After the whole Thunderhead incident, Cain came back from a walk with Shaymin, only to see that the house was a wreck and Sonic and Tails are gone.

He then saw a note that read that Tails went out for drinks and Sonic got a job somewhere in the mountains.

Cain decided to head to the mountains to visit Sonic, only to be met with a funny scene.

After laughing at Sonic, who somehow got stuck in an eggplant, he head back, where they stopped by a nurse to get Sonic out of that eggplant, and rested at their house.

"So, what's the plan now eggplant?" Cain said, giving Sonic a nickname from his incident, while chuckling.

"Hey, shut the fuck up brain fucker. And I don't know. Tails is the one with the jobs." Sonic said annoyed, while also giving him a nickname.

"Hey, don't forget that I can find jobs too." Cain said as he looked up in his phone.

Then suddenly, Tails came in with a wheelchair, covered in bandages.

"What the hell assholes?! Where were you?! I had to wheel myself in!" Tails said in anger.

"Where were we? Where were you?! All I got when I came from with Shaymin is a note saying that Sonic is out on a job and you at a bar." Cain said annoyed as he looked up.

"Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that." Tails said after remembering.

"Seriously? If it weren't for Cain, I would have been stuck in eggplant for god knows how long." Sonic said,

"What?"

"I'll explain later. But you got to explain for yourself." Cain said.

"Well, like I said in the note, I went to a bar, and to be honest, I was drunk and I totaled the Tornado." Tails shamefully admits.

"Seriously, why did you total the Tornado?" Sonic asked.

Tails got nervous but sighed.

"Look. The reason I went to the bar is because I needed to drink the pain away. The level Eggman totaled costed way more. I lied, because I didn't want to tell you guys. It cost so much that not even the money we got from that Thunderhead covers it."

Cain and Sonic looked at Tails in shock by what he said.

Now instead of getting money for rent, they need the money to pay off for a damage video game level that wasn't there fault.

"Damn it! I guess Eggman really got his revenge." Sonic said.

"Well, I guess we need to double our effort if we want to pay back all of that money. Triple, if you count Tails medical bill." Cain said as he looked back in his phone.

"I'm sorry. That level belonged to someone important and it was expensive. I didn't want to tell you guys, because I didn't know how to react." Tails said in shame.

"Look. Let the past slide by. It's not your fault. It's Eggman's. Anyway, I got a job for you Sonic. A friend got injured in an accident. He needs someone to fill him in a motorbike race." Cain said.

"Cool. I've seen them on tv, so it won't be too hard."

Cain and Tails, who is still in his wheelchair, were at the motorbike race, where they saw Sonic on one of the motorbikes.

"Does he know how to drive one?" Cain asked.

"Well, he used to have two friends who rode them, but ever since the fall of Mario, they ended in bad terms." Tails said sadly.

"Really? Who are they?" Cain asked.

"I can't say. He might hear us. But we used to work together, way before the war between the consoles. We were popular, even after the war. But when Mario was killed by Bowser, things got bad. Sonic used our funds to buy coke, and put the rest in the stocks and lost it all. They were angry at him at first, but then at me when they learned that I told him. They blamed us for what happened, so they cut us from our lives. Before any of us knew it, Sega fired us and replaced us. The only one we are still in contact are Eggman, Knuckles, and Amy." Tails said as the race began and Sonic raced well.

"I get what happened to Eggman, but what really happened to Knuckles and Amy? I heard from Eggman about the Master Emerald getting destroyed. Did it turned him into a guy who is trying to look cool in front of teenagers?" Cain then asked.

"Actually, Knuckles was always like that. As for the emerald, no one knew how it got destroyed. Knuckles and Sonic were walking towards it, only to see it destroyed and void of all powers. It broke Knuckles, but he managed to recover, just a bit. Also, don't say anything about it to him." Tails answered.

"As for Amy. Well... she is still lording over Sonic like always, even after the fall. She didn't care for what he did. She would rather be the wife of a man who screwed everyone over. Never heard from her after me and Sonic moved into the house. Last anyone heard of her, she was with... him, because he looked similar to Sonic. Apparently, when she found out about Sonic getting laid tons of times, it broke her, so she went with the next best thing."

"Damn. That's kind of a tragic backstory." Cain said, feeling a bit bad.

"Yeah. I suppose it is. I honestly don't blame them." Tails said.

"I get why they would want to hate you. But one question still remains. Why did you tell Sonic to buy coke and stocks?" Cain asked.

This made Tails stiffen, getting Cain's attention.

"Well..."

Tails was interrupted by Sonic who came in with a medal.

"Guess who is the king of the motorbikes bitches?!" Sonic said with a grin.

"That's great. We can talk this later Cain. Go find the guy who is going to pay us." Tails said, whose mode changed when Sonic came in.

Cain nodded and walked to the man, looking back to see Sonic and Tails talking happily.

"I know you have a reason to create the fall Tails. But I'll get the truth later." Cain thought to himself.

After getting paid by the injured motorcyclist, the three returned to the house.

"So, what's next?" Sonic asked.

"Well, there is no what next until we pay off that debt." Cain said.

"Well, shit."

"Not only that. That was the last job offer I can get. Since Tails is too broken, looks like we have to do it the old fashioned way. Go out and search for them manually." Cain said.

"Well, double shit."

"Would you rather have a bullet to the head? Trust me, I know how debts work. Anyway, I think we can find some jobs in another city. Luckily, I know just the city." Cain said.

"Ok, I'll head out in DigDug field. You go in the PAC Arena." Cain said.

"And why are we at the city where your family lives?" Sonic asked.

"One, we aren't a family yet. Two, this city could have some jobs that could pay us really well. So while Shaymin stays with Tails, who is still recovering, we are going to find some jobs." Cain explained.

"Fine. But one job and we are done." Sonic said.

"Ok, fine. We look for one job. If we don't get any money, we can leave." Cain said.

"Good." Sonic said as he headed towards his destination, while Cain goes to his.

Cain walked in DigDug field, to see a small man with a harpoon attached to a bike pump.

"Excuse me sir? Do have a job for a man like me?" Cain said to the man.

"Oh Jesus!" The man yelled as he points his harpoon at Cain.

"Oh sorry. I thought you were one those monsters down underground."

"I get that a lot. Anyway, do you have a paying job I can take? I need one that pays well." Cain said.

"Sorry, but I don't have one. What I'm doing is voluntarily. Someone got to make sure that the monsters doesn't rise and do horrible things to the people."

"Fair enough." Cain said.

"Yeah. I can't let monsters be released into the world. Monsters like you, Cain Cain."

Cain was shocked by what he had heard from the man's mouth.

Cain had never told anyone his last name, which was his own first name.

The only one who knows his last name was the police back at his old home.

"Surprised to hearing your last name? You may not know who I am, but I do know who you really are. I was there in the jury, when we sentenced you to life without parole. You managed to escape justice was because of the fall of downtown, you-"

"If you want to kill me, you can't." Cain interrupted.

"Do you want to know why? It is because you can't let these monsters go up, like you said. What would happened if you were found on the ground, dead with a broken neck. The industry can replaced, but by then, the people would get ravaged by those monsters. So here is what you are going to do. You are going to continue your job, and forget about what had happened here. I got a chance to do things differently, and I won't have that get ruined. Just because I'm know a different man, doesn't mean I can go back to who I really am. So, if you think you can tell the world who I really am or try to attack me. Just know that I can do much worse to you." Cain said to the man.

He then walked away, with the man grumbling, knowing that he had won.

"Whatever. I'll tell the world once you are gone Marry Poppins."

Cain responded by holding back the urge to go an strangle the man with his own intestine.

He can't kill him because he know what would happen after.

He may be a monster, but he can't let other get hurt.

So Cain is protected by his threats, while the man is protected by his role.

It was a stalemate.

As he walked back, he saw Sonic as some sort ghost, dragging his own body.

Sonic looked at him with a blank stare.

"Don't ask."

"Wasn't planning to. Anyway, let's stop by at the house to patch you up." Cain said.

Sonic groaned and nodded as the two made their way to Mother Brains's house.

While Mother Brain's worked on Sonic's body, Cain sat on a couch, where Senequa was drawing something on a paper.

She turned to showed it to Cain.

Cain looked at it and saw it was a drawing of Cain, with Mother Brain and Senequa.

Cain smiled and patted her in the head.

"Great job Senequa." Cain said.

"Thanks daddy." Senequa said before asking.

"Are you ok daddy? You look sad."

"Oh. It's nothing. Just had a bit of a bad day." Cain said.

Senequa nodded and went back to drawing, while Cain thinks of ways of trying to get the miner while not endangering the lives of others.
