He pulled up outside her house that night with Mokuba in tow. Her parents were supposed to be out having a romantic newlywed night out, leaving a house full of teens with pizza and movies. What could go wrong?
Mokuba entered the house without knocking, he obviously felt at home here. "Hey kid," He heard Maggie say, "where's your brother?"
"Right here." He said, shutting the door behind him.
"Glad you could make it blue eyes." She said with a smirk. As Mokuba walked from the kitchen she moved toward him and pulled him into a deep kiss. "Hi."
"Hello, beautiful." She blushed a deep crimson flooding across her face. "What's on the agenda for tonight?"
"What are you in the mood for?" She asked, giving him a wink.
"Hello, Kaiba." Yugi came into the kitchen, catching them in compromising condition. They jumped apart, but the boy had seen. "I won't say anything." He said to the unasked question. "Joey asked when the food would be here?"
Maggie rolled her eyes as the security camera beeped. "I got it!" Joey yelled as things crashed in the living room.
"Joey, you break anything you're dead!"
"Ah, it's just Bakura."
"Bakura?" She asked, "is that one of the usual crew? I haven't met him."
Bakura stepped into the house and followed Joey to the living room. "Hello everyone." He spoke sitting his overnight bag on the floor. Everyone responded back except a woman he did not recognize. But his Yami did. "Chione" his Yami said. "My sweet desert lotus. I must touch her."
Ryou walked over to where the young woman stood talking with Tea. "Hello. My name is Ryou Bakura. Most call me Bakura." He held out his hand.
"Magnolia Gibbs. Most people call me Maggie." She smiled brightly as she took his hand. A jolt of electricity ran through his body and his Yami groaned, her skin like silk against his. He took control allowing his eyes to roam her body. She wore skin tight leggings that left nothing to the imagination and blue sports bra that pushed her breasts up putting large ivory mounds on display. They just begged for his mouth and tongue. Her hair was piled on top of her head in a high tight bun. In his mind he could see that hair loose and wild as she rode him, he had seen it time and time again, both in person and in his dreams every night since coming back from the afterlife.
"Food's here!" The one known to Ryou as Joey yelled and Bakura groaned as she turned and he could see she wore no underwear. He watched as she went to sit beside the priest, who immediately threw an arm around her shoulders almost as if it was second nature. Their eyes met and the priest gave him a cocky smirk.
"He makes me uncomfortable." Maggie whispered into the blue eyed man's ear. "I feel like he is undressing me with his eyes." She moved deeper into his grasp. "Do you know him?"
"Not very well, he's an exchange student. I guess he just didn't go back after the exchange program was over." He pulled her as close to him as he could, not liking the way the man was looking at her either. "But even if he isn't undressing you with his eyes, I am." She blushed and smiled up at him.
"What about your rule?" She whispered.
"I'm not breaking the rule by wanting you, just by acting on it." He kissed her cheek gently. "And know that I do want you, badly." She reached over him to grab a blanket and cover the bulge growing in his jeans.
"Those pants look uncomfortable, why don't I take you somewhere where you can take them off?" She wiggled her eyebrows at him.
"Don't tempt me Magnolia." He growled and she laughed. "I love your laugh."
"And I love the way you say my name, especially when you finish." He groaned and threw his head back, she was teasing him and making him crazy.
Bakura watched the couple all night, battling with Ryou to stay in control. As the night went on and everyone pulled out bedrolls to sleep on he watched as his desert lotus and the priest lay together on the floor, her head on his chest and his hand tracing her spine. The priest's hands on Bakura's former lover's bare skin made him angry. Especially because she seemed to enjoy it. He watched as she got up and walked out of the room, his eyes following her as she started up the stairs, until he could not see her any longer. He looked over and saw the priest glaring at him menacingly.
A short while later she came back down, but she looked different. She had put on a large blue shirt that fell almost to her knees, and thin wire framed glasses. The priest welcomed her back into the bedroll with a grin as the group around them stared. The question was not asked, the answer obvious to everyone. The priest kissed her firmly then stood and followed the same path she had taken earlier with his overnight bag and younger brother in tow. One by one the others left the room to change into their sleeping apparel, but Bakura stayed watching the pretty girl.
Maggie sat up bringing her knees to her chest. She was left alone in the living room with Bakura, and she was not comfortable with that. He was still staring at her and without the other man there, she felt vulnerable and exposed. Standing, she decided to make herself busy cleaning up the mess of pizza boxes and paper plates strewn around the room. While she cleaned she felt his eyes still on her. Gathering several pizza boxes she carried them into the kitchen. Dropping the empty boxes on the island she turned and found herself face to face with the white haired boy. She let out a tiny surprised shriek as he placed his hands on opposite sides of the island and pressed his body against hers. "Hello, desert lotus." he whispered, his voice gruff and dangerous. Nothing like the sweet british voice from earlier.
"Bakura, you are in my bubble. I would like some personal space please."
"But I want to be in your personal space. I want to be inside your person even more." He pressed himself harder into her and she could feel his erection through his pants. He reached behind her and removed the clip from her hair, causing it to fall freely around her.
"Bakura, stop." She slapped him, snapping his face back.
He turned back to her laughing. "Still just as spunky as you were all those years ago." He wrapped a fist in her hair pulling her head back, forcing his lips onto hers as she tried to push him off. He moved from her lips to her neck and she screamed. The scream brought the sounds of footsteps from everywhere in the house. "You stupid bitch." He said, slapping the back of his hand across her face. "I will make you regret that."
The pain radiated through her face, bringing tears to her eyes. She closed her eyes tightly to not have to look into those cruel brown eyes. "Get off of her." She felt his form being yanked away from hers and she collapsed into the floor, her legs no longer able to hold her weight. "Maggie." She heard Seto say and she opened her eyes to see his blue ones full of concern.
"Seto," she sobbed as he wrapped his arms under her knees and picked her up. He carried her back to the bedroll and laid her down. "Please don't leave me." She pulled his arms down to her.
"I will be right back." He promised, kissing her hair gently, as he turned and left the room. But she was not alone. Tea and Serenity quickly sat down on either side of her and wrapped their arms around her shoulders. She sobbed into her hands while the sound of a beating could be heard from the next room.
"Kaiba, stop." She then heard the sounds of a scuffle and saw Seto being pulled off of the man. Then she saw something heartbreaking, the younger Kaiba brother stood watching what was happening with tears in his eyes.
Pushing herself out of their arms she ran into the kitchen where the boys held the offending teen and wrapped herself around his waist. "Seto, stop." She whispered, but he continued to fight, trying to get to Bakura. "Blue eyes, stop. Please. Look at the kid." He stilled, his eyes focusing on her. She pointed over to where his brother stood with tears in his eyes. "Control yourself, for him. I'm ok, he is not." She looked over to the younger brother. "Mokuba, come here." The younger brother ran into her arms, giving Bakura a wide berth as he ran past. She turned and brought the elder brother's arms up around the younger. Then she turned to the white haired teen, she steeled up her resolve and looked pointedly at him. "Get out of my house. You are not welcome here any longer." She looked at her stepbrother and his friends, "Joey, Yugi, Tristan, please escort Bakura out." She turned back to the Kaiba brothers as she heard Joey and Tristan pull Bakura out of the kitchen. She did not breathe again until she heard the front door slam shut.
She moved back over to the Kaiba brothers and her eyes met the elders. They were full of concern for her, but she shook her head. He opened his arms for her and she stepped in, sandwiching the younger boy between them. He was still crying, she could feel the sobs wracking his body. "Come on boys, let's go watch the movie." She pulled away and taking both of their hands pulled them into the living room, sitting them down on the couch. She laid the boy's head in his brother's lap and sat on the opposite side of him, sandwiching the thin man between them.
The group was silent, none of them quite believing what had just happened. The only sound as they turned the movie on was the scared sobs of the little boy. After a while, she moved into the floor and turned her head into the elder brother's lap, face to face with the child. "It's ok kiddo. Everything is ok. I know you are scared, but it's all over little one." She stroked his hair gently. "I promise you darling boy, you are ok." She began to sing to him an old gentle country song that she had loved since she was a child.
I'll need time/To get you off my mind
I may sometimes bother you
Try to be in touch with you
Even ask too much of you
From time to time
Now and then
Lord ya know I'm gonna need a friend
Til I get used to losing you
Let me keep on using you
Til I can make it on my own
I'll get by
But no matter how I try
There'll be times you know I'll call
Chances are my tears will fall
And I'll have no pride at all
From time to time
The child's breathing had evened out and he was asleep. She placed a gentle kiss on his forehead and smiled up at his big brother. "He's out," she whispered.
The older boy nodded and she helped him to gently move the child from his lap so that he could sit on the floor with her. "Are you ok?" He whispered, pulling her into his lap as the group around watched them.
"I'm ok. I'm more concerned about the way it affected the kid."
"I scared him, not Bakura, I have never lost my temper like that."
"Maggie, are you sure you're ok?" Joey asked after a few minutes.
"Boys, it's going to be ok." Maggie replied to both of the young men. "Let's just keep watching the movie and forget this ever happened." She looked up and pressed her lips to his carefully. "I am ok. He's gone, I would just like to forget this ever happened."
The next morning Maggie woke to the smell of pancakes. Sitting up and putting on her glasses she removed herself from his arms and walked into the kitchen. "Good morning Mags," her father said, not turning around from where he stood at the stove. "How was the movie night?"
"A lot of fun, how was your dinner?" She poured herself a cup of coffee, refilling his silently. They both took their coffee black, and they knew how to have conversations with no words. A trait learned after years of silent summers.
"Good, Mira and I had a great time. So maybe you should explain why you were cuddled up with my employer." He turned to look at her with his arms crossed, spatula in hand.
"I don't know what you are talking about." She said turning to the cabinet to gather plates for breakfast.
"Maggie, I'm not stupid. So please don't treat me like I am." He sighed. "Maggie, you have been here less than three weeks and I just worry about you. Did he give you the bruise on your cheek?"
"No, that was someone else. I'm being careful Daddy. But I really did not intend for you to find out. This was only our second date."
"I would like for there to be more." They both turned to the man standing in the doorway. He walked in and picked up her chin examining the bruise on her cheek, anger in his eyes.
"Good morning. Coffee, blue eyes?" She asked, removing a coffee cup from the cabinet. As he nodded she poured.
"Thank you." He took the cup from her and sipped it. "This is good." He leaned his hip against the counter and using his free hand pulled her to lean against him.
"Mokuba still asleep?" She asked and he gave a confirming noise as she sipped her coffee.
"Look you two, this is damn reckless. Maggie, he is my employer, what happens if you two split up?"
"Nothing." The blue eyed man answered. "We split up. I do not let my personal life interfere with my professional life."
"You will have to pardon my disbelief." Jethro responded as he flipped the pancakes. "It's hard\
to differentiate professional and personal when you are grieving a relationship."
"Daddy, I really, really like him." He looked at his daughter and saw his own blue eyes staring back at him.
He sighed. "Just take it slow. Don't get too serious too fast. Summer romances have a tendency to not last, and you have to be back in Boston by August." The pair nodded and the taller man placed a soft kiss on her hair.
She moved out of his grip and resumed gathering plates and set about setting the table. "So are you going to tell me who bruised her cheek?"
"I handled it." Kaiba said, sitting at the table and holding up his busted knuckles. "If he can move today he'll be doing good."
Jethro gave an approving nod as he watched his daughter start to climb on the counter to reach something on the top shelf. He watched as Kaiba stood wordlessly and moved to where she stood on the counter. "What do you need?" He asked looking up at her, a bracing hand on the back of her thigh.
"I got it." She handed him several large bowls, "step back, blue eyes, I gotta get down." He wrapped his arm around her waist and pushed against her, making her fall onto his waiting shoulder. "What are you doing?" She asked laughing as he put her on the floor. Once he knew she was safely on the floor he stepped back removing his hands from her in respect for her father. Though if he was honest he did not care what the man thought.
Both men watched as she bleached the counter where she had stood and then pulled different ingredients out, measuring quickly she put wet ingredients in one bowl and dry in another. "What are you doing?" He asked her from his spot at the table.
"Making bread." She answered simply. "I always make breads on Saturdays, unless I have a wedding to go to." She laughed.
