~Prologue~
"-son!"
"-ason!"
"Jason!"
My eyes shoot open and I looked to my side, sitting up. My face turns pale as I stiffen.
"M-ma'am" I smiled nervously.
"You were sleeping on the job, Jason" Her eyes squinted to look at me, her black hair gently swaying.
"I'm sorry Ma'am, i'll get back to work!" I turn to my computer and start tapping the keys on the keyboard as she walks away.
As soon as she's gone I shut my computer and sign myself out of work. I change into casual clothes in the men's washroom and leave my belongings in my office. I rush out the door and hurry down the sidewalk to main street.
My name's Jason. Jason Christopher. I work as an accountant in New York and I hate my boss. A lot. She always gets mad at me for sleeping at work, even though I'm usually done with my work. Her name is Hope Columbus, and she is annoying. I'm her least favorite 'employee' as she calls me, and she always threatens to kill me if it means getting my work done. Not like she has the guts to do it anyways.
Whenever she says that kind of stuff it always makes me think of this unsolved crime, which is the reason people think our office is haunted. Once there was this person that worked in our office and their boss got mad at them for missing a day of work. only one day. And their boss strangled them. They say the murderer is still alive, roaming the streets. Nobody ever knew what she looked looked like or where she lives. Now that I think of it, all we know about her is that she's murdered more than one person...Creepy. Anyways, she'd never do that. Besides, that was 50 years ago, i'm sure that murderer is dead.
"Aaron! Aaron!" I call to the young man across the street.
Aaron is my best friend. He's a little younger than me, 19, but he's still amazing. We've known each other basically our whole lives, and we've become best friends.
After work we always hang out. He works in the office by mine, two blocks down. He's not an accountant but he still works in an office as a lawyer.
"Yo! Jason!" He called to me.
I smiled and ran across the street, but for some reason when I stepped onto the road he looked...confused? No, that was a look of horror.
"JASON!" He yelled, although I didn't know why. At least not until a few seconds later.
Bash. Something slammed into my body, like a thousand forces hitting a fly. I fell to the ground, my body throbbing with pain.
"Aaron...what's happening..." I called weakly as he carried me back to the side walk.
He was talking to someone on the phone, but I couldn't hear what he was saying. Everything was muffled and blurry.
"A-Aaron...what's going on?" I tried to get up and winced.
Everything hurt as I got my head to look up at him. Why does he looks so sad? So terrified?
"It's okay Aaron...I feel fine...my pain is fading away" I smiled softly up at him "Why do you look so sad?"
He shook his head. He was crying now, for some reason. "Don't leave Jason! They'll be here soon, hang on!"
What is he talking about? Where would I go? We're going to the arcade we always go to after work, than the grocery store, and after all that, we'd go back to our apartment and cook dinner.
Thank everything went dark and I realized. i'm dying I thought.
My eyes flickered closed and the last thing I heard was Aaron's scream.
