Chapter Twenty-Eight:
No Other Options
Outside the castle, Boopkins donned a tie and took to a podium, speaking into a microphone for his friends and the military to hear as he did what he could do to ensure that the castle wasn't destroyed and that Mario, Meggy and SMG3 had enough time to get SMG4 safe from that strange monstrous thing that posed a massive threat.
"I have a dream that we can all live in peace..." Boopkins said, "...and we can all co-exist together!"
Swag rolled his eyes in annoyance and held a gun in his hand. How long was this going to go on?
Boopkins was about to say more when the ground rumbled and everyone looked up, watching with shock as the massive goopy monstrosity covering the castle got larger. Luigi, Bob, Tari and Saiko prepared for action, the tanks rolled in, but Boopkins, despite having his podium knocked over by the commotion, tried to salvage the situation.
"Guys, wait!" Boopkins pleaded, "Love will pull through! Love always prevails!"
"Really hate to say it, but, told ya so!" Swag called.
"BOOPKINS!" Saiko called, "WE NEED TO TEAR DOWN THE CASTLE! OTHERWISE, THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM IS IN DANGER!"
The anime-loving ex-Spike knew that his former girlfriend was right, especially with that massive monster getting large by the second. In fact, those tentacles were getting bigger and more disturbing. Peace wasn't an option, it never was an option, and the heroes could not delay any longer, especially if sacrifices had to be made.
"Swag?!" Sergeant Mark asked.
"FIRE!" Swag shouted.
"ALL BATTERIES, FIRE IN THE HOLE!" Chris howled.
With the command relayed, the tanks opened fire and Swag smiled with glee as missiles fired. The rockets burst out of the tanks' barrels and streaked towards the monstrous entity covering the castle. An explosion rocked the world and Swag observed the fiery blaze before turning to Chris with a hopeful grin.
"Hand me my medal, Chris." He said confidently, "Because I just save the world once again."
Just then, the smoke cleared and shock filled the environment as everyone saw the goop monster was still standing along with the castle.
"WHAT?!" Swag shouted, "IMPOSSIBLE!"
Saiko looked down. "We need to sink the castle." She said grimly.
"But... won't this sink the castle... forever?" Boopkins inquired.
"There's no other choice..." The anime girl told him.
"KEEP FIRING!" Chris yelled, "FIRE EVERYTHING UNTIL WE HIT A WEAK SPOT!"
Saiko looked to the others grimly, Luigi nodded and so did Tari and Bob. Then, they headed off to find explosives as Swag and Chris fired all they had at the corrupted castle, even as the tentacles continued to emerge and the sentient demonic goop got bigger. Time was of the essence; the Mushroom Kingdom was in grave peril if the entity expanded beyond the castle...
