Prologue

"Me and my folks are moving away, Phoebe," said John.

"What?." Phoebe looked at her boyfriend in disbelief and shock. "Why?."

John and Phoebe were currently on the rooftop of their apartment in New York City, New York watching the cars go by and seeing the stars. The two were sharing a birthday party together since they were born in the same year in June. The two lovers started out as best friends in kindergarten and then confessed their love for one another in the four grade. John is a black male preteen with a low-fade haircut wearing his black shirt with the Ghostbusters logo along with a pair of blue jean shorts, and a pair of fake Air Jordan 8 Doernbecher blue shoes which got from a dealer.

Like his girlfriend Phoebe, John loves science and knows his thing. Unlike her, he has an extremely strong passion for the paranormal and anything else that is beyond understanding. But most of all he is a huge fan and highly obsessed with the Ghostbusters. Unlike her boyfriend, Phoebe is not interested in the paranormal or bothers to do any research or interest about the forgotten Ghostbusters. She is more into actual science. Unlike everyone else, Phoebe was autistic and is hard to get a read from her including her mom and brother. Fortunately, for John, her autistic-coded is very limited when it comes down to him. That is because she is indeed in love with him and never wants to let him go. But that is not going to happen.

"Well, my Dad has a promotion from his job and it required him to move to this hit town. We will finally move into our very first house," informed John, before looking at his hurt girlfriend.

Phoebe is starting crying as she did not want to lose her boyfriend who has always stood up for her when was being bullied in school. Let alone being her lab and chess partner. But most importantly he is her childhood best friend and only friend turned boyfriend.

"No." Phoebe shook her head. "Please do not go, John. We can ask your folks to stay with us and I'm sure they do not mind."

John sadly smiled. "Sorry, twinkie girl, but I do not want to be a burden. Plus, your mom is struggling as it is and three is a crowd. We can call, text, and video each other. Sure we may not be able to touch or kiss each other but I'm willing to try virtual contact. Are you game?."

Phoebe slowly nodded before approaching John and hugging him with tears flowing down her cheeks. She truly does not want him to go. If she had the money she would prevent this from happening. They pulled to look at each other and leaned to kiss on the lips. The two interracial couples kissed until they break it up to catch their breath. John played with Phoebe's hair to make her feel better about the situation, which did work when seeing a small smile blooming on her face.

"Please stay safe for me." Phoebe snuggled into John's chest. "Until you and I be together in person. I better not get a message from you saying you want to break up with me, due to finding some bitch in your new home."

John laughed at this as he kissed her forehead. "Oh, Phoebe, no girl can make me feel this way like you can. Plus, no girl isn't as smart and funny as you. Can you tell me a joke? For my birthday gift?."

Phoebe looked at John with a smile before thinking up one and saying it with no emotion. "Why did the two red blood cells break up?. Because their romance was all in vein."

John started laughing at the funny joke. "Ah, man, I'm going to miss hearing your jokes in person. You should be a comedian."

Phoebe smirked. "Not everyone has a science sense of humor like you and me, John."

"True." John lowered his laughing. "Now, you ready to come back inside and help blow out our thirteen birthday candles?."

Phoebe smiled and said yes before grabbing his hand and guiding them back inside. The two blew out their candles and ate their cake and ice cream before opening their gifts. In the next two weeks, John and his family moved out of the apartment and said their goodbyes to Phoebe and her family. Phoebe watched them drive away with the Uhaul truck behind them with sadness and depression on her face. Trevor entered her room to help comfort her but to no luck as she told him to leave her alone for a while.

"You do realize that goodbyes are not forever right?." said Trevor before leaving.

Phoebe turned her attention back to her window before looking at her window and placing her hand on it.

"I pray that you and I will one day soon be together physically, ghost head," said Phoebe, saying John's nickname that she made up.

Meanwhile, in some hit town, an old man was working on getting things ready to put his plan into motion. He made the ultimate sacrifice of taking all the equipment and upsetting his three and only best friends, and not being around for his daughter and grandkids.

"I wish I was wrong about all this. But unfortunately, I'm not." the old man said before plugging the device in.

Then he went to flipping the pages of an old book that he, his friends, and the rookie had taken from the Gray Lady at the library back in 1991 on Thanksgiving week. After witnessing what he and the guys have seen during that time, it made him dig more into a certain occult leader's work. Much less learn where he obtained the type of metal to use to bring forth the attempt of the apocalypse.

"I know that my chance of surviving after this is slim to none." the old man turned on the energy to the cords. "But as a Ghostbuster, I must finish the unfinished business that me, Ray, Peter, and Winston have started since 1984." said the old man, before taking a bite of his twinkie.
