A Night To Remember

It was nearing Halloween in Royal Woods and while it would normally mean going out trick or treating for some candy, there was one person who was worried for another reason. And that person was none other than Ronnie Anne Santiago. The normally tomboyish girl would be thrilled about the idea of going out with her friends and getting boat loads of candy. But this year was different. For this year Halloween landed on a Friday night and because of that, the school had decided to have a school dance.

School dances could be fun with the right group of friends and Ronnie liked to think that she had a pretty great group. Ever since last year, they always decided to go as a group so that no one would be left out. And they would each share one dance with one another. But for Ronnie, she had her sights set on one particular friend.

His name was Lincoln Loud and he had been the target of her affections since they were little. At first she didn't really know how to express her feelings towards him so she would tease him in order to get a reaction from him. In her own dumb logic she thought that if she could get him to notice her then maybe he would like her back. Unfortunately, she didn't take into account that no boy likes to have sloppy joes shoved down their pants. Or have their locker filled with trash. Or get buried under a pile of fish heads. You get the idea.

Luckily things ended up working out after a misunderstanding that led to her older brother and Lincoln's older sister breaking up. That event led to Lincoln giving her a kiss and telling everyone that he liked her. But before she could make things official between them...freaking Cristina had to happen!

Ronnie had struggled to summon up her courage to talk to Lincoln about their new relationship. And during that time, Lincoln had felt like she just wanted them to be friends. And so, he moved on. She felt crushed because she saw them talking after school one day and Cristina was laughing at something that he said. She walked away as the pretty brunette girl placed her hand on his shoulder and when he smiled back, her world crumbled.

Ronnie Anne had run all the way back home with tears in her eyes. And she had cried all night until her brother came home from work and he did his best to console her. But he couldn't because she had waited too long and now Lincoln was gone.

And that led to her current predicament. Their friends, who didn't know about her and Lincoln, wanted to go together to the dance. She had tried to say that she couldn't make it because she had plans but her stupid brother had been walking by at the time and said that of course she could make it. That they didn't have any plans that night and that he would ask the school if he could chaperone along with Lori.

It seemed like the whole world had been against her because Cristina, Jordan, and Stella then dragged her to the mall so that they could all get 'cute' dresses. Ugh, barth!

And that's where Ronnie found herself Thursday after school, at the mall with her girl friends that she had thanks to Lincoln bridging the gap for her. Man! Even her friends were hers because of him! Couldn't she just stop thinking about him for like five minutes? Was that too much to ask? Apparently so because as they started to look for dresses, Cristina walked up to her.

"Hey Ronnie Anne, you got a sec?" Cristina asked her.

"Sure..." Ronnie said with a small shrug. She didn't want to be rude to her friend but it was hard since a part of her resented her a bit for being pretty enough that Lincoln liked her.

"I wanted to get your opinion on someone..." Cristina began, sounding nervous. And as Ronnie turned to look at her, she could see that Cristina was blushing. "Um...how do you feel about L-Lincoln?"

The question stabbed at the poor girl's heart like a knife. And for a moment, her breath felt like it was heavy in her chest. She wanted to turn around and run away. She wanted to shout and punch her friend in the face. She wanted to do so many things at that moment but she didn't. Because as much as she liked Lincoln, she knew that he wouldn't like it if she started a fight with one of their friends. And despite her heartbreak, Ronnie still saw Cristina as one of her friends.

"Oh um...Lame-O's pretty nice. I mean, he's cool once you get past the comic book nerdiness and the fact that he still watches that lame ghost show." Ronnie said, trying her best to seem calm and collected.

"Oh. But I meant, how do you feel about him...as a boy?" Cristina asked, pressing further.

Ronnie sighed. "Look, I'll be honest, Crissy, if you like Lincoln then go for it. Don't be like me and wait until it's too late."

"What do you mean?" Cristina asked.

Ronnie turned her back towards her friend. "It's obvious that Lincoln likes you so go on and make your move."

"Ronnie Anne...do...do you have feelings for Lincoln?" She asked, sounding if perhaps she was prying too deep.

Ronnie Anne stiffened before she sighed. Looks like the cat was out of the bag. She turned around to look at Cristina only to find that Girl Jordan and Stella had also joined them. And all three girls were staring expectantly at Ronnie Anne.

The tomboy took a step back from them. "What are you all staring at?" She asked.

"Ronnie Anne, do you have a crush on Lincoln?" Stella asked.

Ronnie Anne wanted to say no but she could already feel the roses blooming on her cheeks, as her mother would say when she blushed out of embarrassment. "And what if I do?" She asked defensively.

The three girls shared a look and then grinned at their friend. "Ronnie Anne, we think that we can help you out." Girl Jordan said.

Not knowing if they were being serious or not, Ronnie Anne just looked at them with a suspicious eye.

Ronnie Anne was not happy right now. Not happy at all! She was currently at Girl Jordan's house on a Friday afternoon, the night of the Halloween dance. The room was filled with the sound of excited chatter as Ronnie Anne's friends, Cristina, Jordan, and Stella, busily rummaged through Girl Jordan's collection of clothes and accessories. Ronnie Anne sat on the edge of the bed, her arms crossed and a pout on her face. She couldn't believe she had agreed to this makeover session.

"Come on, Ronnie Anne, it'll be fun!" Cristina exclaimed, holding up a sparkly black dress. "This would look amazing on you!"

Ronnie Anne sighed and reluctantly took the dress from Cristina. "I don't see why I need a makeover. It's just a stupid dance."

Stella walked over and sat beside Ronnie Anne, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We know it's hard for you, but we want to help you feel confident and have a good time. Plus, who knows? Maybe Lincoln will realize what he's missing out on."

Ronnie Anne's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Lincoln's name. She had tried to push her feelings aside, to move on, but it wasn't easy. She had spent so long crushing on him, and now that he seemed to have moved on, it hurt.

Jordan joined the conversation, holding up a pair of black heels. "These will complete the look, Ronnie Anne. Trust us, you're going to turn heads tonight."

Ronnie Anne looked at her friends, their eyes filled with determination and support. Maybe they were right. Maybe this was the chance she needed to show Lincoln what he had missed. With a sigh, she nodded and allowed her friends to work their magic.

Hours passed as the girls laughed, chatted, and transformed Ronnie Anne into a vision of confidence. They did her hair, applied makeup, and finally helped her slip into the black dress and heels. As she looked at herself in the mirror, Ronnie Anne couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. Maybe this night would be different.

The girls finished getting ready themselves, and soon they were all standing outside Girl Jordan's house, waiting for a ride to the school dance. Ronnie Anne's heart raced as they piled into the car, her mind filled with anticipation and nerves.

As they arrived at the school, the atmosphere was buzzing with Halloween spirit. Decorations adorned the halls, and eerie music played in the background. Ronnie Anne took a deep breath and stepped into the crowded gymnasium, her friends by her side.

The dance floor was packed with students, dancing and enjoying themselves. Ronnie Anne's eyes scanned the room, searching for any sign of Lincoln. Her heart sank when she couldn't spot him among the crowd.

Cristina, noticing Ronnie Anne's disappointment, grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the dance floor. "Come on, let's dance and have a great time. Lincoln's loss!"

Ronnie Anne forced a smile and allowed herself to be swept up in the music and the energy of the night. She danced and laughed, letting go of her worries for a while.

An hour passed and it seemed like maybe Lincoln wouldn't show. Ronnie Anne had danced with her friends, had fun, and almost forgotten about her feelings for Lincoln. As the current song played, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around and saw that Girl Jordan was pointing towards the entrance of the gym with her mouth hanging open. And she wasn't the only one as Stella and Cristana also starred. And when Ronnie Anne looked at what they were staring at, she felt her mouth drop.

Lincoln had come dressed as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon and Ronnie Anne felt herself go hot as how incredibly hot he looked like that. Damn Leni and her amazing tailoring skills!

As Lincoln approached Ronnie Anne, his costume only added to his charm. The sleek tuxedo, the mysterious mask, and his confident demeanor made Ronnie Anne's heart flutter. She couldn't help but admire how handsome he looked, and she felt a mix of excitement and nervousness as he stood in front of her.

"Hey, Ronnie Anne," Lincoln greeted her with a warm smile. "You look absolutely stunning tonight."

Ronnie Anne blushed at his compliment, feeling a surge of happiness and self-consciousness all at once. "Thanks, Lincoln. You look pretty amazing yourself. I didn't expect you to dress up like this."

Lincoln chuckled, his eyes filled with fondness as he looked at her. "Well, Clyde and the guys convinced me to go all out. They're dressed as some of the other Sailor Moon characters. We thought it would be fun."

Ronnie Anne glanced around and finally noticed Clyde, Rusty, Liam, and Zach nearby, each wearing their own Sailor Moon character costumes. She couldn't help but smile at their enthusiasm.

"I can't believe you all did this," Ronnie Anne said, her voice filled with genuine delight. "You guys are amazing."

Lincoln shrugged, his gaze never leaving Ronnie Anne's eyes. "We wanted to make this night special, especially for you. You deserve it."

A warm feeling spread through Ronnie Anne's chest as she realized just how much Lincoln cared for her. It wasn't just about their past misunderstandings or her unspoken feelings—it was about the genuine connection they shared. The fact that he had gone the extra mile to make her feel special melted her heart.

They joined their friends on the dance floor, their costumes adding an extra touch of magic to the night. As they danced together, Ronnie Anne couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment and hope. Maybe this was the beginning of something beautiful, something beyond their past mishaps and unspoken confessions.

As Ronnie Anne danced with Lincoln during a slow song, she couldn't help but ask. "What about Cristina?"

Lincoln's eyes widened despite wearing a mask. "What about her?"

A mix of emotions washed over Ronnie Anne as she looked into Lincoln's eyes. She could sense his genuine confusion and concern, unsure of what she meant by mentioning Cristina.

"I mean, she...she asked me about you earlier," Ronnie Anne explained, her voice barely audible over the music. "She wanted to know how I felt about you."

Lincoln's eyebrows furrowed, his grip on Ronnie Anne's hand tightening slightly. "And what did you tell her?"

Ronnie Anne took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "I told her that if she likes you, she should go for it. That she shouldn't wait like I did."

Lincoln's gaze softened, and he drew Ronnie Anne closer, his voice filled with tenderness. "Ronnie Anne, you know that there's no one else I want but you. Cristina...she's just a friend. It's always been you."

Relief flooded Ronnie Anne's heart as she heard his words. A weight she hadn't even realized she was carrying lifted from her shoulders. She had been afraid that Lincoln might have moved on, that her hesitation had cost her their chance at something more. But here he was, assuring her that his feelings hadn't wavered.

Tears welled up in Ronnie Anne's eyes, a mix of joy and vulnerability. "I'm sorry, Lincoln. I should have told you how I felt earlier."

Lincoln shook his head gently, a reassuring smile on his face. "It's okay, Ronnie Anne. We're here now, and that's what matters. Let's make the most of this night."

As they continued to dance, their movements slow and gentle, Ronnie Anne felt a sense of peace settling within her. The doubts and insecurities that had plagued her for so long began to fade away. At that moment, she knew that they had an opportunity to build something beautiful together.

As the song ended, Lincoln leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Ronnie Anne's forehead, his eyes filled with affection. "I'm glad we're together, Ronnie Anne."

Ronnie Anne smiled, her heart filled with warmth. "Me too, Lincoln. Me too."

In that moment, as they moved to the rhythm of the music, Ronnie Anne let herself be swept away by the joy and love that surrounded her. And as she locked eyes with Lincoln, she knew that this Halloween night would truly be a night to remember—a night where their feelings were no longer hidden and where their future together began to take shape.

Lori discreetly wiped away a tear that had escaped from her eye as she watched Lincoln and Ronnie Anne dance. She couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion seeing her younger brother and his new girlfriend share such a tender moment.

Bobby, standing by Lori's side, also had tears welling up in his eyes. He gently placed his arm around Lori, offering her comfort and support. They had been witnesses to Lincoln and Ronnie Anne's journey from the beginning, and seeing them happy together filled their hearts with joy.

"Lori, they look so perfect together," Bobby whispered, his voice filled with admiration. "I'm so glad they found each other."

Lori nodded, a bittersweet smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, they really do. It's like they were meant to be."

She discreetly took out her phone and showed Bobby the recording she had captured of Lincoln and Ronnie Anne dancing. The video showcased their genuine smiles, the way they moved in sync, and the love that radiated between them.

Bobby's eyes lit up as he watched the video. "This is beautiful, Lori. They'll cherish this memory forever."

Lori sniffled, trying to regain her composure. "I hope so. They've been through so much, and they deserve all the happiness in the world."

As Lincoln and Ronnie Anne's dance came to an end, the room erupted into applause. Lori and Bobby joined in, their claps filled with pride and love for their siblings. The dance floor slowly filled with other couples, but Lori and Bobby's attention remained on Lincoln and Ronnie Anne.

"I'm so grateful to have them in our lives," Lori said, her voice filled with genuine appreciation. "And I'm grateful for you too, Bobby."

Bobby squeezed Lori's hand, his eyes filled with affection. "I'm grateful for you too, Lori. Let's always support them and be there for them."

Lori nodded, her heart full of love for her brother and their siblings. As the night continued, they stood together, basking in the joy and romance that surrounded Lincoln and Ronnie Anne. And as the night came to a close, Lori knew that the recording she had captured would become a cherished reminder of the love and happiness they all shared.
