"It started right after Mom was murdered. I lost my mind for a while. I started stealing Tony's alcohol. I would get black out drunk and not remember anything." She sniffed and picked up her cold coffee cup. Seto took it and replaced her cold cup with his hot one.
"It was one of those nights when Troy found his way to my room. I was fourteen with a twenty-seven year old man in my room. He soon found his way into my bed." She reached for Seto's hand. "The next morning, I woke up with him naked with bloody sheets and no memory of the act, but knowledge of what happened. That same morning, I went to Viviane to tell her what happened. She called me a whore, and accused me of fabricating the whole thing in an attempt to cause trouble for her family. Getting no help from her I went to Tony to beg my case. That made things worse." She went to wipe her eyes and Seto placed a handkerchief in her hand. "The next day I had an appointment for birth control, it was the pill for a while. Once the pill was in my system, I started having almost nightly visitation from either one brother or the other. Sometimes they would pass each other, one coming one going. My only reprieve was when I was on my period, but Tony got tired of not having me those weeks. So an IUD was implanted. Then I was at his disposal at all times."
"Why didn't you say anything Maggie?" She looked over at the tears in her father's eyes. "I could have gotten you out of there."
"I wanted to at first, but Tony threatened you. He threatened to have you killed then I really would be stuck with him. He constantly told me that no one would believe a whore like me, and that I was only a good place to rest his dick. That I was worthless if I wasn't sucking him off or taking him. After a while, it kinds of gets to you ya know. That's all I thought I was good for, and Viviane was no help. She would get Tony riled up sexually then send him to my room. What kept me going was that I just had to endure until I was 18. I was homeschooled, and he worked from home most days, and on days he was at the office, Troy was home. So I was literally at their disposal all day every day. I joined a homeschool acting troupe and Tony got pissed, but he knew I needed something outside of the house. So he allowed it, by bankrolling the troupe and paying for all of the productions."
She looked between the two men. "But then you moved here and married Mira. I met Seto at the rehearsal dinner and saw sparks." She saw her father shoot her boyfriend with an evil look. "I fell in with him quickly but that's all I knew. But then he wanted to date. I had never been on a date before. But there was this incredible blue eyed man wanting to take me out, so I decided to try it. The first time we went out he told me that I had things to say that were worth saying. Daddy this man taught me self worth. He taught me that I was more than a walking sex doll." She reached out for his hand and Seto obliged.
"This time when I went back to Boston, the assaults started on the plane. It was fourteen straight hours of Tony's hands and mouth on my body. Then when I got to the house it was Troy's turn. Then Troy started talking about us getting married, so that I wouldn't leave. Then Tony starts talking about how he had made an appointment to get the IUD removed so that we could start trying for a baby. I called Seto for help the night I got there. If he hadn't showed up in the next few days I was planning on buying some pills from the guy that hangs around the theater after a show. Or I could have got the right stuff from Mikey."
"Your tattoo artist is a drug dealer?"
"No, but he could have gotten me anything I wanted or needed. Mikey knew something was going on, but not exactly what was going on. But that's it Daddy, that's how we wound up here. But we did stop by and see Jack, he's doing good. Says he misses you and that he wants to see us at Thanksgiving or Christmas. Personally I would love for him to come move in with us, so we could do all of the holidays with him." She winked at Seto. "Daddy and Jack don't get along very well"
"Maggie, go get your phone." Seto spoke in a whisper. "I know it's been off since we left Boston." She nodded and went to retrieve the purple and black brick. She brought it back to Seto who turned it on and the phone started blowing up with texts, missed calls and voicemails. Her mailbox was full, she had over two hundred missed calls and close to a thousand texts, from the same two people. "I'm getting you a new phone number." Seto said.
He picked up the phone to start deleting the messages, but her father stopped him. "No, don't delete them, we can use them."
"Daddy I don't want to go to court with this."
"We can at least try for a restraining order. No contact at least." She nodded. "We will just get you a whole new phone. Android, right?"
"Preferably."
"I've just ordered the newest one. You should have it within a day or two. It will be on my plan, so it's all top of the line. New case, too, matches your old one." She watched as he put his phone down.
She looked at him. "Thank you, but I can supply my own phone. You don't have to buy me things."
"I know, but I wanted to." He stood and kissed her. "It's after eleven, and I've missed several days of work. I'm going to go to the office. Would you like to come?"
"I think I will stay here. I just want to hang out here today, if that does not offend you."
"Not a chance." He pressed a small kiss to her lips as he placed her cold coffee cup in the sink and refilled the one he gave her. "I love you. Would you mind if I came back for dinner?"
"Not a chance," She mimicked with a smile and wink. "And I love you too. Have a good day."
She spent the Saturday making her bread and sharing coffee with her father. She cooked chicken and rice with cornbread for dinner and he called her stepmother and siblings home. It was a time of many hugs and much confusion, no one quite understanding why she was suddenly home, but they were pleased.
Saturday nights were supposed to be movie nights with Joey's friends but he had canceled once he found that she was home, thinking that something was wrong. "Joey, call them and tell them it's back on." She said, smiling at the boy. "Some normalcy would be good." She watched them eat while waiting on the blue eyed man.
Eventually she took her fathers phone and called him. "Jethro, is Maggie ok?"
"Mags is ok, just fine." She answered with a smirk. "Just wondering why her favorite man stood her up?"
"I didn't stand you up" he said then there was a slight pause. "I guess I did stand you up. I didn't realize it was so late." She smiled.
"You gonna be much longer?"
"Probably. Maggie, I am so sorry."
"For what? You missed a weeks worth of work because of me. You have to make it up. I'll bring you some dinner."
"That would be great." She smiled and hung up.
"Daddy, I am going to bring Seto some dinner." She handed him his phone back as the man nodded. She busied herself making his food.
She pulled up outside his office and gathered the armload of food, using her key card the door opened and she slipped inside, it locked automatically behind her. Maggie smiled, thinking of the blue eyed man that was waiting on her. But first, she stopped by the security office and knocked on the door. His bodyguard answered "Miss Gibbs, Mr. Kaiba is not here."
"I came here to see you Roland." She pulled two hot dishes from her thermal bag. "I brought you dinner." She smiled up at him, "and please Roland, none of that Ms. Gibbs crap, call me Maggie."
He took the plates from her with a shocked look. "Thank you, Maggie" She smiled and waved goodbye, going to his personal elevator. Taking it all the way to the top she was anxious to get to him. She had missed him, after being together all day every day she had quickly become used to being with him all the time.
The elevator door opened and she found herself walking quickly down the hallway to his office. She was practically running as she got to his door and she stopped to compose herself before she went in. Pushing open the door she saw her love sitting behind the desk with the lights dimmed. His face had an eerie blue glow from the screen. He looked up at her and put a finger to his lips then pointed to the couch where his little brother slept. She nodded and eased in closing the door behind her.
She walked over to the desk as he began shuffling papers around to make room for the food. She laid the plates out before him with two thermos. He looked confused. "One has tea, one has milk. Just trust me. I'm not crazy." He nodded and started in on the food. "Don't eat all the cornbread, that's what the milk is for."
"You are crazy."
"Nu uh, cornbread and milk is a true southern delicacy."
"I'll take your word for it." She laughed and rolled her eyes.
"I smell food." Said the black haired lump on the couch. He sat up and rubbed his eyes sleepily, looking around the room. "Maggie!" His eyes lit up. "You're home!"
"Hey kiddo." She wrapped the boy in a large, smothering hug. "I've missed you."
"Hey, Seto, what're you eating? That smells good."
"It's chicken and rice." She answered. "Why don't I bring you to my house and feed you. Then you can either spend the night or your brother can come pick you up when he's done." She shot a wink to the older brother. Both knowing the kid would be asleep by the time he finished his work.
Mokuba smiled at her. "Maggie, you look different."
"Oh yeah, how so?"
"It's the glasses. I like them. They make you look smart." She laughed and kissed the boy on the head.
"It's official, you're my favorite."
