie Brown just sighed dreamily.

"What's on your mind, Charlie Brown?" asked Heather.

"I've been thinking, Heather."

"Yes?"

"Of all the bad luck I've had over the years. However, ever since you came into the picture, my life has become luckier." Charlie Brown explained.

"Really?" quizzed Heather.

"This has easily been the best year of my life so far, Heather. And for the most part, it's all thanks to you. Being my desk partner at school, opening a psychiatry booth, helping Janice out with her fundraiser, giving me the best gifts for my birthday, your victory at the talent show, your sleepover when your brother was born, your Thanksgiving dinner, your Christmas gift this year. Thank you, Heather. Thank you for everything you've done." Charlie Brown explained.

"Oh, Charlie Brown! That is so sweet of you! My year's been so great too. Especially your Christmas gift to me and those birthday gifts you made for me. Plus, what you did at the fundraising dance, sacrificing your chance to dance with Janice just for me, as well as the compassion you showed for her while helping with her fundraiser. Thank you, Charlie Brown. Thank you for everything you've done for me since my arrival. Well, not just for me, but for everyone else." Heather said happily.

Unbeknownst to either of the two, there, watching from behind, was Mary.

"My plan's working perfectly." Mary thought. "My best friend is helping Charlie Brown!"

Mary walked behind them and…..

"Surprise!" called Mary.

Both Charlie Brown and Heather jumped in surprise, and landed on the floor.

"Mary?!" cried Heather.

"Come on, guys! There's only thirty seconds until the ball drop!" called Mary.

"Come on, Charlie Brown! Let's watch the ball drop together!" called Heather.

Heather grabbed Charlie Brown's left hand, and Charlie Brown, feeling light on his toes, walked with her.

Mary, Charlie Brown, and Heather went in front of the television, ready for the final countdown. Sally was with Harold Angel, Five was with Frieda, Three and Four, Linus was with Janice, Schroeder was with Lucy and Violet, Patty S. was with Pig-Pen, Marcie was with Franklin and Peppermint Patty, Rerun was with Katie, Snoopy was with Fifi and Woodstock, and they were ready to count down.

"Here's to another year." Charlie Brown decided.

Fifteen!" Schroeder said.

"Fourteen!" said Franklin.

"Thirteen!" Lila called.

"Twelve!" called Rerun.

"Eleven!" added Frieda.

"Ten!" said Marcie.

"Nine!" Sally called.

"Eight!" Peppermint Patty shouted.

"Seven!" Lucy said.

"Six!" Linus chanted.

"Five!" Charlie Brown said.

"Four!" said Mary.

"Three!" Harold Angel added.

"Two!" Janice continued.

"One!" Heather finished.

And then…. The ball drop landed!

"Happy New Year!"

The cheers erupted from all over the Brown house as fireworks lit up the night sky, and balloons, confetti, and streamers fell from the ceiling. Linus and Janice hugged each other. Lucy and Violet both hugged Schroeder, much to his dismay. Sally hugged Harold Angel. Patty S. and Pig-Pen hugged. Peppermint Patty and Marcie held each other's hands and jumped for joy. Then, Marcie hugged Franklin. And best of all, Charlie Brown and Heather hugged each other.

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of Auld Lang Syne?

And days of Auld Lang Syne, my dear, and days of Auld Lang Syne!

We'll take a cup of kindness yet, for sake of Auld Lang Syne!

One thing must never be forgot, Sally's party was a blast!

One thing must never be forgot, this one won't be her last!

It's not Sally's last party, dear, this party was a blast!

We'll always have that kindness, dear, this party won't be her last!

Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of Auld Land Syne?

And days of Auld Lang Syne, my dear, and days of Auld Lang Syne!

We'll take a cup of kindness yet, for sake of Auld Lang Syne!"

Once the kids had finished singing, three little Woodstocks walked in, carrying signs. The first one carried "Year", the second one carried "New", and the third carried "Happy". Snoopy looked at them and growled at them, jumbling them correctly to say "Happy New Year".

"Hm." Snoopy said.

Lila walked towards Snoopy and hugged him.

"Happy New Year, Snoopy!"

Snoopy hugged Lila back.

Fifi ran to Snoopy and hugged him. Snoopy saw and kissed her left cheek. All of Snoopy's siblings followed suit. All dogs embraced each other, welcoming the new year.

Lucy was just about to kiss Schroeder when she noticed that Violet had beaten her to it.

"Good grief!" sighed Lucy.

Then, after he'd finished hugging Lila, Snoopy walked up to Lucy and kissed her right cheek. Lucy didn't notice this because she had her eyes closed. Because she thought Schroeder decided to kiss her, she sighed dreamily, not knowing it was Snoopy who kissed her.

Once the party was over, everyone got ready to leave. First, Schroeder, Lucy and Violet were out.

"Come on, Schroeder! I'll walk you home!" said Lucy.

"No! I'll walk him home!" added Violet.

"No fighting, girls! You can both walk me home." Schroeder said.

"Don't mind if I do, Schroeder." Smiled Lucy.

"Good grief!" sighed Schroeder.

As Schroeder, Lucy and Violet walked their way home, Lucy looked at Schroeder, and then Violet followed suit. Lucy kissed Schroeder's right cheek, while Violet kissed his left.

"Ugh! I've been kissed by two girls! Ugh!"

Schroeder ran away as fast as he could.

"Happy New Year, Schroeder!" called Lucy.

"Yes! Happy New Year!" added Violet.

Next, Frieda and Five left, along with Five's twin sisters, Three and Four.

"Did you enjoy my party?" asked Sally.

"It was fun." Said Frieda. "After all, I did win Sally Says, all thanks to my naturally curly hair."

"Come on. I'll walk you home, Frieda." Said Five.

"Well, goodbye, Sally." Said Frieda.

Frieda and Five held each other's hands and they both walked out of the Browns' house.

Marcie and Peppermint Patty both walked home.

"So, do you know when your dad will be home, Sir?" asked Marcie.

"He did tell me he'd be back tomorrow." Said Peppermint Patty.

"Stay with me one more night, Sir." Said Marcie.

"That's the plan, Marcie. And Marcie?"

"Yes?"

"Until we get back to your place, stop calling me 'Sir'."

"Anything you say, Ma'am."

Linus and Janice walked home. Linus had to walk Janice home before going home on his own.

"That party really was a blast, Linus." Said Janice. "All the dancing and the food, and the singing, and even the games!"

"I had fun too, Janice." Said Linus. "Well, at least Charlie Brown was inside this year."

Janice and Linus arrived at the Emmons place.

"Well, I'm home." Said Janice.

Janice kissed Linus' right cheek.

"Happy New Year, Linus!" called Janice.

Linus was so delighted, his face turned red.

The last guests to leave were Mary, Heather and her little brother Henry.

"Charlie Brown, this party really was a blast! For her age, Sally really knows how to organise parties. And best of all, it wasn't just you that made this party so great. My best friend Mary was here too! I told her to come here." Heather said.

"Well….." Charlie Brown stuttered.

"It was my idea to get Heather to appear more often in your life." Said Mary.

"Really?" quizzed Charlie Brown, already forgetting what Mary had said.

"Yes. I met Heather at summer camp." Mary explained again.

"We met that summer you first talked to me." Heather said.

"Wow!" Charlie Brown cried.

"Anyway, I have to go now. See you, Heather. Goodbye, Charlie Brown! It was a pleasure meeting you!" said Mary.

"Pleasure meeting you too, Mary!" Charlie Brown said.

"Bye, Mary!" added Heather.

Mary walked out into the dead of night, all the way home.

"What a fun party that was." Said Mary.

"Sally was right! Her New Year party was a blast." Said Charlie Brown.

"Well, Henry and I have to go home now, Charlie Brown. But one more thing before we leave. There's something I want to give you." Heather said.

"Yes?"

"This!"

Heather kissed Charlie Brown's nose. Charlie Brown was so surprised, he blushed. Redder than Heather's hair. Charlie Brown smiled his broadest smile.

"Oh! Er….. heh heh!" Charlie Brown blushed.

Then Heather finished with….

"Happy New Year, Charlie Brown!"
