Seth poured another cup of coffee and walked back down to the office. He had a good excuse if Baron asked. He had left his tablet in there when he went outside to walk Xander. At some point Baron would probably start checking the security cameras but so far he was enjoying the wedding too much to do so.
"Let's see," he mumbled.
He found the folder "memories" and it asked for a password. He tried Xander's name again without luck. He tried Baron's name and date of birth but that didn't work either. He drummed his fingers in the table for a few seconds and then finally tried Snowie's name. The folder unlocked.
"That sick bastard," he whispered.
He didn't know where to start so he just opened the first recording. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped when he saw Baron beat up Snowie. He couldn't even finish it. He closed the video and started scrolling in the memories folder. There were so many saved clips from over the years.
"That sick fuck!" He growled. "No, don't lose it now, Seth. She needs you."
He got up and walked out in the kitchen. He grabbed a bottle of water and walked out in the garden. Xander followed happily and went to pee on a tree. Seth took out his phone and called Snowie again. Once again she answered fast and didn't say anything.
"I unlocked the folder. Holy shit, Snowie. I didn't know. I didn't fucking know. I'm so sorry," he said.
"No ones knows," she said.
"How does he treat Xander?" He asked.
"He loves that dog. It's like the darkness inside him is only aimed at me. I'm the one in the wrong," she said.
"You're not in the fucking wrong! He is!" He took a deep breath. "Do you wanna get out of here?"
"Yes," she said.
"I'm gonna get you out," he said.
He hung up without any further explanation and walked back inside. He walked into the living room, grabbed his backpack, and walked back down to the office. He took out a USB drive and copied every video clip in the memories folder. He also made sure to copy the clip from last night that Baron hadn't gotten around to save yet. Then he looked at the folder for the security system again. He found the one thing he was looking for. He clicked it and watched all the cameras turn black. He had shut down the system. If Baron got around to notice, Seth would play dumb.
He got up and walked into the bedroom. He pulled all her clothes out of the closet and threw it on the bed. He searched the house until he found a roll of garbage bags. He packed all her belongings and carried the bags out in his car. He systematically went through the house until he found her passport and birth certificate too. He walked back outside and stored her personal papers in the gloves compartment.
He walked back inside and walked through the rooms one more time to make sure he hadn't left anything behind that she would need. He doubted he would find any rest tonight so he would probably end up going through the house several times before they arrived home tomorrow. His phone started ringing and he wasn't even surprised when he saw Baron's name.
"Hey, Baron," Seth answered.
"Are you okay?" Baron asked.
"Yes, everything is going fine. I've been watching the wedding. It's almost like I'm there," Seth said.
"It's just that my security system doesn't seem to be working," Baron said.
"Are you spying on me?" Seth laughed. "Baron! If you got my dick on camera, I'm gonna sue you."
"Not unless you took a shower. I don't film the toilet," Baron laughed too. "It's probably just a reboot problem. It's okay. I'll fix it when I get home tomorrow. Give Xander a goodnight kiss from me."
"Will do," Seth said.
Seth hung up and looked at Xander. According to Snowie, Xander would be safe. Baron's anger was only aimed at Snowie. He could get her out, and he would get her out. He shook his head. He couldn't leave Xander there. Even though Baron hadn't hurt Xander before, there was no way to tell if he would turn that anger to the only living being in the house with him once Snowie was gone. He couldn't risk it. He walked back inside and packed everything of Xander's except for a few items that could be packed tomorrow morning before they returned home.
"And now we wait," he sighed. "Now we fucking wait."
