"Dad wake up it's my birthday" a small child with sun-kissed hair and ocean blue eyes tugs on his sleeve
"Boruto 5 minutes," he said half asleep on his bed
"Come on it's 2 pm" the boy whined tugging even harder on his father's sleeve almost pulling him off the bed
"Wake up" Boruto suddenly had a deeper voice
"ASURA WAKE UP!" A voice startled him awake
"AHHH I'm awake, Yami what do you need?" He picked himself of his couch it feeling too comfy to get up but he did because if Yami was anything like Kakashi he would regret it
"One here's your new uniform Vanessa modeled it after your kimono, two were moving out you are coming with" he walked out of the room leaving our protagonist to his thoughts
'hmm, this feels nice' The kimono was an inverted (white magatama black base) version of his old one with the black bull's crest on the right sleeve. He grabbed his seal of writing supplies from his desk and headed to the door
He opened his door a walked down the hall to the right this time took the stairs to the left then he just followed the sounds of his compatriots
"So you're saying that we get to go to the beach and then do a mission?" Asta yelled from the other room voice as high pitched as it always was. He didn't really know what to think of Asta he was loud and annoying but there was a charm to him
"No, I'm saying we're going on a mission to get one of the magic gems or stones I don't remember. We need to get them so the eye of the midnight sun make a super weapon and kill us all, baka!" Noelle ranted to Asta voice somehow going even higher than Astas which shocked Asura somehow since ged been dealing with these idiots for days at this point
'The hell is a magic stone… wait are they referring to a mana amplifier if those are lined up the right way… I don't blame Julius for being so desperate ugh I would kill for some ramen'
"Finally decided to wake up Asura, also the uniform looks nice on you" Finral hollered over to Asura from the couch waving for him to come over and sit down
"Yami busted down my door I had no choice" Asura whined dramatically throwing his armings around and sighing extremely loud
"So you coming with us to the underwater temple?" Finral asked shifting from his spot on the couch basically falling off it from how he was laying on it
"Yami's probably strong-arming me into going to see what I can do when pushed" he moved to the rocking chair in the left corner and opened a book waiting for everyone to be ready 'hmm I wonder what I could do when pushed' he unsealed his books and
"Hmm true we haven't gotten the chance to give you a field test" finral pushed himself back up right on the couch with a slight yawn "I know Yami says that magic gets better whenever you push your limits but your strong but you haven't pushed your limits" finral pondered on how strong asura could actually be
"Where's Yami?" He flipped through a few pages looking up on magic stones 'Hmm magic stones they are connected to elves?' he grabbed a book sitting to his side 'a dead race of humanoids with pointy ears and a close connection to the mana' he sighed for a second 'im getting too old for this shit'
"Probably taking a long shit" finral looked over to Asura "Why are you always in a book?" There was a second of silence finral got out of his seat and went to grab a slightly stale loaf of bread taking a bite out of it also slightly struggling because it was hard as a brick "I need to talk to Charmy about making a new batch of bread" he whispered to himself
"One of my teachers instilled two ideals into me at a young age though it took me till my 30s for me to fully understand what he meant. He always said to look underneath the underneath and that knowledge was more powerful than any spell or sword" he put his reading down then just sat there 'kami I miss that lazy perv'
"Is he still alive he seems like an interesting person to talk to" finral took his seat back sinking into the couch thinking on asuras past 'what type of life did he live before joining us'
"Everyone get the hell over here we're going over what we are doing for the next few days" Yami shouted from the hallway getting everyone's attention as he walked to the middle of the room
"Sigh I wonder who's going with" Asura stored his stack of books in a seal and then put it into his kimono pocket 'thank the kami this my coat has pockets I would die if I were to carry all my seals around manually
"Soo idiots Charmy, Asta, Noelle, Vanessa, asura, and of course finral and me are going to get or defend a magic artifact from the eye of the midnight sun. The rest of you are to hold down the fort and perform some patrols in the major towns near us" Yami took a puff from his cigarette and started walking to the door "finral make a portal to that one port city down to the south" he opened the door and left it open for everyone else
"Aye aye" finral made one of his iconic portals stepping out of the way so everyone could file in 'i hope there's some cute beach babes' finral thought nose bleeding
"See you friends" Gordon whispered using up his one and only line for the next few chapters
Asura went into the portal first ending up in a first forest the air was salty the ground wetter the air cleaner. He looked around for a few seconds then he noticed there was a road with a few signs

'Isn't that where Asta lives?' he took a look around almost everyone that was come with was there except finral
"Now everyone's here we're going… (Yami walks up to the sign) that way!" Yami gestures for everyone to follow him they pass through the forest for several minutes the air getting more salty and the forest clearing out
"We're here la!" Charmy yelled before scurrying into the middle of town to look for fruits fish and breads to make into foods to eat
'Hmm nice fishing town maybe I'll find some exotic fish' he walked around looking at all the little shacks and the stands "How long we stayin' here Yami?" He started to head to the beach
"A week"
"Why in the ever-loving grace of kami did we leave just to sit in a village for a WEEK. I was looking to finally get in some serious combat and surpass my limits. But no let's sit in a village, I'm going to go train." He ranted his nerves on fire from the stresses of being technically dead and all his family being dead
"That's what we're going to do ..? Yami starred
"UGHHH just follow the sound of explosions" he stomped off into the forest to either 1 burn it down 2 chop it down or 3 punch someone to death

Yin magic: many shadow hands several hands emerged from his shadow grabbed a log then threw it into another tree it snapped in half making it fall to the ground with a loud thud
"AGHHH" he screamed
Yang magic: heaven piercer a white spear appeared in the and with the flick of the hand embedded it self into another tree almost cracking it in half and leaving some scorch marks on the grounds from the impact and heat of the spear of light
"Huhf huhf" he took a second 'I'm too weak how am I supposed to save the world without Kurama, Sasuke, or Sakura this is a simple move it shouldn't be hard ugh'
He sat down for a second grabbed a paper from his kimono and it glowed and produced a flask "Ahh I need that" he looked to his arm seeing a gash "When did I get that?" His other hand started to glow
"What are you doing out here asura?" Charmy walked up to him while he was walking over to his destruction to inspect it
"Taking out my anger on the local fauna" asura Huffed and took a seat on a stump of a recently decapitated tree the sun had just gone out and through the trees, he could see the moon coming up
"What's troubling you la?" Charmy also took a seat on a stump the log was only a few feet away and would be more comfortable but she chose to sit on the stump since it was closer
"Not something I would like to talk about" he looked up to the sky it had become night all but a few minutes ago the stars shine like a firestorm of the wild magic zone with blues purples yellows covering the blackness
"Cupcake?" She walked over handing an orange cupcake it smelled amazing a mix of orange and grapefruit pumped with sugar
"Yea thanks" he took a bite probably the best cupcake he has ever had slight lemon with orange and grapefruit balanced with sugar
"Is it good?" Charmy took another out of her bag and took a bite. "Hmm, I think it's good don't you think?"
"Yea it's good probably the best I had" he took another bite It was like trying ramen for the first time, absolutely heavenly he had just the frosting the first time now he had also taken a bite of the bread of it too
"You gonna tell me what's on your mind now?" She sat back down on the tree stump leaning back a bit and looking up at the stars
"My sorta grandfather once said that every star up there can hold a planet just like ours with people we'll never meet, thousands of lives not knowing of each other makes ya feel insignificant doesn't it?" He looked up to the stars thinking of all the people he's lost
"Why focus on everything else why not just look at the stars and eat cupcakes?" Charmy looked over to him sitting there just looking up to the stars through his mask
"I don't think I can anymore," he said with a sigh the trees rustled from an incoming wind and the grass swayed with it
"Why is that la?" She shifted in her seat
"My wife, kids, and friends are probably all dead," he said tears streaming out of his eyes no one even knowing only seeing a mask of indifference covering his face
"Do you think they would have wanted to not enjoy life?" Charmy asked another bout of wind went through the trees and the grass
"No but still I can't forget them," he said with a sigh leaning back so far he was basically laying down on the stump
"If it makes you miserable forget it" Charmy was using that type of voice you use to reprimand a child or a dog but a bit louder
"But-" he was cut off by Charmy
"No buts be happy" Charmy cut him off before he could wallow in his despair
"Thank you I think I needed that" he picks himself up and starts to head to town "Charmy where are we staying?" He looks back to the midget that he calls a friend
"Sword head inn!" She tells to him scurrying through the grass and trees on her tiny legs
"I guess you should show the way" he laughed

(1 week later)
"So idiots we have to navigate a strong mana zone the reason we are leaving today is that the currents are at their weakest now Noelle you up" he walked off to the side taking a puff from his cigarette
"I didn't know you could do your job Captain Water magic: sea dragons cradle" A giant bubble of water encircled them as they moved into the water
"When did you learn this Noelle?" He walked around the sphere a bit then he tried to stick his hand out of it only banging it as if it were metal
"A few days don't try to get out you'll probably get crushed with how deep we are" She was trying her hardest to hold the spell against the pressure
"Shit we're finally entering the high mana zone hold on to something if you can it's going to get a bit bumpy" Yami yelled bracing himself against the walls of the spell
"I'm going to die I don't know how to swim" Asta looked like he was going to shit himself he was shaking in one of the corners (what would you call a far side of a circle?) Paler than a ghost
"Yin magic: shadow pillars asuras shadow spread over the bottom of the sphere and several pillars of darkness appeared "This should hold for a while" he manipulated the shadows to make a flat surface for him to sit on
"Asta Baka calm down do you not trust me?" Noelle said playing on astas friendship with her to get him to calm down a bit
"Yes I do I just don't like being in the sea It freaks me out it's like something in me just says that I'm never supposed to even be by the water nor this deep" Asta sat down taking deep breaths
"Hey guys the currents are clearing up" finral points towards a clearing in the currents where a giant dome resides
"How are we going to get through the dome" Vanessa pondered with it being a mass-scale spell that can hold out the tides of a high mana zone then she came up with an idea at the same time as Yami
"We throw Asta at it" Yami proclaimed grabbing Asta by the back of the shirt and powering up his throw with darkness magic
"Nonononoono Yami please I beg of you to spare me please I'm sorry I took the last of the toilet paper and didn't get more" Asta begged for his life in the hand of Yami
"Ohh that was you.." Yami got into a pitchers stance powering up his throw even more with even more darkness magic
"When are we having his funeral?" Asura asked moving his shadows out of the way so asta doesn't hit them on his exit out of the bubble
"Week or two from now" she got a wine bottle and two wine cups "you drink?" She handed him a glass pouring him some wine
"To asta he lived a fine life, cheers" They clinked their glasses together then downed it all
"SOMEONE SAVE ME THEY'RE ALREADY CELEBRATING MY DEATH " he yelled struggling to try to get out of Yami's grasp but failing
"And HE HOE" Yami launched Astra at absurd speeds asta half way pulls out one of his anti-magic swords puncturing the dome followed shortly by the squad
"Finally sweet land" Charmy yells out running around like a little kid on sugar sticks
"Dam this place looks nice" The ocean temple was more of a coral city. Spires of stone dominating the skyline with colors of blues and yellows and below houses built into the rock with gardens of coral
"From what I remember Julius saying the big building in the middle of town is the temple well lets get going we don't have all day" he picked the now fainted asta and started to walk over to the temple
"So what type of enemies do you think we will have to face?" Asura asked to nobody in imparticular
"Hopefully only alcoholism" Vanessa joked taking a swig from her wine bottle that she constantly has on her person
"What's with you old people and constantly having alcohol Yami drinks that snake sokee?" She blanks on the word for a second
"Sake" asura corrects her
"Sake and Vanessa her wine and asura don't you think I don't see you having those parties where you drink from plates with toads of all things" she whined throwing her hands around to add more effect to what she was saying
Flashback
"So your Fukasakus great grandkid?" He said drinking some sake
"How are you even alive if you knew great gramps everyone died from Tree of Qliphoth opening and all chakra users getting killed" the toad ranted
"No idea," he said passing the plate over to Fukahima
End of flashback
"It's a thing I need to do as a sage?" He said trying to get the three other to write it off as fast he could
"Heh weird" Vanessa took her about the fifth swig of her wine she didn't real count it
"Well we are at the temple wait there's Yami, OI YAMI" asura yelled over to
"Hey idiots from what I can tell this is the temple we just need to head in" Yami gestured from them to follow him asta still on his back
"So I heard you wanted my magic stone?" An elder man came out of the shadows
"Are we going to have to do this the easy way or the hard way jiji" Yami lets out one of his menacing stares
"I wana play a game"
End
Ending notes this took me a bit longer since I didn't want to have fights in this chapter so I had to stretch it out so we can have a fight scene packed next chapter
Also thanks to okamikagew for giving me some good motivation and advice helps me get through the slog of writing to get these out semi fast
