Legion's Reign Season 02 Episode 03
Lightning Lad had been tossing in his bed in a cold sweat and juttet up in a hurry calling out "AYLA!" and breathing heavily starting to try to calm himself down and looked at the clock. He'd then headed into the shower and gotten himself cleaned up in dressed leaving the room.
Amalgam had been coming over saying "That must have been quite a nightmare." as Lightning Lad looked over at him "I've got superhearing, by the way you snore."
"The nightmares aren't new, but they have been more intense lately." Lightning Lad stated to him"
"Who's Ayla?" Amalgam questioned just who it was he'd been calling to when he'd jutted awake eariler.
"I think we're late for the briefing." He'd answered back not answering the question and instead had headed off to meet up with the others.
They'd gone into the cockpit and Bouncing Boy says "Okay we're just waiting for Shrinking Violet now."
"She'll be filling in for Albedo who is currently with Phantom Girl in talks to procure a new headquarters for us since our last place was so badly damaged." Malware 7 stated to them about why she was there "Let's see, replace A man with combat knowledge taught to him by the greatest heroes of his time and the single most powerful set of gauntlests in the galaxy possibly universe, for a girl with the power to shrink. Seems like a fair trade."
"Uh, hello I'm right here." The girl in question stated next to Malware 7 and returned to her full height stating "And for the record, I can do more than shrink."
"Sure you can." Mal stated in response before looking at the holomap in front of them "Now, onto business. Two weeks ago this space storm appeared in Upscan space, spectrology indicates a scan of pure energy. The storm's appearance has coinsided with the increased activity from the DOmniators. I have reason to believe that they want to harness the storm as a power source for a takion cannon."
"A weapon powerful enough to destroy cities, planets, wednesdays, y'know things like that." Bouncing Boy stated to them.
"The Domniators have long had the tech to create this weapon, but the energy needed to power it was purely theoretical. That was until this storm showed up. The plan is simple we find a way to disperse that energy field, whatever the cost." Mal then explained about what they were doing.
A set of eyes appeared and an echoing voice called out "Garth." making Lighning Lad shake his head and rub his eyes.
They'd all got to their stations and set to work with Bouncing Boy stationg "THe Domniators are making final preperations before fueling we need to disperse that energy field now. Lightning Land how are the scans going, anything we can use to make that happen?"
"There seems to be some sort of interference." Answered Lighting Lad as he continued to work on the system.
The eyes had appeared again with the voice craclking though stating "Garth." again before then adding "Help.. Me.. Garth."
"What?" He'd questioned shaking his head as he sat his hands on top of it adding "What's going on?" Before then flying on off out of the room for something.
Malware 7 had gone over to check out the scans to see what exactly is going on and we fade to Lightining Lad trying to gather himself as Amalgam had been walking past but stopped next to him.
"You look like you just saw a ghost." The man from the future stated to Lightning Lad who was standing up to look at him.
"Well I keep seeing something, either it's a ghost or I'm loosing it." He'd answered back in response to what he'd said.
Amalgam had now felt awkward and says "Well I was just on my way to get something to drink, kinda parchged."
Lightning Lad had looked out at the window and then turned to look at Amalgam over his shoulder stating "This energy cloud has brought us near the planet where my brother and I got our powers ten years ago. It's also where we lost our sister.. Ayla."
"You're not going to start crying are you?" Amalgam questioned not really knowing how to handle situations like this since he didn't do much of that in his time.
"I thought that's what's been causing my nightmares, but it's not just nightmares anymore she's.. Haunting me, telling me I didn't do enough that day and the worst thing about it is.. She's right." Lightning Lad stated as they'd hit some sort of turbulance and set off the alarms so they'd flonw back to the cockpit with the others.
"Whoa, that last hit knocked our weapons and engines offline." Shrinking Violet stated to them about what's going on.
"Dispersing the energy storm will have to wait, we're under attack by the Dominators." Mal called out stating what was going on right now.
"Not just the Dominators, Mekt, Validus, and the Destructo Bots." Bouncing Boy stated gesturing to his screen where you could see all of that.
"Destructo Bots, you mean Imperiex and the Dominion are working together?" Amalgam Questioned looking towards Malware 7.
"It would seem so." Mal answered back looking over at him as he'd continued to work the controls at the same time.
"Your brother just can't seem to stay out of trouble can he?" Bouncing Boy questioned looking over at Lightning Lad.
The five of them had gotten out of the ship and prepared to go and fight them and Amalgam began to fight against Validus. Bouncing Boy meanwhile had began handling some of the controllers. Malware 7 had started fighting against some of the Destructo Bots when a bigger one started to blast at him and he'd had to hold them of with a shield.
"A little help here would be appriciated!" He'd called out to his teammates as Shrinking Violet had come up behind him.
"Someone call for a little help?" She'd questioned flying up so that he could see her and then dodged the blast shrinking herself down and going into the bot frying it from the inside before coming back out laughing and giving a bit of a snort.
"Okay, that was kind of cool." Malware 7 stated pointing to what Shrinking Violet had just done as more bots came up behind them.
He'd then launched out metal tendrils and penetrated all the bots surrounding them sending a current through it that caused them all to blow up. We then see Lightning Lad blasting at some bots and turning to look for more as Mekt had flown down behind him.
"What up little bro?" He'd questioned as Lightning Lad looked surprised hearing his brother's voice.
Lightning Lad had turned towards his older brother saying "Mekt.. How do you justify working for a monster like Imperiex?"
"Easy, he's gonna win." Mekt stated as his eyes sparked with electricty before adding "And if you were smart you'd do the same. You know I'd look out for you."
"You'd look out for me Mekt, would this be like how you looked out for Ayla?" as his eyes and lightning bolt shaped scar under his right eye had started glowing with his own energy.
"She was my sister too Garth, and maybe she'd still be here if I didn't have to fIGTH THOSE BEASTS ALONE!" Mekt had then yelled out blasting at Garth in response to what he'd said.
Lightning Lad had dodged the blasts before sending one of his own as Mekt had created a shield with his lightning energy and the two continued to trade blows. With both of them firing on one another the lightning collided together and formed the shape of a girl making both of them stop at what they'd just seen.
"Good news Mekt, you're about to become an only child." A voice called out as Imperiex had appeared and aimed his repaired chest cannon at Lightning Lad.
He'd unleashed the blast and Lightning Lad tried to turn to escape with his right arm being blasted in the process as he'd cried out in pain skidding across the beam as it pushed past him. Lightning Lad had then flown down a bit grabbing where his arm should be as Mekt watched on in horror of what he'd just seen. Garth had let out a pained yell as the energy had seeped from his arm and blasted at literally anything and everything.
"His energy force is bleeding out!" Malware 7 called out to the others as the blast had also pushed back all of them as well as Imperiex.
Mekt had been using his own power to try to block the blast hitting him calling out "GARTH!" actually sounding concerned.
"Fall back we've done our damage." Imperiex then called out as he and the enemy team began to retreat, this had also included Mekt who still had a look of oncern but had still left anyway.
When the energy subsided Malware 7 was able to get close enough to put an energy shield around Lightning lad and Bouncing Boy questions "Should we persue?" looking at Amagalm.
"No, I'll destry Imperiex later, right now let's get him inside." Amalgam answered back starting to learn a bit more about this teamwork and comradery they'd been trying to teach him.
Fading to the inside of the ship Bouncing Boy says "Engines should be back online soon, how is he?" Talking to Amalgam who was watching through the window at what the others were doing.
"He'll survive but his arm took the brunt of the blast, it was damaged pretty bad." Amalgam answered back.
Moving in through the window we then see what Malware 7 and Shrinking Violet were doing as Mal holds out his hand asking "Electron Scalple." and continued working saying "If I don't get this circutry connected just right this cybernetic arm won't take."
"Maybe I can help." Shrinking Violet offered stating that she could probably help out with that problem.
"No offense but just because you can become the size of a Micro Circuit doesn't mean you know what to do with one." Mal answered back continuing to work on the arm as he does so.
"Okay, for your information I've studdied transneural protonix." She'd then stated annoyed at what he'd just said.
"Then you know the difficulty of attaching a titanium membrane to a neural shieth is"Matching mechanicla and bio impedences."" He'd started to state but she'd cut him off with the answer.
Pausing for a moment Malware 7 then says "Hop in." exciting Shrinking Violet as she'd jumped and started shrinking down and going inside and began to connect the nerve endings into the machine parts little by little.
She'd completed the task and flown back out as Mal had been monitoring everything and he says "Nicely done Vi." impressed with how she'd managed it.
Later on Lightning Lad had come to and Amalgam questions "Hows the new arm?" as the orange haired hero sits up to check out what he was talking about.
"It's not just a new arm it's the Cybernetic four thousand, it fires explosives charges, lasers, and of course lightning. All powered and inhanced by your own bio-electric energy." Shrinking Violet stated about the arm.
"Sweet." Lightning Lad stated before then feeling a powerful turbulance with the electrical energies of the storm going nuts around them.
They'd all flown back to the main cockpit as Mal calls out "We're getting some kind of sonic pules from the storm it's tearing the ship apart."
"It began happening when imperiex had started tapping it's energy." Bouncing Boy stated about what's happening too.
Shrinking Violet had gotten to a console and was trying to match the wave to find out what's going on "It's almost as if the storm is crying out for help." She'd then stated to them.
"Wait, are you saying that cloud's alive?" Lightning Lad questioned them while gesturing to the storm outside.
"It's a possibility, but if it's doing so it's not using any language we've ever encountered." Mal called out working on his end as well.
"Maybe it's burried in all the distortion. I'm removing all background noise and adjusting levels now." Shrinking Violet stated messing with the controls on her end.
"Seed it up by two hundred and thirteen percent." Mal called moving over next to her checking out the information.
Once they were able to get it clear there was a voice of a girl that had been.. singing? Ya that was definately sining as she'd been repeating "The Monkey rode on the rocketship, the rocketship, the rocketship. The Monkey rode on the rocket ship and bumped his head on the moon."
"The cloud is singing?" Amlagam questioned not understanding just what's going on right now as this was weird even for him.
"It's Alya." Lightning Lad told them looking over at the others before standing up and questioning "How is my sister's voice coming from that cloud?"
"It's possible that the lightning beast attack that infused you and your brother with powers phased he into a state of pure energy." Malware 7 told them as they listened to Alya repeating the song over and over again.
"Then she really is trying to reach me, I'm not crazy." Lightning Lad stated to them ready to do whatever it took to help.
"That last part is debatable I've seen you do some things that are pretty nuts." Bouncing Boy stated trying to help lighten the mood a little more.
They'd hailed Imperiex's ship hacking into the communications with Lightning Lad calling "Mekt, come in. Please come in."
Mekt had been surprised by this and says "Garth, youre alive." while walking closer to the screen to speak with them.
"Ya, hope that doesn't ruin your weekend, but more importantly so is Ayla!" His brother answered back telling them what's going on. "She's in that cloud, she IS that cloud. And if you don't stop powering that weapon she's going to die."
"You heard him, it's my sister." Mekt stated to Imperiex trying to pelad for him to stop what he's doing.
"Trade the universe for a little girl? Tempting, but no." Imperiex answered smashing the communications controls and cutting the feed.
"Hey, if we could recreate the circumstances of the original event and reverse it, couldn't we possibly phase Alya in instead of having to disperse her through the universe?" Shrinking Violet questioned.
"In theory, but we'll need Mekt's help and to disperse any of the storm that Imperiex has already contained." Mal answered back about what they'd have to do in order to manage that.
"Leave releasing the energy to me, breaking Imperiex's toys is one of my specialties." Amalgam stated in response stating that he'd help do that. "Bouncing Boy you're with me, Lightning Lad, get your brother and drag his ass back to the ship I don't care if he's kicking and screaming. You two will handle the colliding energies and Malware Seven, and Shrinking Violet work on the rest."
"Now you're sounding like a hero." Bouncing Boy stated over to Amalgam who'd let out a smirk hearing that.
"Don't break everything, we'll need the cannon in order to revive Ayla." Malware 7 told them stating not to toally destroy it and Amalgam nodded in response.
The three had left the ship and flown over to the cannon and Amalgam questions "You ready to give that new arm of yours a test run?"
Lightning Lad then smirked and blasted part of the cannon and tearing out a chunk of it as he'd done so. "Oh this is sweet." He'd stated and went to find Mek.
Amalgam had flown down the barrel of tha cannon with his energy around his fists breaking everything in his path inside it so that it wouldn't fire and meanwhile the others were fightining off Imperiex's troops.
"You're coming with me Mekt, like it or not." Lightning Lad told his brother ready for a battle if he'd have to fight his brother.
"If it's to help Ayla, then I'll do whatever you want. I screwed up pretty bad ten years ago, and I guess I've been screwing up ever since." Mekt stated taking the hood down off of his head showing that he was being honest. "I'm ready to put things right."
"What about your buddies?" Lightning Lad then questioned as he'd charged his powers just in case.
Mekt charged the energies into his fist and turned blasting Validus who'd been fighting with Amalgam and says "Let's considered that bridge burned."
They'd all returned to the ship once it was over and Malware 7 and Shrinking Violet had managed to set up everything.
"Alright, ready we can begin." Mal called out to the two inside a chamber letting them know that it was time to start.
Energy had gone through the circuitry of the cruiser and down to the two of them as that'd grabbed the other's hands and blasted at a spot on the ship that caused the energies to start to swirl around and took on a humanoid form. The form unleashed a pulse that knocked the two of them back and dispersed outside of the ship where the storm was finally gone.
They'd actually managed to do it as a little girl with the same orange hair as Garth questions "Mekt, Garth?" surprised as the two had ran over and she'd jumped into Garth's arms while reaching out to Mekt wanting to hug both of them which they'd both done.
"Once we're home I'm ready to face the consequences of my actions, when I get out I'm ready to return home and go straight." Mekt told them saying he was finally going to stop running and clean up his act.
