AN:This should be enough convincing argument to all of you non canon harry potter shippers out there and yes, I had to use the AI hyperwrite to write this to make it short, precise and to the point as i can't formulate my words correctly.
A Convincing Argument against Non-Canon Harry Potter ships.
Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley's romance is one that is rooted deeply in the dynamics of the wizarding world, their complementary personalities, shared experiences, and their mutual growth as individuals. The true magic of their relationship lies in how they seamlessly come together to form a powerful and enduring bond.
To start with, the chemistry between Harry and Ginny is palpable from the moment they meet. While other connections in the series may seem forced or superficial (such as Harry/Hermione or Ron/Lavender), the development of Harry and Ginny's relationship is natural and genuine. Their connection draws from their shared experiences of fighting against dark forces, dealing with high expectations, and reconciling their destinies with a sense of responsibility.
The pairing of Harry/Hermione is primarily friendship-based, lacking the romantic spark vital to a healthy relationship. As Hermione's muggle-born status attests to key concerns surrounding identity and prejudice throughout the series, she stands better suited to Ron, who evolves from an initially ignorant pureblood to a progressive ally – a testament to Hermione's influence.
Similarly, Ron/Lavender portrays itself as a fleeting teenage infatuation rather than genuine love. Ron's growth as a character is only achieved once he learns to appreciate true companionship over superficial attraction – a lesson manifesting in his eventual union with Hermione.
As for Draco/Ginny, this pairing is inherently flawed given Draco's deep-rooted prejudice against Muggle-borns and blood traitors – precisely what Ginny represents. Instead, Draco needs someone who aids his redemption arc under more neutral grounds, such as Astoria Greengrass. Additionally, the notion of Harry/Daphne or Harry/Astoria parallels Draco/Ginny for similar reasons: incompatible motivations that weaken both character arcs.
Harry/Luna has its merits but ultimately falls short on romantic grounds; Luna's whimsical nature may provide comfort to Harry in difficult times but cannot extend beyond a platonic connection. Likewise, Ginny/Neville and Ginny/Blaise are infeasible due to the lack of emotional chemistry and the absence of shared experiences that have helped shape Harry and Ginny's relationship.
Other combinations, like Ginny/Nott, Hermione/Ginny, and Ginny/Luna are forced and lack the strong narrative foundation seen in the Harry/Ginny romance. Through meaningful character development throughout the series, it is evident that any invidious comparisons to these pairings fall short.
Finally, while friendships are tested more than once in the series, romanticizing strong bonds like Harry/Ron or Harry/Draco unnecessarily complicates platonic relationships that reflect camaraderie and solidarity. By allowing these characters to maintain their distinct roles in Harry's life, each relationship can remain powerful without undermining the other.
As we take into account how the world of Harry Potter is shaped by these relationships and the complementary growth of characters involved, it becomes evident that Harry and Ginny's love story is one destined to endure. With their shared passion, resilience, compassion, and genuine attraction to one another, they remain the perfect match – an ideal embodiment of love within the pages of a timeless tale.
However yes based on JKR's interview is this area:
In an interview, J.K. Rowling did express some regret over pairing Hermione with Ron, suggesting that Hermione and Harry could have been a better match. However, she still maintained the Harry/Ginny relationship in the story. While her views may be considered flawed by some fans, she did not explicitly support a Harry/Hermione relationship while also supporting a Harry/Ginny relationship in the same interview.
However authors' note personally.
Dear Readers, now if you are into a harry/hermione ship based on the interview of JKR i ask you why are you into that more than the canon ship and remember the phrase every Men often fall in love with women who are similar to their mothers.
The saying about men falling in love with women who are similar to their mothers suggests that men tend to be attracted to women who resemble their mothers in terms of personality and sometimes appearance. The underlying psychological reason could be attributed to familiarity and comfort.
Comparing Hermione and Ginny with Lily Evans Potter, both women share some similarities with her. Hermione resembles Lily in intelligence, determination, and strong principles. Ginny, on the other hand, shares common traits such as courage, boldness, and a certain charm. However, neither Hermione nor Ginny is an exact match for Lily's personality as they both have their unique attributes.
In conclusion, both Hermione and Ginny have distinct traits that make them somewhat similar to Lily Evans Potter but not identical matches.
Also personally for against Harry/Hermione ship, remember thier full names.
Harry James Potter
Hermione Jean Granger
Now if Hermione did marry and lived in the wizarding world, but if they lived in the muggle world, well, let's just say they(the muggles in general), would assume that Hermione is a male to female crossdresssing harry james potter because of the similarity in initals and would it be confusing as hell with two individuals who share the same exact initials HJP(yes Granger-Potter would not be a thing as the Ministry would prevent that from happening in terms of the savior of the wizarding world's wife forcing the wife to go by the pureblood standards with no exceptions, why do you think Granger-Weasley was allowed because Ron is a sidekick that's why and not as important as the savior and if harry and hermione did get married and used the surname Granger-Potter, harry would lose all of his access to his family vaults no matter what even his own personaly trust vault he had all because he chose a hyphenated name and all at least that's how the ministry and the goblins seem to run things.)
Update to this thing, thank to the reveiwers,
I understand not understanding the confusion between characters and the soulmates, because it would be awkward and rare enough for people, for conversatives to 'assume' that Harry and Hermione are the same exact person, with a 'mulitple personality disorder' that Harry is the original personality while thanks to the abuse created the Hermione persona, i tend to think on things pyschologically, logical, along with trying to imagine a living with a person with the same exact initials as me, i can barely imagine that, now the reason some folks may work good with the same initials remember the thing or name method is based on the maiden name of the women in general and the man's surname as well, for example let's just my late great-grandparents on my mom's side.
My late greatparents, my mom's mom's mom and her husband are named Thurman Lee Sorrow and Mary Frances Sorrow nee Landers. (Landers is Mary's maiden name).
Thurman Landers.
Lee Landers
Thurman Lee Landers.
Mary Sorrow
Frances Sorrow
Mary Frances Sorrow.
That's one example of my relatives, now for my great grandparents on my father's sides.
My late greatparents through my fathers side specifcially my dad's dad's dad and his wife, are named Grady Lee Anderson and Rosa Lenos Anderson nee Brewer(Brewer is Rosa's maiden name.)
Grady Brewer
Lee Brewer
Grady Lee Brewer.
Rosa Anderson
Lenos Anderson
Rosa Lenos Anderson
(That's the 2nd example of my family the ones who have already passed and the same thing works for 'every' single one of my ancestral ancestors, not one thing out of place on how different Harry/hermione sounds, it just sounds weird to be honest, now if 'Harry' was a nickname for Hadrain, Harold, or Henry then yes I could see Harry ending up with Hermione but based on how i've read the books in 'context' 'as well as' 'in-between the lines' in order to understand the view points of the author in general and all. so that's the main reason as not of my family member share the same exact initials whatsoever.)
Repeating the naming Method for Harry/Hermione ship (using 'harry' as a nickanme, like how 'Ginny' is a nickname for Ginerva)
Harold Granger
James Granger
Harry Granger
Harold James 'Harry' Granger
Henry Granger
James Granger
Harry Granger
Henry James 'Harry' Granger.
Hadrian Granger
James Granger
Harry Granger
Hadrian James 'Harry' Granger.
Now see the naming method only works for a harry/hermione ship, if 'Harry' is a nickname not as his true name as it is in the books otherwise the title of the books would be Henry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone/Hadrian Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone/Harold Potter and the Sorcerer's stone, if Harry's name as 'harry' was in fact a nickname which it is not.
(repeating my profile area option for Harry/Hermione with Harry not as a nickname.)
Harry Granger
James Granger
Harry James Granger
Does it sound right to you, perhaps it might if you are from the Northern part of the us, but in the south not so much while Hermione would fit the Potter name but not vice versa 'unless' Harry is technically a nickname only then could a Harry/hermione ship truly work, and second the harry/hermione ship personally should only be able to work with a character death that has one or two of the main characters, the closet one i think off, is the story from Pottermum 'Beginning Again' where Ron dies, but has a harry/hermione and Ginny/Draco ship in the beginning but moves to a Harry/Ginny ship and Hermione/Draco ship in the ending having divorces which is not possible in the magical world, to be honest, but then again it's Pottermum's creation, i wouldn't be surprised if Hermione found a way to create a magical divorcing process to begin with as it would seem right up her ally to begin with as it would be unfair to stick with one person according to her views without an opportunity to escape and all. The problem with fanfictions who go into non-canon ships, they don't use 'filler chapters' to explain, how, why, and when the views of the characters change, as I don't see Molly nor Arthur allowing Ginny and Draco to marry based on Arthur's sole enemy as Lucius, I don't see Lucius ever agreeing to that either if he escaped Azkaban for a second time and was still alive and all, as well, too, I see both Lucius and Arthur wanting to murder the other persons child to prevent a Malfoy/Weasley marriage and all. at least that's how i've read the characters in the books at least. yes Arthur does seem to be the type the only reason i'm assuming Rose/Scorpius was able to get married was because he had to be adopted by Harry into the black family for certain blood curse reasons like Astoria's blood curse and all there for Scorpius would no longer be a Malfoy but a Black instead.
I don't mind non-canon ships as long as they fit the name method i've provided, the only single one for Harry that makes sense is Tracey Davis(yes Tracey Davis is a female witch especially according to the fandom character pages), and personally according to the picture, she looks like a female twin to Harry himself. This is without the nickname requirement, but i never would understand any other ship as it just doesn't have the same flair to it, now the second option for any non-canon ship to happen to go from non-canon to canon is to have one of the characters end up with the dark lords' diary instead, and thus presenting an opportunity for them to be together, now if ginny still ends up with the diary and is saved by harry then doesn't get together romantically with potter, or someone similar from americas then she would end up like a red headed female version of Tom Marvolo Riddle aka Lord Voldemort, but as a Dark Lady seeking revenge to those who have wrong her and her heart thus giving up on love forever. Read 'Harry Potter and the Otherside' from Max Fic and see what happens to Harry when an alternative version of harry turns out to be a dark wizard(in the later chapters). hopefully you'll understand, if not then please fell free to message me with questions in a numbered list format, as I can't understand messages nor reviews if they don't have questions within a numbered list as why i'm rambling on and on in order to prove my points now if Ron and Ginny died during the war instead of the known deaths, Ginny would takee either fred's place or the very least Colin's place in death and Ron would take Fred's death place for him, opening the possibility of Harry/Hermione ship is the only way i can see it happening only no other forms whatsoever, the second option is to have Hermione(or any of the non-canon shipping options) to be the victim of riddles diary instead, is the only other option if you want to keep ron and ginny alive of course.
i'm just saying. feel free to pm me with messages.
Message example.
saying 'I don't understand your point, can you please explain it to me better and here are my questions below:
1. Why are you so obsessed with canon ships beside the naming method of course?
and stuff like that of the example.
