Madelyn Lennox grew up in the little one-horse town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, where nothing exciting ever happened.
At least that's what she always thought until she turned 9 that's when everything changed for her.
She had gotten into a little childish fight with her best friend causing said best friend to storm out of the Lennox household, that is when Mads found out that she was a witch, nothing unusual about that... it was Mystic Falls to be fair the unusual thing was that Mads had no history of witches in her family lineage.
Now Mads parents Jacob and Melinda knew about the supernatural since The Lennox family was a founding family, her father was on the council. They just never thought that their little girl would end up being something supernatural as there were no supernaturals in their lineage, well unless you count her aunt Julie who is a vampire, but she stays away from Mystic Falls except for about 3 days a year... Mads birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Her mother was a really good friend of Shelia Bennett and when she mentioned to the woman what had happened between Mads and Caroline and what Mads did was when Shelia informed them their daughter was a witch, but Melinda said it was impossible since they didn't have witches in either her family or her husband's family but nonetheless Shelia agreed to train Mads in the art of Witchcraft and promised she'd look into how Mads was a witch when none of the rest of her family was.
It took Shelia years to find out the reason Mads was 16 when the older witch finally found out why she was a witch.
