I've been flying through the air again; I've been doing it a lot lately. But regardless, flying is not something that can ever become dull. It's just such an alien feeling, one I never knew I needed. But feelings aside, I never thought I'd be flying for so long. It's a good thing I managed to work on my Aetheric barrier, as at the speeds I was going, I was sure I'd injure myself without it. I looked ahead of me; there, Superman flew through the air in a more refined way. Of course he wasn't going at his top speed, and I'd get left behind.
He was leading me to my apparent new team. Yep, apparently the Justice League held a meeting regarding some young heroes who wanted independence or something. And they agreed to establish a team of said young heroes. It's what Superman said, at any rate. And I was nominated by him. The others most likely agreed, as it was probably not the best of ideas to let some 'alien' be. So I was being led to this new team.
I can't say this was unexpected, but it occurred a lot sooner than I expected. Oh well, being on a team should at least allow me free reign of my power. I noticed Superman slightly beginning to slow down, so I followed suit, and the two of us merely hovered in the air.
"Well, here it is, your new home and base of operations." Superman spoke as he gestured downward.
On a small island patch surrounded by water with a tall building standing on it, said building was shaped like a 'T'. Ah, I'm a Titan, figures. There was also a bridge connecting the island to the city.
"Why's it shaped like a 'T'?"
"I honestly have no idea; Batman had said it was for practicality, but between you and me, I think he wanted it to look cool." Superman said with a smile as the two of us glided closer to the ground, our feet eventually reaching the earth.
"I mean, it does look pretty cool, so who are all my teammates?"
"If I remember correctly, they would be Miss Martian, Superboy, Kid Flash, Blue Beetle, and Robin, along with an extra member." He spoke as we reached what looked like an entrance—large sliding metal doors. "Also, Kara will be joining the team as well."
"Kara? She wants to be a hero." I asked, as she didn't seem keen on the idea last time we met, but to my slight confusion, Superman merely chuckled a bit.
"Well, she doesn't exactly have her head in the game, but when I mentioned you'd be here, she jumped at the chance."
"Odd, well, I'll make sure to help her as much as I can."
"Thanks Emet I'll be trusting you to take care of her. Good bye for now." With a wave, Superman flew off again, and with a burst of immense speed, he shot through the air and disappeared from view, a blue streak being left behind as he soared through the air.
So turning back to the metal door, I took note of the handprint scanner on the side. So, placing my right hand on it, a robotic-sounding voice spoke out.
"Identification confirmed: Emet." The doors smoothly split apart as I walked through. I wasn't going to waste time thinking about how they got my handprint, so I decided to marvel at the interior.
The main hall consisted of a soaring domed ceiling and incredible lighting fixtures. The floor was glossy white, and it seemed to be divided into several different sections. The main lobby area featured a giant screen that didn't seem like a television, so maybe it displays information and whatnot. Opposite the screen were a few doors, as well as what seemed like garage entrances. Hmm, the ground floor seems empty; I wonder where everyone is. Maybe I should use soul sight.
~Training room, fourth floor~ I frowned as an unfamiliar voice spoke in my head. But said voice had promptly disappeared, it seems. Miss Martian, no doubt that this could prove to be a problem. If she pokes around my mind, then I'll have to bring it up with her; I don't quite like having more voices in my head.
So I moved towards the elevator that stood at the center back; the doors slid open as I entered. Selecting the fourth floor, they reclosed as I mellowly sailed upwards. Let's see here...
Yep, that's Kara's soul; close to her is one similar to Superman yet much dimmer, Superboy, no doubt. Then a deep green one that's inconsistent in size and a vibrant yellow that almost seems to be pulsing with energy Then this one is a translucent black, Robins. I still remember it from back at that café. And then a light blue soul—not much interest there.
But, oh, this one's interesting. It's much denser than the other's, and it's heavily tainted. A deep, dark purplish color that almost seems black. You could tell a lot about a person if you saw their soul; this, along with Robin's soul, were conflicted. You can tell by now how strangely they pulse. Hmm, I might have some problems in the future if that purple soul is who I think it is.
The ding in the elevator cut me out of my thoughts as the doors slid open, signaling that I'd reached the fourth floor. So stepping out, I walked through the hallways and followed the bundled souls. The trail of their souls led me to another entrance, sliding metal doors like the rest. They automatically opened as I prepared to step through, though I immediately chose to rather step aside as someone was quite literally thrown like a ragdoll. Said person soared by me as they unceremoniously crashed against a wall.
"Mierda! My bad dude!" The voice of the apparent perpetrator spoke. "Scarab, what gives? I said 25% output!" Must be Blue Beetle, noting that I turned to the downed man who was already up.
Superboy I immediately noted. Simple black jeans and boots to go with them, and a black shirt with a red House of El emblem on his chest. Said chest was currently steaming, as though someone had tried burning him. And he had a fierce glare in his eyes, no doubt directed towards the Beetle. He stomped forward, all but ignoring my existence, as he walked back into the training room. I shortly followed him as he went back to fighting or sparring with Blue Beetle.
This was a training area, alright. It facilitated what seemed like cutting-edge training equipment such as treadmills, weights, and high-set ropes. There also seemed to be an action room, which was designed with rubberized paddy. Super Boy was currently going crazy on poor Blue Beetle in said room.
"Hah! I told you it was going to be a chick! Dibs!" Before I could pinpoint who needed an ass kicking, a burst of wind hit my face as someone suddenly appeared before me.
He had short red hair and blue eyes. He was also wearing a red and yellow bodysuit with a lightning bolt symbol on his chest and a yellow lightning bolt on his belt. He also wore red gloves and red boots with yellow accents. It was clear to see his costume was designed for speed and agility, with little additional ornamentation. He was young—about sixteen, I'd wager.
So this must be Kid Flash. He lived up to his name, as he didn't give me a chance to speak as he immediately ran his mouth.
"The name's Flash, Kid Flash. So everyone ever tell you, you've got beautiful eyes?" As he spoke, he seemingly disappeared from view with a burst of speed before reappearing in an instant. This time holding a rose. "If no one ever had, then I'll go ahead. You've got really pretty eyes." He finished with a cheeky smile. I stared and stared. Someone was trying to rizz me up, it seems. Poor fool.
"I'm a dude, my guy. But a for effort, I guess." Now it was his time to stare and stare.
"You're joking, right?"
"Nah, I'm a dude." He just stared at me with no small amount of shock.
"Whaa..."
"Hahahah!" He was snapped out of his stupor by a howl of laughter, and slowly the two of us were approached by the boy wonder himself. "Man, KF didn't know you swung that way. Hahaha!"
"Shut up, it was an honest mistake!" His face flushed slightly as Robin just continued to laugh. "Just look at him!"
Robin, alas, would not listen as he wiped off an imaginative tear before heaving a heavy breath.
"I can't wait to tell this to Flash."
"You, Dick, you wouldn't..."
"Maybe..." Robin let his words hang in the air as he turned to me. "You must be Emet; welcome to the team. The others are training, so it be best to get yourself acquainted."
"Right, well, thanks." Giving Robin and the still-embarrassed Kid Flash a nod, I moved past the two.
This training area was certainly spacious, and it was clear that a lot of time and money were put into it. I'd let my thoughts wander, but they were interrupted once again.
"Emet!" A rather happy, energetic, and familiar voice beamed. It was Kara who was fast approaching. She now wore a red cape and a blue bodysuit with a yellow House of El emblem on her chest. Her outfit also featured a red skirt and red boots. There's the iconic look, and she also seems to be fluent in English now. But barring that, I also took note of the girl trailing behind her slightly.
A young girl with a slim physique and an average height. She had vibrant green skin and short, stylish, vibrant red hair. She had soft features and just kind of looked like a green human. Anyway, as for her costume, she wore a dark green and white sleeveless jumpsuit with a red 'M' logo emblazoned on her chest. The rest of her outfit included a red belt around her waist and matching red boots. She also wore two silver bracelets, one on each wrist, and a silver choker necklace.
It must be Miss Martian; I should probably bring up that I rather don't like people poking around in my head, but for now I turned my attention to Kara.
"Greetings, Kar-omhf!" Apparently, Kara deemed us close enough for a rather tight hug. When I say bone crushing, I don't mean it metaphorically. I was quite certain she was going to crush my bones. Though it seems she was going to show mercy as she released me from her death grip, all while beaming a smile so bright I'd need sunglasses. "I never thought I'd get to see you again so soon!"
"Yep...good...to...see...you...too." I heaved out as I went about to repair my fractured ribs. Kara seemed oblivious to the fact that she nearly cost me some bones.
"Ah! You must be Emet! Kara's told me so much about you!" Miss Martian exclaimed as she got way too close to my face, so close I could make out each individual freckle.
I just sent Kara a raised eyebrow, the former just glancing to the side. For some reason, avoiding my gaze.
"Oh! Hello Megan!" She spoke as if chastising herself. "I haven't even introduced myself yet. My Earth name's Megan, but Kara says you're from out of Earth too, so you can call me M'gann." She introduced herself, beaming with enthusiasm I could only dream of.
"Nice to meet you." I got another smile as Kara spoke up again.
"I managed to get acquainted with M'gann before you arrived. I was happy I wasn't the only one so unfamiliar with Earth and its people."
Ah, that makes sense.
"Indeed it does." M'Gann agreed with the same beaming smile.
"Oh right, you Martians are able to read thoughts and whatnot, right?" Realization seemed to hit as her features morphed into an apologetic look.
"Sorry, I tend to forget that cultures of other races tend to be different from those of Martians." I just shook my head.
"It's fine; no damage has been done." Yet.
"Thank you; you're a lot more understanding than the others were." She said it with a smaller smile. "Some of them...got pretty mad."
"How mad?"
"Connor nearly lashed out at her." Kara informed him with a huff as she glared at his directions. The aforementioned Connor was still sparring with Blue Beetle with apparent difficulty as the latter's immense weaponry was unpredictable and overwhelming. "And the other girl looked about ready to lash out."
"Other girl?"
"Yeah, the cloaked one over there." Kara informed me as she pointed to the side. I followed, and then I saw her—the one who possessed that dense soul. She was standing by herself, seeming content with her solitude.
She was a young woman with purple-black hair styled in a choppy, asymmetrical cut. Her hair framed her pale face, and she seemed to have a permanent, serious, almost pensive expression. Her eyes were dark and almond-shaped, giving her an intense gaze that perfectly reflected the brooding demeanor she gave off. She also seemed to have a small gem ingrained into her forehead. And she was dressed in a dark leotard that covered most of her body but left her arms and legs exposed. It was black in color with a red gem on her chest. Along with that, she wore a long, flowing cloak that draped over her shoulders and seemed to trail behind her.
Raven...well shit. I can't say I wasn't expecting this, but still, this changes things. Her dear old dad will come knocking soon then no doubt, and I really don't want to have to deal with him. Especially as I am now. But it's not like Trigon is the only thing to worry about. The Titans tend to have a lot of villains aiming to take their heads, and now I'm one of them. Hmm, I might not have thought this through. But still, Trigon certainly stands out as the biggest threat, unless Darkseid pulls up. But still, even if I do manage to bring forth a Primal, I doubt that it would be enough for Trigon. Saying Trigon was insanely powerful would be a massive understatement. He's taken over entire universes, so I'd be nothing but a speck of dirt in his eyes.
The only Primals that could maybe stand a chance are the first two Primals. Zodiark or Hydaelyn I'd be willing to act as a heart if it really came to it, but bringing forth such powerful beings is no simple or small matter. For the former, it required an absurd amount of aether—half the population of Etheirys—just to imbue a Star with its own will. I just didn't have that kind of power. Well, unless I got creative, maybe...in place of Aether, maybe I could...no, just no. Something like Zodiark was simply beyond me. But it's not like I could ever bring forth the real Hydaelyn or Zodiark. But what could I do when, inevitably, Trigon would come? C'mon what?
Oh, right, I'm an idiot. Raven usually deals with him in most media. Damn, here I was ready to bring forth actual Gods. I'll just stick close to her when Trigon comes knocking. Still, I'll have to work on something so I don't immediately die. I would rather not die again. Because dying isn't fun.
As I thought of ways not to bite the dust, violet eyes met mine. Right, I've been staring at her this whole time. I'd break eye contact, but I dunno, there was something almost entrancing about her eyes. And well, I didn't want to lose a staring contest.
"You've been staring at her for quite a while now..."Kara's voice snapped me away from my staring contest as I detected an underlined tone to her voice.
"Hm? Sorry, I was just lost in thought." She narrowed her eyes at me in apparent suspicion, for whatever reason. "But anyway-" My sentence was cut off as Kara, M'gann, and I all collectively scattered just in time for a blue blur to fly past us.
Said blue blur was easily identified as a Blue Beetle, as said Beetle went crashing against a wall hard enough to leave spider web cracks on it.
"Ugh...okay camarada, you win..." He got to his feet quickly, just seeming a tad disoriented but not really injured. I took the opportunity to study his armor.
He wore a blue and black armored suit that covered his entire body. The suit seemed to be made up of hard metallic plates that were layered over a flexible underlay, seemingly allowing for free movement and the ability to fight with more agility and speed. Then there was his helmet, which covered his entire face with the exception of his glowing yellow eyes, which were visible through the sloping eye slots along with his mouth, allowing for expression. The helmet had a fierce and insectoid appearance, with ridges and spikes that gave him an almost intimidating presence.
I heard a grunt from Superboy as he stepped away from the action room. He and Kara seemed to throw each other glares for some reason as the former passed her and just walked to the exit. Leaving the training room with a word. It was that Superboy, great.
I looked over the faces of my new teammates. Robin, Kid Flash, Raven, M'gann, Kara, and Blue Beetle. These were faces I was probably going to be seeing for a while. Fantastic.
A/N: If anyone's curious then this Robin is Dick Grayson. Originally I would've made this a Young Justice fic but that would've been too restrictive and I'm no good on following a story. So I made this world that allowed me free reign. I would've added Beast Boy too but I didn't wanna overwhelm myself with too many character's just yet, but he'll be added soon. Also sorry for the incoherent sentences, I've been using a proof reader that messed up my sentences so I'll fix it eventually. Chapter 6 and onwards should have more understandable phrasing.
