A/N: Mikayla Knight was created by SailorChronos1, who is one of my favorite Knight Rider authors. Check out her Knight's Journey series (Knight's Journey, Knight's Legacy, Knight's Vision and Knight's Heart), they inspired my story, Knight's Proposal, which this story is the sequel to.
"UGGGHHH!"
"I see the head, baby's crowning!"
"Kitt! I don't think I can do this! UGGGHHH!"
"One more push, Mikayla, you're doing great!"
In the waiting room of FLAG Medical's maternity floor, Brahm's Lullaby softly played over the intercom. Michael Knight was sitting there. He heard the music, smiled gently, looking at the little girl who was snuggled in his lap, fast asleep. It was 3:30 am. Kitt had called him about six hours ago. Mikayla was in labor with their second child. Michael was taking care of their oldest daughter Annie while Mikayla was in the delivery room. Not even 10 minutes later Kitt walked into the waiting room with a big smile on his face. Kneeling down in front of Michael, he shook Annie's shoulder, waking her up.
"Hmmm...Daddy?"
"Hi Annie. I have some very good news. You have a little sister! Would you like to meet her?"
Time passed. Annie loved being a big sister. Little Charlotte Raye Knight lived up to her middle name, being a ray of sunshine and a breath of fresh air to her family. Like their mother and her big sister Annie Joy, Raye (as she came to be called) had an inquisitive and curious mind. But at the same time she had their daddy's sense of caution, knowing almost by instinct not to get herself in any situation that might cause trouble.
A few years later, Annie and Raye were happy to welcome their little brother into the family. He was named David Michael Knight. Michael was very touched that Kitt had chosen to name his son after him. As the children's adopted uncle he was a big help to both Kitt and Mikayla when it came to raising their kids, watching them and taking care of them after school while Kitt was on a mission with Peter Bishop and Mikayla was working in the garage. The only downside was David was a hot head, very stubborn with a bit of a temper. That didn't mean he was spoiled or entitled, not by any means! David just had a very strong sense of right and wrong, and a strong sense of justice. He hated seeing people being mistreated in any way and wasn't afraid to step up or speak out, whether it was at home or at school.
Growing up, all three of them had heard many stories about their grandfather, Wilton, and how Uncle Michael and their dad had worked together to fill Grandpa Wilton's last wish. Grandpa had told Uncle Michael that one man can make a difference. But even one man needed a team behind the scenes. Now Dad worked with Uncle Peter, continuing that legacy, while Uncle Michael was the director of the Las Vegas FLAG branch. Uncle Devante Torres (Mom's brother) and Uncle Karl (Dad's brother) worked in Los Angeles, being the flagship team for FLAG'S LA branch. Mom worked as a mechanical engineer in the main garage. Grandpa Wilton's legacy was something Annie, Raye and David were all very proud of and wanted to continue as well as they grew older.
As Annie, Raye, and David became adults in their own rights, they all knew what they wanted to do to continue the Knight Rider legacy. Annie became an assistant to Michael Knight, helping with administrative duties and acting as a liaison between Michael and the Foundation's board of directors. When Michael chose to retire fully from FLAG, Annie took over as the Director.
Raye, like her mother, showed a serious knack for mechanics, cyber technology, and engineering. After graduating high school she chose to go to a trade school to study mechanical engineering, then became her mom's apprentice in the garage. Kitt enjoyed having both his wife and his daughter in the garage. Both ladies kept up with the latest automotive technology and used their knowledge to keep Kitt in top shape for his job.
David chose to follow in his uncles' footsteps and become a FLAG driver. He went to the police academy, then trained with Peter, Devante and Karl. David liked working with his dad as Peter's backup driver. Working with local law enforcement, the Knight family kept Wilton Knight's dream alive, continuing to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, and the powerless in a world of criminals who operate above the law.
