Snow In August
Part 5: The Bitch Is Back!
CHAPTER 1: CATCHING UP WITH VIOLET GRAY
A black sports car pulled up to a tall skyscraper in downtown Sparkyville. The building was the headquarters of Gray Industries. Out stepped a tall, beautiful brunette with an hourglass figure and long, flowing hair. The guys on the street immediately looked at the lady that had gotten out of that sports car. After handing her keys to the valet, she made her way into the building. Everyone snapped to attention when she made her way inside. After going through security and showing them her badge, she headed for the elevators. After hopping on one she went to the top floor. Once at the top floor, she made her way towards the main office of Grant Gray, owner of Gray Industries. The secretary was about to stop her until she realized who the lady was and sat back down. Everyone in this building treated this woman with respect, and didn't lip off to her. She opened the door to the office. Inside Grant was on the phone with some brokers. He looked up and saw the new guest in his office and went back to his brokers.
"Okay, I have to go," he said. "I just had an important visitor come into my office just now. We can discuss the details of the Cooper deal later. Okay. Goodbye." And he hung up the phone. He looked at the woman who was standing at his desk.
"Hi, daddy!" she said with a sweet voice.
"Hey, Violet baby!" said Grant. He gave his daughter a hug and kiss on the cheek. "I didn't know you had already touched down. I could have picked you up."
"Well I didn't want to disturb you at work," said Violet. "I know how busy you are."
"Well, I'm so glad you're back in town. How was Japan?"
"Oh, the people are wonderful! And the food there, to die for! The Japanese businessmen were respectful, and not the lustful sex-mongers people make them out to be in movies and TV. We were able to broker a deal to establish a company in Tokyo."
"That's great! I always wanted to go global, and this is the stepping stone to doing that. So, do you have any plans? Meet up with any of your old friends?"
"They wouldn't want to see me, daddy." Violet's mood turned sad. "Not after everything that had happened back in high school with the party. I regret everything I've done, not just that night, but even before that. But that night and how I played both Charlie and Blake, was the final nail in the coffin for everyone. I lost all my friends, even the ones who sided with me otherwise because they didn't want to be exiled like I had been."
"Well, maybe you'll get another chance to rectify those past actions. Rumor has it that Charlie is back in town after years of being away. His father is ill and he and his sister Sally flew in to be at his side, from what I heard."
"I have no chance of being back in the gang's good graces; I have even less with him. I'll just keep my distance from him if I see him."
"I don't know, baby. It may do both of you some good."
"Maybe, I'll mull it over." And Violet and Grant left the office and went to lunch to catch up some more. Violet had grown since the incident at the party and wasn't the same person she was in high school, or even when she was a little girl. And she hoped her former friends would see that.
