It was the last school day before Christmas break. All the students in Charlie Brown's class were sitting, waiting for Miss Donovan to make her announcement.
"Aw! Not an assignment for Christmas break!" groaned the students.
Miss Donovan explained that it was going to be a good project.
"Yay! It's a secret Santa project!"
Miss Donovan told everyone to go and draw a name. There was a fish bowl on a stool with small sheets of paper placed inside. Whichever name the student picked out would be giving a special Christmas gift to that very someone without telling them it's from them, and the recipient has to guess who the gift is from.
Over in Linus' class, Miss Othmar had the same assignment for her students.
"Yay! We get to be secret Santas!" cheered the students.
Miss Othmar called Sally out first.
"Yes, Miss Othmar!" said Sally.
Sally walked over to the fish bowl to draw out a name. Whatever name she would draw out, she had to give to that person without telling them she'd be giving it to them.
"Oh, please be my sweet babboo! Please!" thought Sally.
Sally pulled out a piece of paper, and read what it said.
"Linus van Pelt." Sally thought. "Yay! I'm the secret Santa of my sweet babboo!"
Linus was next. He walked over to the bowl and pulled out a piece of paper. Linus read it.
"Janice Emmons." Thought Linus. "I don't believe it! I'm the secret Santa of Janice! Now, what kind of gift could I get for her?"
Back at Charlie Brown's class, Violet was the first one up. She walked over to the bowl.
"Don't be a boy! Don't be a boy!" thought Violet.
Violet pulled out a name, and she read.
"Schroeder." Thought Violet.
"Oh, good grief!" Violet groaned out loud.
"Quiet, you blockhead!" thought Violet. "Getting a gift for Schroeder might be fascinating."
Next up was Schroeder.
"Don't be Lucy! Don't be Lucy!" thought Schroeder.
Schroeder pulled out a name, and read it.
"Lucy van Pelt." Thought Schroeder.
"Oh good grief!" he groaned out loud.
Every other student pulled out a name, all except for one, and that student was…..
"Charlie Brown! It's your turn!" called Lucy.
"Me?! Oh, of course!"
Charlie Brown walked over to the bowl where there was one name left. Charlie Brown pulled it out and read.
"Heather Wold." Thought Charlie Brown. "I don't believe it! This could be the best Christmas ever! I'm her secret Santa!"
Charlie Brown walked out of school, thankful that his Christmas holidays had started, and especially thankful that he was the secret Santa for the redhead of his dreams.
"I still can't believe I'm her secret Santa!" Charlie Brown said to himself. "It's fascinating and all, but there's just one problem. I don't know what to get her! Hmm…. I could duck over to her psychiatry booth for some useful advice."
Charlie Brown walked over to Heather's Psychiatry Booth, and much to his surprise, Heather wasn't there. The sign at the front read: "THE DOCTOR IS OUT".
"Good grief! Well, I could duck over to Linus' psychiatry booth for help."
Charlie Brown went over to the Van Pelt Psychiatry Booth, and much to his surprise, Linus wasn't there. Only….
"Janice?" puzzled Charlie Brown.
"Hello, Charlie Brown." Janice replied.
"Where's Linus?"
"I heard he's gone to the stores, so I'm in charge of this booth. Anyway, Charlie Brown. What's the problem?"
"I need some advice, Janice. I'm a secret Santa. And I need some help on what gift to get for my recipient."
"I can't help you with what gift to get, Charlie Brown, but all I can say is think very hard. And you mustn't tell who the gift is from."
"Hmm….. oh yeah! Those are the Secret Santa rules! Well, thanks for the help anyway, Janice."
"And by the way, Charlie Brown," Janice continued. "since I'm having a party on Christmas, bring your special gift over on Christmas Eve."
"That's a wonderful idea, Janice. I will!" Charlie Brown replied.
"Wait, Charlie Brown! Before you leave….."
"Janice picked up the tin and shook it."
"Oh yeah."
Charlie Brown was just about to put 3 cents in when…..
"Actually, Charlie Brown. It's one cent for Christmas Holidays." Janice said.
"That's a deal!"
Charlie Brown tossed one cent into Janice's tin, and then, headed off.
"Now that's a sound I approve of." Janice smiled.
Because the semester was over, Charlie Brown had to go home and rest.
"I need to rest my feet. I'll start my Christmas shopping tomorrow." Charlie Brown decided.
"What took you so long, Big Brother?" asked Sally.
"I went to get some helpful advice from Janice. I'd get advice from Heather, but for some reason, she was out." Charlie Brown replied.
"Advice?" quizzed Sally.
"I'm a secret Santa."
"Of who, Big Brother?"
"Oh. I can't tell. Or else I wouldn't even be a secret Santa."
"No matter." Said Sally.
Charlie Brown went to his room to ponder what Heather would like. But as he passed Sally's room, he saw that Sally had already bought a special Christmas gift. The gift was wrapped in green paper and a pink ribbon.
"Er, Sally!" cried Charlie Brown.
"Yes, Big Brother?"
"You mean to tell me you bought a gift already?"
Charlie Brown pondered at the gift, and read….
"To my Sweet Babboo. Sally? Who is this Sweet Babboo you speak of?"
"Oh, it's a gift for my boyfriend." Said Sally.
"Wait! Don't tell me….."
"It's actually….. for Harold Angel." Sally lied.
"Harold Angel?! Oh."
Charlie Brown continued to his room, while Sally showed a sly smile.
"My big brother is too gullible." Sally thought to herself. "What he doesn't seem to realise is I bought this gift for Linus, who of course is my true sweet babboo."
Meanwhile, over at Schroeder's house, Schroeder was playing Für Elise, while Lucy rested.
"Schroeder, will you be buying me anything for Christmas this year?" asked Lucy.
Schroeder didn't take notice of Lucy's question. He just continued to play his piano.
"What if it was real estate?"
Schroeder finally grabbed Lucy's attention and laughed.
"Real estate?! Real estate?!"
Schroeder thought this was so funny, he just rolled on the floor. Once he'd stopped laughing, he continued to play his piano.
"What was so funny, Schroeder?"
"Real estate?! Come on! You know I can't afford to buy you real estate!" laughed Schroeder.
"Rats!"
Lucy walked out of Schroeder's house, grumpy that Schroeder wouldn't be getting a Christmas gift for her….. or so she thought.
"Look out, world! I'm going to be crabby until the end of Christmas!" Lucy said out loud.
"No, Lucy!" she thought. "Remember what you promised to the Ghosts of Christmas!"
"Oh yeah." She said.
Over at the Browns' place, Snoopy was sitting on top of his doghouse with his typewriter. He was writing numerous letters. Various Christmas invitations. Each one to his siblings. Each invitation he wrote, he placed in an envelope. Snoopy whistled to his little avian friend Woodstock and all the other little birds. Snoopy handed each letter to each bird, and each Woodstock flew away to the various different places.
Woodstock arrived at Needles, California, where Snoopy's skinny desert dwelling brother Spike lived. Spike came out of his agency, and checked the mail. Spike was excited. This meant he would be spending Christmas with his famous talented brother.
The next day, Charlie Brown knew just what to do. He was going to write a Christmas card to Heather. And then, he was going to go out to the store to find the ideal Christmas gift for her.
"Think, Charlie Brown, think! What kind of gift would she like? No. There'll be time for that later. I have to make a Christmas card for her."
Charlie Brown started on the Christmas card. He drew a fir tree, and then drew numerous red hearts around it. Next, he drew colourful baubles across the tree. Then, he started to write. Sally came in.
"What are you doing, Big Brother?" asked Sally.
"I'm writing a Christmas card." Replied Charlie Brown.
"But what about the gift?"
"There'll be time for that later."
"Oh well. At least I've gotten mine ready." Said Sally.
"Anything you say, Sally."
Charlie Brown had finished writing the Christmas card, and then, he placed it into an envelope. He then went out to the store to find Heather the ideal Christmas present while still carrying the envelope, because he wanted to attach the envelope to the gift. Then, he bumped into Heather, who was taking Henry for a stroll. Charlie Brown dropped the envelope in the process.
"Oh! Heather!" cried Charlie Brown.
"Hi, Charlie Brown!" smiled Heather.
"What are you doing out here?"
"Just taking Henry for a stroll in this crisp winter weather, showing him the beautiful blankets of snow."
Heather noticed something. It was the envelope. Heather picked it up.
"H. W." she pondered. "Oh, Charlie Brown! You dropped this! You don't wanna forget this!"
"That envelope?" asked Charlie Brown. "Oh yeah! Er….. Holly Wilson would be displeased if I don't give this to her."
Heather, hearing this, felt sad. Of course, this was just an alibi from Charlie Brown just to get out of letting Heather know the card was for her, but Heather didn't know. Heather, disappointed, decided to take Henry home and open up her psychiatry booth.
When Charlie Brown arrived at the store, he looked around for something Heather might like for Christmas.
"Think, Charlie Brown, think!"
Charlie Brown went through the girl toy aisle.
"Hmm…. Something a red-haired girl like Heather will like. Think, Charlie Brown, think."
Charlie Brown bumped into someone on his way. The someone was Schroeder.
"Oh! Charlie Brown!" said Schroeder. "What are you doing here? And why are you in the girl toy aisle?!"
"I'm looking for a special Christmas gift." Said Charlie Brown.
"What a fun coincidence, Charlie Brown. That's what I'm doing here too."
"I'm having trouble, Schroeder. I can't seem to find the right gift."
"It's only a week until Christmas, Charlie Brown. There's plenty of time to get the right present."
"One week….. you're right, Schroeder! Oh well, I'll try again later on."
Whilst Charlie Brown was still in the girl toy aisle, Violet and Patty S. were there. They couldn't believe Charlie Brown was in the girl toy aisle.
"Look, Patty! There's Charlie Brown!" called Violet.
"And he's in the girl toy aisle!" added Patty Swanson.
"Old Failure Face is in the girl toy aisle!"
"Violet! Remember what the Ghosts of Christmas told us!"
"Oh yeah." Said Violet. "You're right, Patty. Good old Charlie Brown."
Charlie Brown exited the store, not acknowledging Violet or Patty.
"Yes. Good old Charlie Brown." Violet said solemnly "How I hate him."
"Violet!" cried Patty Swanson, remembering what the ghosts had said.
Charlie Brown carried his Christmas card for Heather when suddenly, a gust of wind blew it away.
"No! My Christmas card!" Charlie Brown called. "Come back!"
Charlie Brown chased after the Christmas card, but it was no good. The Christmas card flew down the sewer.
"Good grief! I can't stand it! I don't have a Christmas card to give, and I doubt anyone will give me one. Not this year, not any year. No, Charlie Brown! Keep the Christmas spirit!"
Charlie Brown went home, disappointed. Though he didn't buy anything for Heather, he was still determined. After all, it was only seven days until Christmas. Charlie Brown got home, where Sally sat in her beanbag watching TV.
"Did you find anything, Big Brother?" asked Sally.
"No. I couldn't think of anything, Sally." Said Charlie Brown. "But I did see Schroeder there, and he told me I have plenty of time before Christmas."
"That's the spirit, Big Brother!"
"She's right! The Christmas Spirit!"
"Anyway, I hope my sweet babboo gets me a special Christmas present this year." Smirked Sally.
The telephone just rang, and Sally went to get it. Sally quickly answered it.
"Hello?"
"I am NOT your sweet babboo!" shouted Linus. "And I would give you a Kwanza present!"
"Isn't he the cutest thing?" Sally sighed dreamily.
"Good grief!" sighed Charlie Brown.
The next day, Charlie Brown returned to the store, and much to his surprise, he saw Heather there. Heather was carrying a stack of Christmas cards in envelopes.
"Oh! Er…. Hi! Heather!" said Charlie Brown.
"Hello, Charlie Brown." Said Heather.
"So….. delivering Christmas cards, I see."
"Of course I am."
As Heather responded, a Christmas card fell off her stack.
"Er, Heather. You dropped one."
Charlie Brown picked up the card, and read it. Heather looked on nervously.
"C.B." Charlie Brown pondered as he simply placed the envelope back onto Heather's stack.
"Oh, you don't want to forget this card, do you?" He said slyly.
"No. I guess not." Said Heather. "Carlie Bryan would be so displeased."
As Heather walked off, Charlie Brown looked very displeased.
"I can't stand it!"
Peppermint Patty was having the same problem as Charlie Brown. She was the secret Santa to Marcie. She knew what Marcie liked, and was at the book store trying to find the right gift for her bespectacled friend. But due to her disinterest in reading and tendency to fall asleep in class, Peppermint Patty couldn't figure out what Marcie would like.
"What to get? What to get?" Peppermint Patty pondered to herself. "Aaugh! This secret Santa business is ridiculous!"
Charlie Brown had gone outside the book store where Peppermint Patty was, and thought to himself…..
"Heather likes reading, so I might get her a book."
Charlie Brown went into the book store, and much to his surprise, there was Peppermint Patty.
"Peppermint Patty?!" Charlie Brown quizzed.
"Hiya, Chuck! What brings you here?" asked Peppermint Patty.
"I'm just looking for a Christmas gift." Charlie Brown sighed.
"Oh! Are you my secret Santa, Chuck?" smirked Peppermint Patty.
"Er…. No."
"Rats! Anyway, Chuck, will you be getting me a Christmas gift this year?"
"Er… I might give you one, Sir." Charlie Brown said.
"Sir?! Oh, not this again, Chuck!"
"Hmm….. I could try the shoe store." Charlie Brown decided.
"Ha! I knew it'd be you, Chuck!"
"Er…"
Charlie Brown was so flustered, he ran as fast as he could toward the shoe store.
Over at the shoe store, there was Peggy Jean. She was the secret Santa of her boyfriend. She was so busy looking for the right shoes her boyfriend could get, she didn't notice Charlie Brown rushing in.
"Some shoes!" Charlie Brown
Peggy Jean heard the familiar voice, and turned.
"Huh?! Oh! Hi, Brownie Charles!" cried Peggy Jean.
"Wh….."
Charlie Brown turned towards the brunette.
"Peggy Jean! Wh…. What are you doing here?!"
"I'm…. er….. doing Christmas shopping. For….. my boyfriend."
Charlie Brown would wince at the mention of Peggy Jean's boyfriend, but ever since a certain Little Red-Haired Girl started making more of a presence in his life, he didn't respond.
"I….. was…. Er….. Gotta go!"
Charlie Brown ran out of the shoe store, much to Peggy Jean's bemusement.
"Er, Brownie Charles? Brownie Charles! Hm."
Charlie Brown was walking through the town, still hadn't decided what to get for Heather for Christmas, when he walked into Marcie, who was carrying a bag with the something she'd purchased. This was a Christmas gift for Franklin, since Marcie is Franklin's secret Santa.
"Oh! Marcie!" Charlie Brown exclaimed.
"Hi, Charles!" Marcie said.
"Did you buy something?"
"I sure did, Charles. This er… Christmas gift. I got for….. Craig Bowerman."
"Craig Bowerman? Oh, not this again!" sighed Charlie Brown.
"Well, I'd best get going, Charles. See you." said Marcie.
Marcie eventually met Peppermint Patty, who'd just purchased something for her recipient.
"Oh! Hi, Marcie! Fancy seeing you around here." Said Peppermint Patty.
"Just doing my Christmas shopping, Sir." Said Marcie.
"Just what I was doing, Marcie."
"I was going home to wrap up these gifts, Sir. Oh well, see you on Christmas, Sir."
"See you, Marcie! And until Christmas Day, stop calling me "Sir"!"
"Yes, Ma'am." Marcie replied.
Peppermint Patty simply winced at this.
Christmas Eve had arrived, and Charlie Brown still hadn't decided what to get Heather for Christmas.
"Come on, Charlie Brown! Think! Think what Heather would like, and not tell her until tomorrow. Hmm…. Of course! I'll write her a new Christmas card!"
Charlie Brown got out a piece of cardboard, and folded it in half. He got out some coloured markers and a pencil.
"Now, what can I draw? I know!" Charlie Brown finally decided.
Charlie Brown drew a picture of a Christmas tree, drew tiny little hearts hanging on it, and drew a bright shining star on top. Then, he coloured the tree green, the hearts red, and the star yellow and shining.
"What to write, what to write….."
Charlie Brown wrote on the Christmas card, and then, write inside.
"There! All finished!"
Charlie Brown had finished this when Linus showed up, carrying a gift wrapped in red paper and a pink ribbon. He walked up to Charlie Brown's room.
"Hi, Charlie Brown." Said Linus.
"Oh! Linus! What are you doing here? And is that gift for me?"
"I just came to remind you about Janice's Christmas party tomorrow. And no, this gift isn't for you." said Linus.
"Okay." Charlie Brown said.
"So what's this you wrote?
"It's a Christmas card for Heather."
Sally came up to Charlie Brown's room, intrigued to see Linus.
"Ooh! What's going on here? Is my boyfriend helping my big brother wrap up Christmas presents?" asked Sally sweetly.
Linus turned to Sally and shot an angry stare.
"I am NOT your boyfriend!" shouted Linus.
"Oh! Er….. see you at the party, Sweet Babboo!"
"And for the ninety-eight thousand, eight hundred and seventy-fourth time this year, I am NOT your sweet babboo!" Linus yelled.
Sally shot a nervous smile and waved before heading down to the kitchen to leave cookies for Santa.
"That is so stupid! That is gigantically stupid!" Linus shouted with frustration. "Anyway, Charlie Brown. Can I read what you wrote in this card?"
"Sure. Go ahead." Charlie Brown said, handing the card to Linus.
Linus opened up the card Charlie Brown made for Heather and was flabbergasted.
"Merry Christmas Heather….. from your sweet babboo?!" exclaimed Linus.
"It's a… family expression." Sighed Charlie Brown.
"Tell you what, Charlie Brown," said Linus. "You take this gift to Janice's house, and when you get home, you rewrite this card."
"Good grief!" Charlie Brown sighed.
As Charlie Brown had said this, the doorbell was heard.
"Now who might that be?" he wondered.
Charlie Brown took the gift, and went down to the door and answered it. Much to his surprise…..
"Spike! Belle! Molly! Rover! Andy! Marbles! Olaf!" Charlie Brown cried, seeing Snoopy's siblings.
Spike, Belle, Molly, Rover, Andy, Marbles and Olaf cheered.
"Snoopy! Your brothers and sisters are here!"
Snoopy heard Charlie Brown's voice and cheered. He ran to the front door and greeted his siblings.
"Why can't Snoopy just be a normal dog?" sighed Charlie Brown.
Charlie Brown went over to the Emmons' place. Charlie Brown read the label on the gift. It said: Janice Emmons.
"So this gift is for Janice." Charlie Brown said.
Charlie arrived at the Emmons' place and rang the doorbell. But much to his surprise, Janice didn't answer the door. It was her Patty-like sister Lindsey.
"Oh, Hi." Said Charlie Brown.
"Hello… er…." Lindsey pondered.
"Charlie Brown."
"Charlie Brown. Oh yeah." Lindsey replied.
"Is Janice home?" asked Charlie Brown.
"No. She's gone out to get a Christmas gift." Lindsey replied.
"Oh. Well, tell her a gift has just arrived."
"Another one?" groaned Lindsey. "Gee! Janice seems to get a lot of Christmas gifts every year since she had cancer."
Janice's Frieda-like sister Britney came in to see her older sister.
"Another Christmas gift, Lindsey?" asked Britney.
"Yeah. Janice seems to be getting a lot of gifts this year." Replied Lindsey.
Over in the Browns' backyard, Snoopy told his siblings about where they would be celebrating Christmas Day. Snoopy decided to show them where they would be going. As Snoopy and his siblings reached the Emmons' place, all hounds were intrigued.
"Ooooh!" Snoopy's siblings cooed.
Snoopy chuckled, and just as he'd finished, Janice had returned home.
"Oh! Hello, Snoopy!" said Janice. "Coming to my place for Christmas? And are these your brothers and sisters?"
Snoopy nodded, as did Spike, Olaf, Belle, Molly, Rover, Marbles and Andy.
"Great! More guests at my Christmas party!" smiled Janice.
So Janice went inside, and much to her surprise, there was another gift under the Christmas tree. Janice looked at the gift wrapped in red paper and a pink ribbon.
"Looks so beautiful! It's for…. Hmm…. Janice Emmons. It's for me! No, Janice. You mustn't open it until tomorrow."
"Charlie Brown brought it over while you were away." Said Lindsey.
"Does this mean…." Janice pondered, and then… "No. Charlie Brown can't be my secret Santa."
Charlie Brown was on his way home, ready to rewrite his Christmas card to Heather. Then, he remembered what he got for Heather's birthday.
"If I can't buy a Christmas gift for Heather, I'll make one for her." Charlie Brown decided.
Charlie Brown went to a do-it-yourself store to make a special Christmas gift for Heather, and then, once he had done, he walked out of the store, with a bag. When he got home, he wrapped the gift up in green paper and a cyan ribbon.
"What are you doing, Big Brother?" asked Sally.
"I've finally decided on the gift! All wrapped up!" smiled Charlie Brown.
"That's my big brother!" Sally cheered.
"Now, to rectify this Christmas card." Charlie Brown said, turning to the Christmas card.
Charlie Brown used the eraser to remove all he'd written outside, and then, he got to work rewriting it. Once he'd finished, he put the card in an envelope, and wrote on it.
"There! Wait until tomorrow to shove this into her mailbox, and I'll deliver this to Janice." Charlie Brown decided. "But wait! Sally! Will you take this to Janice's place?"
"Alright! If I must!" Sally sighed.
Sally went over to the Emmons' place with Charlie Brown's gift for Heather, and rang the doorbell. And who should open the door but Janice.
"Oh! Hello, Sally!" said Janice.
"Put this under your tree." Said Sally.
"Thanks, Sally." Said Janice.
Sally handed the gift to Janice, and Janice read the label.
"Hmm…. Heather Wold. Hmm… I think I know who Heather's secret Santa could be! But that'll have to wait until tomorrow." Janice decided.
The following day, Charlie Brown was still fast asleep in bed, and Snoopy was still asleep on top of his doghouse, covered in snow, as were his siblings. They were all enjoying their beauty sleep until…..
"Wake up! It's Christmas! Christmas time is here! Happiness and cheer!" cheered Sally.
"What?! Good grief!" exclaimed Charlie Brown.
Charlie Brown woke up and got out of bed.
"Happy Christmas, Big Brother!"
"Happy Christmas, Sally!"
"I just hope Samantha Claus left us some presents." Sally said, still in her delusions.
"Santa Claus, Sally." Charlie Brown corrected.
Both Charlie and Sally Brown went downstairs, and there were…
"Good grief! Santa really did come!" Charlie Brown cried. "And….. oh! Heather's card!"
Charlie Brown went back to his room, dressed in his warm outfit, and picked up Heather's Christmas card. He had to make sure Heather hadn't gotten up yet. Then, he slid the envelope into Heather's mailbox.
"Phew!" Charlie Brown sighed with relief.
Charlie Brown darted back into his house to open his Christmas gifts.
"Huh? Hm." Heather pondered.
Heather's mother called for Heather to check the mail.
"Yes, Mom!"
Heather went to the mailbox to check the mail, and much to her surprise, there was an envelope. Heather took out the envelope and read.
"Heather Wold. Note: Do not open until you get to Janice's place. Hmm…. This should be a nice surprise." Heather said with wonder.
Later, it was time for all the Peanuts to go to Janice's place for the Christmas party, and the place where the secret Santas would be revealed. Janice's first guests were Marcie and Peppermint Patty.
"Hello, Marcie. Hello, Peppermint Patty. Happy Christmas!" Janice said happily.
"Merry Christmas, Janice." Said Marcie.
"Happy Christmas, Jan!" called Peppermint Patty.
"Come on in, Marcie and Patty! Lots of Christmas fun for all!" Janice said happily.
After Marcie and Peppermint Patty came Violet and the other Patty.
"Happy Christmas, Violet. Happy Christmas, Patty." Janice said.
"Oh, he'll be so surprised by what gift I got him!" smirked Violet.
"Who?" asked Patty Swanson.
"Wait and see." Added Violet.
The second to last guests were Sally, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock, Belle, Spike, Olaf, Andy, Marbles, Rover, and Molly.
"Hello, Snoopy, Woodstock, Sally, and Charlie Brown. Merry Christmas to both of you!" said Janice.
"Happy Christmas, Janice." Said Charlie Brown.
"Merry Christmas, Janice." Said Sally.
And the last people and animal to arrive at the Emmons place were…..
"I'll get it!" called Janice.
Janice opened the door, and there were…
"Heather! Fifi! Hello! Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas, Janice." Said Heather.
"Oh. I see you brought Henry!" said Janice, eyeing the red-haired infant in the stroller.
"Yeah. My parents said they don't mind me bringing my little brother over, and don't mind him spending his first Christmas with his favourite big sister's friends." Said Heather.
"Er, Heather. You're his only big sister." Janice explained.
"Oh yeah." Chuckled Heather.
Well, come on in. Everyone's here!" Janice said.
Heather walked in, her brother in her, as well as her dog Fifi, and much to her surprise….
"Good grief! It's like the entire neighbourhood's here!" Heather exclaimed.
Charlie Brown, who was helping himself to some chocolate, heard the sweet voice.
"Is that?"
Charlie Brown turned to Heather and Henry.
"Heather! Hello!" Charlie Brown cheered.
"Charlie Brown! Hello! Merry Christmas!"
"Merry Christmas, Heather."
"I have a neat idea! Let's sing some carols!" cried Sally.
So Sally, Charlie Brown, Heather, Janice, Linus, Rerun, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Patty, Violet, Franklin, Shermy, Frieda, Pig-Pen, Harold Angel, Tapioca Pudding, Schroeder, Lila, Peggy Jean, Mimi, Lucy, Emily, Eudora, Floyd, Three, Four, and Five got together and started singing their trademark carol.
"Christmastime is here,
Happiness and cheer!
Fun for all the children call,
Their favourite time of year!"
After singing, it was time for opening presents.
"Present time!" Janice called out.
Everybody cheered and gathered together.
"The first gift is for… Schroeder." Janice said.
"Oh! That's me!"
Schroeder went over to the large gift that was wrapped in red paper and purple ribbon. He opened it and it was…
"A new piano! Wow! And who got this for me? Come on!"
"I did!" said Violet. "Merry Christmas, Schroeder!"
"Well…. Thanks, Violet."
"Next gift is for… Pig-Pen!" Janice announced.
"Here I come!" said Pig-Pen.
Janice handed the gift wrapped in green paper and a lime ribbon to Pig-Pen. Pig-Pen opened the gift, and inside was…
"A violin! But…. Who would get me a violin?"
"That would be me." smiled Patty Swanson. "After all, a little violin never hurt anybody. Merry Christmas, Pig-Pen!"
Pig-Pen, realising this, simply blushed.
"Next gift is for… Lucy van Pelt!" Janice called out.
"Yay! I get a gift! Oh, I hope it's real estate!" Lucy said excitedly.
Lucy walked over to the gift wrapped in blue paper and a red ribbon. She opened it, and inside was….
"A dollhouse?" Lucy quizzed.
"Who gave this to Lucy?" asked Janice.
"Was it…" Lucy pondered.
"It was me!" called Schroeder. "I know you want real estate, but this was the closest I could buy you to real estate. Merry Christmas, Lucy."
"Ho! Schroeder actually gave me a gift! I'm so happy! Thank you, Schroeder!" Lucy said happily.
"The next gift is for… Peppermint Patty!" Janice announced.
"That's me!" Peppermint Patty announced.
Peppermint Patty picked up the green gift wrapped in yellow paper.
"I hope Chuck got me this!"
Inside the gift was…
"An alarm clock!" cried Peppermint Patty.
"Now who got this gift for Peppermint Patty?" asked Janice.
"I did, Sir!" Floyd called.
"Sir?! Oh, Floyd!" said Peppermint Patty.
"I couldn't take any more of your sleeping in class, Sir." Said Floyd. "So I got you a new alarm clock. Merry Christmas, Sir!"
"Thanks, Floyd!" said Peppermint Patty.
"Next gift is for…. Linus van Pelt!" called Janice.
"Alright!" cheered Linus.
Linus went to his gift wrapped in red paper and a black ribbon.
"I can't wait to see what I got!"
Inside the gift was…..
"Ooh!" cooed Sally.
"I got a new security blanket! And it's red!" cried Linus.
"Oh good grief!" groaned Lucy. "Now my stupid brother will never get rid of his stupid blanket!"
"Now who got Linus this gift?" asked Janice.
"I did!" called Sally.
"Oh no!" sighed Linus.
"I thought I could allow my boyfriend to feel more secure with another security blanket." Sally smiled.
"I am NOT your boyfriend!" shouted Linus.
"Oh, aren't you the cutest thing, Linus? Merry Christmas, Linus!" said Sally.
"Anyway…. The next gift is for….. Marcie!" Janice called.
"Alright! I get a gift!" cheered Marcie.
Marcie went to the orange gift wrapped in red ribbon, and then, she unwrapped it to find…..
"A book on how to read! A book on how to read?!" Marcie quizzed.
Marcie thought this so funny, she rolled on the floor laughing.
"Who got this for her?" asked Janice.
"Me!" called Peppermint Patty. "I got it for you, Marcie. I thought you could use a laugh! Merry Christmas, Marcie!"
"Thank you, Sir! The funniest Christmas gift anyone could ever receive!" laughed Marcie.
"The next gift is for…. Sally!" Janice called out.
"Yay! I can't wait to see what my sweet babboo got for me!" smiled Sally.
"I am NOT your sweet babboo!" Linus called.
Sally went to the gift wrapped in pink paper and a green ribbon. She unwrapped it, and inside was…..
"Aw! A baboon!" swooned Sally. "A sweet baboon! A sweet and stuffed baboon! I knew Linus would give this to me!"
"I did not!" yelled Linus.
"Well, who did?" asked Janice.
"I did!" called a boy named Harold Angel.
"Huh?!" Sally puzzled.
"Harold Angel?" Janice said.
"The Harold Angel? You got this for me?" Sally asked.
"Well, you did tell me what a sweet babboo is, and I thought it'd be a monkey, and I got it for you to remind you of your own sweet babboo. Happy Christmas, Sally!" said Harold Angel.
"Now, the next Christmas gift is for….. Charlie Brown!" Janice called.
"Me?" Charlie Brown called. "I don't believe it! Someone got me a Christmas gift!"
Then he thought….
"I hope Heather got it for me!"
Charlie Brown went to the gift wrapped in red paper and a yellow ribbon. He opened it up, and inside was…
"I got a swing set." Said Charlie Brown. "And….. it has a figure of me and Heather! Heather is my secret Santa!"
"Heather! Did you give this to Charlie Brown?" asked Janice.
"Yes. I did." Smiled Heather.
"You did?" said Charlie Brown excitedly.
"I figured out that the ones you and Janice got me for my birthday were do-it-yourself, so I made them for you." said Heather. "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!"
"Oh! Er…"
Charlie Brown's face was so red, he couldn't say anymore.
"The next gift is for… Frieda!" called Janice.
"Oh! That's me! I hope my gift is as beautiful as my naturally curly hair." Smirked Frieda.
Frieda went to the enormous purple gift tied with a gold ribbon. She opened it, and inside the gift was…..
"A Cat Castle! Faron needs one of these, since he is getting too big for his old cat castle." Cried Frieda.
"Who got this for Frieda?" asked Janice.
"Me!" said Five. "I thought your cat could do with a Cat Castle. Merry Christmas, Frieda!"
"Aw!" said Frieda happily.
"The next gift is for… Franklin!" Janice announced.
"Coming!" called Franklin.
Franklin went to the orange gift with a purple ribbon. He opened it, and inside was…
"I got a photo frame signed by Joe Shlabotnik!" exclaimed Franklin.
"Who is Franklin's secret Santa?" asked Janice.
"Me!" said Marcie. "While I may not be into sports, I know Franklin likes playing sports. Especially against Charles, so I thought he'd like a picture of a retired baseballer. Merry Christmas, Franklin!
"The next gift is for… Violet." Janice announced.
"Oh, I hope I got a special gift this year!" cheered Violet.
Violet went to the gift wrapped in violet paper and a green ribbon. Inside was…
"Rocks?! Really?!" sighed Violet.
"Who is Violet's secret Santa?" asked Janice.
"Er….. I am." Said Pig-Pen. "Merry Christmas, Violet."
"It's the thought that counts." Said Violet.
"Don't worry, Violet! A little dirt never hurts!" smiled Patty Swanson.
"Patty Swanson! You're next!" called Janice.
"Oh, I can't wait to see who gave me a gift!" Patty Swanson cheered.
Patty went to her gift wrapped in green paper and a red ribbon. She opened it and inside was…
"It's a rock! Pig-Pen can't have given this to me since he was Violet's secret Santa."
"Who gave this gift to Patty?" asked Janice.
"Me!" said Shermy. "I knew you had a thing for Pig-Pen, so I thought you'd like something he likes. Happy Christmas, Patty!"
"It's the thought that counts." Said Patty Swanson.
"Shermy is next!" called Janice.
"Now, who could've gotten me a gift for Christmas this year?" wondered Shermy.
Shermy opened the gift wrapped in red paper and a gold ribbon. Inside was…..
"It's a baseball glove. And it has Joe Shlabotnik's signature!" Shermy exclaimed.
"Who gave Shermy this gift?" asked Janice.
"Me." Lucy announced. "Since I wasn't Schroeder's secret Santa, I thought about you and got you a gift instead. Merry Christmas, Shermy!"
"Well, thanks, Lucy." Said Shermy.
The gift giving went on and on, until there were three gifts left. Janice showed a teal gift in a pink ribbon.
"This gift is for… Lila!" Janice called.
"Me? Who?" wondered Lila.
Lila went to the big gift, and opened it. Inside the gift was….
"I got a doghouse!" cried Lila. "Aw, now Snoopy can stay with me whenever he wants, even outside."
"Oh!" Snoopy cried.
"And I already know who gave Lila this gift." Smirked Janice.
"Who?" asked Lila.
"Me." Janice replied. "After hearing you used to own Snoopy before Charlie Brown, I thought you could use that doghouse to house him whenever he comes to stay. Merry Christmas, Lila."
"Aw, thanks, Janice!" said Lila.
"The next gift is for….. Janice Emmons! Janice Emmons? That's me!"
Janice opened the gift she'd received, and inside was…..
"I don't believe it! I don't believe this!"
Janice had received a miniature swing set, with a figure of herself and a figure of Linus.
"Who's my secret Santa?"
"Me!" Linus called.
"Linus? You did this for me?" said Janice.
"Charlie Brown made the same thing for Heather for her birthday, so I thought I'd do the same thing for you. Merry Christmas, Janice!"
"Thank you, Linus! Thank you so much for this gift, Sweet Babboo!"
"He's NOT your sweet babboo!" Sally shouted.
Janice held out the last present.
"This last present is for… Heather Wold!"
"Me? I'm the last one!" Heather exclaimed.
"Come on, Heather! Come get your gift!" Janice called.
Heather picked out the gift, and unwrapped it. It was….
"Oh! It's a music box! And it has a statuette of me!" Heather smiled.
"And who is Heather's secret Santa?" asked Janice. "Come on!"
"I am." Charlie Brown answered. "I was having trouble deciding what to get you for Christmas, and suddenly remembered what I got you for your birthday, and I decided to make that music box for you. Merry Christmas, Heather!"
"Oh, thank you, Charlie Brown!" said Heather.
"Well, now that everyone's gifts are open," said Janice. "what are we all waiting for? Let's party! How about we dance?"
"Yay!"
Emily got to the record player, and turned it on. The music playing was Christmas is Coming.
Charlie Brown did various dances. Sally and Eudora swung each arm to the left, to the right while moving their feet up. Linus, with both his security blankets, moved one foot up and swung his elbows. Rerun just did a little dance. Lucy pointed her fingers and swayed about. Frieda swayed her arms from left to right. Violet and Patty both put their arm up and turned to each side. Shermy held his arms up and kicked each leg. Franklin did some sort of a robotic dance. Peppermint Patty pointed her fingers and stood on her tippy toes, doing the twist. Marcie moved her fists about. Pig-Pen moved his right arm about. Schroeder closed his eyes, stuck his tongue out, and moved his arm about. Three, Four, Lila and Janice held their arms up and danced. Heather and Peggy Jean swung their hips from side to side before twirling. Mimi swung her arms from side to side. Floyd, Harold Angel, and Five stood on their toes and touched their feet. Emily did a ballerina twirl. Snoopy, Fifi, and Snoopy's siblings joined in the fun. As did Woodstock.
Once all the dancing was over, Lucy went towards a mistletoe. She looked towards Schroeder.
"Oh, Schroeder!" smiled Lucy, pointing to the mistletoe.
"Oh, good grief!" groaned Schroeder.
"Aw, come on, Schroeder! It's Christmas!" said Lucy.
"Alright then." Sighed Schroeder reluctantly.
"Alright!" said Lucy cheerfully.
Lucy closed her eyes and puckered up. Snoopy saw this and puckered up too. He walked towards Lucy and kissed her lips. Lucy opened her eyes and noticed Snoopy.
"AAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUGH! I've kissed a dog!" cried Lucy. "I've kissed a mangy dog! AAUGH! My mouth's poisoned! AAUGH!"
Lucy ran off in disgust. Schroeder couldn't help but laugh.
Sally was at another mistletoe, waiting for Linus to come towards her.
"Oh, Linus! Linus! Sweet Babboo!" Sally cooed.
Linus looked toward Sally and noticed the mistletoe above her.
"Oh good grief! Not you too, Sally!" groaned Linus.
Sally closed her eyes and puckered up.
"Alright. If I must. It is Christmas after all." Linus sighed.
Linus closed his eyes and puckered up, and then walked toward Sally. Janice saw this, and walked toward Sally. Then, Janice pulled Sally away. Janice then puckered up. Linus finally kissed Janice's lips.
"There! You happy….."
Linus opened his eyes all of a sudden.
"Janice?!"
"I just couldn't bear to see you go through this, since it's Christmas." Said Janice. "Anyway, Linus. Thank you for the lovely gift, Linus! The best Christmas gift I could ever receive!"
Janice closed her eyes and kissed Linus' left cheek. Linus was so excited by Janice's kiss, his hair went upright and he blushed redder than his shirt.
Sally looked around and saw Linus with Janice.
"Go ahead, Linus! I'll have to have a different sweet babboo." Scoffed Sally.
Sally suddenly saw Harold Angel under another mistletoe.
"Oh, Sally!" called Harold Angel.
"Since Linus wouldn't kiss me, I'll have to kiss Harold Angel." Sally decided.
Sally walked over to Harold Angel, and kissed his mouth. Harold Angel looked at Sally, and was amazed. Harold Angel proceeded to blush.
"Wow!" exclaimed Harold Angel.
"Did you like that, my new Sweet Babboo?" Sally cooed.
"Yes! I did!"
Schroeder still stood at the mistletoe Lucy stood under until Snoopy kissed her until Violet walked over.
"Oh, Schroeder!" called Violet.
Violet kissed Schroeder's left cheek. Schroeder looked to his side, and then…
"UGH! A girl kissed me! Ugh! I'm poisoned!" screamed Schroeder, running away in disgust.
Violet was disappointed. She shrugged, and then allowed her friend Patty Swanson under the mistletoe.
"Oh, Pig-Pen!" called Patty Swanson.
Pig-Pen saw Patty under the mistletoe, and where Patty stood, Pig-Pen, dusty and all, ran towards Patty and kissed her mouth. Patty, feeling this, proceeded to blush.
"Aw, a little dust never hurt anyone." Smiled Patty Swanson.
Marcie was waiting underneath a mistletoe for Charlie Brown to come.
"Come on, Charles!" smirked Marcie.
Peppermint Patty walked over to where her bespectacled friend was standing.
"Marcie! What are you doing over here?" asked Peppermint Patty.
"I'm waiting for Charles to kiss me, Sir." Said Marcie.
"Marcie, you stay outta this! Chuck is mine!"
"Nope." Marcie said firmly.
Franklin saw the two girls fighting, and knew just how to put a stop to it. He walked over to Marcie, and kissed her right cheek.
"Huh?!" Marcie puzzled, her lenses started to fog up from her blushing.
"Happy Christmas, Marcie! And thank you for the gift!" said Franklin.
Peppermint Patty felt down in the dumps until she saw Floyd.
"Floyd. Come cheer old Peppermint Patty up." Peppermint Patty said.
"Since that Franklin kid is taking my lambcake from me, how about you be my lambcake this year, Sir." Said Floyd.
"Anything for you, Floyd. Oh, and Floyd?"
"Yes?"
"Quit calling me "Sir"."
"Yes, Ma'am."
Lila looked at Snoopy, Fifi and all Snoopy's siblings.
"Aw, I remember you lot!" said Lila. "You all used to live at Daisy Hill Puppy Farm, didn't you?"
Snoopy nodded.
"Are any of you up for adoption?" asked Lila.
Snoopy and his siblings looked at Lila in confusion.
"I'm trying to ask you, would any of you like to be my dog?"
Lila decided to pick out one of Snoopy's siblings she'd like to adopt. She then pointed to a Snoopy-like beagle who was wearing a pink pearl necklace and a large pink bow on top of her head. This of course was Snoopy's sister Belle. Belle reminded Lila of a feminised Snoopy.
"Yay!" cheered Belle.
"And this dog's name is….?" Asked Lila.
Snoopy got out a piece of paper, and wrote "BELLE". Then, handed it to Lila.
"Belle. Belle, you and I are going to have lots of fun together!" said Lila.
"Yay!" Snoopy cheered.
Snoopy was so excited, he danced his trademark jig. Lila adopting Belle meant he would be seeing his sister more often. Snoopy hugged Belle, and they both did a dance. Belle was delighted, because this meant she would be seeing her famous brother more often.
Charlie Brown was standing under another mistletoe. Heather saw this, and walked over to him.
"Oh. Hi, Charlie Brown!" said Heather.
"Heather. I just wanted to say, thank you for the wonderful gift you gave me." said Charlie Brown.
"I figured out that you made the same thing for my birthday, so I made the same for you for Christmas. And also… Thank you for the music box of me, Charlie Brown. That's the best Christmas gift I've received this year." Said Heather.
"And your Christmas card." Charlie Brown added.
"Oh yeah. I'd best open that up too."
Heather opened up her Christmas card, and looked at it.
"Aw! It's a tree!" said Heather. And it has a shining star on top! And tiny little hearts hanging on it!"
Heather opened the card, and read it.
Dear Heather.
Just a letter from me to you,
A Christmas card from your Sweet Babboo.
Hope you like the gift I got,
you disliking it, I sure hope not.
May your Christmas this year be your best forever.
Happy Christmas, beautiful young red-haired Heather.
Sincerely,
Charlie Brown.
"Oh, Charlie Brown!" cried Heather. "This is by far the best Christmas card I have ever received! In fact, this is the best card any Red-Haired Girl like me could ever receive any Christmas!"
Charlie Brown was so excited by Heather's words, his face went as red as Heather's hair. He couldn't think of anything to say.
"Um! Er…"
"Oh, Charlie Brown! Thank you! Thank you for all of this!" Heather said.
Charlie: Er, Heather….. look up above you?
Heather turned her head up, and was surprised. There was mistletoe, and this was her perfect opportunity.
"Do it!" Heather thought to herself.
Heather placed her lips on Charlie Brown's mouth and kissed him gently. Her kiss was so gentle, Charlie Brown started to blush even redder.
"How was that, Charlie Brown? Er, Charlie Brown?" Heather puzzled.
Charlie Brown was so red, he couldn't respond.
Once Janice's Christmas party was over, everyone bid a kind farewell to Janice.
"That was an awesome party, Jan!" said Peppermint Patty.
"It was fun, Janice!" added Marcie.
As Peppermint Patty and Marcie made their way home, Marcie, carrying her book on how to read, couldn't help but laugh.
"A book on how to read?! That's the funniest book I've ever gotten!" Marcie laughed.
"You're weird, Marcie." Sighed Peppermint Patty.
As Linus was leaving, Janice stopped him for a bit.
"Hey, Linus! Leaving so soon?" asked Janice.
"Your party's over, Janice." Said Linus.
"Not for you it's not!" said Janice. "Stay a little longer. Say, wanna stay the night with me?"
"Hmm… I would love to!" said Linua.
"Alright! Lucy and I will tell Mom you won't be returning until tomorrow!" said Rerun.
As Lucy and Rerun left, Janice got ready to pucker up.
"Now that your siblings are out of the way, you can use both your blankets to sleep in tonight, Linus. Thanks for spending this Christmas with me." said Janice.
Janice simply kissed Linus on his left cheek. Linus was so excited by Janice's kiss, he blushed bright red.
But what about Charlie Brown and Heather? Well, Heather brought Charlie Brown to the front of his house before bidding him goodnight. Both were carrying their gifts.
"This Christmas party Janice invited us to was fantastic!" said Heather. "Especially because of you, Charlie Brown! Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown!"
Heather kissed Charlie Brown's right cheek, and made her way across the street. Charlie Brown watched as his favourite redhead went home. His face redder than her hair, he thought this to be his best Christmas ever.
