Chapter 3: Labyrinths and Dangers
Sebastian Isibor stood in the shadows, hidden from the world as the events of the supernatural world of gods and demigods unfolded. From his vantage point, he silently observed and manipulated the unfolding events to serve his own agenda. As the war between the Olympians and the Titans loomed, Sebastian found himself drawn into the beginning stages of the Second Titan War.
Rumors and whispers reached his ears, carrying news of the rise of Kronos and the challenges faced by Percy Jackson and his friends. However, Sebastian had his own battles to fight. A looming threat from the Underworld commanded his attention—a powerful Titan named Menoetius. Though his focus was divided, Sebastian's excitement grew at the prospect of facing such a formidable opponent.
Eager to learn more about Menoetius, Sebastian delved deep into mythology, scouring ancient texts and seeking out obscure legends. He spent countless hours poring over dusty ass tomes and deciphering cryptic passages. Each word he read fueled his anticipation, and he grew stronger during his months away, honing his skills with his sword and bident. "So apparently this Menoetius titan, whatever, is a son of Iapetus, huh?" "Quite interesting", he mused loudly.
Sebastian's Stygian Iron sword, Executioner, became an extension of himself. Its black blade gleamed with a deadly sheen, its weight familiar and comforting in his hands. With every swing and parry, he felt his confidence soar. The bident, Hell Reaper, granted him a conduit to his power in order to summon the spirits of the dead, allowing him to summon ghosts and skeletons at will. He practiced their summoning and control, learning to harness their ethereal powers to aid him in battle.
But it wasn't just combat skills that Sebastian sought to master. He delved deeper into his heritage, exploring the dark powers bestowed upon him as a child of Hades. The earth became his ally as he learned to manipulate its very foundation. He could cause the ground to tremble beneath his enemies, opening fissures to swallow them whole or shaping the terrain to his advantage.
During his exploration of the Underworld, Sebastian stumbled upon a hidden chamber, filled with artifacts of immense power. It was there that he found a set of ancient scrolls, containing forbidden knowledge about the Titans and their weaknesses. As he studied the scrolls, a surge of excitement coursed through him. He had stumbled upon valuable information that could aid him in his upcoming battle against Menoetius.
In the midst of his training and preparations, Sebastian discovered a new ability that sent ripples of excitement through his veins. He learned to shadow travel, a skill typically associated with the children of Hades. With a mere thought, he could transport himself from one location to another, instantly traversing vast distances. At times, he found himself inadvertently appearing in Nigeria, the land of his mother's heritage. Sebastian embraced these unexpected trips, relishing in the chance to perfect the art of cooking traditional Nigerian dishes.
But as the days passed, Sebastian couldn't ignore the call to action any longer. The looming presence of Menoetius in the shadows of the Underworld reminded him of the task at hand. He could no longer procrastinate or lose himself in his newfound powers. The time for battle had arrived. "Hmph, so I've got to fight again or what", he asked himself.
With his Stygian Iron weapons in hand and a heart filled with anticipation, Sebastian stepped out of the shadows and into the darkness of the Labyrinth. He had discovered an entrance by himself, hidden away from prying eyes. The twisting passages and shifting walls called to him, whispering promises of secrets and challenges that lay ahead. With each step, he could feel the earth itself responding to his presence, as if welcoming him back to its embrace.
His path led him to a hidden entrance, a gateway into the twisting maze. He slipped inside, his senses on high alert. The echoes of his footsteps reverberated through the corridors, bouncing off the moss-covered walls. Sebastian's black eyes darted back and forth, searching for any signs of danger.
As he ventured deeper into the labyrinthine maze, his steps confident and sure, Sebastian's mind wandered to the battles fought by Percy Jackson and his companions. He wondered if their paths would ever cross, if their destinies were intertwined in ways yet unknown. The thought of meeting the famed demigod intrigued him, but for now, his focus remained on his own path, his own battles.
But amidst his pursuit of his goals, another presence made itself known. A dark figure emerged from the shadows, his eyes reflecting the eternal night of the Underworld. Sebastian's heart skipped a beat as he recognized the newcomer, Nico di Angelo, the other child of Hades.
Nico regarded Sebastian with a mix of curiosity and wariness. "Who are you?" he asked, his voice filled with a haunting, otherworldly quality. Nico, a ten-year-old but technically someone far older, marveled at Sebastian's appearance. He observed him silently, taking in the young boy with long eyelashes, chocolate skin, and high cheekbones. Sebastian's black eyes held a cold intensity, accentuated by a faint scar at the corner of his left lip. (Kinda like Toji's but on the other side, iykyk) Nico couldn't help but notice the permanent smirk etched upon his face, a hint of mischief and confidence.
"This dude looks like trouble," Nico mused to himself. "But there's something intriguing about him."
Sebastian's curly black hair seemed to be quite short while in truth would be longer, his attire reflecting his casual yet enigmatic demeanor. He wore a white skull shirt, faded jeans, and a pair of high-quality Nike shoes that had seen their fair share of adventures. Fingerless gloves adorned his hands, providing both protection and a touch of style. A necklace, with a golden locket containing a photograph of him and his mother, rested against his chest, alongside a small, intricately carved obsidian pendant.
Sebastian's smirk widened, and he leaned casually against a nearby pillar. "Names Sebastian Isibor," he replied, his voice smooth and self-assured. "Child of Hades, just like you." Sebastian's eyes narrowed, assessing the newcomer. Nico's pale complexion contrasted starkly with his own rich chocolate skin, and his eyes, though cold and guarded, held a glimmer of curiosity. They were like two sides of the same coin, bound together by the blood that flowed through their veins.
Nico's eyebrows arched in surprise, his gaze narrowing suspiciously. "I've never seen you before, not at Camp Half-Blood and not anywhere else," he remarked, his tone tinged with skepticism.
Sebastian shrugged nonchalantly. "I prefer to operate on my own. The only person you can trust is yourself, after all."
Nico's eyes remained impassive but there was a glimmer of acknowledgement in there. "Interesting I suppose. It seems like we could use another ally in the coming battles."
Sebastian's eyes gleamed with intrigue. "Oh, I have my own battles to fight. But I suppose we could help each other out along the way."
Sebastian suddenly perked up. "Would you mind a fight? I've always been itching to fight with another child of Hades, just to see what it's like." "You're on then, I'd like to see my progress for myself", Nico replied.
The two half-brothers circled around eachother like snakes waiting to strike their prey, each not budging until the other makes a move. Until their weapons suddenly clashed, the mettalic sound ringing through the labyrinthine corridors. The air crackled with energy as Sebastian and Nico fought, their movements a blur of steel and shadows. Sebastian's sword slashed through the air with precision, while Nico utilized his powers over the dead to summon spectral warriors to his aid.
Sebastian often switched between his sword and bident, using his sword Executioner to slice up the spectral warriors who began ganging him up while also utilizing his bident to deal hard-hitting blows with the blunt side to Nico. The fight was intense, each demigod pushing the other to their limits. Sebastian's muscles strained as he parried Nico's attacks, his bident whirling in intricate patterns. Sparks flew as their weapons clashed, a testament to their skill and determination.
"You're good," Sebastian grunted between parries, an acknowledgement of his opponent's skills. "But not good enough", he said confidently, a wide grin plastered on his face.
Nico replied with a focused gaze, his eyes flashing with determination. "We'll see about that." They continued their fight, with the contestants not willing to give in to their opponent. They circled each other, their breaths coming in ragged gasps. Sebastian's heart pounded in his chest, a rush of adrenaline fueling his movements. He pressed forward, launching a series of precise strikes, aiming for Nico's defenses.
Nico, in a surprising fashion, used the shadows to surround him and trap him. "Huh, you really think that I'd fall for that, midget?" Sebastian proceeded to push the shadows away from him. Nico, who saw that, tried to gain the upper hand by summoning Skeleton Warriors to back him into a corner. His opponent however, predicted that he would do that and unleashed a blast of dark energy, completely obliterating the Skeleton Warriors and pushing Nico back.
He began to weave between the attacks of Nico, using complicated acrobatic maneuvers like backflips, twists, screws and even a somersault. As the battle raged on, the lines between offense and defense blurred, each demigod adapting to the other's style.
But in the end, it was Sebastian who gained the upper hand. With a swift movement, he disarmed Nico, his bident pressing against his opponent's throat. The tension hung heavy in the air as they locked eyes, a mixture of respect and curiosity passing between them.
Sebastian lowered his weapon, his smirk returning. "Not bad, di Angelo. Not bad at all." Nico's face had to break into a smile, a mix of relief and surprise. "You're pretty good yourself. We should team up more often." Sebastian nodded, a newfound bond forming between them. "I couldn't agree more. Together, we might just become unstoppable."
And so, a tentative alliance was forged in the depths of the Labyrinth. As Sebastian and Nico ventured deeper into the twisting corridors, they found themselves facing countless trials and dangers. Together, they honed their skills and complemented each other's abilities, their camaraderie growing with every passing challenge.
As the echoes of their battle faded, Sebastian's thoughts turned once again to his impending confrontation with Menoetius. But for now, he relished in the camaraderie he had found with Nico, and the promise of what the future might bring.
