Disclaimers: I don't own Gravity Falls or the characters. The characters I only own are Lili and Luc Pines.

Lilith "Lili" Pines' POV

Ah, summer break. A time for leisure, recreation, and taking 'er easy… Unless you're me.

"Sign!" I yelled, pointing in front of us before my cousin - Dipper Pines - crashed through it.

But it was too late. Dipper crashed into the sign with the Mystery Cart. This made Dipper, Mabel (Dipper's twin sister), and me scream in horror. Mabel and I hugged each other tightly before she looks behind her.

"It's getting closer!" yelled Mabel, shaking me roughly.

I whipped my head around, hearing the growls from the monster, who tried to catch the cart, but it fell short. I let out a groan when the car flew off a rock and lands roughly.

Before I get ahead of myself, let me introduce myself. My name is Lilith, but you can call me Lili. My male cousin was known as Dipper Pines. And his sister was Mabel, who looked like she was about to puke. This is not the beginning of our story. I'm sure y'all wondering why Dipper was driving the golf cart, fleeing from a creature of unimaginable horror.

"Look out!" shouted Mabel right after a tree.

Rest assured, there's a perfectly logical explanation.

Let's rewind. This summer wasn't the first summer for me to be in Gravity Falls, but it was the first summer for my twin cousins - Dipper and Mabel Pines. I usually spend the whole summer with Gee-Pa (Stan Pines) with my pa (Luc Pines), but this summer, my pa had to leave the country for his job. I didn't want to spend the summer here without him. He told me I should have fun since I will have my cousins (who are actually my third cousins). To tell the truth, my cousins and I are not close. I barely know a thing about them and they don't know a thing about me. This would be the first summer we would be spending time together. I remember walking into the Shack and getting greeted by Gee-Pa Stan and my cousins.

"Kids, this is Lili, my granddaughter," said Gee-pa Stan, "You three will be sharing the attic."

I glanced at my cousins, who were staring at me. None of us said a word until my male cousin said, "I don't remember meeting you. I'm Dipper. This is my sister - Mabel."

I don't know if I met them or not. Pa doesn't talk about his cousin - who is the father of Dipper and Mabel.

"As Gee-Pa Stan said, I'm Lili," I said, walking past them, "Let's set our things up in the attic."

We all entered the attic. There were three beds in the attic. One bed was on the left while there were two beds on the right. I shrugged picking one of the beds on the right. I placed my bags on the bed before turning towards Dipper and Mabel.

"This attic is amazing!" Mabel exclaimed, holding up her hands, which have gigantic splinters sticking out of them, "Check out all my splinters!"

"And there's a goat on my bed," said Dipper, looking over Gompers the Goat.

"That's Gompers," I pointed out when Mabel walked over to Dipper's bed.

"Hey, friend," Mabel greeted Gompers before the goat chews on her sleeve, "Oh! Yes, you can keep chewing on my sweater."

I shook my head at my cousins. It sounds like Mabel tends to look on the bright side of things. That could be a good thing, but it could be a bad thing. But whatever floats her boat. My eyes drifted towards Dipper, who was looking like he was very uncomfortable. It seems like he's having a hard time getting used to his new surroundings. I, somewhat, understand Dipper since I moved to a new town at the beginning of last school year. Good thing I'm in a town I know. As I said before, I would visit Gee-Pa Stan every summer. Gee-Pa Stan had transformed his house into a tourist trap he called "The Mystery Shack." The real mystery was why anyone came. And guess who had to work there?

It looked like it was gonna be the same, boring routine all summer. Until one fateful day….

I was wiping the shelf off while Dipper was wiping jars. Mabel, on the other hand, was peeking over through Stan-bobbleheads at an unnamed boy.

"He's looking at it! He's looking at it!" squeaked Mabel.

I tilted my head slightly, looking at where her eyes were. A boy was looking at Mabel's note.

"Uh… Do you like me? Yes? Definitely? Absolutely!" the boy read the note before looking around with confusion on his face.

"I rigged it!' giggled Mabel.

I shook my head at my cousin, not understanding why she was going through the whole "Boy Crazy" phase. Mabel and I are the same age, but I'm not going through that phase. I know my pa is happy with that, but he believes I would be in that phase soon.

"Mabel, I know you're going through your whole 'Boy Crazy' phase, but I think you're kind of overdoing it with the 'crazy' part," said Dipper, "Plus, Lili isn't like this, or are you, Lili?"

I quickly shook my head, "No! I don't have a crush on anyone! I know, like, everyone in town and they know me. I don't like anyone in town like that."

"What?" Mabel blows a raspberry, "Come on, Dipper and Lils! Dipper, this is our first summer away from home! It's my big chance to have an epic summer romance! Lili! I'm sure you have had an epic summer romance! And I'm sure we can find someone for you, too!"

I let out a sigh, glancing over at Dipper. We shared an annoyed look before we both look back at Mabel.

"Yeah, but do you need to flirt with every guy you meet?" asked Dipper.

I chuckled, thinking about the times Mabel "flirt" with the guys she had met during her time here. There was one time she scared the heck out of a boy, who was near the greeting cards. Oh, and she scared the boy with the turtle. And the Mattress King cowered away from Mabel when she pops out of the colorful balloons in the store. Yeah, it seems like every boy she tries to talk to would speed away.

"Mock all you want, brother and cousin, but I got a good feeling about this summer. I wouldn't be surprised if the man of my dreams walked through that door right now," said Mabel, turning to the door.

Dipper and I glanced over at the door right when Gee-Pa Stan walked through the door, burping, "Oh! Oh, not good. Ow."

"Aww! Why?!" Mabel cried, making Dipper and I laugh louder.

Even though I'm not close with my cousins, sometimes Dipper and I would hang out and joke about things. And this time, we would lean against each other, laughing at Dipper's sister.

"All right, all right, look alive, people," said Gee-Pa Stan, cutting Dipper's and my laughter off, "I need someone to go hammer up these signs in the spooky part of the forest."

"Not it!" Dipper, Mabel, and I yelled quickly.

"Uh, also not it," said Soos, the handyman of the Mystery Shack.

"Nobody asked you, Soos," said Gee-Pa Stan before his eyes drifted down to me, "Lili, I told you before and I'm going to say it again, your pa doesn't want you in the woods. You are out of the question."

Yeah. I should have known there. My pa was born and raised in Gravity Falls. And he told me about the weird things he saw in the woods and forbids me from entering it. And I don't understand why either. Every summer was normal per se. I don't think there is anything weird in this town whatsoever.

"I know," said Soos, eating a chocolate bar, "and I'm comfortable with that."

I chuckled at the man before hearing Gee-Pa Stan say, "Wendy, I need you to put up this sign!"

I watched as Wendy pretends to reach for the sign, "I would, but I, ugh, can't, ugh, reach it, ugh…"

"I'd fire all of you if I could. All right, let's make it… eenie, meenie, money…" said Gee-Pa Stan, pointing at Dipper, "You."

"Aw, what?" complained Dipper, "Grunkle Stan, whenever I'm in those woods, I feel like I'm being watched."

I rolled my eyes, not believing what my cousin said. He's always saying that something was in the woods. Yeah right. I have been in Gravity for eleven years (this is the twelfth year) and there was nothing in the woods. And I should know. However, my pa thought the same thing since he was born and raised in Gravity Falls. But I don't believe the stories my pa or cousin would say about the woods in Gravity Falls.

"Uhg, this again," groaned Gee-Pa Stan.

"I'm telling you, something weird is going on in this town. Just today, my mosquito bites spelled out BEWARE," said Dipper, who Gee-Pa Stan his arm.

I looked over at his arms, commenting, "Dipper, that says BEWARB."

"Lils is right," said Gee-Pa Stan, "The whole monsters in the forest thing is just local legend, drummed up by guys like me to sell merch to guys like that."

I glanced over, noticing a fat, sweaty man laughing while he was looking at a Stan-bobblehead's head bobble. I chuckled at the stranger before glancing at Gee-Pa Stan when he said to Dipper, "So quit being so paranoid!"

He gave Dipper the signs. Gee-Pa Stan left the gift shop, and I decided to go against Gee-Pa Stan wanted. I followed Dipper into the woods, not wanting my cousin to be alone. I know when Gee-Pa finds out I was in the woods, he would not be happy with me.

"Dipper! Wait!" I yelled after my cousin.

He stopped, giving me a half-smile, and gave me some of the signs. I smiled back, taking them. We walked into the woods, staying quiet at the moment. That's until Dipper started to hammer signs on the trees.

"Lili, nobody ever believes anything I say," said Dipper.

"Maybe my pa would since he always forbids me from entering the woods since he believes this town is weird," I replied, hamming a sign on a tree, "This is the twelfth summer I have visited Gravity Falls, and Gee-Pa Stan and I haven't seen anything in the woods, Dipper."

I hand the hammer back to Dipper, who started to hammer the sign on another tree truck. But it naked a metallic sound. Both Dipper and I stepped back, looking at the tree with a confused look. We shared a look before Dipper tapped the tree with the hammer, which naked more metallic sounds. He glanced back at me before he wipes away some dust and opens a secret window revealing a mechanical box with two control switches on top. I watched as Dipper tests one control, fortunately, nothing happened. Then my cousin tries the other switch. Both Dipper and I jumped in shock when we heard something open behind us.

"What the-?" Dipper asked no one.

I agree with Dipper, not knowing what to think. Maybe Dipper and my pa are right; maybe there is something weird about Gravity Falls.

We walked over to the hole and glanced into it. We noticed there was a book with a hand that has six fingers and a number 3 in the middle. I reached in, picking the book up. I placed it on the ground, looking up at Dipper. My cousin glanced around before looking back at me with a sharp nod.

I flipped one page and an eyeglass is in it. I looked at the eyeglass and put it down. I flipped to another age, and began reading aloud, "It's hard to believe it's been six years since I began studying the strange and wondrous secrets of Gravity Falls, Oregon."

I glanced at Dipper, who was wearing a confused look on his face before I flipped through the pages.

"What is all this?" asked Dipper when I stopped at a page that says TRUST NO ONE.

I began reading again, "Unfortunately, my suspicions have been confirmed. I'm being watched. I must hide this book before he finds it. Remember: in Gravity Falls there is no you can trust."

I closed the journal, hearing Dipper repeat in a mumble, "No one you can trust…"

Before I could say a word, both Dipper and I jumped when we heard someone yell excitedly, "HALLO!"

I glanced up, noticing Mabel behind a log with a smile on her face. I pressed the journal to Dipper, who hid the journal behind his bag. I agreed; maybe it's for the best if Mabel didn't know about this journal.

"Whatcha readin', some nerd thing?" asked Mabel.

"Uh, uh," I started, not knowing how to answer the question, but thankful Dipper shouted, "It's nothing!"

"Uh, uh, it's nothing!" Mabel imitated both Dipper and me before using her normal voice, "What? Are you two actually not gonna show me?"

Dipper and I glanced at each other. I know Mabel is Dipper's twin sister, but I don't know if she can be trusted or not. I gave him a look that it was up to him since she is his sister. He smiled, knowing what I was silently telling him before his smile vanished.

He glanced back at Mabel, saying gently, "Let's go somewhere private."
