Snowie sighed when she saw Baron's car in the driveway. Of course he was home early from work today. He knew she hadn't done what he had told her to. He would raise hell the moment she stepped inside the house. She pulled the elastic out of her long, icy blonde hair and ran her fingers through it.
She swallowed nervously and opened the door. She listened but he was quiet. She took off her shoes and walked further into the house. She heard the sound of wood burning from the fireplace and walked towards the living room. It was odd that the fireplace was going since it was Summer and warm outside. She settled her jade green eyes on him and forgot how to breathe for a second. He was holding the only memories she had left of her family. The pictures from her photo album.
"Where were you?" He asked.
"I went for a walk," she lied.
"Liar!" He yelled. "You went to work. I told you to quit your job. When I tell you to do something, you fucking well will do as I say. You live under my roof so you follow my rules."
She didn't dare offer to move out. He would never allow it. It would only make things much worse if she went against him. Her job was the only sanity she had left in her life and he was trying to take it away from her. He couldn't reach her inside those walls. He needed special clearance to walk through that door and past those guards. He hated that he couldn't control her there.
"Please," she said lowly. "I need this job. I'm gonna go crazy if I don't get to go out."
"You're gonna go crazy?" He sneered. "I'll show you crazy."
He threw the pictures into the fire. She screamed and ran towards the fireplace to try and get her hands on them before they burned to ashes. He grabbed her and held her with an arm around her waist and an arm across her throat. She scratched his arm and squirmed around, desperate to get free of his grip. He kept tightening the arm across her throat to a point where she could hardly breathe. She watched the pictures go up in smoke and she stopped fighting. Everything inside her broke down. Tears were streaming down her face and everything went black inside her. In that moment her entire life seemed pointless to continue.
"You belong to me!" He growled in her ear.
He let go and she slumped down on the ground. She heard him walk out of the room while she continued staring at the flames. All she had left was gone. Her parents and her sister were gone. He had taken the only memories of them away from her. Eventually the flames died down but she kept lying on the floor. She couldn't get up. Nothing mattered anymore. She wanted the world to go away. She just wanted to close her eyes and never wake up again.
