Static Shockwave Season 01 Episode 07
Surprisingly we actually start out with Hotstreak as he'd been with another metahuman who'd been a woman made of living water named Aquamaria as they were up on a rooftop watching the people below for some event going on.
"Candide huh? She's hot." Hotstreak stated snapping his fingers creating a flame between his thumb and index finger.
"What'd you say?" Aquamaria questioned him getting annoyed with what he'd stated about whomever this Candide person was.
"I mean she sells lots of records, y'know more cash for us to steal." He'd quickly corrected himself.
She'd looked down at the crowd below and says "Wouldn't want to think you was blowing me off for some singer."
"Why would I wanna do that? After all you're way more fun." He'd stated to her about the idea of ditching for the singer.
We then move inside where Virgil and Richie had been in line where they'd noticed that the guy talking to the singer seemed familiar and Virgil stepped up to speak saying "Hi Candide, Virgil Hawkins. Love your music and all but you really shouldn't be doing business with Bernie Rast."
"Is that so, and why is that?" She'd questioned about how come they'd wanted her to not do business with him.
"Because the guy's a major sleezeball and he'd tried to screw over some friends of ours." Richie then spoke up about the guy though before they could talk anymore about it they'd heard someone scream and turned to see what was going on.
Hotstreak had been standing on top of a shelf with Aquamaria with the latter calling out "Attention Spire Record shoppers!"
"We're having a fire sale!" Hot streak then called out holding some fireballs in his hands throwing the fireballs and making everyone freak out and get down with Virgil and Richie jumping over the table knocking Candide to the floor as a fireball had struck the glass behind where she'd just been.
"Thanks." She'd spoken seeing that it'd almost taken her head off had it not been for the two of them where as Bernie had hid under a table.
"You're welcome." Richie told her and then both he and Virgil had run off while Hotstreak was creating swirling flames above him and had blasted them outwards above everyone's heads.
"Alright hold all your money up high!" Aquamaria called out and the shoppers had done as she'd said.
She'd grabbed it using her powers and dropped the money into Hotstreak's hands as they'd smoked slightly with him stating "Hey, you got all the cash wet."
There was a surge of electricity as Static had appeared with Gear calling "Don't worry, we're happy to dry it off for you." as he does so and then dropped the money as the customers used that chance to escape.
"Alright, you take Static and I'll handle Gear like we planned." Hotstreak spoke but was slammed into by static though Aquamaria had blasted at him dousing him with water.
"Hey Maria, chill out." Gear called throwing a ZapCap that had unleashed some cryogenic vaopors that had frozen her in place.
"Can't. Move." She'd barely managed to say after being frozen in place by Gear's tech keeping her from going anywhere.
"You'll thaw out, yo Static you alright?" Gear told her and called to his partner who'd nodded in response.
"Ya, I'm fine." He'd stated getting back up when a fireball had shot past Static making him have to dodge as a truck had driven off in a hurry.
We then cut to sometime later as Static and Gear were in a waiting area and a man with red hair and a beard came out stating "Thank you both for coming, I'm doctor Todd." while shaking hands with Static and then with Gear.
Gear had recognized the man and says "Oh ya, you guys do some seriously cutting edge research when it comes to Earth tech."
"That's why the mayor called us in, to see if we could clean up the Metahuman situation." The doctor explained about why they were called and says "Follow me." while leading them somewhere.
"Clean up the Metahuman situation?" static questioned as they'd gone into a room where they'd had Aquamaria laying in some sort of tank.
"As you know the fumes inhaled by the metahumans during the big bang altered their DNA. We've recently developed a new type of resequencer that may allow us to turn back the clock for Maria and make her how she was before the big bang." The doctor explained to them putting his hand on the tank.
"You're talking about a cure?" Static questioned having put it together just what they were doing.
"Possibly, it was recently discovered that the Quantum Vapor was an offshoot of a compouned created by one of Alva Industrie's competetors known as Globulin Green. After studdying the original compound we were able to discover what alterations and been made and worked our way from there. We're very close to a breakthrough." Dr. Todd stated to them about how they were able to figure it out.
"For everyone?" Gear questioned hearing about what they'd done to find some sort of a cure for the Metahumans created by the Quantum Vapor.
"Not everyone yet. It's still highly experimental, but Maria here is an excelent candidate, we were hoping that you could convince her to agree to the test so that we could hopefully cure her." The Doctor answered back as Aquamaria crossed her arms.
She'd turned away from the others and Static questions "You think it's possible Gear?" asking the genius if it'd work.
"Well, I always thought that it was just a matter of time." He'd answered back and Static leaned down pushing the comm button.
"Maria, can you hear us? C'mon Maria you weren't always hardcore that Big Bang changed you and now these guys wanna help give you a second chance at normalcy." Static told her though she sat up angrly looking at them.
"Why should I trust them, or any of you for that matter?" Aquamaria then questions about trusting them.
"Who else is there, Hotstreak?" Static questioned and a tear fell from her eye "Maria, don't you have a family, someone who cares about you?"
Aquamaria had looked down saddened stating "My mom, and my little sister. But I can't see them like this."
"Maria if this goes well you'll be able to see them again, and to live your life. Go to school, make something of yourself someon that your mom and sister can be proud of. I'm sure they miss you." Static had told her stating she could finally be with them again.
We then cut to sometime later as Hotstreak had snuck into the labs finding Aquamaria in a tank and had an electrical current zapping her as they were pouring purple liquid into the tank and he'd burned through one of the cables. This had caused a surge that had Aquamaria starting to destabilize as sh'ed fallen from the tank and washed away into the drains. Clenching his fist Hotstreak put the panel he'd snuck in through back into place as he'd been sneaking away.
We move to later as Gear had been speaking with Dr. Todd about what had happened as the latter explained "The power surge had the opposite effect."
The metahuman genius had checked his info stating "Man, only a few more seconds would have been enough." before noticing Static coming in questioning "Hey, where you been?"
"Pops wanted some quality time." Static explained with a sigh about havint to be late to joining them.
"Well, glad you could work that in." Gear stated as they began to investigate around the place discovering a cable that'd been damaged and says "This conduit fed power to the injection system controls, when the line fried everything went down the drain."
"Including Aquamarie, you think it's possible that Hotstreak did this?" Static questioned about the whole thing.
"Dunno, if he did the question is why?" Answered his partner checking the line and scanning the information on the so-called cure.
Meanwhile Hotstreak had blasted a fountain out of frustration stating "Stupid Doctors!" busting the top of it as h'ed done so.
"Hotstreak, Hotstrek!" He'd heard a voice calling out to him as he'd gone over towards the fountain finding Aquamaria's face appearing in the water.
"Gah! Maria, you're alive!?" He'd questioned in surprise as she'd made the water move up towards him but couldn't take a humanoid shape.
"Can't get solid, can't separate myself from the water. Something wrong with the experiment." She'd told him about what'd happened earlier not knowing he was there.
"Those stupid doctors never should have forced you into it!" He'd called angry about how things played out.
"Wasn't forced, volunteered. Wanted a cure, wanted to see my family again." She'd answered back not being able to get out many words due ot what'd happened.
This surprised him that she'd volunteered and made him feel even worse about what happened, and that was not something that he liked feeling. "What are you gonna do?"
"Gotta find those scientists, make them fix me. You have to help me!" She'd answered back to Hotstreak.
"Uh sure, I can do that." He'd answered back about helping to find a way to get the scientists so that she could be cured.
Hotstreak had helped Maria to gather up the scientists and all the stuff from the labs so that they could get a cure for her but sadly it didn't seem to be working like it had previously despite them trying to get it to work.
"Maybe you guys are having another powersurge or something." Hostreak stated with the scientists looking at him.
"We never divulged that information to the public, how do you know about it?" Dr. Todd questioned about why he'd known about it.
"Hey, wasn't one of the cables melted from the outside?" Another of the doctors questioned while looking at the others and then back to Hotstreak.
"OKAY FINE! I admit it, I snuck into the labs and saw Maria in a tank being electrocuted and burned a cable!" He'd stated to them about what'd happened with the previous experiment.
Aquamaria had burst from the tank questioning "How could you!?" upset at hearing that he'd been the reason the experiment failed.
"I was trying to save you! I swear, if I had known you willingly volunteered I wouldn't have interfered." He'd answered back though this seemed to fall on def ears as she'd started flooding the place.
Static and Gear had shown up and blasted at the door releasing the water as Aquamaria went into the sewers and the two heroes had taken the doctors and Hotstreak up onto a rooftop with Gear pretending to drop the Metahuman Pyrokinetic as they'd done so.
"Thank you, this is what's left of the antidote." Dr. Todd spoke showing them a vile that Gear had taken and was scanning thoguh the doctor also added "Not that it was all that effective."
"No that cure's fine, it's what you're doing with it that's the problem." Gear stated to them holding up the vile confusing them though he'd continued on stating "You guys were zapping Aquamaria, when you should have been zapping the cure itself."
"But for it to hold a charge long enough we'd need a huge jolt of electricity." The doctor stated about doing that.
"Correction, a Static sized Jolt." Gear corrected them and handed it over to Static who'd gave it a supercharge making the vile glow in the process.
Gear had put it into an empty ZapCap and closed it up locking the cure in place as Hotstreak snatched it from him stating "Give me that! This is my mistake and I'm gonna fix it."
"You have to find and stop Maria, the more water she absors the stronger she'll become." Another of the doctors stated to them.
"Maria was heading east towards.." Static began to state looking over at the very large body of water stating "Lake Dakota."
The three Metahumans took off with Gear stating "If she gets to the lake Aquamaria will have enough water to swamp the entire state, maybe I can slow her down by tapping into the water and power station."
"Whatever, just get her above ground and I'll handle the rest." Hotstreak told them as Gear had started getting to work.
Aquamaria was forced above ground and tried to make anything that had water in it attack them with full force as they'd tried to get around her with Static and Gear crashing through her and the electrokinetic hero had been shorted out. Hotstreak however had managed dodged and landed on a rooftop.
"MARIA!" The Pyrokinetic called out as she'd spotted him and moved towards him angrily letting out a scram of frustration as he'd pushed the button on the Zapcap before calmly stating "Time to take your medicine." as she'd tried to drown him and once inside the water he'd let his thumb of the capsule letting it explode right there in his hand wiht the cure rushing through Aqumaria turning the water a deep purple color and the two had started falling from the air.
Static and Gear had managed to get out of the water and catch the two of them after the former had recharged using a couple of first gen ZapCaps. They'd later on taken Maria back to the labs where they'd had more cure to work with and had managed to give her a final dosage allowing her to return to human again.
"So well she be alright now?" Hotstreak questioned putting his hand on the tank she was in worred about having screwed up again.
"She should be fine now, permanently. The first of many I hope." Dr. Todd told them as he and the other two left the room with the tank opening up now.
Once they were alone Hotstreak actually lets himself look and feel guilty and says "Maria, for whatever it's worth I was being honest about wanting to save you and that if I had known I wouldn't have messed up the experiment. I know you probably hate me but you don't have to worry. I'm Going to get out of your life now." and then startes to leave the room before looking back at her stating "I hope you manage to have a good one." then simply leaves her alone in the room.
Static and Gear where out on the road as Hotstreak with the Super Genius stating "I still can't believe you're going soft on us." teasing the pyrokinetic in the process.
"Am I?" He'd questioned and clenched his fists before letting out bursts of flame under him and taking off into the air.
The two had gone to move but had found their shoes had been stuck in the tar of the road which Hotstreak had melted down during his takeoff with Static stating "Aw man." while trying to get unstuck.
"Se you later suckers, Ahahahahaha!" Hotstreak called from the air laughing as he'd flown past the room Maria was in and off into the night.
