I don't own anything, other than the characters of this story. I don't own the storyline, R.L. Stine does.

But I hope you enjoy it!

Later that night, when all was quiet, I opened my bedroom door, and walked down the stairs. When I came to the last step, I jumped over it, because it's the only step that squeaks.

I looked both ways for any sign of my parents or Matt, but when I didn't see any sign of life, I continued into the living room.

I grinned to myself as I walked closer to the cuckoo clock. It was almost 12 o'clock, which meant the bird would come out any second.

When I saw the door spring open, I reached up and twisted the cuckoo bird's head to the left. Some kind of wind knocked me to the floor, but I got up and started to walk out the living room.

But just as I reached the steps, the cuckoo clock went off again. So, I turned around and it was levitating, following me.

I tried to scream, but when no sound came out of my mouth, I bolted upstairs and into my bedroom.

I laid down in bed, tucked safely under the covers, expecting the clock to burst in the middle of my room.

For the rest of the night, I twisted and turned, not being able to sleep.

That morning, I woke up to the sound of my mom, walking into my bedroom. "Becca, get up! Your guests will be here in an hour!"

She pulled me out of bed, bringing me into the kitchen. Which was decorated just like it was last week, on my sixteenth birthday. "Happy birthday, Becca, honey." Dad said, from atop the ladder, as he was hanging the banner.

"What? It's not funny. My birthday was last week." I said, confused why they were pulling this on me.

"Please take off your pajamas and put on a t shirt and shorts. They'll be here anytime."

"Mom, the jokes over."

"What joke, honey?" She was really playing the part well.

Matt stepped into the kitchen, a big, huge grin on his face. "I get to go to your party." Before he walked out, he stuck his tongue out at me.

An hour later, all the guests had arrived and I realized that I had gotten a do over. I would make sure that Matt didn't get a chance to ruin my party this time.

So, this time, when I carried the cake in, I looked down at where Matt had been waiting for me before. When I saw that he was not there, I continued into the living room with a smile on my face.

But one second I was walking, then the next I was flying down to the floor, cake going everywhere. I got up and wiped all of the icing out of my eyes. Matt was laying on the floor from the other side of the door, giggling behind his hands.

I changed what happened, but why did it still happen? I thought.

I turned around to see everyone else laughing at me. But like before, Ella was the only one that wasn't laughing. Brianna Lyons grinned. "Hey, Becca, aren't you supposed to serve your guests first?"

I rolled my eyes at that, which was something she didn't expect me to do. I could tell that by the look in her eyes. There was shock, confusion, and weirdly enough, respect.

I walked back into the kitchen to wipe all of the icing off my face. Once I got it all off my face, I walked back into the living because it was time to open my presents.

I sat down where I had the first time, beside Ella, as she handed me a brown bag with yellow wrapping paper stuffed into it. "Hang on, let me guess. It's from you and it's a football."

Her eyes widened in surprise. "How'd you know?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "Just a lucky guess, I suppose." I was having a hard time controlling my laughter.

I got through all of the other presents when I got down to the last one, and of course, I knew exactly who it was from. I pulled off the wrapping paper and smiled down at the Def Leppard cd. "Gee, thanks, Jake. I don't have this one yet."

When I saw Matt start to open his mouth, I reached forward grabbed a thick chunk of cake off the floor and stuffed it into his mouth. "Hmm. Lemony."

I laughed and eventually everyone else laughed too.

Later that night, when I was brushing my teeth and getting ready for bed, Matt burst into the bathroom with the phone in his hand. "Phones for you."

I took it from him, suspiciously. "Who's on the line? Ella?"

Matt shook his head. "No, it's someone named Jake."

I almost dropped the phone onto the floor. "Jake Tyler?"

"Uh-huh." With that, he shut the door.

"Hello? Jake?"

"Hi, Becca. Matt told me something about you."

All the color drained from my face. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that Matt called me and told me that you have a crush on me. Is it true?"

I gasped and ran to the hall phone and plunked down the receiver. "Matt! You're in so much trouble!"

Before I went to bed that night, my parents came to say good night. "Sleep good, Becca, dear. We'll see you in the morning."

After they walked out, I muttered a few things. "You and me both. You and me both."

That night it took me so long to finally fall asleep. I was fighting sleep, fearing the fact that I'd be stuck in the same day for the rest of my life.

I really hope they tomorrow is a new day. And even if it isn't, I'll make the best out of tomorrow.
