A/N: Hey guys! Welcome to this story! It's my first story that I'll actively dedicate myself to. Hope you'll enjoy it! It's just a bunch of ideas meshed into one in this PJO fanfic, so I apologize for it being cringe and/or rushed. This takes place in an AU between the events of The Last Olympian and the Lost Hero. So all the stuff that happened previously is canon and still matters!
It's probably going to be cringey, as it is one of my first ever stories on this website.
Disclaimer: I don't own the right to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, only my OC, sadly enough. I'd be very rich tho.
Chapter 2: Whispers of the Underworld
Sebastian marveled at the modern state of the world as he stepped out of the Lotus Hotel and Casino. The last time he had been in the mortal realm was in the 1940s, and everything seemed so different now. The bustling streets and towering skyscrapers left him in awe. He knew he had a lot to catch up on.
He hailed a passing taxi, excitement coursing through his veins. The taxi driver glanced at him curiously, taking note of his old-fashioned attire.
"Where to, buddy?" the taxi driver asked, his eyes lingering on Sebastian's unusual appearance.
Sebastian smiled, attempting to blend in with the modern world. "I need a ride to New York City, please."
The taxi driver raised an eyebrow. "New York City? That's quite a distance. You sure you want to go there?"
Sebastian nodded confidently, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a fancy debit card. "Money is not an issue," he said, flashing an unlimited credit card he had liberated from the casino.
The taxi driver's eyes widened in surprise, but before he could say anything, Sebastian activated his powers of manipulation over the Mist, a supernatural force that distorted a mortal's perception of reality.
As the Mist clouded the taxi driver's mind, Sebastian watched as the man's expression shifted from shock to acceptance. "Sure thing, buddy. New York City it is," the taxi driver replied, his voice now void of any suspicion.
Sebastian settled into the backseat of the taxi, a mischievous glint in his eyes. He chuckled to himself, realizing the extent of his newfound powers. "I've never been on a plane or a boat," he muttered under his breath, a playful smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Zeus would smite me out of the sky, and Poseidon might drown me."
As the taxi made its way through the streets, Sebastian marveled at the sights and sounds of the modern world. He soaked in the bustling activities, the honking cars, and the people rushing by. It was a stark contrast to the quiet simplicity of his childhood, although compared to mortals, his childhood wasn't simple at all.
Arriving in Manhattan, Sebastian thanked the taxi driver, who was still in a dazed state. Before parting ways, he couldn't help but ask, "By the way, what year is it?"
The taxi driver blinked, collecting his thoughts. "October 14, 2007," he replied, his voice tinged with confusion.
Sebastian smirked in satisfaction. He had leaped forward several decades, and the world had changed dramatically since he last walked its streets.
With newfound confidence, Sebastian immersed himself in the bustling city. He purchased fashionable clothes, accessories, and shoes, eager to fit into the modern era. As he strolled through the streets of Manhattan, he couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration. This was a new chapter of his life—one where he could explore the wonders of the world and uncover his true potential.
Time flew by, and a month had passed since Sebastian's escape from the Lotus Hotel and Casino.
Until...
November 2007
"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" This exclamation was made by a demigod. He was fighting a fierce hellhound who seemed to crave for a menu à la demigod. The fight was going on for a while now. He was attacking it using his sword named Oblivion. The slashes were well-timed and quick, killing the monster. "Hmph, pathetic hellhound", he said disdainfully as he walked away.
"I've noticed that there are more monsters around recently."
"Oh hell nah." The Minotaur showed up. He was a hulking figure who towered over his 5'4" height with his seven feet, vein-webbed skin, thick, brown fur on the upper half of his body with a huge head supported bu his muscled and furry neck. His snout was immense with a brass ring pierced through it. Pasiphaë's son has black, gleaming, cruel eyes that brimmed with hunger.
"Guess I'll have to face you at this time of the year", the demigod said with a wicked grin on his face.
The Minotaur lowered his head, showing his razor-sharp black and white horns, and charged head-on at his opponent.
It was coming closer and closer and closer until he jumped over him with great agility and athleticism.
"Hahahaha, c'mon now, you've got to try harder", he taunted. Then, while that damned Minotaur was caught off guard, he relentlessly hacked, slashed and stabbed the thing. The demigod continued to ruthlessly rip apart the monster with his sword skills and cut off both of his horns.
After a final stab the Minotaur finally dissolved into golden dust and dropped the horns behind.
"Well, I at least did something productive", he said to himself.
Short Timeskip
"Phew, I could've just died when I faced the Minotaur, but luckily I didn't."
Said demigod, who's name is Sebastian Isibor, felt relieved.
"Of course, I have to head out goddammit." "Into the open."
He was stumbling around and didn't know where the heck he was in the US. Sebastian ate the remaining food and ambrosia and drank the remaining nectar. He also sacrificed a large portion to the gods, mainly his father Hades and strangely enough, for Hecate as well. Afterwards he prayed that he'll end up in somewhere safe. After all he was smart enough to snatch some unlimited money cards from the Lotus Hotel and Casino as well as a big backpack.
He eventually found himself in a dense forest in Nebraska, engaged in a fierce battle with a fearsome hellhound. His irritation was evident as he fought, his mind filled with thoughts of the various errands Hades and Hecate had sent him on throughout the country. Oklahoma, Ohio, West Virginia—the list seemed endless.
With his inherited demigod powers, Sebastian manipulated the shadows around him. He impaled the hellhound, ripping its bones from its body, causing the creature to crumble into golden dust. As the battle came to an end, Sebastian couldn't help but smirk.
"Superman" by Eminem played on his portable music player, filling the air with its energetic beats. He hummed along, enjoying the modern music far more than the melodies of the 1940s. The music seemed to fuel his strength and drive, inspiring him to continue his mission with renewed vigor.
With the forest behind him, Sebastian made his way towards the West Coast, battling monsters like dracaenae, empousai, and cyclopes along the way. He relished in the thrill of combat, honing his skills and embracing the darkness within him.
Eventually, he arrived in Los Angeles, a city tinged with a deathly aura. A sinister energy pulsed beneath the surface, hinting at the presence of the Underworld. Sebastian couldn't help but grin in anticipation.
He had heard rumors that the entrance to the Underworld was located beneath DOA Recording Studios. The music industry and the realm of the dead intertwined, drawing him closer to his destiny. Sebastian steeled himself for what lay ahead, his determination unyielding.
As he approached the recording studio, he sensed a powerful aura, a mixture of life and death that sent a shiver down his spine. Sebastian paused for a moment, taking in the gravity of the situation. He had trained for this moment, prepared himself for the battles and challenges that awaited him.
With a deep breath, he stepped through the doors of DOA Recording Studios, his senses heightened. The atmosphere was charged with an otherworldly energy, as if the music itself danced with the spirits of the dead.
Navigating the labyrinthine corridors, Sebastian encountered strange sights and sounds. He passed by musicians tuning their instruments, their melodies carrying a haunting quality. Strange shadows flickered across the walls, whispering secrets only he could hear.
Following his instincts, Sebastian descended deeper into the depths of the studio. The air grew heavy, tinged with a sense of foreboding. Finally, he arrived at a heavy metal door adorned with mystical symbols. The door seemed to vibrate with power, emanating an otherworldly aura.
With a steady hand, Sebastian pushed open the door, revealing a hidden staircase leading downwards. Each step he descended felt like a descent into the very heart of the Underworld itself.
As he reached the bottom of the staircase, a dimly lit chamber came into view. The room was filled with ancient relics, arcane symbols etched into the walls. At the center of the chamber stood a platform, emanating an eerie glow.
Sebastian's heart raced as he stepped onto the platform, the weight of his heritage settling upon him. In the depths of his soul, he could feel the presence of his divine father, Hades, guiding him towards his destiny.
A surge of power coursed through Sebastian's veins as the platform descended into the abyss. Darkness enveloped him, whispers of the dead filling his ears. He had entered the realm of the Underworld, a place where mortal and divine met, where destiny and challenge intertwined.
With a mix of trepidation and determination, he braced himself for what was eventually to come. "This is where the real journey begins," Sebastian whispered to himself, his voice echoing in the abyss. He couldn't help but feel a thrill of excitement at the thought of what awaited him in the depths of the Underworld.
As the platform reached the bottom, Sebastian stepped off and found himself in a vast chamber, illuminated by a dim, ethereal glow. Shadows danced on the walls, and a chill settled in the air. He could sense the presence of powerful beings lurking nearby.
Before him stood three figures—Hades, Persephone, and Hecate, their expressions unreadable. Sebastian's heart skipped a beat as he took in the sight of his divine parent and the goddess who had guided him thus far.
Hades, the lord of the Underworld, spoke with a deep resonance. "Welcome, Sebastian Isibor. You have ventured far and faced many challenges to reach this point. Now, it is time to fulfill your destiny."
Sebastian nodded, his eyes fixed on his father. "I am ready, Lord Hades. I will embrace the darkness within me and navigate the trials that lie ahead."
Persephone stepped forward, her voice gentle yet tinged with annoyance at seeing her husband's illegitimate child. "Sebastian, your journey will be filled with peril, but it is through darkness that one can discover their true strength. Do not falter in the face of adversity."
Hecate, her eyes shimmering with wisdom, added, "You possess the power to commune with spirits, to harness the forces of necromancy. But remember, Sebastian, balance is key. Let compassion guide your actions, even as you delve into the depths of the Underworld."
Sebastian absorbed their words, feeling the weight of their expectations upon him. He knew that the path he had chosen would not be easy, but he was determined to prove himself.
"I will not fail you, Mother," Sebastian said to himself, his voice filled with conviction. "I will embrace my powers and honor the legacy of the Underworld. I will seek the hidden truths and forge my own path, all while maintaining the balance of light and dark."
A sense of pride filled Hades' eyes as he looked upon his son. "You have grown into a formidable demigod, Sebastian. Your journey will be filled with both victories and sacrifices, but know that we will be watching over you, guiding you from the shadows."
With those words, Hades extended his hand, and a shimmering obsidian sword materialized. Sebastian reached out, grasping the hilt of the weapon, feeling its power resonate through him.
"This sword, crafted from the depths of the Underworld, shall aid you in your battles," Hades declared. "May it be a symbol of your strength and determination."
Sebastian held the sword aloft, a surge of energy coursing through him. He could feel the weight of his divine bloodline and the weight of the tasks that lay ahead. But he was ready. Ready to face the challenges, to uncover the secrets, and to fulfill his destiny as a child of Hades.
As he prepared to embark on his journey through the Underworld, Sebastian glanced back at Hades, Persephone, and Hecate. "I will make you proud," he vowed, his voice filled with determination.
With one final nod from his parents, Sebastian stepped forward, into the depths of the Underworld. The whispers of the dead surrounded him, guiding his every step. He knew that this journey would test him in ways he could never imagine, but he was prepared to face it head-on.
The shadows embraced him, and he disappeared into the darkness, ready to uncover the dark secrets that awaited him in the heart of the Underworld.
