Three Zora were all about to die. One was Mipha, a Zora princess and set to inherit the throne from her father. She also happened to be one of the six Champions of Hyrule. She was inside her Divine Beast Vah Ruta and fighting a monster set by Calamity Ganon. She had nicknamed it Waterblight Ganon, and it was getting extremely close to taking her down. Another was Queen Rutela, the Zora Queen and currently getting her son Ralis ready to become King of the Zora. She was sitting on her throne in Zora's Domain, sending troops to protect her people from the monsters that were currently invading. She had sent her son off to get help from the Royal Family, but was worried about him. Ralis was still very young and she didn't want to lose him. However, the barricade made by her troops was broken and a strange man came through with an army of horrible black monsters. The last was Ruto, also a Zora princess and about to become the Sage of Water. She was currently engaged to a Hylian man named Link who was currently clearing the Water Temple of evil. Ruto was trying to keep the monster Morpha at bay until Link could get there to finish it off. She knew that her duty was to become the Sage of Water to save Hyrule from the evil Gerudo King Ganondorf, but doing so, she would have to give up her life. All these events were taking place in different locations and places in time, but at each of these moments they were all dragged into portals. All the portals met up at a man-made pond on the outskirts of the Westfield North High School property. The pond was part of an outdoor lab that was used by science classes during the day, but all three arrived in the middle of the night. They were all dropped into the center of the pond and were discombobulated, but not enough to keep themselves from treading water. It was a clear night and the moon was full. The moonlight gave just enough light that the three royal Zoras were able to see each other. Queen Rutela spoke first.
"I do not recognize you two. I can tell you are Zoras, but you are not under my rule. Did you bring me here, because if you have I must ask why?"
"I'm in the same situation as you lady," said Ruto with a rude tone.
"I wouldn't speak that way to your elder" said Mipha politely.
"Well if none of us are responsible for this, then who is"? Ruto asked.
Suddenly a voice spoke from the darkened surrounding woods.
"I am"
It sounded like a middle-aged female and her voice spoke with great wisdom and was as calm as the waters of Zoras Domain. The voice then stepped into the light revealing herself. She had long flowing blue hair that moved in the wind like waves upon the shore. She wore a flowing blue gown that also appeared to move like waves.
"Nayru" all three Zora said in unison. They all bowed their heads with respect.
"Rutela, Mipha, Ruto. I have brought you here at the moment right before you will become spirits in Hyrule. You all have unique powers and traits of the Zora people and those traits are needed in this world. I must ask you to each take one of your scales and place it in this pond. It will transfer some of your essence and power into the water. After you have each done so, I will send you back to where you were before" Nayru explained.
"Wait, you just told us that we're all about to die and so we have to do this stupid thing before we do" Ruto said, annoyed.
"You can't just speak that way to the Goddess of Wisdom" Mipha said with slight anger.
"It is ok Mipha. I understand your emotions, Ruto, but this is part of your destiny" Nayru said.
Ruto then apologized and took a scale from her head with a painful grunt and placed it in the water. Then, Mipha and Rutela did the same,
When all three scales were in the water, they glowed with a blue light and dissolved into the water.
"Thank you for your generosity. I must now send you back" Nayru said as she reopened the portals.
When they were gone someone else began to laugh.
"Din, you can let it out now if you can be quiet," Nayru said, annoyed.
Din uncovered her mouth and let out a long laugh as she stepped out of the trees with Farore who was giving her older sister a judgemental glare.
"I can't believe you actually did that"! Din exclaimed.
Nayru turned towards her fiery sister with an outstretched hand. Din looked down at her hand and sighed. She pulled out a golden rupee and placed it in Nayrus' hand. Nayru then smiled knowing that she had yet again won another bet.
"You guys are hopeless," Farore said, shaking her head.
They then left the pond and returned to the Sacred Realm, but didn't hear the rusting of bushes as three girls came into the clearing.
