Dimentio sat silently on the swing. Olly was not the joking type. Had he really wanted the magician to join his future kingdom? Dimentio wasn't origami and was desperately attempting to murder the king repeatedly throughout the last three months. Why did Olly care for him so much? Was it because he had no family, no home? Did Olly just pity him?
Dimentio shook off the thoughts and stood. Em, his friend, had visited him not long before Olly had talked to him again. Dimentio knew he was getting soft, and he tried whatever he could to make sure nobody saw who he truly was. After all, they only knew him to be the creator of chaos. Why would they care who he really was? What really ticked him off was that Olly knew his real name.
Didi.
Dimentio didn't want to be called that anymore since he ran from home. Well, more like he destroyed his home and ran from fear as it collapsed around him, but who cared about how accurate the story was? The name only reminded him about his mistake, and Piper.
Poor, poor, Piper.
She had allowed herself to be controlled by Black Rose. After he had made the mistake of not understanding that her feelings for him were true, she had turned to Black Rose for comfort. Black Rose told her that she could make Dimentio love her, but for the price of her mind.
Everyone Black Rose had controlled had lost their abilities. She must have let Piper keep hers so she could trap Dimentio. Unfortunately, their plan didn't work, and Piper fell victim to her own puppet strings. Just a few moments ago, Dimentio had set her soul free by destroying the wooden shell she was trapped in. Hopefully, Queen Jaydes would talk some sense into her.
Piper was only so mad that he didn't understand because he had laughed at her. He had only thought she was joking. He didn't think people would actually love him like she had. They were only ten, so Dimentio thought she had been watching too many romance dramas again.
He felt bad about that NOW though.
He pushed open the doors to Peach's castle. Empty, just like he had hoped. He made his way to the throne room. Moving silently, he peeked down a corner. There was a guard coming his way.
He looked around, then flattened himself against the wall. Being 2D was the better choice here, but the guard still may see him. He slowly slid against the wall closer to the corner.
He held his breath as the guard came closer. The guard continued walking past him. Dimentio returned to 3D and watched the guard continue down the hall. It had worked! Dimentio resumed his way to the throne room.
What was he doing, sneaking into the throne room? Easy, he was going to recover Olly's stamp for him. Olly couldn't revive his Legion of Stationery without it, and Dimentio knew where it was.
Dimentio teleported through the locked doors. When he was past the doors, he heard the lock being unlocked. He slapped himself against the wall. He spotted the door to Peach's bedroom. He walked closer to the room when the door opened. Dimentio froze.
"Rosalina should be coming back today," Peach stated.
The guard next to her nodded.
"She could do little to help because the Luma's aren't very strong, but I'm pretty sure she had a plan prepared for when she deemed it needed."
The guard nodded again.
Dimentio scooched closer to the door, limiting his own movements so he would not be seen. He stopped moving when Peach came closer.
"I wonder where Dimentio went off to. I heard that he protected Fawful. He needs to be thanked for that."
Dimentio silently gagged. Olly acknowledging his existence was bad, but getting thanked from the Queen of the Mushroom Kingdom was worse.
"And to think, he hardly knew Fawful. He still sacrificed his life to save somebody he didn't even know..."
"It seems that Dimentio got his mind in the right place," the guard said.
Dimentio risked it and slowly moved closer to the door. He didn't want to hear this sad story any longer. The sooner he could get out of here, the better.
"I haven't seen Olive in a hot minute either," Peach said. "I wonder if he's doing okay."
The two walked closer to the door, leaving Dimentio not far behind them. Dimentio took his head off the wall and mouthed "no" to himself. They were going into the very room Dimentio was trying to sneak into! After unlocking the door, the Toad held it open for the queen. Dimentio flattened himself against the wall again. Peach entered the door, the Toad following. Dimentio quickly followed as the door closed.
"I wanted to ask about something, if that's alright."
"Go on," the guard said.
Peach opened a drawer on a desk and brought out the stamp. Dimentio couldn't help but mutter a swear word under his breath. Now he had to take it from the queen!
She handed it to the guard. "Do you know what this is? I found it in my castle after the Origami Festival three years ago. It looks like it has King Olly's face on it, but I'm not sure if it is his."
The Toad examined it. "What does it do?"
"I don't know," she admitted. "I never saw this stamp before."
"This needs further examination." He placed it in his pocket. "I will take it home with me and examine it there. Thank you for telling me about this, my Queen." He bowed.
"Of course! If there's anyone in the Mushroom Kingdom who's a better detective, you would be out of a job." She gave him a curtsey.
They both left the room, Dimentio following. The Toad was walking close to the wall, so Dimentio could just reach out and grab it. He had to make sure his hand didn't brush against the Toad.
He popped out of 2D and reached for the stamp. The Toad stopped walking and Dimentio went 2D again.
"What's the matter?" Peach asked.
"It's nothing," the guard said. "I just thought I had heard something." He resumed walking, and Dimentio tried again.
He carefully pulled the stamp out of the Toad's pocket. Success! Now, it was time to leave before anybody noticed him. He teleported outside of the throne room and exited the castle.
Ever since Black Rose tore the Chaos Heart out of Dimentio, his powers were weaker than they used to be. He had many limits that didn't exist before, and now he had to get used to them. He happily walked away from the castle, humming.
"I got the staamp! I did it, hooray! Hmm, hmm, hm!" He smiled at the stamp. "Now, I need to find a way to get my powers back to normal."
