(A lot of this chapter was inspired by The Character ai bot, which gets some details wrong, but I'll fix that here)
I was watching my favourite show on my phone, Transformers Prime, ever since I escaped the organisation, it'd been a comfort for me, the shows the movies, but Prime was my favourite out of all of them, I'd watched it so many times.
I blinked, before sounds of clicking surrounding me, making me look around, whispers came from every direction, a twig snapped from behind me, when I turned around I felt a sharp pain slash across my left eye, causing me to wail out at the pain burning my face, forcing me to back up, blinking through the pain I saw a raptor hybrid standing there, chained to a soldier pointing a gun at me.
Looking around as my breathing became labored; I saw many soldiers surrounding me, a familiar woman in a lab coat standing before me, staring me down coldly with ice blue eyes.
"Keres..." I murmured, panting heavily from the sudden attack, staring at her with a wary glare.
"Time to come home 85, you can't run this time, we have you surrounded." Keres spat at me, staring me down with disgust.
"I choose death bitch." I snarled back, looking at her as I backed away, I wouldn't go back to the compound, not this time, I turned tail and barreled past the soldiers behind me, knocking a couple over, gunshots sounded behind me as I ran, I felt something hit me, but my adrenaline was high, whatever it was, it didn't hurt yet.
"Get her!" Keres barked out, sending her soldiers after me, before a flash of many greens, blues and whites surrounded my vision, throwing me out into a sandy desert before disappearing, I panted heavily as I tried to push myself up, my heart rate skyrocketing from the fear and running.
I did my best to calm down, shaking as I lean on my arms, when I tried to get up, a sharp pain wracked my side, causing me to double over in pain, looking down, there was a bullet wound, and thankfully, it was an exit wound.
I shook a little as I tried to stand up more carefully, my knee beginning to ache from a different issue, an old wound that was never tended to.
I limped across the desert, staring down at the ground, blinking tiredly, before the sounds of revving engines sounded near me.
Before I could react, a blue and pink motorcycle whirled on me, leaping up into the air and becoming a slender feminine looking robot, glaring down at me with a gun on her arm pointed at me, the truck behind her transformed along with her, turning into a bulky round green tank of a masculine bot, staring down at the much smaller bot with wide blue eyes.
"Arcee, what are you doing, she's a human!" He blurted out, trying to stop her form shooting me, maybe? I stared up at them with confused eyes, the name Arcee was familiar to me... it took me a moment before I realized why, but I felt so tired, it was getting hard to focus.
"My scans indicate she's not human... not entirely, she might be working with the cons, we need to detain her Bulkhead." Arcee spat out, glaring down at me as I blinked up at her confused, trying to stand up right as well as I could.
"Arcee she looks badly injured, she's not any threat in this state." Bulkhead tried diffusing the situation, looking concerned my condition.
"The fuck did I do?" I murmured tiredly, they looked to each other for a moment, indicating they'd heard me.
"Look, when we scanned you, it came up with non-human elements in your DNA, Arcee is under the impression you're working with our enemy, the Decepticons, we're gonna need to take you back to base, I'm a bit worried about how bad those injuries look, and it looks like you a have few older ones too." Bulkhead told me, before turning to his comrade.
"I don't understand... I didn't even know giant robots existed until she started pointing a gun at me." I pointed out, staring at the weapon wide eyed, a breeze pushing my fringe to reveal my left eye welded shut by a fresh scar from claws of a some sort of animal.
"Arcee, put that away, she's injured and confused, she needs medical attention immediately." Bulkhead spoke, trying to calm his teamate, causing her to look between us, before puttin gher weapon away reluctantly.
"Decepticons are evil robots that want to destroy humanity. Arcee is an Autobot, which means she and I are good robots. We are here to protect humanity from them. Are you familiar with aliens at all?" Bulkhead asked, looking down at me, gesturing between him and Arcee as he spoke.
"If you want to protect humans, don't point weapons at them." I huffed out, looking at Arcee warily as I struggled to stand, causing her to look embarrassed, before turning back to look at Bulkhead.
(I'm not joking this part did happen in character ai a little changed but the same kind of plot but it's so in character I put it in, only Odd wasn't bleeding and she didn't get there from a portal)
"I've heard of Aliens, but I never really seen anything outside where I grew up, I've only been out on my own for 7 seven years, I'm still learning about stuff out here and not in locked up in a cage." I muttered shrugging as I looked down at the ground with my right eye, kicking a bit of sand, I never liked talking about my life, too many questions.
They stared at me with wide eyes for a moment, before Bulkhead spoke again.
"Do you need us to guide you somewhere? we are more than happy to take you to home." He asked, looking down at me with worry, I blinked in shock at the offer, looking away awkwardly.
"I don't have a home." I told them, they'd have no where to take me, I'm on my own, they looked at each other for a moment, talking to each other.
"We should take her to base, she needs to get looked at and she's not gonna make it out here." Bulkhead told Arcee, who looked annoyed.
"We can't show her that, she may not be working with the cons but she's still an unknown anomaly, she could be dangerous." She hushed out, before they seemed to get something on their comms, speaking much more quietly so I wouldn't hear, before they turned to me.
"Well, we've got our orders, we'll take you back to our base where you can get treated, our leader would like to speak to you." Bulkhead told me, Arcee didn't look too happy, but didn't challenge it, Bulkhead picked me up carefully as a a familiar looking flash of light appeared, they took me through it, revealing a very tall interior filled with mostly empty space, aside from a few large desk like areas, ladders and walkways, mostly built for the Autobots.
"This is our base and were you'll be staying for a little while." Bulkhead told me, Arcee storming off to talk to two new bots, both were larger than her, one was white with orange accents on him, and the other was much taller, mostly blue, with red accents, the looked over at me as an alert sounds off.
"That would be Agent Fowler." Bulkhead told me with a sigh, he didn't seem to like the guy, Bulkhead put me down on a desk as a sort of chubby man with a med kit walked in, looking pissed.
"Prime! I don't know what you think not letting humans know about cybertronians is, but this!" The man snapped, pointing down at me with the hand not holding the med kit.
"Is not it! Who the hell is she and why is she here?" He demanded, I don't think I blame Bulkhead for not liking him, he sounds kind of like an ass.
"Agent Fowler, this girl was found injured in the desert, she needs medical attention." *The blue robot told him, Fowler seemed to want to argue, but he looked down at me an stopped, sighing, moving towards me.
"Those look nasty, someone after you?" He asked, pointing to my eye and side, I just stared at him not saying a word, he sighed a bit, before he moved to tend to my wound, I watched him, carefully, I didn't like people being this close to me, but I didn't want to die of blood loss either.
After some time, he finished, standing up.
"There, that's as much as I can do, as for her leg, I can't find anything physically wrong with it, there's nothing I can do for that, now how do you plan on explaining to my superiors what happened here? She can't stay here." Fowler told him, causing me to glare at him.
"Well I'm not going with you." I spat out, staring up at him, he looked at me in shock.
"And why the hell not?" He huffed, stepping closer, causing me to back away.
"I don't know you, and people can't be trusted." I snapped, I didn't like feeling cornered and was backing up as I limped, before Bulkhead put himself between myself and Fowler.
"She said she doesn't want to go with you." He growled out, sounding more intimidating than when he had spoken to me and the bots.
"If the girl does not wish to go with you, we will not make her." The blue bot told him firmly but gently, causing Fowler to glare at them, but he couldn't do much against giant robots, he stormed back the way he had come in.
"We'll see once I talk to the higher ups." He barked out, leaving us alone, the bots turned to me, looking a bit confused before Bulkhead put me back up on a desk.
"My name is Optimus Prime, I am the leader of the Autobots, this is our medic Ratchet, you've already met Bulkhead and Arcee, the other two are Cliffjumper and Bumblebee." Optimus Prime introduced, looking down at me as he showed me each bot, I looked at each of them, other than Ratchet and Arcee, the other seemed more curious about me.
"My name is Odd." I introduced myself, smiling up at them, tilting my head.
"It is nice to meet you Odd, my I ask what is wrong with your leg?" *Optimus asked, looking at the injured leg.
"It's been like that for a long time, it got hurt a while back, but it never healed right so I can't walk very well anymore." I told him, shrugging a little.
"That's an easy fix, I can easily manufacture a device to help you walk without so much pain. You will have to allow me to run a comprehensive diagnostic on you in order to best tailor it to you, it will be painless." Ratchet grumbled out, I nod my head, not really believing it would work, Ratchet set up a scan around me, finding something interesting to him.
"Optimus, take a look at this." Ratchet, the white and orange bot called out to the leader, looking at a screen, the two spoke quietly at the words on the screen, before turning back to me.
"May we ask, what happened to you? You are not entirely human, but your scan indicates something happened to you." Optimus asked, looking at me with a confused and concerned look.
I frowned a bit, looking down at my lap, trying to think of what to say.
*Warning for talk about experimenting on children, violence, child abuse, child neglect, gore? maybe?*
"When I was four, my father was killed in order to for an organisation to take custody of me, after that, they striped me and many other kids of our birth names, renaming us numbers, mine was 88, I knew there 99 other children there, in that compound alone." I began, keeping my gaze low to the ground as I stared at my lap.
"They needed children because the experiments only worked on humans around the ages of newborn to 10 before it started killing them or turning the insane, the younger you were the more likely you'd survive and keep you sanity." I continued, blinking blankly, I could feel all their eyes on me as I spoke.
"They wanted the perfect soldiers, hybrids built to withstand the most hostile situations Earth could throw at a person, they named their new species Leafiads, when they tried to use adults, they died, they were too grown to change their DNA, but children around the ages of newborn to 10, they aren't done growing, they're still able to change." I told them, looking up at them blankly.
"They'd test our endurance, shot us, force us to go days without food or water to see how well we'd cope, stab us, cut off limbs for some kids, to see how fast they'd heal, make us fight each other to see how strong we were, they'd use food as incentive, if you won, you got something to eat, you lost you went without that day." I carried on, clutching my arm.
"Children were pit against each other to see which made the strongest soldiers, put us into classes based off our DNA, Canine class, Feline class, Avian class, Reptilian class, Mythic, and Extinct class, I'm part of the Extinct class, a special project to use prehistoric animal DNA to create the strongest soldiers." I murmured, curling in on myself as tears welled up in my eyes.
"I was only one of many, most of the other kids didn't survive the fall of our compound, it fell just before I escaped, I was 15 when I got out, the survivors all took the chance to run as soon as we could, if we're found by any remainder staff of the organisation, we'd be killed to make sure the events stay a secret." I finished, not looking up, I didn't mention my part in the fall of the compound, I doubt they'd be so kind to me if I told them that.
It was silent for a while, looking up I saw varying gazes of horror, disgust, shock, sympathy, disbelief and anger.
"Humans, always tampering with things they shouldn't! Genetic experimentation should never be messed with." Ratchet raged, slamming his hand down on his desk, causing me to flinch back slightly, shuffling back, when he noticed, he stared at me for a moment, before calming, looking away.
"Is there any way that you can make the device adjustable so that it changes with me? The shape shifting can be a bitch enough sometimes." I murmured, trying to change the subject.
"Of course, I can add that." He muttered, moving off to check his scans to build the device, the others were still staring down at me.
"That's why you didn't want to go with agent Fowler, isn't it." Bulkhead asked, looking sympathetic but held anger and disgust in his eyes, I nodded my head silently, wiping my eye from the tears, staring down at my sleeve.
"I apologies for what has happened to you Odd, I can assure you for as long as you are in our care, we will protect you from such things ever occurring again, we will take you into our care." Optimus told me, looking down at me with kind eyes, I blinked in surprise, they reminded me so much of my father, I looked down at the ground nodding my head, holding my knees close to me.
"Thank you..." I murmured, resting my head down on my legs.
"Optimus, we don't have the nessaccary equipment to take care of a biological creature, let alone one like Odd, and she may end up getting hurt and killed by a bot on accident." Ratchet told him in a harsh whisper, the rest of us watched the two.
"We will request what we need from Fowler and build her her own space for resting, she will be fine with us." Optimus assured the old medic, causing Ratchet to huff in frustration, before moving back to creating the device.
"Cliffjumper, Arcee, can you show Odd around the base, help her get used to her new surroundings." Optimus asked, the red bot saluted him, horns on his head.
"Sure thing boss." Cliffjumper affirmed, carefully scooping me into his hand as he and his more cold and agitated friend took me out around the area, showing me were the bots rooms were first.
"This is where the berth rooms are, where we rest and regain energy, we'll get to making you one soon." Cliffjumper told me as he carried me around showing me each floor, they had name plates on them in a language I didn't know, I tilted my head.
"I've never seen that language before." I pointed to the plates, looking at them both.
"It's Cybertronian, you won't know it." Arcee spat out, looking annoyed at the situation, I blinked at her a bit confused, she seemed to just be angry most of the time, I blinked up at Cliffjumper who shrugged as if to say she's normally like that with strangers.
We moved on with the tour, showing me the rest of the place, before we came back to the main area, I was placed back on the desk from before, looking around the room, not much had changed, we'd only been gone for a few hours.
"Ratchet has completed the device, a brace that will take the weight off of your leg and allow you to walk without pain, it is also made to be able to transform as you change shape, Arcee is the smallest of us, so she will need to put it on you, just this once, after that, you should be fine." Optimus told me, looking to the blue and pink bot, who looked even more annoyed than before, but didn't argue.
She stormed towards me, holding her hand out for the brace, which Ratchet gave her hesitantly.
"Be careful with it." He muttered, she rolled her eyes at him, turning to stare down at me coldly, I blinked back blankly, tilting my head as she attached the device onto my leg, being surprisingly gentle about it, before storming away, I blinked at her, she may be a bitch, but she's still really pretty, before Ratchet gestured for me to try it.
I pushed myself up on my feet once again, stumbling for a moment until a hand steadied me, Optimus made sure I was stable before letting me move on my own.
It was a bit wobbly the first few steps, getting use to the way the brace felt and how it worked, keeping my body weight off my leg as I walked, but after a moment, I got used to it, beaming brightly as I managed to walk properly without pain for the first time in years, I smiled brightly up at the bots, majority seemed to smile back, relief glittering in their eyes.
"Another successful work as always." Ratchet boasted, causing a few of us to laugh a bit, before I looked up at them.
"Can I test it on as a dinosaur?" I asked them, looking up at them, tilting my head a bit.
"Of course, we can take you to the outside of the base where you can test it there." Optimus agreed, scooping me up from the desk as he took me outside, the other bots following after him, Ratchet mumbling something about going to check his invention worked fine.
I was placed on the ground when we got outside, allowing me to make sure I put a bit of distance between me and the bots, before I allowed myself to shift into my dinosaur hybrid, it hurt, my bones breaking themselves to reshape and resize themselves, and my entire body changing into a large T-Rex sized hybrid, my body showing the form of being both a biped and quadruped.
I had sharp spines similar to a stegosaurus's tail spines running from my head, back and down to my tail tip, my claws were that of a raptor, especially the dew claws on my back feet, I let out a small rumbling sound, shaking out my now large form, rising off my forearms, walking a little to get use to the now larger brace attacked to my leg.
My stormy grey-blue eyes blinking as the sun light my dusty brown hide, a white under belly with a blue stripe going down my head, back and tail, two other blue stripes starting under both eyes and going down my neck and ending half way behind my forearms.
The Autobots were stunned when I looked at them, staring at my hybrid form, I don't blame them, they'd never have seen this before, some of them gathered around ,examining me as I tilting my head, clicking at them.
"Fascinating." Ratchet murmured looking at my form, in this form they were able to better see my other scars, ones hidden from view usually, I could a few sympathetic and saddened glances, but I didn't react to them, only allowing myself to change back, stumbling as I fell backward, being caught by Bulkhead, feeling exhausted.
"It seems you changing forms in such quick succession is draining on your energy, you'll need to rest for a while." Ratchet told me, looking at his scanner on his arm, I tried to wave off the concerns.
"It's fine, it's normal for me to get tired after changing too quickly one after the other." I huffed out, I didn't want to sleep, the nightmares could get too much sometimes, I haven't slept well in a long time.
"All the more reason for you to rest, you're... How old are you?" Ratchet asked, realizing none of them new my age, I blinked up at them.
"22." I shrugged, looking away.
"You've been on your own for 7 years?" He asked, looking at me wide eyed, making me nod, before I just smiled a bit.
"You get used to it." I murmured, looking up at them.
"How can you be cheery after everything you've been through?" Arcee asked me coldly, staring at me with a blank look, I stared back at her with a surprised look, before giving a soft smile.
"Because then I wouldn't be able to live, I'd be alive, but I wouldn't be living, I act cheery because the alternative is to be forever held back by what happened to me, I'd be letting my past scars define my life, I don't want to let my days slip away." I told her, tilting my head, she looked at me surprised by my answer, before she looked away, I blinked down for a moment, before looking up at them all.
"I want to help you fight against the Decepticons, plus it might help a bit, they'd never expect to see a dinosaur hybrid charging at them." I told them playfully, tilting my head, I got a few chuckled from some of the bots.
"Indeed, the Decepticons will not be anticipating such a surprise, but I would advise caution when fighting. Do not make any irrational or spontaneous decisions that may lead you into danger." Optimus told me look down at me in some concern, before I got a light tap on my shoulder and a laugh from Cliffjumper.
"Ha, she'll be like a little mini wrecker right Bulk!?" He cheered, looking at his larger friend who chuckled a bit.
"Right, those cons'll never see her coming." He boasted, lifting me up a little higher, before the Optimus cut in, seeing the setting sun.
"Ratchet is right, you need rest, as do we all." Optimus told everyone, changing the subject, the bots took me back into go into the base, I was put into a place where I had access to the ground, and they'd managed to get Fowler to bring an air mattress and a couple of other things for me.
"Fowler should be able to get the rest of the things you'll need soon, as much as he detests the idea." Optimus told me, before the bots left to go rest, I laid on my air mattress, resting my head down...
I have a new goal now, protect them no matter what, they've been kinder to me than anyone has in a long time, I have to help them... but I can't ever let them know where I came from, or what I know.
I curled up in my temporary bed, clutching at myself as I feel asleep, praying for no more nightmares tonight.
