"The devil's favorite creation."

"Your purpose," his master growled, slamming his fist onto the throne's armrest in a fit of rage. "Is to serve me! To do as I say, when I say, and how I say! Now… if I find that you have been disobedient…I will go up to earth myself and kill that disgusting little creature who seems to have captured your undivided attention as of late. Am I understood?"

Sasuke's temper was rising steadily as his fists clenched and unclenched by his sides. But in the end, he released a breath and nodded once in affirmation… refusing to submit and meet the foul creature's eyes for fear of what he might give away of his true intentions. "Good. Now leave me until I summon you again. I wish to look at you no longer OR be in your presence further..," its spindly fingers flicked toward the exit, indicating it was time for him to take his leave. He didn't have to be told twice.

He gathered a few supplies here and there on his pathway to freedom…and even though his chances of surviving this completely unscathed were slim, it was worth the risk if he could spend the rest of his life away from this hell and with the one true constant that made him see all of the good that life had to offer.

Sasuke placed his weapon's pouch across his hips and his small pack slung on his back as he made his way towards the cave's mouth…a deep, dark sky, filled with a mirage of stars and constellations, greeting him like an old friend. He would miss some things about this place, he thought as he stretched his wings out behind him; the long black feathers reflecting the evening's light beautifully; but as it were, this place was no longer home to him and so with only minimal trepidation, his wings expanded again before tucking close to his back, his legs bending, before he sprang up towards the circular portal that resembled the earth's moon.

Soon, he would be with his beloved, and they'd be able to live happily ever after. Away from all of the war. Away from constant heartbreak.

And away from all of the oppressiveness that came from their lineages. Or so he thought.

Little did he know that this one decision would have such dire consequences. If he'd known, he would have done it differently. Sasuke wouldn't have risked her spirit… or her life. But now he'll do whatever it takes to protect and save her; including giving up his own life for hers. Anything and everything—

For his beloved Sakura.

Author's Notes:

If any of these sound like your own writing or another you have read I apologize but I didn't copy anyone's work. This is entirely my own writing. As stated on Twitter, I'll be going at my own pace and not follow a daily upload schedule more than likely. I'll just post when they come to me. They'll probably be pretty short, and maybe a bit random, but I'll do my very best!
