Static Shockwave Season 01 Episode 02
We see that a few the school's sports teams were practicing including that of the track team and that Virgile and Richie were standing there with Frieda as Virgil questions "Okay, remind me why we're here again?"
"Because the school paper wanted to do a report on the track and field teams?" Richie answered back though it was more of a question than an answer.
"Okay but why are we here, that's a frieda thing, not a me-da thing." Virgil then stated back about what's going on right now.
"Coach said to stay after school for a bit for something." Richie answered back about why they were there too.
The star of the Track team had come over to speak with them having not even noticed Fried was trying to get an interview as he was too focused on what he needed to deal with and says "Hey Virgil, think you can do me a solid? My math and science grades are a little shaky, Coach said get a tutor or I'm off the team and everyone says you're the man with the brain so think you can help me?"
"Ya I can help but I gotta meet up with my Pops soon and help with the Rec Center so how about we meet back up around say six?" Virgil spoke about meeting up later on to help him with studying.
"Sure, sounds good." The track star spoke in response and began to head off forgetting that Fried was right there with a notepad and pen.
"Alright now we can get out of here, c'mon Rich." Virgil then stated and the two headed off while Frieda tried to chase after the track star.
Well, later on we see that Virgil was helping the track star with understanding it and going over different stuff in different books before stating "Alright Derek let's crack open that Algebra book."
The Track star, Derek, responds saying "Great, all those Xs and Ys it's Alphabet soup to me." while looking tired from dealing with the homework.
"Relax, once you realize you'll probably never use it in real life it'll take all the stress away." Virgil then joked helping to relax Derek but he'd started to get cramps. "You alright?"
"Ya, I uh, just remembered I need to stop by the store for my mom. We'll get to the algebra tomorrow I gotta head off before the place closes." Derek answered back packing up his stuff and throwing his jacket back on. "Thanks I can feel those As already and I'm sure they'll help put a smile on my mom's face again." and then headed off in a hurry.
A bit later on some glowing creature had caused some issues and Static had come in to help trying to stop a cop car that was skidding on the ground across a store parkinglot and he'd just barely managed to get it to stop just as it'd bumped against the walkway in front of the automated doors. He then flew over the car and landed behind it and pulled up his sleeves shaking his hands before using his electrokineses to slowly lift the car and flip it rightside up and gently setting it on the tires.
Noticing a fire hydrant was busted he'd used his powers to rip off the roof of the squad car and wrapped it like a roll of paper and stuffed it into the top looking around for the creature questioning "Alright now where'd they go?" before flying off to look for them.
We then cut off to later that night and Static was with Richie questioning "What am I supposed to do with a folded piece of foil?"
"Toss it into the air and give it some juice." The blond answered back and when they'd done so the foil folded out into the shape of a disk.
"Okay that's cool." The hero stated in response and made the disc come to him stepping onto it and flying around on it.
"Like it? It's made of mylar, the stuff's stronger than reinforced steel. I call it the Static Saucer." Richie stated about the disk that they were flying around on.
"I call it my slick new ride." Static answered back flying around on it for a bit before moving back down to Richie adding "Just in time for Patrol too."
"Hey just doing my job." Richie then stated back as the two bumped fists. "So Derek didn't show up for tutoring again huh?"
"Ya, no one's seen him in days, not even his track buddies." Static answered back about the situation "Dude's gone totally A-Wall but I'mma keep an eye out for him." before then flying off to go patrol around the city.
He'd flown around the city and got kicked in the back by someone falling off of the saucer and into a pile of garbage before getting himself up and began to dust himself off.
"Am I seeing things, or did I just get jacked by a girl with feathers?" The electrokinetic hero questioned before smelling his costume and stating "Great, now my gear smells like chineese takeout."
Someone had thrown something at him that he'd managed to barely dodge and rolled onto his hands before flipping back onto his feet as someone with purple hair says "Nice leap supershocker or whatever your name is. Can we play again?" though the saucer then flew down smacking him in the side of the head.
"That's what you get." Static stated but was blasted again by the guy getting knocked into the wall but had gotten up seeing the bird girl and the guy with purple hair alongside a large glowing golemlike creature and questions "Great, three on one huh?"
A voice then speaks up saying "Relax Hero, we just wanted to get your attention." as shadows began to wrap around him and swallowed Static up and vanishing.
The shadows had taken Static to an underground and abandoned train station that had old cars left abandoned down there and the hero says "Man, talk about your last stop."
"It serves our needs quite well." The voice spoke before swirling black energy appeared on a wall and a figure appeared from it taking a form of a black and purple humanoid figure stating "Call me Ebon, master of the shadows and darkness."
"Not very modest are you huh?" Static questioned the man that was in front of him about the terms he used to describe himself.
"No time for modesty hero. I see you've already met the rest of my partners. First there's Talon." Ebon stated as the birdlike girl jumped down in front of him.
"We've bumped into each other before." The bird girl, Talon, stated while looking over at Static as she does so.
Ebon then puts his hand on her face having Talon look up at him stating "She's our little turtle dove." before moving onto the next one stating "Then there's Shiv."
The guy with purple hair, Shiv, then jumped onto one of the abandoned cars and threw exploding shuriken at the hero's feet made of the same energy that he'd used on them earlier stating "My aim must be off today." before letting out a cakle.
"Shiv makes explosive energy based weapons, and the sharper the better." Ebon told them before then turning and walking towards the glowing mound stating "And this is our latest recruit, a powerhouse of ionic energy D-Struct. He's a little shy at first but he warms up." as the mass looked sorta ashamed.
"Don't I know it, so you bring me down here for a meet-n-greet?" Static answered back crossing his arms in front of himself.
"More like a proposition, join us. We're a new breed, the Meta-Breed." The living shadow stated to them about what's going on.
"Good for you, but I think I'm out of your species." The electrokinetic hero stated to them angering Talon.
"Look, just because that gas didn't mess up your face doesn't mean you're not a freak like us!" Talon had stated trying to claw Static but Ebon put his hand on her wrist stopping her from doing so.
"Up there, they call us creatures, monsters, they forced us to go underground. But it's all good we've been biding our time getting to know each other, take D-Struct here for example. Up there he's an outcast but with us he's found a home, right Derek?" Spoke the Master of shadows speaking to the golem of ionic energy. "So how about it?"
"Thanks but I don't play well with others." Static answered back angering Talon as she'd tried to attack him again, but was again stopped from doing so.
"Temper Talon, he needs time to think about it." Ebon told her as he'd then turned and opened a portal shoving Static through it. We then see a portal opening up in an alleyway where Ebon threw Static out at stating "I'm gonna warn you hero, if you don't join you're going straight to the top of our list, see you soon." before vanishing again.
We then cut to later as Virgil was walking with Richie and the former was saying "I'm telling you Rich, that Ebon guy called D-Struct Derek, and Derek wasn't at school again today. That can't be coincidence."
The two knocked on a door of the place they were walking to and a woman answered it saying "Yes?" wondering who they were.
"Uh, Misses Barnett? I'm Virgil, and this is Richie. We're from Derek's school an"Have you seen Derek, do you know where he is?"" Virgil began to say but was cut off by the woman asking if they've seen her son.
"You don't know?" Richie questioned in response since they'd come to see if she had any clues as to where he was.
"Derek hasn't been home in four days." Derek's mother stated looking worried before continuing to say "We've been arguing lately about his grades, maybe I was too hard on him. He'd stormed off." then looked even more upset.
"Misses Barnett, I don't think he'd run away because of that. I was supposed to help tutor him to help with that but he'd vanished after the first lesson." Virgil answered back trying to help her feel better.
"Please, if you do see Derek again, tell him to come home." Derek's mother then spoke asking them to help her get her son back home.
We then cut to Static using headphones tuned into to the police freqencies and such when he'd heard someone requesting backup and he'd flown off to go and try to see what was going on assuming it was Ebon's Meta-Breed crew. He'd gotten there seeing them stealing money from an armored car and blasted Ebon.
"Now you know that money doesn't belong to you." The hero stated to the gang leader and when Talon tried to attack he'd electrified a soccer net and made it stick to the wall with her in it stating "Claw your way out of that one."
When Shiv attacked using baseballs and a bat made of energy Static then used a trampoline to bounce them back at him before using his powers to throw the trampoline itself and went over to D-Struct stating "What kind of athlete are you Barnett? I know you're in there Derek don't go out like this."
"Time to Split." Ebon spoke creating a portal for them to escape through, however Static had followed through it too ending up inside the place as well.
"Derek, you don't have to live like this. You got people who still care about you, your friends your mom." Static stated as they'd all been thrown out by Ebon's portal into the station.
"My mom don't need to worry about this, I'm a freak." D-Struct told him in response not ready to go back out there.
"Derek, your mom thinks that you left because of her and it's eating her up inside man. You gotta go home just because Ebon wants you to think you're a freak don't make you one." Static stated to them about what's going on at the Barnett household right now.
As they were talking Ebon had wrapped himself around Static shutting his mouth stating "You are working my last never hero."
Derek however had blasted both Shiv and Talon, then static put a charge that made the lightning bolt design on his shirt glow as he'd blown Ebon off of him and states "They got the advantage down here, we gotta jet now!"
The other three chased after them but Static blasted Talon and Shiv leaving only Ebon who was trying to cover the inside of the subway car but D-Struct had spoken saying "I've had enough of this!" and created a powerful charge of light that'd caused Ebon serious pain so much that he couldn't even fade away from it.
"Ah, Derek, what are you doing? STOP!" Static spoke as he was forced to put the yellow goggles on to better cover his eyes and sheild them from the light. "You'll kill him like that!"
"Better that way, I should have never listened to him!" D-Struct then answered back trying to get brighter still.
"NO, STOP! You don't want your mama to have a killer for a son do you!?" The hero called out and moved to get between them throwing his jacket on top of Ebon.
This did calm them down and make them stop glowing so brightly though Ebon began to phase throught he shadows saying "This ain't over hero." leaving behind Static's jacket as he does so.
We then see D-Struct and his mom reunited as the former had volunteered to help as a test subject for Bang Baby research with Static having watched through the window before flying down towards the ground and landed getting off the saucer as his shadow had elongated and white eyes opened up from it.
"Don't think this means you're off the hook hero, as of now you're number one on our list. Still, I owe you a debt for saving my life and I always deliver." The master of shadows stated to him from the shadow in front of them.
"Ya, how's about joining the heroes instead of running a criminal gang?" Static then questioned which had made Ebon laugh in response as he'd known they weren't serious about that.
"You're funny hero, you know that ain't happening. Still, you need something in my power then call on me anytime, anyplace, name it, and you got it done. But choose wisely because you only got one. And don't think this means we'll let you off the hook next time we cross paths either." Ebon then answered back about the situation at hand.
"Count on it Ebon." The hero answered back as the leader of the Meta-Breed then vanished from Static's shadow leaving them there alone with their thoughts.
