Chapter 1:
Hermione and Amelia Riddle were half sisters and were going to attend Hogwarts after the summer.
Their father, Voldemort, decided to hold a meeting to decide how they were going to ensure his daughters' safety. He realised that he couldn't risk exposing their real names because he feared the backlash from the wizarding public, not to mention what Dumbledore would do.
He felt a familiar hand on his shoulder and turned around, meeting the eyes of his right hand man Lucius Malfoy.
"I have an idea," he said, "We could enter Amelia as Amelia Lestrange since that is her mother's maiden name and it is common knowledge that she had a child. We could pretend that she is living with us and we have been taking care of her for the past 11 years."
"Yes, that would work," Voldemort nodded slowly, "But what would we do about Hermione?"
"That's going to be trickier," Lucius admitted, "I had a thought that we could arrange it so that Hermione could come in as a mudblood with her mother's maiden name. We could perform a spell on a muggle couple to make them thing that they have a child. It's not a perfect plan but it could work."
"That would be a good idea," Voldemort nodded, "But what would do about her house? Of course Amelia would be in Slytherin and no one would question it, given who her mother is but a mudblood in Slytherin? It would be preposterous! Not to mention Dumbledore would be very suspicious of her."
"Well we could ask her to make sure the hat places her in another house. Perhaps Ravenclaw? She has always been quite a bookworm," Lucius reasoned.
"I suppose that would work. Thank you for all your help Lucius," Voldemort said, giving him an approving look.
After informing his children of this, Voldemort went back to his office. When had things become so complicated? Amelia was the daughter of him and Bellatrix Lestrange who was now in Azkaban. Hermione was the daughter of him and another death eater, who had been killed by James Potter in a battle a few weeks after she was born. He had grieved immensely for her loss since she was a strong asset to the cause and he did really like her. Bellatrix had really helped him get through it and that was what led to Amelia being born. His two daughters were 8 months apart with Hermione being born in early September and Amelia being born in early May. He was crushed when Bellatrix got arrested and he vowed to seek vengeance for her. After he killed the Potters and tried to kill Harry, his spell rebounded and left him in a weakened state. The world believed him to be dead and he was content with that. For now. He and Lucius had been working on a potion that would restore him to his former state and Dumbledore would rue the day he had crossed him. For now he would focus on looking after his children and training them so that one day they would be able to take over the death eaters and rule the world.
"Wake up!" Hermione screamed as she jumped on her sister Amelia's bed.
"What time is it?" Amelia asked, rubbing her eyes groggily.
"It's 10 o'clock. The train is leaving in an hour! You need to hurry up," Hermione scolded.
It was the 1st of September, and the two girls were about to start Hogwarts. They were dying with excitement as they could not wait to learn magic.
When they went downstairs, they caught sight of the Malfoys who were going to escort them to platform 9 ¾.
"Hi Draco," they grinned.
"Hey," he smirked, "are you two ready to go? I know what my dear cousin here is like. I assume you had to drag her out of bed Mione?"
"Rude," Amelia huffed and shoved him lightly, causing him to stumble into Voldemort.
"I'm so sorry my Lord," Draco panicked, his eyes widening with fear, "Please don't crucio me."
"Relax Draco," Voldemort chuckled.
Draco calmed down slightly while Hermione and Amelia snickered at his pathetic attempt to placate their father.
"You should all go now – you don't want to miss the train," Voldemort said, "Have fun children."
Hermione and Amelia hugged their father and held onto Narcissa and Lucius who apparated to the platform.
"Remember kids if you want to cause trouble feel free but don't get caught," Lucius warned.
"I will miss you all," Narcissa smiled and enveloped them all in hugs, "Be careful and do your best in school."
"We will," they chorused.
"Now off you go," the Malfoys waved goodbye to the three children who ran excitedly onto the train.
"Bye Mione," said Draco and Amelia, "We need to find the other potential Slytherins."
"Bye guys," said Hermione sadly.
"Don't end up in Hufflepuff," snorted Amelia.
"As if," Hermione rolled her eyes, "I'll probably be in Ravenclaw anyway."
Professor McGonagall welcomed the first years with a speech and her eyes swept over the first years in front of her. Her gaze lingered on Amelia and she thought how uncanny the resemblance was between her and her mother. She also noticed Harry Potter and hoped that he would be in Gryffindor just like his parents. Although hopefully he would be more like Lily than James – studious and wouldn't cause any trouble.
"Follow me," she ordered.
The first years followed her into the great hall, gasping in awe at how beautifully it was decorated.
"Granger, Hermione"
Hermione nervously glanced at Amelia and Draco who both smiled at her encouragingly and she hopped onto the stool.
Not Slytherin? You would achieve greatness in that house… Ravenclaw perhaps? No I think…
GRYFFINDOR!
Hermione's eyes widened in shock as she joined the table.
"Lestrange, Amelia"
The hat barely touched her head before shouting SLYTHERIN!
"Malfoy, Draco"
SLYTHERIN!
Amelia high fived Draco as he sat down, giving Hermione a subtle wink.
As the three children went to sleep, they all thought the same thing: they couldn't wait for tomorrow.
