The blonde witch answered the phone, "Hey Bonnie, what's up?"
"Hey Mads I was just hoping that we could talk, I want to know more about you also being a witch like I've had no one but Grams to talk to about this, and it would just be nice to talk to someone my age that understands."
The Lennox witch smiled, "Of course Bon-Bon, where do you want to meet up?"
"Grams' house, if that's okay with you." the Bennett witch knew that it would be best to have this conversation in a more private place, so she suggested Sheila's house as the meeting place.
"That's perfect Bon-Bon I'll be there soon." then she hung the phone up and looked at Kol "Well until next time then."
"Where are you off to?" The original questioned curiously.
The blonde smiled at her soulmate, "I am meeting up with Bonnie, she's another of my best friends you just haven't met her yet, and she's a Bennett witch, but she just came into her magic very recently, so she's still relatively new to all of this, and we are going to bond over magic and witch stuff."
Kol nodded at her, "Ooooh, okay then that's great little witch. I knew a Bennett witch once, back when I was human. Her name was Ayana, and she was like a mother figure to my siblings and I because our own mother wasn't much of one… a Bennett witch is a good ally to have as well, you'd rather be on the same side as one rather than opposing them."
Madelyn smiled at him, "Ooooh she was probably one of Bonnie's ancestors then… I'll see you later, Kol."
The youngest original brother smiled at the blonde witch, "All right, little witch, later." And then she stopped the spell, grabbed a few things and put them in her bag, including her favorite grimoire, and then left her house and headed over to Sheila's since that was where she was meeting Bonnie.
The Lennox witch was excited that she could finally talk about magic with Bonnie, she had been waiting for the girl to come into her magic since she learned about the possibility of it happening.
Madelyn pulled up in front of the familiar house and got out of her car and walked up to the door and knocked and a few minutes later Bonnie opened the door, Sheila was at work she taught Occult Studies at Whitmore College, and she went to do some lesson planning.
"Mads!" The two witches hugged.
"Hey Bon." The two were sitting at the kitchen island now.
The Bennett witch looked at the blonde, "I just never thought that anyone would understand what I'm going through with the whole magic thing… like, why did no one tell me about it before now? It would have been so much easier for me to adjust had I known before."
Madelyn nodded at her "I understand Bon, it's a lot to take in, but for you, Grams is a witch and so is your mother, so it's not surprising that you would be one and Grams probably wanted to wait until you started showing signs of magic before telling you about it because of the very slight chance that you would take after your dad, who is from what I've gathered completely human and not inherit the witch gene, but for me, it was a complete surprise because no one in my family has ever been a witch, and I was nine when I tapped into my magic."
Bonnie got an understanding look on her face hearing Madelyn's explanation of why Grams probably didn't tell her about all of it before she started showing signs of her magic and nodded, "Wow, that makes sense about why she waited to tell me about it," then she looked surprised "woah, so if no one in your family has magic… how do you have it? Because from what I've gathered from Grams' lessons is that like you mention it's inherited."
Madelyn smiled at her other best friend, "It's not impossible, to inherit magic when no one else in your family has it, but it's very, rare and unusual, like I said I was nine, it was after a fight that I had with Caroline, the one where we didn't talk for a week… mom brought me here to Sheila and explained the situation and Grams tested me and confirmed that I was a witch, and then she said that the magic I had, was very powerful for it to have manifested that young because 15-16 is the typical age that magic in a young witch shows… but she said she would look into the reasoning to why I had magic when it wasn't common in my family." she paused making sure Bonnie was with her, "it's a very long story Bon, but I'm gonna tell it to ya."
The Bennett witch nodded, "Okay, thank you, Mads, for trusting me with this."
Madelyn winked at her, "Of course, Bon-Bon us witches gotta stick together." Bonnie smiled at the blonde witch, she was very grateful to have someone else who understood exactly what she was going through right now.
Madelyn continued her story from where she left off. "Okay, so after that Mom brought me here for Sheila to help me train my magic, and she looked into it like she said she would, but it took a while for her to find an answer, and I've only known about the reason, for like a couple of months maybe? It was the day after Dad and I got back from visiting my aunt Julie in Cali… so for seven years, I knew that I was a witch and had trained and practiced my magic with Grams and on my own as well, but I didn't know why I was different, and I couldn't tell anybody because it could have put me in danger and my parents, Sheila and I were the only ones that knew about it well and my aunt Julie but yeah." Madelyn took a breath and gave Bonnie a smile, "questions so far? I'm getting there, anyway, as I said, it's a very long story."
"No, I think I'm good to just wait and hear the rest of the story, then ask the questions at the end."
Madelyn nodded "Okay then continuing with the story, I met with Sheila after school that day, and she told me everything that she had found out, she said that my situation was a very rare one which is why it took so long to find out the answer. And to be honest, it was not what I was expecting, but I decided to just roll with it because there was no use in fighting it, what she told me was that I am a witch because I am connected to someone, who is a vampire now, I don't know how much you know about them, but we will come back to that in a little bit, but before that, he was a very powerful witch, and one isn't supposed to be a witch and a vampire, so when a witch is turned they lose their magic and connection to nature, so the witch spirits on the other side found a way to rectify this for this particular person because losing his magic made him spiral down a very dark path, so they gave him a soulmate, me and connecting us through the magic that he lost when he became a vampire because as I've learned he can see and feel when I do magic so in a way it's almost as if he has his magic back when I do magic… but Soulmates are very rare, and it's even rarer that soulmates are connected through magic… and that is basically it, so questions now?"
Bonnie looked at the blonde wide-eyed, "So you're a witch because of your soulmate? And vampires exist?" The Bennett witch was surprised about the vampire thing, they hadn't gotten to that part in her lessons with Grams.
Madelyn nods, "Yep, and yes they do, though I will say that some vampires aren't bad, but there are some that are, my aunt Julie is a vampire, and I'd trust her with my life, one of my other best friends Lexi is a vampire as well, and I would also trust her with my life, there is also my friend Katherine who is a vampire, she's not all bad but can be to put it simply a manipulative bitch when she wants to be, but she has her moments, though that may just be for me because she likes me and has a very high sense of self-preservation because she also knows about the whole soulmate thing, and she also knows who he is, or well she's heard of him and from my own research, I can understand where she's coming from with it, hang on let me see if I can tell you about the other vamp that I would trust, I want to get permission from them before I tell you."
Bonnie was surprised as she took in the information that Madelyn was giving her, she nodded, "Okay."
Madelyn pulled out her phone and texted Stefan asking him if she could tell Bonnie about him being a vampire, since Stefan was her friend, she wanted to make sure that he was cool with it before she did, Damon she didn't care about, and would tell Bonnie about him after Stefan if the younger Salvatore said it was okay.
Stefan answered her back a few minutes later, saying that it was okay for her to tell Bonnie about him being a vampire. Madelyn slipped her phone back into her pocket after sending him back a thumbs up. "Okay, so he said that it was cool to tell you, so the other one that is a vampire that I would trust is Stefan, which is why you got that feeling the first time you touched him, every witch gets that same feeling the very first time they touch a vampire, and they also see glimpses of their lives."
"So Stefan isn't going to hurt Elena then?" Bonnie had been concerned about the feeling she got when she touched Stefan for the first time.
"Not intentionally, at least he really just wants to have a normal experience… but Damon on the hand, is the one to watch out for, he is one of the bad ones, I had already known a little about him from knowing Stefan for a few years now, I had never met him, but Stefan had told me some things about him, which is why I didn't trust him when he was using Caroline which is exactly what he was doing, using her… but I taught him a little lesson in messing with the people that I care about so if he's smart he'll listen, and I won't have to do it a second time which will be immeasurably more painful than the first time."
Bonnie gave her a look, "I have a feeling that I don't want to know the details about that, even though I'm a little curious about it…"
Madelyn laughed, grinning at her fellow witch, "Yeah, you probably don't want to know Bon-Bon…. It's also probably better that you don't."
Bonnie grinned at the blonde witch, "That's what I thought…" The girl's eyes fell onto the 'M' pendant necklace that Madelyn was wearing, she had never seen the blonde wear it before, "is that a new necklace? I've never seen you wear it before."
A smile slipped onto the blonde's face as she ran her finger across the pendant, thinking about Kol always brought a smile to her face, "Oh yeah that, it is new, it belongs to Kol, it's his family crest, my aunt Julie found it in a grimoire that she bought in some voodoo shop in Spain, and she gave me the grimoire and the necklace was inside of it when she bought it but had fallen out, and she found it after Dad and I left her place, so she mailed it to me and when she sent it I didn't know that first bit that I mentioned."
Bonnie had never seen the blonde witch so happy, and it made her smile, "So Kol is the soulmate then?"
Madelyn nodded "Yep, Bon-Bon that's correct."
The Bennett witch gave the blonde a curious look, "How did you find out that it was his?"
"Okay, so it's a little complicated, but basically he's kind of incapacitated at the moment, it's a long story that I'll get into at a different time, but I was doing this really complicated spell a while back, and I felt this presence that I had never noticed before and Caroline was like well maybe that was your soulmate because you're connected through magic right? And maybe he could feel it, and I was like wait a minute you make a valid point, and then I found a spell in the grimoire that my Aunt Julie gave me that can reveal the unseen, and turns out it really was him, and then he explained that he could feel and see whenever I did magic… after I got the necklace from aunt Julie, he recognized it, since I was wearing when I summoned him the next time, and then he explained what it was, and I told him I could take it off and put it up for him, but he said he didn't mind me wearing, so I have really only taken it off to shower since then."
Bonnie blinked slightly surprised that Caroline knew about this, the blonde human never even let on that she really knew what was happening, and she smiled slightly she could see that Madelyn was happier than she had ever seen her whenever she talked about Kol, "Wait Caroline knows? How long has she known? Awwh that's sweet."
Madelyn then remembered that they didn't know that the Forbes girl knew about everything going on, "oh right I forgot that I was the only one that knew that she knew anything about what's going on in this town, yes she knows and has since after the founder's party, umm Damon had told her and was compelling her to keep her quiet about it and I noticed, that she was acting strange, so I offered her my help and, she said she wanted to remember, so I removed his compulsion from her, got her on vervain to prevent further compulsion and told her about my magic and everything then, Care was there when I made first contact to find out if it was my soulmate's presence that I felt doing the compulsion removal spell. Yeah, I just feel more connected to him when I have it one."
The Bennett girl was impressed that Caroline had been able to fool them all, "So she's just faking not knowing about any of it?"
Madelyn nodded "Yeah pretty much… after finding out what he did, I was this close" Madelyn made the motion to show, "to murdering Damon, the night of the founders' party, and he would be dead right now if Stefan hadn't been there and begged me not to do it… the little bastard messed with the wrong person when he chose Caroline to screw around with… he'd have to be completely stupid to even get near her again after what I did to him today."
"Wait, that lesson you mention teaching Damon happened today?"
Madelyn nodded, "Yeah, it's what I had just finished with when you called actually… and he would be even stupider to come after me because and even though they don't know it yet, I happen to have the oldest family of vampires on my side because of who my soulmate is."
The Bennett witch gives her a look, "damn Mads."
The blonde witch laughed and nodded, "I know, but it was satisfying… I've got to teach you some protection spells that will help you in a confrontation with a vampire, but that will be after you get some more practice in… which I can help you there too if you want."
Bonnie looked at Mads, "Really, you'd help me practice?"
The Lennox witch just grinned at her friend, "Of course Bon-Bon, as I told you, us witches gotta stick together… and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let anyone walk all over any of my best friends… I mean, look at what I did to Damon for what he did to Caroline, I would do that for you to Bonnie."
The Bennett witch smiled at the blonde and pulled her into a hug, "Thanks Mads, at least I know I have you in my corner no matter what… and I'd do the same for you Mads." Madelyn hugged the Bennett witch a little tighter before they let go.
She was not going to let anyone use Bonnie because of her magic, she meant that. "Okay, so Bon-Bon… Do you want to meet Kol? Because I can now do the spell that makes him visible, without reading it from the grimoire."
Bonnie grinned at her blonde friend, "Duh, I need to assess him, so does Care approve of him?"
Madelyn laughed, giving the Bennett witch a look, "Approve? Bon honey, she's claimed the role of captain of the damn ship, she's done chose our ship name and everything."
Bonnie laughed and nodded. "Okay, fair point, would not expect any less from Caroline, so what's the ship name then? But yes, Mads, I would like to meet him."
"Kodelyn is our official ship name…"
"Ooh, that's cute."
"Yeah, it took a while for her to get there. The first suggestions she gave were just not it… okay, then I will do the spell right now." Madelyn closed her eyes and did the spell, a grin stretched across her face as she felt the familiar tug and warm sensation of Kol's presence.
Bonnie watched the blonde witch in awe as the figure of a man started to appear as Madelyn did her spell. "Miss me already, little witch?"
Madelyn playfully rolled her eyes at him, "Yeah, you wish… do you want to meet Bonnie or not? If so, then hush."
Bonnie stood back watching the two interact with one another. Kol immediately smirked at the Lennox witch but held his hands up in an 'I surrender' type of way. The blonde grinned at him, "That's what I thought."
Bonnie smirked looking between the two, "You got him whipped already, I see Mads."
Madelyn shrugged, smirking at the Bennett witch, while Kol had a confused look on his face, which the blonde witch thought was adorable. "Okay so Bonnie Bennett, meet Kol Mikaelson and Kol that's Bonnie."
Bonnie looked at him for a moment as if to size him up before she smiled, "Hi, it's nice to meet you."
Kol was nervous for a moment even though he wasn't there physically he knew the power that a Bennett witch held, he was practically raised by one, that was until Bonnie smiled. "Nice to meet you too, Bonnie, as I was telling Madelyn I knew a Bennett witch back before I was a vampire."
The young Bennett witch gave him a surprised look, "Really? Who was it?"
Kol smiled slightly, a nostalgic look in his eyes, "Ayana Bennett, she was one of the nicest people you could ever meet until you got on her bad side, she practically taught me everything that I knew about magic… but I'll tell you one thing Bennett witches are forces to be reckoned with… from what Madelyn said you're just coming into your magic, it gets easier with practice and I will tell you one thing don't ever let anyone use you for your magic."
Madelyn smiled, "I am not gonna let that happen" Bonnie smiled at the blonde, she really was thankful to have someone that understood what she was going through right now.
A while later, Sheila Bennett came home to find her granddaughter and Madelyn sitting on the counter of the island in the kitchen, with a brunette male that she didn't recognize sitting on a stool in front of them.
The two girls were laughing at the story that Kol was telling them. Bonnie giggled and shook her head "No way I saw that spell in one of the grimoires that Grams let me read, you helped create that?"
Kol nodded, "Yeah it was a silly little spell, I just wanted to prank my little sister… mother was not amused by my use of my magic, but I could see the little glint of amusement in Ayana's eyes, so at least someone was proud of my display of magic."
Madelyn had been told a lot about Esther by Kol, and she gave them a serious look, "I swear to God… I ever come across her, I'mma throttle her stupid witch bitch ass."
Kol gave her a look though if you looked closely you could see the glint that showed his appreciation that Madelyn cared enough to want to hurt Esther for everything she has done to him and his siblings "Easy little witch…" he could feel her magic flaring at the thoughts running through her head.
Madelyn blew out a breath, "Right, sorry, it's just she's a sorry excuse for a witch and I can't stand her just from the things that Kol has told me about the woman."
Kol gave the blonde a mischievous grin, "Well you are right about that little witch, she's almost as much of a sorry excuse for a mother as she is a witch…"
The Lennox witch snorted at that and Bonnie took a moment to change the subject, "Okay, so I know you briefly mentioned it but this spell how does it work exactly?"
Madelyn grinned at her friend, "Okay so basically as I mentioned earlier it reveals the unseen, but it could also be dangerous because if you don't know what you're looking for when you do the spell it could open a door for other spirits to go through and interact with our world, it also takes a lot to keep it going."
"Really? It doesn't seem like it."
The Lennox witch grinned at that, "Well it took a lot out of me the first few times, but now I've done it so much that I could probably do it in my sleep and still summon the right person."
The young Bennett witch nodded as Sheila stood in the doorway just listening because her magic wasn't sensing this man as a threat to the two girls. "All right, that makes sense…"
Kol and Madelyn shared a look, which made Bonnie give them an apprehensive look not knowing what that could mean, "Are you thinking what I'm thinking little witch?"
The blonde grinned at him, "Well if you're thinking I should teach her the vervain spell, then yes we're thinking the exact same thing…"
Kol smirked, "yeah, that is exactly what I was thinking."
Bonnie looked between them, "what's the vervain spell?"
"Just a little spell of my own creation… so there's a spell that turns blood and other bodily fluids to acid… it's pretty much that but instead of acid it's vervain… bam instant vampire protection spell." She shared a look with Kol, before speaking again, "and well, all I will say on it is that it seems very painful and effective, and I'll just leave it at that."
Bonnie snorted, realizing that Madelyn tested the spell out on Damon earlier that day when she taught him the little lesson she taught him. "Gotcha Mads."
The blonde witch gave Bonnie a look, "You know Bon-Bon I'm surprised you're not more bothered by that." She knew that Bonnie knew what she meant by that.
The young Bennett witch shrugged, "Well if what you said is true, and I don't believe that you would lie about something like that, then it was deserved…"
Madelyn nodded, "Okay fair enough, and yes it was very much deserved."
That was when Sheila made herself known, "Hello girls, what are you talking about, and who is your friend?"
Both girls smiled, "Hi Grams."
"Hi, Ms. Sheila."
"Mads and I were just talking about magic… it's just nice to have someone my age to talk to about all of this."
Sheila nodded at her granddaughter, "All right, then that answered one question."
Madelyn grinned, "Ms. Sheila this is Kol, Kol, Sheila Bennett," she then turned back to the older Bennett witch "It's a bit of a long story but to simplify it Kol is my soulmate, and he's an Original."
That was when Sheila noticed the necklace around Madelyn's neck and recognized it as the Mikaelson family crest. And then it made sense why her magic wasn't sensing Kol as a threat because he could never hurt Madelyn being her soulmate and wouldn't hurt her friends either knowing that in turn, it would hurt her. "Ahhh well I'll leave the guys to it," she nodded toward Kol, "it was nice meeting you."
"You as well," Kol answered back, and the woman walked out of the kitchen, leaving the three of them to continue their conversation.
