Snowflake had made a good call in making everyone wear earplugs. It had not been even two minutes before they started bickering.
They would be hiking for at least a week. There was no point in flying. If they flew above the forest morgana would see them for sure. They couldn't fly through the forest as it was too thick. Therefore, they had to walk. This was most inconvenient seeing as only milori could walk long distances for long periods of time.
The problem was that as they continued deeper into the forest, the danger would only increase. Morgana had spies everywhere and there were many animals that resided in the forest that you would not wish to anger.
Still, the team persisted. They remained alert, for anything could be deadly in these woods. In their absence they had asked fairy mary, dewey and the rest of the council to help deliver winter.
They walked for the better part of the day in silence, with the exception of daina and hyacinth. When they stopped for the night and set up a camp the two enemies finally took a break. Although daina would never admit it, arguing with hyacinth was tiring.
They all made small talk for a few moments before they retired for the night. Daina however couldn't sleep. Something weighed heavily on her mind. Her sister. Although she would never tell anyone, there was a lot more to her and clarion's story then anyone would have ever thought. They had both been through so much yet there was still more. The truth was much different than the story she told her friends.
Morgana hadn't killed her brother and mother alone. She had turned her father against them. He had helped morgana with those murders. And she had to kill him. Her own father. Anger coursed through her veins. Clarion was so young that she couldn't let her sister live with those memories. She had altered them so that clarion would always remember something good about her childhood. Yet she had never forgotten her father's betrayal.
After tossing and turning all night, daina couldn't sleep. So she got up and flew to the top of the highest tree branch in the woods and perched there, gazing over the forest. And that was when she saw it…
