"The what?!" Padmé exclaimed.
A whirlwind of emotions possessed her. How could he be the new Sith? And again, in a matter of seconds, her dream life fluttered away, sinking into the sand deeper and deeper.
"I was his apprentice Padmé and I killed him. I am now the Sith." He said softly yet coldly.
"But. That's... No Anakin. Please." She begged a single tear dropped down her face. She was at a loss. Sad, Happy, and mortified in a matter of ten minutes.
"I told you I would over throw him..." he told her. "Didn't I Obi-Wan?" he shouted.
Obi-Wan came out from behind the dome shaped building. He hovered his hand over his lightsaber.
"indeed you did." He spoke calmly.
"Please Anakin! Come with us! You have the opportunity to destroy the galactic empire! Please Anakin, join Obi-Wan and I, come home!" She shouted through tears.
"No, I won't give up what I have worked so hard for. I am appreciated, I have an entire army who will do anything at the snap of my fingers." Anakin said with anger and aggression after each word.
Padmé could feel it again, that choking sensation she felt on Mustafar all those weeks ago. It's like it was happening all over again. Each word pierced her side like a hot steak.
"I am done Anakin. If this means more to you, this lust for power, the Sith, the empire, if this means more to you than the kind and loving people in your life, then I am gone. But don't tell me I abandoned you when you did this you your self. You left. Not me."
"Whatever you say." He snickered.
"Anakin I don't understand how you can love me in one instance and two seconds later hate me." She choked out.
"I don't hate you Padmé, I love you."
"well then you have a twisted perspective on what love is." She spat out.
"Thi-This is not love." She looked at him one last time desperately hoping and wishing something would change.
"At least-" she started. "This is not the same love we had. Not the love I had 13 years ago for that boy, not the love we shared on Geonosis, not the love we shared even two months ago. True love does not mean holding your spouse captive, as a prisoner." Once again the word prisoner made her wince.
Padmé knew he was gone. Not Obi-Wan, her children, or herself could bring him back.
"Padmé I won't hold you prisoner. You need to make a choice." Anakin said.
"And what would that be?" Obi-Wan asked inquisitively.
"It's Obi-Wan Kenobi, or your husband Anakin Skywalker. You choose." He said.
How could she choose? How could he do this to her. It was impossible, she couldn't abandon her morals or her husband who she did love so dearly.
"Padmé, you can leave with Obi-Wan and the rebels, or stay with your husband, where you will be safe, where we can be a family, where we can rule the galaxy and make things the way we want them to be." Anakin said this the same way he did on Mustafar, with the joy in his voice. Padmé could feel her heart breaking again till finally it snapped.
"Kill him for all I care Obi-Wan, my husband is gone, Anakin Skywalker is dead, he died on Coruscant, Darth Vader killed him, so Darth Vader should die." She said.
"This is what you want!?!"Anakin shrieked as he pulled his lightsaber out of his belt. "You want to go up against me!? Against the Sith? The empire?" He yelled turning on his lightsaber.
"Then so be it." He spat. He lunged towards Padmé.
Without hesitation Obi-Wan jumped in front of her. He ignited his lightsaber and began to fight Anakin. They fought crashing lightsabers into one another, stumbling back and forth across the desert sand.
Padmé sank to the ground. She sank her knees into the sand creating holes for them to rest. She cried. She cried and cried. All she could feel was pain. He was gone. She wouldn't feel his loving embrace again, they loving husband who would do anything to keep her safe has once again tried to take her life. But in this moment she started panicking.
What would happen if Anakin won? Would she watch him murder her friend, his old master? Would she go with him back to Mustafar? Oh how this clouded her mind.
Their lightsabers continued to crash. The men traveled around each other quickly and swiftly blocking the others attacks. They crashed with so much force she could see purple every time the blue and red sabers collided.
Padmé's heart sank as she watched Obi-Wan knock Anakin off balance. He fell down into the sand.
"god I hate sand." He said before spitting it out and jumping up with a scream lunging towards Obi-Wan. As he attacked he managed to cut through Obi-Wan's arm. Padmé shrieked as she watched his hand fly through the air and saw his saber drop.
Padmé got up and ran towards him. Obi-Wan was in so much pain.
"Please don't kill him. If there is any piece of Anakin still left, please." She cried.
He clicked off his lightsaber. "You were like my father Obi-Wan and for that I will spare you today." He hissed.
"Now, will you be coming with me?"
"never." Padmé hissed. She couldn't even look at him. Obi-Wan was still alive. She needed to get him help.
"there are other ways." He said before putting his hood on.
Anakin rushed towards his ship and in a matter of seconds was gone.
