Chapter 2

Do I Have Your Consent?

"I should probably go. It's almost 2:30 and you need some sleep." Ladybug stated.

She was getting ready to make a leap when Chloe's voice caught her ear.

"Tell me, if he ever harasses you again, okay? I've had my share of them, so I'll know what to do." Chloe winked.

"Will do." Marinette stated, and leaped away.

She ran across the rooftops, loving the gentle breeze hitting her face. "No! Please stop! I beg of you!" someone shouted. The voice sounded like it came from a female. Marinette quickly stopped and listened; it seemed to be coming from an adjacent alleyway.

She quickly started running towards the sound and quickly took action.

"Hey! Get off of her!" she shouted, wrapping her yo-yo around the man's wrist. "Let go of me!" he growled.

She quickly ran toward the woman who was leaning against a dumpster. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?" she asked, checking for any injuries. The woman was weeping. "Do you have a phone on you?" Ladybug asked. The woman nodded and pointed to an object on the floor.

"Was it consensual?" The spotted hero questioned.

"Yes!"

"N-no!"

"I was asking the girl!" Ladybug said, hitting the man on the head.

I've alerted the authorities. They'll be here soon, miss.

The woman nodded and kept thanking Ladybug for her assistants.

10 minutes later, the cops arrived and so did the paramedics. "Ladybug." A cop stated, walking towards her. "Officer," LB said, handing the man to him. "Ladybug, I'll have to-" "Do you want my statement?"

"Sorry. I tend to do that a lot."

"Anyway, do you mind explaining what happened?"

After giving her statement, Ladybug left.

3:35:52 a.m

"Spots off."

Marinette felt like crying. That was her first time handling a situation like that. "Marinette?" Tikki asked. "I- what if I wasn't there Tikki? Would that girl be okay??"

"The good thing that happened," Tikki said, flying to her owner's cheek and hugging it. "Is that you were there at the exact place and at the right time." Tikki stated, flying to her owner's cheek and hugging it. "Do you think I'll have to go to court?" Mari asked. "I don't know. Maybe. You can worry about that when they email you. Right now, you need to get some sleep." Tikki replied.

"Good night, Tikki."

"Good night, Marinette."

Another great save by Ladybug. Only it wasn't an akuma she stopped, but a rapist. That's right our favorite polka-dotted hero saved a young girl's life by stopping the man that was attempting to rape her. Officers say that they got dispatched to rape in progress this morning around 2:45.

Turns out that the man they captured was the one behind almost 10 rape cases that were left unsolved these past few months. Now, we can take a breath knowing that the man is now in police custody and off the streets.

Ladybug, Paris thanks you for your service.

"Crap, crap, crap!!" Marinette thought, as she was running towards her school. "Hold the door!!" She yelled. "Be on time kid!" The man yelled, waving a fist at her as she ran past him.

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng ?"

"Here!" Marinette said, as she entered the classroom.

"Another tardy this week and it's detention, Marinette." Ms. Bustier stated.

"Yes ma'am."

She quickly took a seat next to Alya as the others in the class snickered.

"I'm starting to wonder what you do at night, Marinette. It's like your living a double life." Ms. Bustier stated.

"That would be crazy." Marinette replied nervously.

"Anyway, before we start with class Ms. Bustier, can we talk about how Ladybug saved that girl from being assaulted?" Alya asked.

"Yes!! My friend that lives close to that alley said, that he saw her there talking to the officer and comforting the girl." Alix stated. "Why was she out so late though? There wasn't an akuma attack around that time." Kim asked.

"Maybe she just needed some air and time away from that alley cat." Chloe muttered. Marinette stiffed. "Really Chloé? Why would Ladybug want to be away from Cat Noir?" Alya asked.

"I don't know. Maybe because he's annoying and a terrible flirt. God, I'd be embarrassed if I had to put up with him." Chloé said.

"You really don't mean that do you, Chloe?" Adrien asked.

"Of course, I do! Not only does the cat not take a hint, you could tell that she feels uncomfortable with him." Chloe replied.

"Chloe's got a point. Chat Noir's crush on LB has gotten them in really bad situations that could've been avoided." Juleka said.

"Plus, it's like he's trying to own her. Not only that, but Chat Noir's obsession with her is really starting to get creepy," Alix chimed in.

"Maybe Chat Noir's really in love with her." Adrien said, defending himself.

"Children settle down!" Ms. Bustier yelled.

"I don't know if you children want my opinion on this matter, but I agree with the girls. Chat Noir's obsession with Ladybug is very toxic. I should know." Ms. Bustier stated, as everyone settled down.

"Thank you! Even Ms. Bustier agrees and she's an adult!" Alix exclaimed.

"Anyway, we should get on with our lesson." Ms. Bustier declared, as she shook her head as she started having flashbacks from the past.

"Ugh, I'm in love with Chat noir! Yuck!" Chloe muttered.

She was currently sitting on a bench with her arms crossed as everyone was surrounding Lila like she was the one who hung all the stars.

What rumor was she spreading now? Chloé wondered.

"Ugh, it was so romantic! He kissed me under the moonlight and we made out under the stars!!" Lila squealed.

"She's such a liar, don't you think?"

Chloé jumped.

She turned to see Marinette sitting next to her.

"Aw, Dupain-Cheng, are you crushing on Chat Noir?" Chloé asked.

"No! That's disgusting! I'd rather, I don't know, go dumpster diving!" Marinette exclaimed.

"Where's Sabrina?" She asked.

"Where else?" Chloé replied nodding towards the crowd of people.

"She really ditched you, huh?"

"Didn't Césaire do the same to you?"

"..."

"Touché"

"What do you think, Ms. Bustier said 'take it from me'?" Marinette asked, looking at Chloé.

"I don't want to think about it, Dupain-Cheng," Chloé stated, taking a glance at the bluenette.

"I guess you're right." Marinette sighed.

They both kept staring at the mob, wondering when they all would see the truth.

"You know, it's a bit embarrassing for Césaire to be falling for her lies." Chloé smirked.

"That's my best friend your talking about!" Marinette exclaim.

"It doesn't look like it to me. Look at her expression. She's going all Gaga for her." Chloé snickered.

Marinette looked down. Is Chloé right? Is Alya falling for her lies?? Marinette thought.

"The rape that happened earlier..." Chloe muttered.

"Yeah, seems unlikely to happen. Everyone seems so nice, ya know?" Marinette said with a shrug.

"Yeah, but the news reporter said he was a suspect. I think they also talked about how he could've raped his sister."

"Humanity is cruel."

"Feels like it always will be."
