"Obi-Wan?" Padmé asked breathlessly. "Please Obi-Wan. Please wake up." She pleaded. She rubbed her hand on his one remaining arm. She desperately needed him to wake up. Not only to make sure he was alright, but she had already lost Anakin, she couldn't lose Obi-Wan too.

"Padmé are you alright?" He asked her. He started to sit up, groaning in pain.

"You just got your arm chopped off and you're asking if I am alright?" It made her smile. She needed to smile.

"Come on, I don't know where Darth Vader has gone but I know we need to hurry." Padmé said. Darth Vader. She didn't want to call him Anakin anymore. He wasn't. Anakin never would have attacked her with a lightsaber. Anakin never would have chopped off Obi-Wan's arm. Anakin is gone. Darth Vader merely possesses his body to utilize it in horrifying and unimaginable ways.

Padmé helped Obi-Wan up and assisted him in boarding their ship. By the time they were on she was panting for breath. She gently helped Obi-Wan lay in a small part of the ship.

They didn't speak on the ride back to Coruscant. It was silent. Padmé was too broken to talk. Her mind ran in circles as she played the past few hours over and over. But thinking about it didn't help, she was still as confused as ever and thinking about Anakin made her long for his toxic kiss, a drug she couldn't have again. She knew she loved him, or at least used to, but it was times like this that made her feel as though love had blinded her.

Obi-Wan is hurt because he cared about her, he protected her from Anakin. All Anakin cares about is himself. Was he always like this? Did she just not see it through the purple haze of lust that clouded her vision?

No matter how hard she tried her mind always went back to Anakin. It has only been a short while in the ship yet she feels as though she can't function without him. He is a part of her, a detrimental part of her and without him all hope seems lost.

The pain in her heart worsened each minute. Every time she thought she could take no more pain, that it couldn't hurt any worse, she somehow managed to bear even more.

After a long agonizing journey, they arrived back at Coruscant.

"Obi-Wan?" She said gently shaking him awake. She helped him up again. The two of them started off the ship.

"Somebody, anybody, please!" She yelled. "Please Obi-Wan needs help!" She said.

No one came.

"I need you to stay here I will be back shortly with someone to help you." Padmé whispered. Obi-Wan groaned.

She ran through the halls.

No one.

She turned the corner expecting to see no one just as before, but this sight haunted her. Scattered on the floor lay the survivors. Politicians, and Jedi who managed to survive. But to her immense horror, senator Organa lay dead with a lightsaber wound to the chest.

She screamed. "No, no senator Organa!" She said as she knelt down the picked up his head. But only one thought ran through her mind as she heard the faint cry of a child.

She sprinted following the sound of crying babies. She cried tears streaming down her face as she hoped and prayed that her children were alright. She stumbled on a dead soldier and grabbed his blaster.

She continued to run and run until she reached the sound.

"Padmé." A voice said.

It was Anakin, or rather Darth Vader. His lightsaber was ignited as he stood towering over their children.

"you let them go!" She shouted. She was angry, her voice filled with hate. He couldn't do this to her. She had lost everything, she couldn't lose her children too.

"Or what? You'll kill me? If Obi-Wan or the rebels couldn't what makes you think you can?" He said in a mocking tone. "I know you want me dead you said it yourself on Tatooine, but Padmé, you're not thinking clearly." He spoke rather softly. It was almost eerie.

Without thinking Padmé squeezed the trigger of her blaster hitting Anakin in the torso. He fell back into a crumpled mess on the floor, his lightsaber turned off. She grabbed her children and ran. She ran back to Obi-Wan hoping that she got there before Anakin. She carefully laid her children under Obi-Wan's cloak and grabbed his lightsaber.

She heard banging and yells coming from a door down the hall. She tried the door but it was locked so she took the lightsaber and sliced off the handle allowing the door to open.

"Please hurry, Obi-Wan and the others need help." She said crying. She ran back to the room Anakin had been holding their children in only to find once again he had gotten away.

...

It was days later. The democracy had collapsed, and with Palpatine dead and Anakin wounded, the city was quiet, almost abandoned.

They were able to house the wounded in real hospitals, not makeshift hospital beds she was used to seeing the rebels occupy.

She bounced her leg up and down eagerly on the floor. She hadn't heard if Obi-Wan was okay.

"Padmé?" A robotic voice said.

"yes?" She looked up in anticipation.

"Obi-Wan has requested your presence." The robot said softly before turning around and leaving.

Padmé walked down the hall with her children in her arms, peaking into each room until a smile broke across her face. Obi-Wan laid across a hospital bed.

"Padmé?" He said.

"Obi-Wan!" She exclaimed.

"You're, you're alright!" She said.

She could feel hope build in her once again.

"Thank you Padmé." Obi-Wan said softly. "If it weren't for you I would have died. You saved me, you saved the rebels, you faced Anakin when I couldn't, and for that I am forever grateful. We all are." He said.

"but Obi-Wan, I didn't." She said. A confused look took over Obi-Wan's face. "Senator Organa was killed, and many others." She said.

"Darth Vader killed them and I couldn't save them." She said letting a tear escape.

Obi-wan was silent. He'd worked closely with Bail for weeks before what happened that day.

After sucking in a deep breath, he shook his head, "Bail died a hero. He worked hard to restore balance after this corruption. I will never forget him."

"I won't either," she whispered.

"Anakin is lost," Obi-wan's voice held deep pain, Padme could hear the brokeness he felt within his soul. "So very lost."

"He escaped," Padmé informed him, "But I won't let him again. Once you heal, we'll find him. I'll end him myself if I have to.

"Padmé-"

"You can't change my mind."
