Chapter Nineteen

September 1st, 2006

Calgary, Canada

Chloe's POV

Today's the day. I didn't mention one little detail of today's gyno visit to Arlette. Birth control. She's at the age where her hormones are running wild. If and when she decides to, she needs to be protected. Especially if she's as focused on wrestling as Bret has been telling me.

Once we get into the doctor's office we let the receptionist know we're on time for the appointment. She hands Arly a clipboard with the necessary papers to fill out. We sit down and she begins to fill in the blanks.

Of course, I'm reading her answers over her shoulder. When she gets to the birth control questions I say, " check the yes box ".

" Birth control? " She asks while looking up at me in shock. " Chloe?! "

I shrug. " What? You're old enough. "

" You said this was just a check-up. " She argues while staring down at the forms.

What's with the defensiveness? I'm just trying to help? " It is, Arl. This is all a part of it. Many girls your age start taking it. Earlier even. There are more benefits than it protecting you from pregnancy... It can help your menstrual cycles among other things. "

" Why is being a woman so hard? " She huffs out in irritation.

Shaking my head I chuckle. " Because if it weren't we'd be men. You're going to be just fine, you know? Like I said, you have me to guide you. And trust me when I say that you're lucky. The first time I had to do this was with Owen. Let me tell you, it was the most humiliating experience of my life. "

" Really? Uncle Owen brought you here? Did he make fun of you? " She asks having known him for a bit before his accident.

Flashback

" Come on Owen... Do we really have to be here? " I whine like the teenager I am.

He doesn't say anything but he does grab my hand and drags me into the doctor's office anyway. The vagina doctor to be exact. As if being a woman isn't hard enough now Owen wants me to let some stranger look at my most secret of areas.

He sighs and leads me up to the front desk. " Her name is Chloe Andri. She has an appointment with Dr. Tillburn. "

" You need to fill these out. " The assistant says handing over a clipboard with paperwork attached.

He hands me the clipboard and I look at the questions with a frown. I know the answers to the basic ones but the others? Not so much. How am I supposed to finish this? My heart is beating out of my chest at this point and I can feel the tears welling in my eyes from embarrassment.

" No one is going to hold it against you. It's not your fault. " Owen says sensing my unease and guessing what was wrong as usual. " Just put what you know, Chloe. The doctor can figure things out from there. "

Blinking the tears away I nod in appreciation. " I can't remember the last time I went to a real doctor. "

" Tell her that. " He says gently. " She's going to be your regular G-Doc so you might as well be honest and upfront. That way she can give the correct information to your GP when you go in for your physical. "

He just had to remind me about the physical. It's the only test I've ever truly wanted to pass. If I do, Owen and Bret said they'd start training me ASAP. Ever since they put me in that ring for the first time two months ago, it's all I can think about. I've never wanted anything more.

Present

" Of course not! " I defend him. " He was very sweet about it. Like you and millions of other girls, I was very shy about the changes in my body. "

I also had a bunch of other things on my mind at the time. " It wasn't a picnic for him either I'm guessing... But he made sure that I knew everything was in order and healthy. I'm absolutely making sure I do the same for my baby sister. "

" Okay, fine! But I'm still not having sex any time soon. " She says with a huff.

She has no idea how glad I am to hear that.

September 4th, 2006

By the time I'm on my way back to business as usual, Arlette is fully on board with the birth control thing. After the doctor explained the benefits outside of sexual activities to her she felt much better. Sometimes all it takes is a professional telling you. Now that she's on the right track I can definitely sleep better.

Not that I don't believe her when she says she isn't ready for sex. I just know at that age, I was a hormonal mess. At her age, I had already experimented with sex. I hadn't gone all the way but one of the boys around my age definitely explored each other thoroughly with fingers and lips.

I can see how things can get carried away and just because I didn't do it, doesn't mean she won't. If it happens it's perfectly normal and I want her to be protected, informed, and ready.

Walking through the airport I get loads of attention from fans. I sign a bunch of autographs before going to baggage claim.

" Excuse me? Are you THE Chloe Andri? "

Turning around I see my fiance and laugh before launching myself into his arms. " I missed you. " I say into his neck.

His arms tighten around me. " Me too, darlin'. "

" Get a room. " Hunter says effectively blowing our reunion as he walks up.

Flipping him off behind Shawn's back I say, " Deal with it, dipstick. "

" You just be glad you made it back in time. " He says while flipping me off right back and giving me a crotch chop.

Shawn, knowing something happened behind his back, chuckles before taking my bag. They wave at some of the fans that were circling around, and then we head out to the venue.

Tonight Hunter and Shawn are going out to confront Vince and Shane after getting beaten. I'm getting left out to show the fans that it's personal man to man to man to man. Which is fine by me since after beating Melina I've been trying to get my own sub-plotline. I have the momentum and I'm not planning on letting it pass me by.

Lord knows I don't wish to continue pulverizing that talentless hack every week. I need a challenge and I think Beth Phoenix and I could make it to the main event. I've seen her in action and she is good-good.

So much in fact, that I'm on my way to Stephanie's office to discuss the possibilities. Hey, what good is having pull around here if I can't put it to use from time to time? Huh, I guess there was a reason we were so hated back in the day. Oops.

Knocking on the door marked with Stephanie's name, I wait for it to open. When it does my sister-in-law's smiling face greets me on the other side.

" Hey sis, how's my niece? " I say walking into her office.

She takes her seat and beams up at me. " She's great! My mom is having a ball with her now that I'm back to working full-time. "

" I bet she's loving every minute of her granddaughter. " I say sitting across from her and crossing my legs.

Nodding she says, " oh, she is. So to what do I owe this meeting? "

I grin evilly at her. " I was thinking... "

"Every time you've said that in the past, I've lived to regret it. " She reminds me.

And of course, I can't pass up the opportunity to return the favor. " And every time it has made this company millions so let's not nitpick little sister. " I say firmly but still with the air of needing a favor. " I want Beth Phoenix. Not as a vendetta like Melina. Seeing her athletic acumen I know we can give the fans great matches. "

" Chloe... " She says in the tone executives use when they're about to shoot you down. " I know you want to use this momentum- "

" Absolutely. " Interrupt before she can say no. " I know you know that since I've gotten into the business, I've wanted to elevate female talent. Lita and I rocked our main event. Me beating Melina from one end of the arena to the next was the highest-rated match the company has seen in months. "

She looks like she wants to argue but doesn't so I continue. " I want to use that to usher in a new era. I don't want Arlette coming into an uneven playing field. Let's be honest, with Arly, and now Aurora, the future of this company is female. Let's drive that point home. "

" Well, Chloe... " She says through pursed lips. " You've definitely given me a lot to think about. Let me have a talk with Hunter and my dad and I'll get back to you. "

I nod and take my leave. Business is business and I know she'll be able to convince my brother and her father.

At least I didn't get a flat " no ".

Author's Note: Sorry for disappearing from this story... I'm not finished with it I just had bursts of inspiration for other stories but I'm back! This will be coming to an end in three or four chapters but don't worry, I already have a sequel planned that Arlette will have a bigger part in. I also have a prequel fic planned as well that will go through Chloe meeting Owen and getting into the WWF onward.
