Since she had left him, almost nine months ago, she had missed him. She had missed him very much. She had spent the last eight months or so in her bed, crying over him, looking at pictures of the two of them, crying over him again. Because, the truth was, she had never wanted to leave him.

[Flashback]

Lily was at her mother's for the holidays. It had been some days she had been throwing up almost every morning. She was starting to wonder what was happening to her. After a week she realised that it was absolutly not normal. But she wasn't feeling physically ill. Eventually, she thought about using a pregnancy test before taking an appointment with a doctor.

She restained a scream. The stick presented a plus signe. The pregnancy stick was positive. She was pregnant. She didn't know what to think about it. Because the truth was, she really loved Rufus and she was sure she wanted to have kids with him. But was she ready, were they ready, to have one now? She throw the test away and tried to hide it a bit, not wanting her mother to find out. She wanted to figure this out with Rufus first.

But the next morning, Cece Rodes, her dear mother, woke her up, calling her. Or rather shouting at her. She had found the test. And she was pissed off.

"Why didn't you tell me?", she asked, very calmly.

She was not screaming. For someone who was this furious, she seemed cool. But Lily knew better. This peacful tone was even worse. Cece wasn't going to let this go.

"I don't know, Mother. Maybe I wanted to talk to my boyfriend about it first!", Lily replied. She, unlike her mother, wasn't good at keeping her composure.

"No."Cece replied. "You're not telling him about that.

"Yes I am. He is my boyfriend, this is about him and I. This is our choice to make, not yours."

"Okay then. I'll let you decide. But just so you know, if you choose to tell him, that means you choose him over me. Then you lose your inheritance." Cece was now having fun. She loved to be in control of things like that. But Lily wasn't working with it. She was actually starting to lose it.

"You really do think I care more about money than about the love of my life? That's not knowing me well but to think that!" She was ready to leave and was already thinking about slamming the door behind.

"Lilian, you want to play this way? I can do it too. If you don't break up with him tomorow, and, I insist, without telling him why nor about the baby, I'll find him and ruin his life. Ruin his career." Cece smiled. She really loved to have that kind of power over her daughter. She knew she had won.

Lily loved him too much to be the reason his life would fall apart. She slowly left the room, crying to herself.

The next day, she came to his place. He wasn't there. She had written a note. A break-up note. And she wanted to let it on his pillow. She knew it was the worst thing to do but she was scared she would fail leaving him if she saw him again. And she couldn't let that happen. She loved him so much she could not bear to destroy his life like this. His music career was very important to him and she knew her mother well enough to know she would carry out her threats.

She left the letter, and exited the room, tears rolling down her cheeks.
