A/N: Another of my post-finale one-shots.
Disclaimer: I don't own Chuck
"So, you're coming in later?" Chuck asked, his hand on the door knob, ready to head out to work.
"Maybe," Sarah said. She turned from where she was in the kitchen, washing dishes. "Hang on." She left the kitchen, walked over, and prepared to give him a kiss. She paused seeing the look on his face. "Something wrong?"
"Nope," he struggled to get out. She looked down and realized she had not put pants on this morning, just wearing his dress shirt. Why she loved being in them, she didn't know. Okay, so maybe, deep, deep down she did.
It was two weeks since the beach and the kiss that was supposed to unlock her memories. It hadn't. It had unlocked one memory…maybe memory was the wrong word. What she did know was she enjoyed kissing Chuck Bartwoski. What she wanted to do was drag him into her…their bedroom, although he wasn't sleeping there at this moment. But if she did that, she knew what that meant.
And it wouldn't be fair…to either of them. This wasn't someone she was dating. This wasn't someone she was having a great night with, this was her husband, who loved her. This was the man that if she made love to him, the way she wanted to, would be broken-hearted if they didn't work this out. She wanted to be frustrated with herself about that, but she had to be practical.
This man had been hurt, his heart ripped out of him by what Quinn had done to them…what she had done to Chuck. She refused to hurt him more. She had to play this the right way, the safe way, and Chuck…Chuck had been wonderful about it.
"So, are you saying your dress shirt looks better on me?" Sarah asked.
"You know it does," he replied, smiling. She smiled as she pulled him into a kiss. God, she wanted him, but she didn't want to hurt him. She couldn't. Not again. Not like she had. She had physically shot him and she knew that didn't hurt as bad as what had been done to him mentally. She pulled away, and noticed a look of concern on his face. "If it's none of my business, say so-"
"It's none of your business," she quipped. God, who was she? She couldn't help but giggle as he turned.
"'Kay, bye!" he said, heading out the door. She grabbed his arm, laughing, and pulled him back.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist," she told him.
"And you told me you weren't funny," Chuck reminded her. Her smile grew. "Is everything okay?" She gave him a confused look. "You said you may come in today, which means…you may not."
"Oh," she replied. He was so damn observant. She shook her head, and grinned at him. He kept telling her wasn't a "real" spy, but she knew the truth. "I found a box yesterday, and…I'd like to look through it."
"OH!" Chuck replied. "Right, sure. Ah," he paused, not sure what to do. She kissed him softly on the lips.
"You're not pushing," she said, as she backed away, her hand cupped behind his neck. "I don't know if you know this about me, but some things, I just need to do alone."
"That's what she said," Chuck said, bouncing his eyebrows as he turned, her mouth opened in shock. She burst out laughing as he opened the door. "Bye, Sarah. Love you." He stopped, wincing.
"Yeah, I know," Sarah replied, trying to help him get past the slip. She knew he loved her. She thought she loved him. She was pretty sure she did, but this whole thing. She rubbed his back, and he turned around. "It's nice knowing you're loved."
"Yeah, it is," Chuck replied, and then he winced again. "Not that-"
"Go," She said, spinning him and laughing. "Go before you put your whole damn leg down your throat."
"Hey, just take the day," Chuck told her. "Do…do what you need, and if you need me, I'm a phone call away."
"I know," Sarah said. "Chuck…I'm sorry."
"Hey, one day, we'll look back at this as just a step on our journey," Chuck told her. She smiled at him. "Okay, gotta go. Bye, love ya!" and with that, he was gone.
She let out a breath. "I love you," she said softly.

She put the disk she had found in the box, in the DVD player, and sat down on the couch. She hit play and watched as she showed up on the screen. Sarah hit pause. It was in her old apartment. She stared at the woman on the screen. The amused smile on her face, the joy radiating from her. She just looked so damn happy. Sarah hit play.
"Day twenty eight." Sarah pulled her head back, surprised. This DVD wasn't with the other mission logs. This made no sense. "Day twenty eight since that day in Paris that changed my life." Sarah blinked, her red test? "Day twenty eight since I finally made love to Chuck Bartowski."
Oh.
Oh, day twenty eight since…that. Sarah gulped, paused the DVD, and rubbed the back of her neck. She actually remembered that…activity. Boy Howdy did she remember it.
"Well, this should be interesting," Sarah muttered to herself. "God, I look so happy." Sarah hit play, and listened to herself.
The Sarah on the DVD glanced around the room. "I think this is the first night I've spent here since Chuck and I have gone exclusive." DVD Sarah grinned at that, and looked down.
"My God, am I blushing?" Sarah muttered, fascinated with what she was seeing.
DVD Sarah looked back at the camera. "I love him." Real Sarah put her hand to her mouth, and paused the DVD. It was absolutely obvious that she did. It was absolutely obvious that this was never meant for anyone but her and Chuck. Sarah hit play.
"Chuck has been introducing me to music, and he played me a song by Rick Astley called Hopelessly." DVD Sarah paused. "Oh my God, it is me."
Sarah paused the DVD, got off the couch, and walked over to the bookcase. She scanned the CDs, and found one by Rick Astley. She found the track she was looking for, put the CD in the player, and hit play.
I walk the wire every night
I can't decide between wrong and right
I've lost control over the things I do
'Cause I'm hopelessly falling in love with you
Memories hit her. Her holding a gun on another CIA agent that was trying to take Chuck away. Hiding Chuck in Barstow. She turned and stared at the happy woman on TV and the joy on her face. The joy that just radiated off of her face.
Now the one who never took a chance
Becomes a victim of circumstance
I've lost my way, now I'm so confused
'Cause I'm hopelessly falling in love with you
More memories hit her. Bryce telling her she was never good at this. Even now, she refused to take a chance and hurt Chuck. Sarah blew out a breath, fighting the tears that were threating to escape.
All my dreams are far behind me
They don't matter anymore
I don't care about the things I could lose
'Cause I'm hopelessly falling in love with you
Sarah thought back to the car as they drove to Barstow and Chuck telling her she could go to jail. Her answer, "I know."
She thought about how she had planned to get him away from the CIA, and how they would have to go on the run. She thought about the 49-B and how she had defied it.
Now the one who always played it safe
Becomes another who's lost his way
I can't believe it, though I know it's true
'Cause I'm hopelessly falling in love with you
Memories of the date they shouldn't have had came flooding back. She had wanted to play it safe then, but she couldn't. She couldn't do that to him.
And all my dreams begin to blind me
And I was so confused
And I don't care about the things I could lose
'Cause I'm hopelessly falling in love with you
She thought back to Casey's apartment. "Do you ever just want to have a normal life? Have a family? Children?" God, did she ever have a chance against Chuck Bartowski? She shook her head and grinned. No. No she didn't.
I'm not gonna fight it, I'm gonna choose
To hopelessly fall, oh yeah
You know I'll hopelessly fall in love, with you.
Sarah stopped the CD, turned, and hit play on the DVD. "He asked me to move in with him, and I said no. All I could think about was how much that would…that would be putting parameters on me…how much that would…that would take away all control."
Sarah stared at the TV, wondering why the hell this woman so much in love wouldn't move in with her boyfriend. It hit her. Why the hell did the woman in love watching this DVD not make the next step with her husband?
"I have always been about control. I have always been about the safe play. And Chuck Bartowski." She shook her head, smiling, and wiping at a tear that was falling down her cheek. "Chuck Bartowski is not safe." DVD Sarah gave a lecherous grin. "At. All."
"No he's not," Sarah agreed, a similar smile on her face.
"But that's the thing. The song is right. I love him. I am hopelessly in love with him, and I have to do this. The only person I'm hurting is me by not doing this." DVD Sarah paused. "No, that's a lie," she said softly. "I'm hurting Chuck."
Sarah looked down at the ground. "I'm done hurting Chuck." Sarah looked back up. It was almost like DVD Sarah was talking to her. "I'm done hurting him. I'm done worrying about everything else. I am hopelessly in loved with the guy. I am moving in. I am giving this my all, to make it work. I am committed. Hopelessly committed if I'm honest." DVD Sarah reached over, and shut off the recording. Sarah nodded and walked to the bedroom.

Chuck opened the door to the apartment. "Hey, Sarah, I'm…home?" He looked over at the table, seeing dinner on the table. "Sarah, did you cook?"
"Uh, you know I can cook," she told him.
"But I thought you were-" he stopped mid-sentence as she gave him a hello kiss. She pulled away, patted him on the chest, and headed back to the kitchen. "Everything okay?"
"Yes," Sarah said. "Sit, eat."
"Okaaay," Chuck said, sitting down at the table. She looked at the plate in front of him. He nodded, and took a bite. "Oh, this is good."
"Thank you," she chirped, taking a bite of her food. After a second of chewing, she couldn't stop the grin on her face. "So, is there anything in the spare room that needs to be moved back into our bedroom." Chuck stopped chewing and stared at her. "Something wrong with the food?" Chuck shook his head no. "Is there a reason you don't want to sleep in our bedroom?"
Chuck swallowed. "Uh, where will you be sleeping if I were to do that?"
She had to use every bit of her CIA training to keep her face neutral. "Is there a specific place you would like me to sleep?"
Chuck opened his mouth to answer, and then closed it. He started to speak again, and then stopped.
"I was planning on sleeping in the bed with you," she said, and then took a bite of her dinner.
"I would like you to snuggle against me," Chuck blurted out.
"Okay," Sarah said, one arm shrugging. She was losing the fight with her grin. "Chuck?"
"Yes, Sarah?"
Sarah laid down her fork. She stood up and walked over to her. "There's a lot of things I'm not sure about, and I don't remember, but there is one thing I'm sure about." She noticed he was holding his breath. "I love you. I'm not going anywhere." She bent down to kiss him, and squealed, as he swept her into his arms, and she found herself in his lap, sitting. "Sir, I am a happily married woman."
"Promise?"
"Yes, Chuck, I promise," she said. "So, do you wanna finish your dinner so we can have dessert?"
"When you say dessert…"
"Clothing optional," Sarah replied. She squealed as he went to stand up, holding her.
A/N: They're fine. They have a family, and they are ridiculously happy. Promise. Today's musical selection, Hopelessly, has been brought to us by Rick Astley. Take care fam.
