Chapter 2 I Gotta Run Another Night

Stoic looked over his shoulder smiling at the sight of his small daughter giggling while picking the small white daisy flowers that adorned the trail they where journeying on.

It had been some time now Since Valka had been taken and though he did his best to be there for his daughter while also managing an entire village he knew he had let some things slip through.

Like letting Gobber handle watching over her to the point that now Hiccup's eyes were always searching for him instead of her father in a crowd or when she was afraid.

He knew he had to do something spend more time with her he was her father for crying out loud! She just looked so much like her mother and whenever he looked into those familiar eyes all he could see was the one person he couldn't save. Stoic didn't want the same to happen to Hiccup if it did he would never recover.

He smiled as he watched her continue to collect the flowers. "Come along lass we can't stay out here forever we have fish to catch."

He wanted to do something with her his father had done with him and fishing seemed the safest at least when it came to Hiccup.

She nodded while coming up to him and offering him her hand. He felt warmth inside his heart as he took her tiny fragile hand into his giant one. Wanting to chuckle when he noticed her other hand still had the flowers clenched in them.

They went off into the river bank stopping when he found the perfect spot. He showed her how line her rod and they cast their rods into the water. Some time went on and a fish caught on his line he reeled it in. "Ah look at that!" He cried to his daughter reeling in a large fish. She watched in amazement before determination took over her gaze as she looked at her pole.

Stoic put his fish in a bucket and sat with his daughter for some time before she gasped in surprise and anticipation and began to pull in her own fish. Her excitement quickly faded as the fish she pulled out was a just a tiny one, one that wouldn't be big enough for even a small meal. Her eyes went downcast as the fish plopped on the land.

Stoic quickly grabbed the fish before going over to Hiccup and putting his arm over her shoulder hugging her to his chest. She looked up to him with watery eyes. "It's okay Hiccup it's great to even catch a fish at all on your first trip."

She glanced over at the bucket with his fish before looking over to the fish in his hand. Something came over Stoic as she did this then he remembered Gobber pulling him a side to talk about how the kids her age had been picking on her a lot recently Gobber stepped in when he could but according to him her cousin Snotlout had taken to calling her a fish bone and the children had followed his lead. looking down at her he brought over the small fish she had caught into her line of sight. "You know what Hiccup?"

"What?" She asked. eyes meeting his as if he had all the greatest answers to life. "Sometimes the smallest fish are the luckiest."He informed her gently.

"They are?"She asked curiously. Taking another glance to the small fish in his hand. A little bit of doubt in her eyes and voice.

"Indeed they get to live to see another day while the big fish become dinner."He said before throwing her fish back into the river where it disappeared beneath the currents.

She looked at him curiously. "And do the little fish get bigger?"

"Hopefully with time someday." He said staring at her knowingly.

"Then i hope i stay small forever. "She declared. He laughed at her statement. "Or just be careful and don't get caught.'He added on for her.

"I won't."She said with certainty hands clasping together as she met his gaze head on again. "You'll protect me."

A lump formed in his throat. He stared into those bright green eyes filled with such trust for the person right in front of her. "Yes Hiccup I will. I Will indeed."

He hugged the small girl right in front of him her small arms barely big enough to go all the way around him and as they engulfed each other in grizzly bear hug. He stroked her hair as the water rustled around them both. The crickets beginning to chirp as the sunset but all he could focus on was his daughter safe in his arms.

"Dad." Hiccup cried waking up from her strange dream in an unfocused daze

Hiccup looked around. "Dad." She said looking desperately everywhere around the darkness that surrounded her for her father. Jumping forward stumbling on her tail and like a stone rock hitting her entire being remembering the new reality that was forced upon her.

"Where am I." She thought looking at the black walls around her eyes unfocused flashing back to the events that happened before she found herself in dreamland again.

She remembered being let out of her confinement before everything came back in full force.

Memories flashed before her eyes...

She remembered fighting Desmond before helping a group of teens dressed in strange clothes and armor escape torturous prison she'd been kept in for so long.

How she had caught one of the teens falling to his death...

SNAP! a sound screeched from below her as she sent another blast toward the malicious Doctor.

Looking below her she noticed one of the teens from before falling quickly to the ground as one of his rope contraption had broken off. Right then the boy who had been helping her was now struggling on a ledge about to recklessly throw himself toward where the monster of a man stood. Acting quickly she jumped behind the boy taking him into her arms a feeling her heart sink at how close the other teen was getting to the ground she dived down underneath him. Catching him mid air she took them up steadily before going back down toward where the other strange teens safely stood. As she felt the teens hand glide across her scales she rumbled in relief he was okay.

Once she was landed she glanced over on her back toward the one she had just saved. Freezing she blinked at the focused stare he was giving her before concentrating on him. That's when her heightened vision kicked in and she was able to see passed his odd mask. Blue eyes like her new ones stared straight at her they were filled with such wonder. Briefly she had a flashback to when she met Toothless and a familiar pang started to slide up her chest. Those eyes continued to stare into her soul but now the emotions behind them changed to something different almost like a reflection an understanding.

"No" She thought firmly. "I need to get out of here." Shaking her head she huffed realizing he still had not gotten off her back yet so she threw him off. The teen with the red hair snorted at this glancing at his friend with laughter in his eyes.

The other one she'd saved shook himself out of his stupor. "Superboy." He said looking up.

Realizing who he must be talking about she opened up her one side of her wings revealing the viciously struggling boy in her arms. He reminded her of Snotlout with his stubbornness. Mischief came over her as she released her hold on him and he crashed to ground.

I noticed the monster above about to make his final move before everyone else and Flew up into the air again and attacked only for the structure to finally falter and crumble.

I watched as the teens began to cover each other blinking in worry i went down toward them again and unfurled my wings blinking in my own wonder when the rubble seemed to not even put a dent in the two who were shielding the other two. Helping them i continued to put my wings up wincing a bit at the rubble that bounced off of them. After everything had cleared i looked into those eyes again. i couldn't look away they reached into my soul looking at me with that level of understanding that made me feel less lost then i had been in some time. A gaze that made me feel seen. I glanced at him making sure he had no apparent injuries before my gaze fell once was locked to his.

Light drew my attention away though following the light there stood the full moon in all its glory. It had been ages since I've seen it. I could finally get be free again.

Flying toward it without a second thought the wind feeling amazing against my wings the higher i flew the freer i felt.

Only to feel a sudden jolt as I started to free fall to the ground.

Screeching in fear I only just managed to latch my paws onto a rock as I fell through the crack below.

Looking up I was met with relieved looks from the teens. Glancing down though i noticed what had been my literal downfall my tail fin lay in tatters. I was stuck.

Anger, fear and grief rippled through me I was so close to freedom so close touching the night sky. Now here i was trapped on the rocks with no way out in sight. All the pain loss and grief rammed into me like an iceberg into a ship.

I lost it. All my emotions finally came to the surface at that moment: and i screamed. I don't know how long it continued to go on for i just remember a glimpse of those blue eyes staring at me from above. I held onto that gaze I had helped these people surely they would help me in return? I held the boy's gaze again pleading for help with my eyes. We stared like that for what felt like an eternity my screams continuing more mournfully this time as i broke my gaze with him.

A sharp pain hit my neck and my vision swam the last thing i Saw before my world disappeared was a winged woman?

"A Valkyrie." Was my last thoughts. "She must be here to take me to take me to Valhalla."

A weird sort of peace filled me at that notion. I would be home soon my family and friends awaited me.

Justice League Council room Meeting.

"I want to begin with the files for Superman's Clone." Batman began as he faced the league. "It appears he was created to Superman down it does note however that not all of his powers are yet fully developed at it will take time for them to come in."

"In the meantime." Dinah interjected looking at him pointedly. "We've determined he is stable and has no desire as of now to act on them."

"However i move that he continues to be seen by me regularly and remain at the cave."She said before looking over toward Superman with slight hope in on her face"Unless anyone here can offer up any other arrangements?"

Superman turned away at this arms crossing together in stony silence akin to that of the one they were discussing now.

Sighing in disappointment. "Well we've talked coming up with a name so far he's fine with what the others have coined him but I"ve been guiding him toward finding a more personal name." She said tapping her fingers on the table. "All in all he's adjusting as well as expected of someone in his circumstances"

Batman then brought up a holograph of a familiar black creature. "I have recently been analyzing all the files on project nightlight."He said. "It appears it was more of Desmonds personal obsession then anything to do with the light." And added."Especially when it was discovered she was immune to mind control and the cloning process appears to not have worked out."He informed.

"What is she exactly?" Diana asked curiously. "Something the light created? Or Desmond perhaps?"

"That's where things get a little interesting."Batman said. "I also found this in the wreckage."

"You mean i found it." Hal said smugly. Only to flinch back a bit at the look the Dark knight sent his way.

He put the box onto the table before lifting a very dirty looking book out of it. "It's contents are all in written in Norse but from what i have been able to decipher so far and with help of these illustrations."

He held a piece of paper up that was a picture of the black creature however this one appeared bigger and had a rougher outline.

"According to all the information I've gathered so far and as far as Desmond seems to believe she's a dragon specifically this kind." He told them.

There was some looks of disbelief around them but at this point with everything they've all been through anything was possible.

"What kind of Dragon and why was Desmond so obsessed with all of this exactly?" Flash asked.

"Other than scientific curiosity I have yet to find another reason although we all know why the light would take an interest."He said before continuing. "As for what kind it's the book calls them night furies. "

"She will get a lot bigger as from her files she is still growing." He said before adding."I've done some tests of my own and DNA wise there were no other matches whatever she is it's not a relative of any species currently still alive on this planet that we know of."

"So what do we do with her now." Wonder Woman asked.

'You can't keep her locked up in a small cell forever it's inhumane." Hawkwoman said hard stare not leaving him.

"We can't exactly just let her go free."Flash pointed out.

'Why not just buy an island and set her free there just ban anyone from entering." Aquaman suggested looking at the billionaire pointedly and glancing at Hal for backup.

"Like in Jurassic Park?" Hal blurted out.

"We might be able to keep her contained like that however that wouldn't stop many of our enemies from finding some way in. "Batman reminded them.

"That didn't end well in Jurassic Park movies either. "Hal said seeing the unamused looks he was now on the receiving end of he quickly stated. "I"ll shut up now."

"I propose we make an enclosure outside the surrounding cave entrance."Batman stated. "Green lantern can create a barrier for it."

"That way we can keep a close eye and everyone's safety is accounted for. "Dinah guessed.

"Exactly." Batman stated.

Once everyone had agreed on a coarse of action the meeting came to an end and the respective parties got to work.

Hiccup.

I don't know how long i had stared out into those black walls I was trapped in. I do remember being stabbed again with needles at certain points.

just when it seemed like all i'd be looking at was endless darkness a creak was heard and the one of the dark walls surrounding me flew open. Light poured out i closed my eyes at the glare.

Opening them i cautiously walked out of the darkness and into the blinding light. Looking all around me there was trees green as emeralds and high as the sky. The birds chirped and insects buzzed. The air was just right i breathed in the freshness relaxed my body as i continued the clearing.

Looking around I noticed two things one i was i was blocked in by stone walls that surrounded me in circle behind the trees. Second their was a stream that flowed out to those surrounding stone walls draining out form underneath it.

I walked over to the stream looking down and to my surprise and delight seeing fish swimming underneath the current.

The wind gently blew around me as I took in my new situation. Looking down at my rippling reflection i wondered if I my father was right?

I don't think I felt as lucky as I should have to live another day. I turned too look at my fin that was still in tatters.

And like i had before i'd trusted the wrong people and hadn't been careful enough to not get caught.

Watching the birds around me fly almost taunting me I hummed. "Well the best thing you can do when you make mistakes is learn from them." I thought before my eyes took a feral glint. "I won't be making that mistake again and if they think they can keep me here they have another thing coming. "

I won't get caught this time I'll be ready.

Thank you for reading!

I think I'm going to re edit the first chapter and hopefully it will actually work this time around. That being said I've also chosen Friday's as the days i will update.

I won't be updating this story though this Friday because i will updating one of my others.

I know this is a strange idea for a story however would it leave unless i wrote it out? No, no it would not!
