Chapter 1: Blake Hiiro

[Pallet Town]

Eevee leaped onto my bed, jumping up and down on my chest.

"Ow, ow, OW!" I shouted. "I'm up, I'm up! Stop jumping on me already!" Eevee always does this every morning, and it hurts every time.

"Jeez Spike, I can never get used to the way you wake me up. Every week you keep getting heavier and heavier." I said while patting the brown. dog-like creature's head.

"Man I'm tired," I said while stretching a bit–letting out a little yawn.

I opened up the window, taking in the beautiful Pallet air. I look ahead at the giant grasslands around Pallet that stretch for miles, admiring the sight.

I walked towards the mirror. My dark blue hair reached down to my sparkly blue eyes, glistening from rays of sunlight coming in through the open window.

"Looking fresh today too," I said while checking myself out. I started focusing hard on improving my physical health and appearance — the results seem to be showing.

I heard a stomach growling sound, looking down I saw a white cub tug on my PJs.

"Aw, aren't you the cutest thing ever~," I said as I knelt to pat little Chubby's head. "I'll get you some food."

Chubby jumps in excitement, I pick up the little Cubchoo and hug him. "I had another nightmare today," I said to him. Chubby understanding what I mean hugs me back, or at least tries. It's hard for it to do so with only a single arm.

Chubby was the first Pokémon I had ever received, we were basically like brothers at this point. He had always been a battle-hungry Pokémon

ever since I met him 10 years ago, at least until that event happened.

"Spike, come here," I ask the little Eevee. The Eevee hops off the bed and rushes over to me. I picked Spike and Chubby up and began walking downstairs.

Upon reaching the bottom, a red ball-like Pokémon waddles to me in excitement. "Daru, how're you feelin'?" I ask the little creature as I knelt down, placing Spike and Chubby on the ground while doing so.

The creature jumps around while shooting little bursts of flames from its mouth. "I'm glad you're feeling well." I patted little Daru on the head, then walked towards the cabinets.

I grab the limited edition "Celadon Exclusive" box of Poké Snax tucked in the corner of the cabinet. You can only buy packs of these in the spring, so these are really special. I catch Spike drooling while looking at the box.

"Come on out," I say as I throw a Pokéball into the air. A giant blue turtle Pokémon roared as he appeared out of his Poké ball. Blastoise. My trustworthy ba-well, former battle partner.

I pour the Poké Snax into each of their bowls before placing it back in the cabinet. I watch all of them proceed to devour the Poké Snax ferociously. "You all seem to be enjoying yourselves," I said with a smile.

While they all ate breakfast, I walked into the backyard to complete my daily workout. 100 pushups, 100 squats, 50 pull-ups. A painful workout but doing this every day is worth it.

….

"Finally done," I said while wiping my forehead. "Now all I need to do is eat breakfast and go on that morning run."

Walking back inside I find Chubby chasing Spike around the house.

"Chubby what's wrong?" I ask the angry white cub. Chubby squeaks while flailing its arm around, still chasing Spike. In Spike's mouth is a piece of PokSnax.

'Oh, so that's why.' I thought.

I walked back to the cabinet, grabbed the box of Poké Snax, and poured some more Poké Snax into Chubby and Spike's bowls. "There you go, no more fighting or stealing Poke Snax alright?" I said to them as I patted both of their heads with a smile.

*knock* *knock* *knock* 'Who would be knocking at the door at this time?'

"Oh, Blake~," a woman said as I opened the door.

"Mom!" I exclaimed. "You're finally back!" Giving her a tight hug, I asked, "What took you so long?"

"The business trip had me held up for a while, how are your Pokémon?" She asked.

"Even though there were some problems here and there, they're all doing fine now," I answered, releasing Mom from my hug.

"That's great." She replied. "Did you just finish a morning workout?"

"How could you tell?" I asked, rather confused.

"You're completely drenched in sweat; how could I not notice?" She covers her nose a bit.

Smelling my shirt, the foul smell of a sweaty teen filled my senses. "Oh, yeah. I need to shower soon," I respond in embarrassment.

"Yeah, you do. I'm going to go rest now." Mom said while holding her head, beginning to walk to her room.

"Oh, I almost forgot," Mom said. "Seiichi Shima wanted to talk to you, she wants you to meet her at the Shima's residence."

"Really? What would she want me for?" I asked, widening my eyes.

"She has a favor that only you could complete, and she wanted to ask you in private," Mom explained. "You think it's a love confession?" Mom asked with a sly look on her face.

"Of course not," I respond in annoyance.

"You never know these days," Mom said with a little chuckle.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever. I'll go see her after I eat breakfast." I said as I pushed Mom toward her room.

"And shower too, you reek." Mom comments, still covering her nose.

"Okay, okay, just go rest already." I push Mom away even more now.

"Alright honey, good luck," Mom said with a smile as she walked to her room.

I pour some Moomoo Milk and some Raikou Puffs into my bowl. Eating my breakfast, the only thought that came to mind was the favor.

Seiichi was always a more independent person. She never asked for a favor or help, even when she clearly needed it. Whatever she wants from me, it's gotta be important.

….

After I finish eating and showering, I call all my Pokémon back into their Poké balls aside from Spike, leaving his Poké ball on the kitchen counter.

"Let's go talk with Seiichi!" I said to Spike as I walked out the door, the little Eevee wagged his tail in excitement.

Running down the Pallet path, the scent of Pallet grass fills my senses.

"The fresh air is great out here!" I shouted with glee. "I love going out on runs every morning." Spike seemed to agree as he was still wagging his tail.

After running for a while, we eventually reached the Shima residence.

"Phew, that was a nice run. How're ya feeling Spike?" I asked him. Spike drops to the ground in exhaustion, panting. "Tired huh?"

A voice rang into my ears, "Tired from a little jog, what a weakling." Turning around, I saw the one person I did not want to see.

"Haiiro," I reply with disdain.

Haiiro and I had never mixed thanks to him being an absolute dickhead. His spiky orange-ish brown hair that reaches down over his right eye always irritates me alongside the look he gives with those, arrogant orange eyes. Although, he was one of my childhood friends a long time ago.

"What? You know I'm right," Haiiro says with a sly smirk.

"Oh shut up," I said, Spike began to hiss at Haiiro.

"Aw, the little Eevee is throwing a fit." Haiiro remarks. "Seems like it wants to battle. Sucks that it has a bitchy trainer like you."

I glare at Haiiro.

"Wow, so scary. You must really hate the idea of battle, huh?" Hairo smirks as he grabs one of his Poké balls, "So, why don't we settle this with a battle then?"

'This bitch.'

Haiiro sends out a Poké mon. The red glow of the Poké ball unleashes a dog-like mon similar to Eevee, coated in black.

"Umbreon, Dark Pulse!" Haiiro commanded.

"Spike, run!" I shouted.

Spike wasn't able to run far since he was exhausted, getting hit by the powerful beam of black energy. Spike squeals in pain

"No Spike!" I said as I ran toward the injured Pokémon.

"Hahahahaha! Poor Eevee, destined to fail because of your incompetence," Haiiro said. "Umbreon, Hyper Beam."

Umbreon began charging up an attack, countless tiny light particles began combining together a giant ball of energy.

In response to this, I grabbed Eevee and began running.

"What a bitch," Haiiro remarks. "Launch the attack at those pussies," Haiiro commands–yawning a bit.

Umbreon unleashes its Hyper Beam at the two of us.

Out of options, I grab Blastoise's Poké ball and throw it, unleashing the giant blue turtle.

"I'm sorry Blastoise, we're going to have to fight," I said to the turtle. He nods in agreement as he launches a powerful water blast from its two cannons at the Hyper Beam.

The Hyper Beam and Hydro Pump cancel each other out.

Blastoise turns back at me, waiting for a command. Putting my past behind me, I placed Spike back onto the ground and readied myself for battle.

"My my, seems like your Blastoise came out to play too," Haiiro said while walking closer.

closer.

"Rapid Spin!" I shouted.

Blastoise roars as it jumps into the air, tucking its body into its shell, and spins towards Umbreon in a fast motion.

"Hmph, dodge it Umbreon." Umbreon jumps on top of Blastoise's shell and avoids the Rapid Spin.

"Is that all you got?" Haiiro asked.

"Hell no it isn't. Keep using Rapid Spin!"

A repeated sequence of Umbreon dodging Blastoise's spin continues–each time Blastoise's speed increases.

"Ha, seems like you lost your edge. What does this even accomplish for you?" Haiiro asked in a mocking tone. "Umbreon, finish him." The Umbreon unleashes a beam of black energy at Blastoise.

"Blastoise dodge it, then use Mega Punch!" Blastoise disappears, avoiding the Dark Pulse.

"Huh?!" Haiiro shouted.

Blastoise appears in front of Umbreon, his fist glowing white with energy–lands a clean punch to its face. Umbreon winces in pain.

"Finish it Blastoise!" I shouted. "Hydro Pump!" Two jets of water shoot out of its cannons, blasting the weakened Umbreon onto Haiiro–knocking it out.

"Ugh," Haiiro grunted as he returned Umbreon to its Poké ball.

'That was close,' I thought as I rushed towards Blastoise to give him a fist bump.

"Don't think it's over yet, go-OW OW OW!" Hairo shouted as his ear got tugged by the woman behind him.

The woman has straight hair the same color as Haiiro, she's wearing a white button-up and some black leggings of some sort. She's the person I came to see, Seiichi Shima.

"Oh my, that was incredible Blake. Seems like you got over your fear of battling," the woman said while tugging Haiiro by the ear. "I'm sorry that my little brother bothered you, I'll make sure to discipline him later."

"No, NO! Seiichi, please don't," Haiiro pleaded with a tear falling down his face, presumably from the painful tugging.

There is only one person in the entire world who strikes fear into Haiiro, Seiichi Shima. Seeing Haiiro like this is always so satisfying, but tragic at the same time.

"If you don't want me to discipline you, apologize to Blake," she commanded.

"I'm sorry–OW OW OW!" he said while Seiichi began tugging on his ear harder.

"It's all good man," I said. "That battle was honestly pretty fun." I can't be too mad about it.

"Perfect, seems like this dispute was solved," she said as she let go of Haiiro's ear.

"Bitch, I swear I'm going to fucking kill you both," Haiiro muttered.

"What was that?" Seiichi asked with a scary look in her eyes.

"N-nothing!" Haiiro said as he scurried away.

"Now Blake, please come inside," she said as she opened the door.

Walking inside, we sat down and had a chat.

"Blake, like I said before I have a favor to ask of you," Seiichi said.

"What is it?" I asked, still curious about why she wanted to ask me of all people a favor.

"Join Helios Academy and figure out what the hidden Team Starlight member there is planning."

'Team Starlight huh? Sounds similar to one of those evil teams dealt with by 10-year-olds like Kaito years ago.'

"Team Starlight, who are they and what are they doing at Helios?" I asked her, intrigued.

"They're an organization situated in Unova and some parts of Kanto. You've definitely encountered them before since they're the main culprits for the incident at Saffron City 4 years ago." She explained.

My face turned serious. 'So they're the perpetrators.'

"Not much is known about their goals, but it seems like they're looking for something located in the academy," she continued.

"Why would they be at Helios of all places?" I ask. "That school is the last place I'd expect someone to infiltrate into."

"Well, that's what I want you to figure out," she said. "The member's name is Bellinor Dragonbrood, a homeroom teacher at the Academy."

Bellinor Dragonbrood, I think I've heard of him from Kuraki once. He's apparently well-liked by all.

"Wait, why are you sending me instead of somebody like Haiiro or even one of the Shiratori siblings?" I asked, somewhat confused.

"I trust your abilities, I need somebody with patience for this mission. Haiiro is the opposite of patient, and the Shiratori siblings are too well known to be stealthy about it." She explains.

I sighed. "So what do you expect me to do exactly? I'm definitely not the right person for an infiltration job as dangerous as this."

"All you need to do is find incriminating information about Team Starlight from him, it won't be that dangerous."

"You do know we're dealing with a super dangerous organization that caused the death of many in a single event, right?" I asked. "Who knows how many more will be killed by their hands."

"Trust me, it won't be that dangerous. So will you do it or not?"

"No." Putting my Pokémon at risk was not something I planned on doing.

Seiichi sighed. "I knew you would say that," Seiichi responded, looking disappointed.

"Yeah, sorry about this," I said as I stood up. As I'm about to walk out of the house, Daisy grabs the back of my shirt.

"Blake wait, please reconsider," she pleaded. "Think about it, you'll get to be a hero if you do this. Isn't that what you've always wanted to be?"

"Used to want to be," I corrected her. "Not anymore."

"You'll get to see Kuraki again, you haven't seen her in a while."

I would like to see Kuraki again, but safety comes first. I'm okay with normal Pokémon battles now but I want to avoid any confrontation with Team Starlight.

"Still no. Keeping my Pokémon out of danger is my first priority."

"What about your Pokémon? What do they think about this?" She asked.

Seiichi calls Spike towards her, picking him up. "What do you think Spike?" she asks the little Eevee. Spike wags its tail in excitement.

I sighed, "Did you seriously think that would convince me?"

"Yeah," she said, blushing a bit in embarrassment. "Did it work?"

"Of course not," I answered. "Now if you'll excu-"

Seiichi pushes herself onto me. She seemed to have started crying a bit.

"Please, I need you," she pleaded while pushing her body into my back.

My mind goes blank, if her plan was to seduce me into doing this–not gonna lie, it's working.

"Fine," I said as I pushed her off of me, the feeling of her chest pressed on my back was super distracting.

"Yay!" She jumps in excitement. "Thank you so much!" she said as she grabbed my hand with both of hers.

"When will the mission start?" I asked her. "Also, personal space please."

"Oh yeah," she said, realizing she was too close lets go of my hands.

"You'll join the academy in 4 months, which is when the next semester starts for the academy. You'll need to do whatever you can to prepare for this in the meantime. Training, catching, strategizing. Whatever you need to do in order to feel safe." Seiichi explained.

"4 months is a long time," I said while I picked up Spike, who was walking around on the floor without a care.

"It is, but you'll need all the time you could get to catch up to other trainers."

"Why would I need to catch up with them?" I asked.

"You didn't forget that the academy is literally based on Pokémon battling, right?" she asked, rather concerned. "You'll need to get on their level, being the weakest won't do you any good."

"I'm not that weak though, I managed to beat Haiiro pretty easily."

"You can't rely on 1 Pokémon doing all the work. Blastoise can win against 1 or 2, but a full team would be impossible"

"I guess you're right about that," I said while scratching my head.

"We'll talk about this more in 4 months, alright?"

"Alright, I'll get to prepping then," I said turning towards the door.

"Good luck, and thanks," Seiichi said with a smile as I walked out the door.

Walking back home, instead of thinking about what we discussed, my mind was thinking about what just happened.

I slap my face in frustration, causing Spike to jump. 'I can't believe I let her seduce me into doing this.' I thought.

Grabbing Blastoise's Poké ball, I press the circular button on the center and release him.

"We'll need to get much stronger," I told him.

Not just for Seiichi, but for revenge.
