It was almost eight before they left the hotel again, this time they walked. He had sent a member of the staff out to get her new clothes. She wore a long maxi dress and black flats. They held hands and she felt relaxed and safe. They walked in silence, the night cool and quiet.
"Here we are," She said at last. "Welcome to Dragon's Den tattoo parlor." She smiled as she pushed open the door. "MIKEY! I NEED INK!"
Seto watched as a large man, 300lbs at least, walked quickly out of the back. "Maggie!" He said and she rushed into his arms. "Oh babe, I didn't think you were allowed out yet. I know Tony usually keeps you on a short leash right as you come home." He slung her in a wide circle as she laughed.
Seto cleared his throat as the man put her down. "Holy SHIZZ!" The man exclaimed. "You're Seto Kaiba!"
"Mikey, this is my boyfriend." She said with a wide grin. The man removed his hand from her waist to hold it out for Kaiba, who shook it with a smirk. "Blue eyes, this is my tat dealer."
"So you're after a new one?"
"Yeah, I have an idea, but mostly I wanted to drag your favorite duelist down here to give you an autograph." She smiled up at him. "What do you say Blue eyes?"
"Anything you ask." He grabbed a pen and quickly signed his name on a piece of scrap paper. "This better not wind up on ebay."
"I can swear on this pretty little thing right here that it will not. So baby girl, what are you thinking you want?"
"This is going to take a while Blue eyes, why don't you wait out here." She kissed his cheek as she followed the larger man behind the curtain. He heard them whisper and the big man laugh as she let out a slight giggle. The sound made him jealous, she was laughing for another man, there was no telling what she was doing with him. "Ouch, Mikey!" she exclaimed and he jumped up. His hand was on the curtain when she said loudly. "It's ok Blue eyes, it's just a tattoo on a very sensitive area. This big lug is a heavy handed mother. I'm ok."
It was close to two AM when she came back from behind the curtain with a large grin and a visible bandage under her breast. "I tried to talk her out of it, man. Those underboob tattoos hurt."
"Mikey!" She warned with a laugh. But then she became serious. "Mikey, I don't think I will be coming back to Boston. I want to tell you that I appreciate all that you have done. Every tattoo, every long night we've sat talking. I love you Mikey, so much." Seto watched as the big man's eyes teared up.
"I love you, pretty lady. I will miss you too." She hugged him again and he placed a soft kiss on her cheek. He released her and turned to the tall brunette man. "Mr. Kaiba, it was great to meet you, please take care. And, please take care of Maggie. She is a special one." Seto took his hand in a firm handshake.
"I couldn't agree more." The man agreed looking at the smiling woman. "She is that. But Maggie, if you are wanting to go to Virginia tomorrow we must go rest."
"Goodbye Mag-pie."
The flight from Boston to the nearest town to her grandfather in Virginia was quick. Seto rented a car and she drove the short distance to her grandfather's house while he dozed in the passenger seat. They took one dusty road after another until she passed a sign that said 'Stillwater VA' population 800. He woke to the sound of her laughing. "Oh it's good to be home." He looked out the window and saw many big old style homes.
"You grew up here?"
"No, I grew up in Norfolk, after my parents divorced I would stay here during the summers while Daddy worked, He would come in on weekends. But most of the time I worked here with Jack." She pulled to a stop outside of a store with a large sign that said "Stillwater General Store."
"Jack opened this place when my father was a child, he and his partner Leroy. Daddy was named after Uncle Leroy." He followed as she jumped out of the car and ran into the store. "Jackson Gibbs." She called and a short man came from behind a row of shelves.
The man stopped short. "Maggie? Is that you?"
"Yeah, Jack, it's me." The old man wrapped her into a large tight hug. "I have missed you Jack."
"I have missed you too Maggie." He looked at the large teen.
"Jack, I would like to introduce you to Seto Kaiba. He is my partner in crime. Blue eyes, this is Jackson Gibbs, my grandfather." The old man held out his hand and Seto accepted it. His grip was tight and pleasing to the younger man.
"Here I was hoping a boyfriend would settle you down and keep you out of trouble." She laughed and shook her head.
"You know better than that Jack." She kissed his cheek. She walked to the counter and began picking up cans and placing them on shelves. "Hey Blue eyes, get to stocking, if we are staying the night we gotta work for our bed."
Jack closed the store early closing at four instead of six. Then the two men sat around the kitchen table while Maggie cooked dinner. Seto watched as she bustled about, grabbing ingredients and cooking strange food. "Jack, you got any salt pork?" She asked opening the refrigerator.
"Makin' field peas?" He asked and she nodded. "Yeah, it's in the back."
"I found it!" she exclaimed, taking out two plain brown packages. "How does field peas and snaps, fried pork chops and cornbread sound?"
"Like I have missed you." Jackson said laughing as she began pulling out pots, pans and trays. Seto watched as she cooked; she seemed to be in her element.
She sat the food on the table in front of the men along with a cool pitcher of tea. "Jack, I have missed this old kitchen." She smiled as she sat down and grabbed the hands of both men. "Alright Jack, bless the food." The man nodded and did as she asked.
"So why aren't you with your mother?" Jack asked serving himself
"I'm old enough to decide what parent I want to live with and I hate Boston. The people there are so stuffy."
"I don't believe you." Jack responded. "But if that's what you want to tell me, then I will just wait until you decide to tell me the truth." The man took his granddaughter's hand and squeezed.
"Thank you, Jack."
Later that evening the trio were getting ready for bed and the old man stopped them. "Where do you think you are going? You two are not sharing a bed."
"Jack."
"Magnolia, no. Your father would kill me." She chuckled and nodded.
"Come on Blue eyes, you can have my bed. I'll sleep on the couch." She pulled him into a small bedroom, leaving the door open for the older man's benefit. "This was my room." He looked around the room with tiny pink roses on the wall. The bed was a small twin, up against the far wall.
"I don't think I will fit on that." He said with a laugh.
"It's bigger than the couch." She walked to the dresser and began pulling out clothes for her, his eyes caught a pair of white cotton panties. She caught his eye and blushed. "This is all your fault you know?"
"How is that?" He asked, crossing his arms and trying not to get angry.
She looked down, "you taught me that I was worth time. You wanted to try dating instead of what I was used to. If we had just stuck with what I was used to I would still be in Boston, Tony would have had my IUD removed and would probably be trying right now to get me pregnant. He wanted me to give him a child, as a way to keep me with him." She saw that he was shaking with anger. "I thank you for that. I thank you for teaching me that I have worth, that my body is not the only thing that I have worth any value." She had tears in her eyes. "I love you."
He stepped to her and wrapped his arms around her. "I love you too Maggie." He brushed his lips over her hair gently.
His feet hung off the edge of the uncomfortable bed, but she would not hear of him taking the couch. He thought back to the things that she had told him about Tony trying to get her pregnant and Troy wanting to marry her and he wanted to ruin them. He would start looking into Tatterton toys when he got back home and after he made sure she was settled.
"Hey, Blue eyes, wake up." She was shaking him gently. "We gotta go if we want to get home before it's too late. It's a 14 hour flight, love." Bringing his hand up he pulled her mouth to his in a tender kiss, only taking what she was comfortable giving. "Well good morning to you too." She laughed as they separated. "Get dressed, I have to go say goodbye to Jack." She stood and he saw that she was already dressed.
