He marvelled at the adornment of black underwear. Less Greek widow, more Elvira. Very tasty.

'Black suits me. I feel like it matches my inner struggle. Half deeply depressed, half yearning for excitement.'

She had struck a pose that had him yearning for excitement.

'Have you ever been married, Rose?' He asked idly, stroking the lace at her hip.

'Once. It did terrible things to my sex life.'

He laughed. He liked her sense of humour. He'd only learned her name once they'd got to the hotel room. This was apparently where the night was taking them. No complaints from him. They'd sparked up a bond. They'd draped themselves over the functional double bed and talked. Rose had never been to a hotel room to just talk. But Emmet really did want to pick her brains on a performance. He wanted her to be his muse. What a novelty. She'd stripped off and stood in front of him but he was still just looking at her with fondness. Just lying across the bed stroking her lingerie. It was endearing. She was glad to be wearing her best set. It just goes to show, you never knew when you'd end up revealing your undies.

'Have you been married, Emmet?'

'I was. Been divorced for a couple of years now. She got the house and I got the piano.'

She sat next to him making consoling noises.

'How awful.'

'I prefer having the piano.'

She tutted.

'I used to think that being divorced was the worst state in the world. Then I moved in with my sister and found out that there are worse people to still be married to.'

'Tell me about it.'

She reeled off a list of names.

'More often than not, they end up cheating on me' she said furiously.

He sympathised until he heard that the other women were the other wives.

'Don't you ever find a single man?' He asked incredulously.

'Well, sometimes. They aren't always available. Or equipped with table manners. The swines.' Her voice rang out in indignation.

'Lucky I'm not still married otherwise you might have ruined my marriage.'

'Do you think so?'

She looked coy.

'It's not quite a compliment!' said Emmet, laughing at such audacity.

She looked delighted. Even more so when he reached for her and they put talking business to one side for the night.
